Galactic Pursuit and Psyducks
After having lunch and Eddy picking up Golbat and Absol, the Eds leave the Pastoria City Pokemon Center and walk over to where their bikes were parked.
"So where to next, sockhead?" asked Eddy. Edd takes the map out of his backpack and looks at it.
"If we head west, we should reach Route 212, and if we continue through there, we should be able to reach Hearthome City." said Edd.
"Fantina better accept our challenges when we get there." said Eddy.
"Hopefully having four badges each will convince her we're ready to battle her." said Edd. "And we can also get more training for our Pokemon on our way there."
"Well lets go then." said Eddy. As he was about to climb on his bike, he notices a man in a Team Galactic uniform near the entrance to the Great Marsh. "Hey. Isn't that one of those Team Galactic jerks over there?" Ed and Edd look over and spotted him.
"I believe it is." said Edd.
"What is he doing?" asked Ed.
"Let's see what he's up to." said Eddy. The Eds walk over to where the Team Galactic member is. The Team Galactic member is looking at a package in his hands.
"The package finally came from the Veilstone City Warehouse." said the Team Galactic member. "So, now its my job to deliver it to the lake." He turns to see the Eds looking at him. "You...heard everything I was saying out loud, did you?" The Eds nodded in response. "If I wasn't in a hurry, I'd pulverize you with my Pokemon. But I have to get to the lake ASAP." He turns and runs away.
"Get him!" yelled Eddy. The Eds chased after the man, no matter how far the man ran, the Eds continued their pursuit with Ed laughing along the way. After several minutes of running, the Team Galactic member reached a place called Valor Lakefront and stopped to catch his breath. He turned to see the Eds walking over to him.
"All right. Since you won't leave me alone on your own, my Pokemon will have to make you." said the Team Galactic member, pulling out a pokeball. Eddy walks forward, also pulling out a pokeball.
"I got this, you guys," said Eddy.
"Glameow, take care of these kids." said the Team Galactic Member as he released a Glameow.
"Infernape. Take care of this, buddy." said Eddy as he releases Infernape from his pokeball. "Okay, Infernape. Use Mach Punch." Infernape quickly moves towards the Glameow and lands a solid hit right across its face, sending it flying right into the Team Galactic member, knocking him over. When the Team Galactic member looked at his Glameow, he was shocked to see it was knocked out. The Eds just stared with stunned looks.
"That was over rather quickly." said Edd.
"Yeah." replied Ed.
"What can I say? My Infernape is tough." said Eddy.
"That means our Pokemon are getting stronger." said Edd. The Team Galactic member returns Glameow to its pokeball.
"You're lucky that I don't have anymore Pokemon with me and that I'm too busy to deal with a bunch of kids. So I'm going to be a nice guy and leave quietly." said the Team Galactic member as he throws pokedollars to the ground and runs off.
"What a loser." said Eddy as he picks up the pokedollars.
"That was impressive." a female voice said from behind them. They turn around and blushed when they saw Cynthia walking towards them.
"Oh, hi Ms Cynthia. What brings you here?" asked Edd.
"I came here to research the folklore of Lake Valor. But it looks like the lake is not open to the public right now." she says as she points at a path being blocked by two scientists. "According to legend, there's an island on Lake Valor that is home to a mysterious Pokemon. No one is to disturb that Pokemon." said Cynthia.
"We won't, Ms Cynthia." said Ed with a blush.
"So to change the subject, have you seen that group of Psyducks on Route 210?" asked Cynthia.
"I do recall seeing them on our way to Veilstone City. Why do you ask?" asked Edd. Cynthia pulls out a bag from her pocket.
"They are suffering from severe headaches. This bag has medicine that can relieve them. Would you boys mind bringing this medicine over to them and have them take it?" asked Cynthia. Eddy runs over and grabs the bag.
"No problem. We'd be happy to." said Eddy.
"But, Eddy. What about our next gym battle?" asked Edd.
"It can wait, sockhead." said Eddy.
"Thank you very much, boys." said Cynthia. "I'll see you later." She then walks away, leaving the Eds staring at her.
"You just want to do it because you think it will make her like you." said Edd.
"You were thinking the same thing, sockhead." said Eddy. Edd looked away and blushed.
"Come on, you guys. We got Pokemon to help." said Ed.
"Ed's right. We have to bring that medicine to those Psyducks." said Edd.
"Fine. Let's go, boys." said Eddy as they went back to Pastoria City to the Pokemon Center where they had their bikes parked and rode off. They went through Route 212 to get to Hearthome City, taking on any trainers they find there as they do. Soon, Ed had Staravia out who was facing another trainer's Meditite.
"Staravia, use Wing Attack." said Ed. Staravia flies towards Meditite and strikes it with his wing, knocking it to the ground with swirly eyes. "You did it, Staravia." Staravia spreads his wings and he begins to glow.
"Ed, Staravia is evolving." said Edd. Ed watched as his Staravia began getting bigger. When the glowing stopped, Staravia now had red eyes and now had a red-tipped black crest extending over his head and reaching his beak.
"What is Staravia now, Double-D?" asked Ed.
"Let's find out." said Edd, taking out the pokedex and pointing it at the newly-evolved Staravia.
"Staraptor, the Predator Pokemon and the final form of Starly. The muscles in its wings and legs are strong. It can easily fly while gripping a small Pokemon." said the pokedex.
"Congratulations, Ed. And it seems by evolving, your Staraptor has learned Close Combat." said Edd.
"Cool." said Ed. Meditite's trainer returns Meditite to its pokeball, gives Ed pokedollars and walks to the direction of Pastoria City. The Eds continued travelling, battling more trainers and their Pokemon gaining more experience from the battles. As they continued travelling, Edd noticed his shoe was untied and stopped to get off his bike to tie it. As he finished tying his shoe, he looked under bushes next to him and saw what appeared to be a light green incense burner with purple markings on it.
"My word, I think that's a Rose Incense over there." said Edd.
"What does that do, Double-D?" asked Ed.
"It increases the power of grass type attacks of the Pokemon that holds it." replies Edd. "Why that would be very useful to my Roselia."
"Well what are you waiting for? Grab it." said Eddy. Edd reaches under the bush to try and grab it, but it was far out of his reach.
"I can't reach it." said Edd. He walks around the bushes to get to it, but stops when he sees a pond in his path. "Well it seems I can't walk over to it with this pond in the way. It seems I'll have to cut my loss and we should continue on our way. The Eds walk away and continue traveling until they reach the gate to Hearthome City. They cut through Hearthome City and made it to Route 210. They soon reached the group of Psyducks who were holding the sides of their heads. Eddy takes the bag containing the medicine and opens it. They see what appeared to be a bunch of herbs. "Why did she give us weeds?"
"I believe those are herbs. They must have headache-relieving properties." said Edd.
"Here you go, Psyducks. This stuff will cure your headaches." said Eddy as he distributed them among all the Psyducks. The Psyducks ate the herbs and after a minute, they take their hands off their heads and let out sighs of relief. They then walk off, opening up the path.
"Well that medicine worked quickly." said Edd. They turn at the sound of approaching footsteps behind them and see Cynthia walking towards them.
"Oh, good. You used the medicine I gave you." Cynthia said. "Psyducks suffer from chronic headaches. No one knows what triggers them."
"We were glad to help, Ms Cynthia." said Edd.
"Could I ask you to do something else for me?" asked Cynthia. Eddy quickly steps forward.
"You name it; we'll do it." said Eddy.
"I need you to deliver this Old Charm to my grandmother who lives in Celestic Town." said Cynthia as she pulls the Old Charm out of her pocket.
"Okay." said Eddy as he grabs the Old Charm and puts it in his pants pocket.
"Thank you, boys. The location should be on your Town Map so you can't miss it." said Cynthia.
"Celestic Town. Give the Old Charm to your grandma. Got it." said Eddy.
"Thanks, boys. I'll see you down the road." said Cynthia as she walks off.
"Can I carry that Old Charm in my pocket, Eddy?" asked Ed.
"Ed, the inside of your pocket has been mistaken for a garbage dump several times. I'm sure Cynthia would want the Old Charm delivered to her grandma, clean." said Eddy. Ed looks away and pouts.
"Anyway, let's be on our way, gentlemen." said Edd. The Eds hop on their bikes and head off towards Celestic Town. As they rode north, a thick fog suddenly appears, making it hard for the Eds to see where they were going.
"What's with this stupid fog?" asked Eddy.
"I'm not sure, Eddy. It just appeared out of nowhere." said Edd.
"I can't see anything, guys." said Ed.
"Wait. What about that Defog move for our HM App? I recall being told it can easily clear fog away." said Edd.
"Well what are you waiting for? Use it so we can get to Celestic Town." said Eddy.
"Very well." said Edd. He turns on his Poketch and brings up the HM App. He selects Defog and a Staraptor appears and blows all the fog away.
"Sweet. We can see where we're going now." said Eddy.
"Yes. Well let's be on our way." said Edd as they rode off towards Celestic Town.
