Getting Stronger (Part 2)
At the Rolling Fields, Lincoln was walking past the fence next to the Meeting Spot and walks over to a Watt Trader standing near the opening in the fence.
"Excuse me, sir." said Lincoln, getting the Watt Trader's attention. "Do you have any pokeballs for trade?"
"Yes. I have Net Balls for trade, for fifty Watts each." said the Watt Trader.
"Okay. I'll take a couple." said Lincoln. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and transfers 100 Watts to a device the Watt Trader has to store Watts and he gives Lincoln two Net Balls. After that, Lincoln continues to explore the Rolling Fields when he sees an unused pokeball on the ground near a strong looking Pokemon that looked like a big snake made entirely out of rocks. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Onix, the Rock Snake Pokemon. As it digs through the ground, it absorbs many hard objects. This is what makes its body so solid." said the Rotom Phone. Not knowing if his Pokemon stood a chance against it, Lincoln sneaks over to where the pokeball is while the Pokemon wasn't looking, picks it up off the ground and quietly walks past the Pokemon until he reaches Lake Axewell. As he walks alongside it, a woman who was fishing hears him approaching and turns towards him.
"Excuse me, but do you have any Watts on you?" asked the woman.
"Yeah, why?" asked Lincoln.
"I just fished up something brilliant that I'll give to you for just 100 Watts." said the woman.
"Sure." said Lincoln. After transfering 100 Watts from his Rotom Phone to some sort of device the woman had on her, she reaches into her pocket and gives Lincoln a Wishing Piece.
"Whoa! A Wishing Piece!?" said Lincoln.
"Yes. I don't really need it." said the woman. She turns and walks away. After looking at the Wishing Piece for a few seconds, Lincoln looks around the area for Pokemon Dens and sees a few of them. He decides to pick the one Lincoln doesn't know that Lucy was in several minutes ago. He walks over to it and drops the Wishing Piece into it and a pillar of light comes out of it. Lincoln climbs into it and once he was inside, he looks around and sees a giant grayish green Pokemon with straight tusks coming out of each side of its mouth. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Axew, the Tusk Pokemon. These Pokemon nest on the ground and use their tusks to crush hard berries. Crushing berries is how they test each other's strength." said the Rotom Phone.
"Whoa. A dragon type Pokemon. I'm definitely going to capture this Pokemon." said Lincoln, pulling out a pokeball. "Riolu, I choose you." He throws the pokeball and releases Riolu. He then returns Riolu to his pokeball, enlarges it with his Dynamax Band, and throws the pokeball, releasing Riolu as a giant. "Okay, Riolu. Use Max Knuckle." said Lincoln. Riolu summons a fist made out of energy from the sky and it flies towards Axew and crashes into it. Riolu's muscle begin to bulge, due to Max Knuckle effect of increasing its attack strength. Axew unleashes two streams of dark energy and they hit Riolu, only hurting it a little. Riolu suddenly slumped a little. "Oh man, that was Max Darkness, it can weaken its targets' defense. Good thing it was a dark type attack though, those aren't very effective against fighting type Pokemon, but I have a plan to increase Riolu's defense. Now, Riolu, Max Steelspike." Riolu unleashes a trail of large metal spikes and they hit Axew. Riolu begins to shine, due to Max Steelspike's effect of increasing its user's defense. Axew summons a pillar of energy from below Riolu and damages him. "All right, Riolu, let's try one more Max Knuckle." Riolu summons another fist of energy from the sky and it crashes into Axew. Axew explodes with energy and it freezes in place. Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball from his pocket and enlarges it with his Dynamax Band and throws it at Axew. It opens up and sucks in the Axew, it falls to the ground, it shakes for a few seconds and it shrinks to its regular size. Lincoln walks over to it and picks it up. "Woohoo! I just caught an Axew." The pokeball glows and vanishes due to Lincoln already having six Pokemon with him, so Axew was sent to storage. Lincoln exits the Den and takes out his Rotom Phone to learn more about his new Axew. "Okay, this says my Axew is a boy, it knows Scratch, Leer, Bite, False Swipe, Assurance, Taunt, and Slash. His ability is Rivalry, which has him do more damage to an opposing Pokemon that's the same gender as he is, but less to Pokemon that are the opposite gender of him, so that means he can do more harm to males and less to females. Lincoln grabs a Dragon Claw TR, a few berries, and a big golden nugget that were around the den and continues exploring. As Lincoln explored, he took the time to train the Pokemon he has with him. A few minutes later in the Dappled Grove, Lincoln's Scorbunny got done battling a Nuzleaf. After that battle, Scorbunny suddenly froze up. "Scorbunny? Are you okay? You don't have paralysis, do you?" Lincoln asked.
"I feel strange." said Scorbunny. All of a sudden, Scorbunny started to glow brightly, making Lincoln shield his eyes. Once the glowing stopped, Lincoln saw that Scorbunny evolved. Scorbunny's ears now hung low down the sides of his head, he looked like he was wearing a full-body red and black sweatsuit with the parts below his chest being black, and the arms, tips of his feet and the collar that covered the bottom half of his head being red; and the fur on the front of his head was sticking straight up. Lincoln pulled out his Rotom Phone and points it at his newly-evolved Scorbunny.
"Raboot, the Rabbit Pokemon, and the evolved form of Scorbunny. Its thick and fluffy fur protects it from the cold and enables it to use hotter fire moves." said the pokedex.
"This...is...AWESOME! You evolved into Raboot! How do you feel?" asked Lincoln.
"I feel stronger than ever! I want to keep training some more." said Lincoln's new Raboot.
"We will. But I should also focus on our other teammates." said Lincoln.
"You're right. I shouldn't be selfish. But I still want to train some more." said Raboot. Lincoln nods in response. Lincoln shifted some of his attention onto Magikarp for a while to help her get stronger, but also still trained Raboot, Rookidee, Yamper, Riolu, and Nickit. During the training that Raboot learned Flame Charge, Yamper learned Roar, Rookidee learned Pluck and that's not all that happened with her. After Lincoln helped her learn Pluck, she evolved. She was bigger, she had sharper features than before, her wings were bigger and her legs were longer. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at the newly-evolved Rookidee.
"Corvisquire, the Raven Pokemon, and the evolved form of Rookidee. Smart enough to use tools in battle, these Pokemon have been seen picking up rocks and flinging them or using ropes to wrap up enemies." said the pokedex.
"Corvisquire! Now you've evolved." said Lincoln
"You got that right, Lincoln." said the newly-evolved Corvisquire as she extends her wings and turns around to let Lincoln get a good look at her. Also during the training, Nickit learned Snarl and Assurance. and Riolu learned Rock Smash. Lincoln continued to train Magikarp in West Lake Axewell, having her battle Pokemon he caught on his fishing rod.
"Okay, Magikarp. Use Tackle on Remoraid." said Lincoln.
"You got it, LIncoln." said Magikarp. She swims towards the Remoraid and slams into it, knocking it out. Lincoln takes out one of his new Net Balls and throws it at the Remoraid. The ball hits it, sucks it in, and captures it. The ball soon teleports to storage. Lincoln checks out his Rotom Phone for information on the Remoraid he caught.
"This says that Remoraid is a boy, he knows Water Gun, Helping Hand, Water Pulse, and Focus Energy. He also has the Sniper ability which increases his power if he lands a critical hit." said Lincoln. Magikarp suddenly starts to glow brightly. "Magikarp. You're evolving." Lincoln stares in awe as Magikarp started to change. When the glowing stopped, Lincoln was stunned by what he saw Magikarp evolve into. She was now a lot longer with blue scales with a yellow underbelly. She had fins along her back, and her mouth was bigger with really sharp teeth and she had a ferocious look on her face. Lincoln couldn't take her eyes off her as he pulled out his Rotom Phone and pointed it at her.
"Gyarados, the Atrocious Pokemon, and the evolved form of Magikarp. It has an extremely aggressive nature. The Hyper Beam it shoots from its mouth totally incinerates all targets." said the Rotom Phone. Gyarados stares down at Lincoln.
"So what do you think of me now, Lincoln?" asked the recently-evolved Gyarados.
"I'll bet if all those other trainers that rejected you back when you were a Magikarp could see you now, they'd be kicking themselves for doing it. You...are...SUPER AWESOME!" said Lincoln. Gyarados roars with joy and starts to nuzzle Lincoln. "And according to the pokedex, you know Bite now, and you have the Intimidate ability, which cuts the attack of any opposing Pokemon you appear before in half." After that, Lincoln worked on helping Gyarados learn some new moves such as Whirlpool, Ice Fang, Brine, and Scary Face. It was safe to say that Lincoln's team is becoming a lot stronger. Sometime later, beams of red light came out of several Pokemon Dens and a purple one came out of one of them. Lana was standing near one of the Dens in the Rolling Fields area. Lana spent a half an hour training Bunnelby and Tympole. Bunnelby has learned Flail and Double Kick and Tympole learned Round and Bubblebeam. She walks over to the Den and uses her Rotom Phone to absorb Watts from it. After that, she jumps into it. Once inside, she looks around and sees a giant black and navy blue, mole-like Pokemon with long claws. She pulls out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Drilbur, the Mole Pokemon. It brings its claws together and whirls around at high speed before rushing toward its prey." said the Rotom Phone.
"Cool." said Lana. She pulls out the Net Ball that contains her Tympole. "Let's go, Tympole." said Lana, throwing Tympole's Net Ball and releasing him. She returns Tympole to his Net Ball and enlarges it with her Dynamax Band. She throws it and releases Tympole as a giant. "Tympole, Max Geyser." Tympole unleashes a large gush of water out of his mouth and it hits Drilbur, causing super effective damage due to Drilbur being a ground type. It suddenly begins to rain in the area. "Oh yeah, Max Geyser causes it to rain here. Well, at least Tympole's water type attacks will be even stronger. The Drilbur lunges at Tympole and slashes him repeatedly with its claws (Fury Swipes), causing Tympole to float back. "Oh yeah!? Tympole, one more Max Geyser." Tympole unleashes another gush of water more powerful than the first one due to the rain and it hits Drilbur. Drilbur explodes with energy and it freezes. Lana enlarges an empty pokeball with her Dynamax Band and she throws it at the Drilbur. It sucks in the Drilbur and falls to the ground, it shakes a few times until it stops and shrinks to its regular size. Lana picks it up. "Yeah! I caught a Drilbur." After leaving the Den, Lana takes out her Rotom Phone to learn more about her new Drilbur. "Okay, this Drilbur is a girl, she knows Mud-Slap, Rapid Spin, Scratch, Hone Claws and Fury Swipes. She has the ability Sand Force, which powers up her ground, rock, and steel type attacks when she's in the middle of a sandstrom. Cool." She finds a TR that contains the move, Drill Run, a small blue pouch that had what appears to be pink dust in it and a Grepa Berry. Deciding Drill Run would be a good move for her Drilbur to know, she uses the TR on her and it breaks apart. She puts Drilbur's pokeball in her pocket and the blue pouch and berry in her backpack and she continues exploring.
"Excuse me." someone called out. Lana turns to see the woman Lincoln has already met waving to her. Lana walks over to her.
"Yeah?" said Lana.
"I was wondering if you have any Watts?" said the woman.
"Yeah. I just got some from some Den I was in." said Lana.
"I just fished up something incredible." said the woman.
"What is is?" asked Lana.
"For 100 Watts, I'll give it to you." said the woman. Lana scratches her butt in thought for a few seconds before taking out her Rotom Phone.
"You better not be ripping me off or you'll have my Bunnelby to deal with." said Lana. She transfers 100 Watts to a device the fisher had. The woman reachers into a bag and pulls out a large pearl.
"Whoa! What is that?" asked Lana.
"This is known as a Big Pearl. You can get quite a pretty pokedollar for this." said the fisher.
"How much are we talking about?" asked Lana with interest.
"4,000 pokedollars." replied the woman.
"Wow! Sure, I'll take that." exclaimed Lana, grabbing the Big Pearl.
"Pleasure doing business with you." said the woman and she turns and resumes fishing. Lana stares at the Big Pearl, stroking it.
"Whoa. 4,000 pokedollars." said Lana. She puts the Big Pearl in her backpack and continues to explore the Wild Area. At the Meeting Spot, Clyde has given the Watt Trader fifty Watts and he gives Clyde a Net Ball. After that, Clyde walks out of the Meeting Spot and towards Lake Axewell. He was walking past some tall grass near the lake when a light blue Pokemon with an oval-shaped head with purple branching gills sticking out of each side of it, dark-blue markings on its torso, two round small feet, and a thick tail comes hopping out in front of him.
"What Pokemon are you?" asked Clyde as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the new Pokemon.
"Wooper, the Water Fish Pokemon. This Pokemon lives in cold water. It will leave the water to search for food when it gets cold outside." said the pokedex.
"I can use more Pokemon for my team, and this says you're part water-type and part ground-type. Would you like to be on my team?" asked Clyde. Wooper nods and gets into a battle stance. "I guess you want to battle first." The Wooper nods in response. "I guess in life you have to work for what you need or want." Clyde then pulls out Purrloin's pokeball and releases her from it. Purrloin stares at the Wooper, ready to fight. "Okay, Purrloin. Use Fake Out." Purrloin claps her paws together, releasing a shock wave that hits Wooper and makes it flinch. "Now use Fury Swipes." said Clyde. Purrloin releases a barrage of scratches at Wooper, knocking it onto its back. It weakly tries to get up, but it was too sore. Clyde sees an opportunity to catch it and pulls out his Net Ball and throws it at Wooper. The ball hits Wooper, sucks it in, and catches it. "Oh, yeah. I caught a Wooper. Good work, Purrloin." Clyde scratches Purrloin's head and she purrs in relaxation. Clyde releases Wooper from its pokeball and he gives it a couple Oran Berries. "Here's something to help you recover. I hope Purrloin wasn't too rough with you."
"Woop Wooper." said Wooper with a shrug.
"I hope I can get some PokeTranslators soon." said Clyde. He looks at his Rotom Phone at the information about Wooper on the screen. "This says you're a boy. You know Water Gun, Tail Whip, Rain Dance, Mud Shot, Mist, and Haze. And you have the Water Absorb ability which makes it that any water-type attack that hits you will heal you instead of damaging you. Welcome to the team, Wooper." Wooper hops with joy. Clyde spent some time training all his Pokemon and gathering Watts from nearby dens. During training, Wooper learned Slam, and Purrloin learned Torment. A few hours later, everyone met near the Meetup Spot and started to make lunch. Everyone let out their Pokemon so they can relax and play while they talked about what they accomplished so far.
"Our teams are becoming a lot stronger, you guys." said Lincoln.
"I know. I can't believe your Scorbunny, Rookidee, and Magikarp evolved, Lincoln. And I really can't believe that Magikarp evolved into that!" said Clyde as he pointed at Lincoln's new Gyarados.
"And Raboot's new outfit totes goes with his fur color." said Leni.
"I think that's just a natural part of his body, but thanks for the compliment." said Lincoln.
"I think Lana's enjoying having her new Drilbur, Tympole and Bunnelby around." said Luna as she points to Lana playing in a mud puddle made from Bunnelby and Tympole's Mud Shot attacks, and Drilbur's Mud-Slap.
"Yeah. Thanks to these guys, I'll always have an easy source of mud to play in." said Lana as she rubs some mud on her face. Just then, Lincoln's Rotom Phone rings and shows his mom on the Caller I.D. He activates video chat and has the Rotom Phone float in front of them.
"Hi, kids. How are you all doing?" asked Lynn Sr.
"We're doing great, Dad." said Lincoln.
"So what kind of Pokemon do you have now?" asked Lola. Lincoln had his Rotom Phone show all their Pokemon. When it got to Gyarados, she roared, making Lynn Sr. jump behind their living room couch.
"What is that?!" asked Lynn Sr.
"Remember Magikarp? That red fish from before?" asked Lincoln.
"Y-Yeah?" replied Lynn Sr. Lincoln went on to explain how Pokemon evolve into different ones when certain conditions are met.
"Amazing. It takes normal creatures generations to evolve and you're saying that Pokemon can do it in days at least?" asked Lisa.
"That's right." said Lincoln.
"What else did you guys do?" asked Lynn Jr. Lincoln went on about how they did some Max Battles in the Pokemon Dens and got some stuff from them. He also told them about how they can collect Watts from the Pokemon Dens to trade stuff for with other people.
"What kind of stuff do you usually find?" asked Lola. Lincoln pulls out his Big Nugget and shows it to everyone. Lola's eyes widened at what she saw. "Is that...gold?!"
"Yep. Luna found a gold Nugget, Lucy found a couple of Big Mushrooms that are worth a good amount of money at stores here, and some sort of bone. Don't know if it's worth much, but we'll find out soon." said Lincoln.
"And look what someone traded me some Watts for." said Lana as she held out her Big Pearl. Lola looked stunned.
"Is that a pearl?!" asked Rita and Lola.
"Yep. Ain't it a beaut? I was told I can get some good cash for it here." said Lana.
"I'm glad you kiddos don't have to worry about money while you're there." said Lynn Sr.
"And Clyde, We want you to be careful and stay close to the others." said Harold McBride.
"Don't worry, Dads. I have my Pokemon with me for protection as well as companionship." said Clyde.
"That's good to hear." said Howard. They talked for a few minutes before hanging up after the Loud parents said they'll call back in the evening to check up on them. After that, the Loud kids and Clyde had lunch. Back at the Loud House, everyone was talking about how the kids in Galar were doing.
"I can't believe the size of that pearl that Lana showed us." said Rita.
"And those gold nuggets looked pricey and they just found them lying on the ground for the taking after those Max Battle things." said Lola with a pout.
"Now, sweetie. No need to get upset, I'm certain they'll bring you back something." said Lynn Sr.
"I'm just glad they're doing okay." said Luan.
"Now that that's out of the way, I'll get started on lunch." said Lynn Sr.
"We can help if you'd like." said Harold.
"Sure. You can stay and join us if you'd like." said Lynn Sr.
"That would be nice. Thanks, Lynn." said Howard as he, Harold, and Lynn Sr. went into the kitchen. In the living room, Lola was looking at the TV screen with a sour look on her face.
