Chapter 155
After an emotional and passion filled day and night of making love, and a second try insemination, the Spencer-Rivera wives had no choice but to leave their honeymoon and the beautiful Island they had been on for the last week and head home. They were happy to be back to their children, and back to their home, but at the same time, they missed being able to fall into one another at any moment without worry of interruption. Within a few days however, they were back to their routine, working with their eldest children after getting Emma on the bus, dinner as a family, including Isabel and Clara, movie nights, game nights, and then falling into bed together, wrapped in each other's arms each night.
A month after their honeymoon, Isabel announced that she had decided to move into a small apartment in town. She loved being with her family, but she felt that Natalia and Olivia deserved to have their home to themselves with their family. She was thriving in her new position with SRHR and was ready to be on her own again. She offered for Clara to move in with her, but she declined, deciding to move into her own one-bedroom apartment in town.
She had started working thirty or more hours a week at the hotel and could afford her own place, especially since Olivia and Natalia had gifted her with a completely paid off new car for her birthday the previous week. She and Isabel both planned to move the following weekend, with the help of the family and a few of the staff members from the hotel.
All three hotels were thriving, Christian and Trinity had fallen into a great partnership in St. Louis and worked seamlessly together. Andrew was doing swimmingly in Chicago, and the Spencer-Rivera family were running Springfield and helping with both other properties as they always had, like a well-oiled machine.
Olivia and Natalia had tried again to get pregnant, since their first try didn't take. That was two weeks ago, and in a week they would be taking another test. They hadn't told their children yet, not wanting to get their hopes up. The night after helping Clara and Isabel move, they all camped out in the living room with movies until all three children were asleep and then the wives slipped off to their room and into each other.
It was five in the morning when Natalia woke with the urge to pee. She wasn't sure what made her do it, but she decided to go ahead and take the test. As she peed on the stick, she prayed that it would be positive. That she and Olivia would be pregnant with their fourth child to love and nurture.
She placed the stick on the counter, finished her business, and then washed her hands. She didn't get her phone to set a timer, so instead, she counted. As soon as she had counted slowly to sixty, three times, she took a deep breath and looked down at the stick. Within a second she was running from the bathroom, stick in hand, and jumping on the bed, waking Olivia with the movement as she bounced up and down.
Olivia's eyes shot open and she sat bolt upright. "What, what's wrong?" She said urgently. Before she even had time to fully look at her wife, the pregnancy test was being thrust at her face, Natalia smiling broadly and continuing to bounce on the bed. "Is this…are you…are we…."
"Yes!" Natalia exclaimed, launching at her wife, and kissing her wildly. "We are going to have a baby." She announced as she pulled back, still smiling from ear to ear.
Olivia pulled her wife into another heart stopping kiss. When she pulled back she whispered softly, "we're going to have a baby."
"Yes! We are going to have a baby honey." Natalia confirmed. And then she was lying flat on her back with Olivia on top of her, kissing her over and over again. When she finally pulled back, Olivia couldn't help but to scream loudly with excitement, and within a second, Natalia was joining her, both woman whooping and hollering in pure joy.
They didn't stop until there was a series of loud knocks on their locked bedroom door. Followed by the frantic shouts of their children. "Mom, Ma." Rafe. "Mommy, mama." Emma. "Mom are you guys o…"
Before Ava could finish her question, Olivia was yanking the door open and pulling her children inside. "Yes, yes, we are fine. More than fine. We are perfect." She said, hugging all of her children to her.
Ava pulled out of the hug and looked to their ma. "Ma, what's going on?"
Natalia hopped off the bed and joined her family in the middle of their bedroom. "Well…" She started and then reached for Olivia, who quickly wrapped her wife in her arms. "We have something to tell you guys, and, we hope you're as excited as we are about it."
Emma looked up at her moms, smiling because they were. "What is it?" She asked with innocence only a child could possess.
Olivia looked at each of her children, her wife, and then the bed, searching with her eyes for the pregnancy test. When she spotted it, sticking out of the tousled blanket, she quickly retrieved it and hid it in her hand as she came back to stand beside her love and wrapped an arm around her, kissing her cheek. "This." She stated simply, holding the positive test out for her children to see.
Ava was the first to know what she was looking at. "Is that…are you…" She stuttered.
Natalia shook her head and laughed. "You are so your mother's daughter."
Rafe figured it out next. "That's.. you guys are… really!?"
Olivia nodded, smiling wide. "Yeah bub, we are."
Emma was still looking at the stick with the word positive written in a small oval screen. "What?" She asked, not understanding what she was looking at.
Natalia picked her youngest up and held her tight. "Jellybean, how would you like to be a big sister?"
"Really. You and mommy are gonna have a baby?!"
"Yup." Olivia answered, popping the p. "That's what this says Jellybean. It says that your ma is pregnant. We are going to have another baby."
Emma smiled with her entire body. Her eyes lit up and her mouth almost split. "I'm gonna be a big sister?!" She exclaimed, wiggling from her ma's arms, and jumping up and down on the floor.
"I'm gonna be a big sister again!" Ava shouted, grabbing her baby sister, and tickling her sides.
"And I am still the coolest big brother ever. Now with another sibling to annoy." Rafe said, taking Emma from Ava and tossing her into the air.
Olivia looked to her wife smiling. "I think they are happy with the news."
Natalia turned to her wife and kissed her sweetly. "I think that's an understatement." She said, pulling Olivia to her and hugging her tightly. Before she could give her the kiss she had planned, they found themselves wrapped up in six more arms. Their babies all squeezing them together. The two locked eyes over their children's heads, communicating so much without words, and then they were stretching their necks and kissing for all they were worth, savoring this moment for all that it was.
They didn't know yet that Natalia would birth two beautiful babies, almost a month early, but still strong and healthy. A Boy, August "Gus" Gregory Spencer-Rivera. 5lbs 3oz and 17 inches long. Named after the man who saved Olivia with his heart and left her with his wife. The woman who would become her world, and after Olivia's father, one of few who ever actually loved Olivia Spencer just for being Olivia Spencer. And two minutes behind him came his sister, Maxine Isabel Spencer-Rivera. 5lbs 7oz and 18 inches long. Named after her late uncle and her Ma's sister, who had become so very important to their family.
They didn't know yet that Rick and his father, Ed, would work tirelessly to come up with a new heart medication that would extend Olivia's life to that of any other. Giving her the opportunity to watch her children grow. To be there five years later when Doris and Blake finally tied the knot. To watch as more houses were added to their property to hold their ever-expanding family as their children started families of their own.
They didn't know yet that their company really would become a household name with locations throughout the entire US. Making it possible for Ava to meet, Lucas. The sous chef turned head chef at their location in Tampa and bring him home to Springfield, where they would marry. Ava keeping her last name and Lucas taking it as well. The two building the first new addition to their property, and gifting them with their first two granddaughters. Maurine Natalia Spencer-Rivera and Mackenzie Olivia Spencer-Rivera. Both M's to honor their big brother and middle names to honor not only their grandmothers, but Natalia's heritage as well.
They didn't know yet that Rafe would indeed marry Ashley. Proposing to her on her graduation day from college and marrying not six months later. Or that he would be the face of SRHR, catapulting them into the thick of the hotel world, and into Forbes magazine within two years of taking over for his mom. Nor did they know that he and Ashley would build a second addition to their property and give them three more grand babies to dote on. Twin girls, Emery Doris Spencer-Rivera, and Avery Blake Spencer-Rivera. Named after Rafe's sisters and their other grandmothers, also upholding Rafe's heritage, and a boy, Nicholas Joseph Spencer-Rivera,. In honor of his grandfather and father, a tradition Rafe hoped his son would one day uphold.
They didn't know yet that Emma would graduate from college with a master's in modern medicine, helping to further improve on heart medicine before deciding that her own heart would always be in the hotel business, with the rest of her family. And she would put down her stethoscope and take her place beside her older siblings running SRHR. She would meet her wife, Alexa, at the purchase of their twentieth hotel, and marry her two years later. Moving into the barn apartment. The two adopting a perfectly heathy baby boy abandoned at the hospital seven months after their wedding. Oliver Nathanial Spencer-Rivera. After Emma's two mommies.
They didn't know yet that August and Maxine would graduate high school a year early. And they wouldn't be there when they graduated Oxford, both majoring in business and taking the UK by storm when they further expanded SRHR into the country. After which they would return home to take over the barn apartment while Emma and Alexa moved into Ava's house and Ava and Lucas moved into the farmhouse after their mother's passing. Starting a trend that would continue long into the future. One family member moving into the farmhouse as another passed. More houses then should be possible being built on the Spencer-Rivera property as Olivia and Natalia's grandchild married and birthed their great-grandchildren and so on and so on.
They didn't know yet that they would pass peacefully within minutes of each other, sitting cuddled together on the, refurbished several times over, bench on their front porch the summer after the twins first year at Oxford. All of their babies and grandbabies gathered together just inside the house, laughing, and playing, reminiscing about the years spent inside those walls. The family game nights and movie nights. The vacations and holidays. Carefree and at peace surrounded by the love that Olivia and Natalia had created.
As the alarm clock sounded, Faith Hill's 'This Kiss', blaring through the speaker, they ignored it, and just stayed there, lost in the love surrounding them. Because they didn't know any of that yet. They didn't know what their future would hold. How amazing it would be, and how much their family would grow and thrive and love together. All they knew was this moment, their children wrapped around them, a positive pregnancy test between them, and this kiss.
