This chapter is going to be long as hell bc I need to give you guys a proper chapter. I'm literally on a plane to a 49ers game as I'm writing this. This chapter is going to be kinda sad but don't worry no one dies...yet. ;) Enjoy the double chapter.
(1:30 am Gotham docks)
A shadowy figure scurried across a catwalk iron beam as maniacal laughter echoed below, the figures coming into view turned out to be two of the most feared villains in not only Gotham but most anywhere; the Joker and the Riddler. The figure stalking them from the shadows of the warehouse ceiling just so happened to be none other than Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl. "Oh shit I have to tell Bruce about this" she whispered to herself. She gingerly tiptoed to the hole in the ceiling where she slipped inside earlier. As she was about the pull herself out of the entrance she accidentally kicked over a loose piece of scrap metal off the roof and inwardly cringed as it clattered to the floor not three feet from the Joker below. Just as she pulled herself onto the roof a round of machine gun fire enveloped where she stood a moment earlier. "God fucking dammit what part of the secret location don't you understand Nigma, who the fuck was that" the Joker spat at the Riddler. "It's 1:30 am in Gotham City, who the hell do you think it was you ass" the riddler managed to spit out back. "Well now we have to move up our timeline don't we," the Joker said with quiet venom in his voice. " I want that seawall damaged and the city to have paid us the ransom by next week" the joker quietly yelled to his henchmen standing behind him. The riddler and joker then jumped into an unmarked white van and tore down the dimly lit street.
(The cave 9:30 am)
Artemis woke up from a particularly pleasant dream of her and a certain bird Brain who finally decided to ask her out last night. She groaned as she had no idea what in the hell she was going to wear. For a brief moment to Wally. How would he feel about her and Dick going on what she still couldn't believe was a date. She shook her head free of any thoughts about Wally, after all, he did accuse her of cheating, terrify her by screaming at her and leaving which unfortunately brought up memories of her father. She shuddered at the thought of sportsmaster and stood up and walked to her closet. She lost herself in thought for a moment as she rifled through her closet, 'there's no way I could've not seen how Rob-Nightwing had a crush on me since he was 13 is there?' She thought to herself. Even though she had initially chosen wally she had always thought Dick was incredibly attractive for his age, even though now he has grown up before everyone's eyes. She absent-mindedly was putting together an outfit as her mind wandered down the rabbit hole that was Dick Grayson. 'He must be at least 6'3 and at least 195 pounds of muscle by now' she thought, she wouldn't admit to herself that she always checked him in the gym as well as his Nightwing costume. When she finally finished her daydreaming she snapped out of it by noticing the outfit she put together. She had chosen an olive green crop top with an off-white cardigan and slightly ripped some gray jeans and brown boots and she surprisingly thought she looked half decent for once and hastily threw her hair up and started to walk to the hangar to meet Dick. As she turned into the last hallway before the hangar she literally bumped into the last person she expected or wanted to, Zatanna. "Ow, what the he- oh my god Artemis I'm so sorry I didn't see you are you ok?" Zatanna asked as she offered a hand to Arertims and pulled her up. " I'm fine I guess I was just lost in thought are you ok?" Artemis asked growing more annoyed as she noticed Zatanna was walking towards the hangar too and the pang of jealousy she felt the other day came back a lot stronger than she cared to admit. "Where are you headed Z," she asked a lot weaker than she expected. " I was actually looking for Nightwing, have you seen him?" Artemis' heart immediately sank as she knew she'd never be able to compare to Zatanna in Dick's eyes they've always had chemistry since she joined the team. " I-uhhh" she didn't get to finish her made-up response when the hangar door whooshed open and left the object of both women's eyes entered and smiled when he saw them. " hey I was looking for you all morning," he said with a goofily intoxicating smile. "Hey yourself what are you doing I thought we could-" Zatanna started to talk as dick cut her off mid-sentence. "I'm sorry Z I actually had plans with Artemis today." Artemis would be lying to herself if her heart didn't beat faster when he said that, plus the look of disappointment on Zatanna's face meant more than she thought it would. "Yea I kinda got distracted getting ready, did you decide where you're taking me bird brain," she said to dick with a smile. He smiled warmly and said "yes I did and it's a surprise" he responded with a smirk. As Artemis and dick walked through the hangar door together, neither of them noticed the death glare Zatanna was giving them both.
"So- um I wanted to ask you something" Dick nervously said as they climbed onto his Ducati motorcycle. "Yea what is it," she asked. She swore to god she saw Dick blush for a second, but when she blinked it was gone. "When you told me you knew I had a crush on you, did you know you had one too or were you just sad about wally?" Artemis sighed and looked into those piercing blue eyes," I would be lying if I said I dint have any kind of feelings toward you, we've known each other since highschool, and you've been there for me through so much and I lied to myself for so long I finally realized maybe I do have feelings for you I just don't know what they are yet Dick. But I really want to find out so can you hurry up and take me on this date already" she said with a blushing smile as she put her helmet on and climbed onto the bike behind him. Dick smiled like an idiot and said let me get my helmet. Artemis took this chance to see what dick was wearing. He was wearing a dark grey bomber jacket and white t-shirt with low hanging ripped blue jeans and tan combat boots. His jeans hung low enough that his upper body muscles definitely showed through his tight-fitting white shirt and could literally see every muscle and she swore she almost drooled. "Arty you ready" Dick chuckled as he smirked at Artemis. "My eyes are up here you know, now hurry up and get on. You might wanna hold on" he said smugly. Artemis got on the back of Dick's bike and wrapped her arms around..wow the most muscular torso she had ever felt, she could literally feel his abs through his shirt and she shook her head not believing this was Dick she was having devilish thoughts about. She was ripped away from her thoughts as Dick tore out of the cave's hangar and onto the streets of Happy Harbor. They flew down the highway for what seemed like hours bc it left Artemis timer to think maybe she did have a crush on Dick, he was charming, goofy, hot as hell, and had always been there for her and never judged her for anything. They started slowing down as they reached an absolutely gorgeous cliffside view with a few trees and a weathered old bench overlooking the ocean. They both stopped off his bike and Artemis was in shock at how beautiful the view was. "When I was Robin I used to come here to think and just sit sometimes," Dick said bluntly. "Open the storage on the bike I made a picnic I didn't know what you liked so I guessed but I know you hate salami so I made ham and cheese." He said while chuckling. "Hey, Dick can I ask you something," Artemis said shyly. "Anything 'mis go ahead," he said as he grabbed a sandwich. "Why did you take that stupid selfie of us at Gotham academy?". Dick almost dropped his sandwich as he looked down at the ground and then looked back up at Artemis and began to Speak.
