Kit's Adventures in Amestris

18. So you haven't told him yet

Summary: Kit has some news and she's been putting off telling Ed.

Haven't wrote in quite some time and while I do apologize I want to remind everyone that I write mostly for my own enjoyment. I've had some big changes in my life that I'm still adjusting with. In 2021 I moved states to live with my partner and early this year (2022) I got my first job and around that some time I found out I was pregnant. So writing really took a backseat.

Please remember that these one-shots have nothing to do with what will be happening with the plot of Where is my Mind? Mostly I'm writing these for myself but if there is anything you the readers would like to see in here, message me or leave a review voicing what you would like. I will try to make it happen!

If it's a little short don't dismay, these one-shots aren't supposed to be long. Just amusing.

Leave a Review so I know if these are any good. I love getting feedback, positive or negative doesn't matter as long as I understand what you're saying.

Enjoy!

...

She'd been sitting in the Rockbell's living room reading when she felt it. A sudden need to get up. Al was sitting nearby reading and occasionally glancing over at her. Lowering her book she inhaled deeply then exhaled slowly. The feeling passed and she continued reading.

Winry was currently back in Rush Valley. Ed was out running errands for Pinako, who was doing slight maintenance on Den's leg. Only Al and Pinako knew what was going on with Kit. Winry had no idea.

Kit lowered her book again, eyes wide. Dropping the book she made her way to the nearest bathroom. Stopping at the sink, she ran the cold water before gripping the sides of the porcelain and hunching over. Al, who'd been right behind her, held her hair out of the way and rubbed her back slowly as she released the contents of her stomach into the sink. With each wave her eyes watered and tears ran down her cheeks.

When it seemed to be over she used her right hand to splash the running water, watching carefully as she rinsed the vomit out of the sink. Al let her hair drop and get a hand towel ready for her.

"Oh… I am soo ready for this to be over." She groaned. Cupping water in her hand she brought it to her lips and swished it around to rinse her mouth. Then spit the fouled water out. She repeated this motion a couple times.

"Only a few months left, right?"

"Something like that. I'm not entirely sure." She smiled. Al's been so excited since he overheard her and Pinako talking about her condition.

"I'm back!" Echoed through the house following the sound of the front door flying open.

Her eyes widened and she dipped her head into the sink before loudly heaving once again.

"Kit?!"

"Bathroom!" Al shouted back for her.

Something could be heard clattering onto the floor as someone hurried to get to her.

She raised her head again when she felt it was finally over. Ed's face was in the mirror next to Al's. He was huffing a little from rushing to find her, concern written all over it. But, he cracked a small smile.

"Man, this stomach bug is really kicking your ass."

She whimpered in response, taking notice of Al's expression. He seemed to be surprised… and a little disappointed. Ed, on the other hand, chuckled and lightly pat her head.

"It's alright. I'll go put some tea on for you."

"Thanks… " She nodded and set about cleaning up and gargling more water. Her 'stomach bug' had been going on for quite awhile now. Sure, the throwing up had been on and off but it's been ongoing for a while.

As soons as Ed was out of earshot Al glared at her, "He thinks you have a stomach bug?"

"Technically it's not incorrect…"

"Technically it's not correct either Kit!"

"Alright, so I panicked! I haven't figured out how to tell him yet!" She threw her hands up after turning off the faucet. She accepted the towel he held to her while turning to face him properly and dried her hands and face.

"You panicked? You're pregnant! And brother thinks it's just a stomach bug! How do you think he'll react when a baby gets here?"

Kit and Al turned to see Ed approaching them, a small box in each hand. He definitely overheard Al.

"Hey… Is chamomile okay or would pe… Pregnant?!" He interrupted himself in shock, his eyes rolled back. Then with a loud thud she fell back onto the floor.

"You know… I think he'll react something like that actually." She sighed and hung the towel back up before making her way over to him. Sitting at his head she gently lifted his head onto her lap.

Al shook his head and bent over picking up the boxes Ed dropped as he collapsed. "Chamomile or peppermint?"

"Peppermint… and maybe some chamomile for him. He may need it as I probably should talk to him about it now…"

"You think?" He rolled his eyes and left the couple on the floor to finish the tea Ed had gotten started.

She stroked his hair and tried to figure out how to explain herself to him when he became conscious again. Faintly, she could hear Al talk to Pinako a few rooms away and she couldn't help but sigh.
