The Fog
So this is Silent Hill, huh? He thought.
He took a step forward, seeing himself in a New England town with a very innocuous rural town. The weather was pretty cool for this time of year, the landscape was mostly nature and fewer houses and businesses compared to the city of Amity Park. Overall, he saw it was peaceful.
He noticed a few people walking by, mostly couples and parents with children.
He smiled, finding it idyllic.
"Finally, a place to relax…" He said with a smile as he headed to grab a bite. He took notice of a restaurant down on what he read as Crichton Street, seeing the name. "Con-Amy Burger? Weird name… but whatever." He said.
As he went in, he had no idea something was watching him.
Danny, taking a bite, enjoying the food as he looked around, seeing people minding their business.
I've been in a crazy place like Amity Park for so long, it's almost weird seeing a quiet, normal town like this… He thought.
It was then he felt a tugging on the back of his shirt, causing him to stop. Turning his head, he saw it was a little girl in a little purple dress.
She had red hair with a gray-blue eye color and looked at him like she had seen something odd.
It was seconds before he responded to her.
"Uh… hi?" He asks.
"You aren't like the others, are you?" She asks.
Danny only stared at her.
"Uh… what?" He asks.
"A lot of people who come here act funny… but you don't. I saw you come here… but you've been here for an hour without acting funny." She said.
Danny blinked at her before noticing she was holding a strange pink rabbit doll. He also noticed how the head was tilted to look at him. It also had what he figured was ketchup on the muzzle.
"Uh… that's a cute… rabbit." He said.
"This is Robbie… He's my friend… But I don't think he likes you." She said.
"Uh… why?" He asks.
"Because the town doesn't like you... and you should leave soon." She claims.
Danny only blinked at this, but before he could ask, someone approached.
"Charlene?" The woman, also with red hair and wearing a pair of sunglasses asks.
"Mommy?" She asks.
"Let's not bother this young man, shall we?" She asks, picking her daughter up.
As they started walking, Danny got up.
"Wait." He called out, causing the mother and her daughter to look back. "What did she mean by saying that the town doesn't like me and that I should leave soon?" He asks.
To his surprise, the woman stared at him with a look of discretion, hinting she knows that something seems wrong.
"Oh, uh… I'm sure she's just… playing." She said before leaving.
As they left, Danny noticed the rabbit doll still looked at him.
Brushing it off, he resumed eating.
Long after that meal, he found himself walking further.
Not a bad burger, but the service there was terrible... He thought.
As he walked, he noticed an elderly postman was staring at him.
Danny didn't pay much mind until he noticed how this man looked almost horrified, like something was wrong.
He stopped in his tracks and decided to walk towards the old man.
"Is there a problem, sir?" Danny asks.
"You don't seem… like the usual tourist." He said.
"Uh… what does that mean?" Danny asks.
"Most people… they're drawn here. Whether they want to be here or not… they show up. But, you… you're young… different." He said.
"Uh… what?" Danny asks.
"You are not like the others... tourists... and some people might not like... an outsider here... at all. Bad things might happen if you aren't careful." The postman said.
"Uh… look, Mr…?"
"Howard. Howard Blackwood."
"Okay, listen, Mr Blackwood… I have no idea what you or that creepy kid were talking about." Danny said.
"I got no problem with you, son. I just wanna let you know… this town didn't call you, it didn't see anything about you that would make it want you… and you got something, I don't know what, that makes you like a cat in a town full of dogs. I don't want you to get hurt, so I suggest you leave…" He said, sounding like he's afraid for Danny's life before leaving.
Danny watched Howard leave, with he himself left standing alone, clueless of what the old man was talking about.
What did he mean? Danny thought before walking.
As he made his way, he heard something.
It sounded faint, but it was clear what it was. It sounded like a siren. He looked around, not seeing the source of that sound. He also noticed something seemed wrong with his eyes. His vision was getting blurred with flashes of gray, almost like a fog that flickered yet was at a low opacity. He rubbed his eyes, but it did nothing. Soon, it stopped. His vision was normal and the siren sound disappeared.
He felt some was wrong as he noticed a young woman with short blonde hair passing him, dressed with an orange-striped shirt with jeans. She didn't look like she heard that.
"Uh, miss?" He asked.
She stopped to give Danny a quick glance.
"A little young for me, don't you think?" She asks playfully.
"Huh? Oh, no… I was just… did… Did you hear that?" He asks.
"Hear what?" She asks.
"It sounded like a horn or a siren." He said as she shook her head.
"No." She said.
"Okay… uh… did you see a fog or something?" He asks.
"Nope."
"Oh… okay… sorry to bother." He said as she walked away.
Once she was gone, Danny sent her a suspicious look. He scratched the back of his head before someone pushed him aside as they ran.
"Move!" This other person, a woman, said as she ran past him.
Danny frowned at her.
"Hey, watch-" He stopped upon noticing amiss with her.
She wore what looked like skin tight jeans, a white wife beater shirt and brown shoes. She was a brunette with long, somewhat curly hair. He also noticed something about her body language.
She kept looking back, having a terrified look in her eyes as she panted, looking like she ran a mile before shaking head and continuing on.
"Get away from me!" She called out.
Danny looked back, seeing no one around.
"Who was she running from?" He asked as he got up.
Before he could go, he noticed from a distance the woman with her daughter, Charlene, were both not far. The mother shook her head while the daughter seemed lost.
"She's running from the Bogeyman!" Charlene was heard saying.
"Sweetie, remember our talk." Her mother chided.
Curious what they meant, Danny decided to follow the woman, just to see if she needed help.
This town might be weird but I gotta help that lady… He thought as he ran in the direction she fled.
He ran behind a nearby tree, made sure that no one was nearby and changed forms. He then took to the skies.
Where is she? He thought, worried she might be hurt or something. However, as he kept flying, he noticed fog started to appear around the town. Okay, this is getting creepy...
It was then he saw her, the same young woman, running for her life and running past everyone around, with people not reacting to her at all.
"Leave me alone, Brian! Leave me alone!" She cried out as she ran into an alleyway, where a very heavy amount of fog was.
Danny decided he would meet her on the other end and flew there. But once he did, he found something amiss.
It was empty.
"Huh?!" He went, looking around. "Miss?!"
He flew upward, observing the alleyway from below. He saw no sign of the young woman.
Okay, this is getting weirder but I can't leave that lady running around like someone's attacking her… He thought as he saw no sign of her outside.
That's when he noticed the fog was still at the entrance to the alleyway.
"I saw her go into that fog…" He reasoned as he decided to follow.
He would soon realize that it was a mistake.
What? Where am I? He thought as he looked around.
The town looked exactly the same, although he noticed something. The people were gone. The town looked abandoned. But most of all, the fog was somehow greater than before. It looked thicker.
He hovered a few feet off the ground, trying to see a sign of the woman.
That's when he heard the scream and bolted in that direction.
"I'm coming!" He called out.
As he flew, a figure watched him go from a distance. A figure that knew he was not meant to be here.
He heard the scream, coming from what looked like a monastery.
"Get away from me, Brian!" She shouted.
He flew fast, going through the wall.
"Miss?!" He called out.
That's when he saw her, leaning on the wall as something big and heavy was walking towards her.
"Why won't you leave me alone?!" She cried out in anger. When the figure didn't answer her, she continued. "Haven't you ruined my life enough?! Why can't you accept that I don't want to see you anymore?!"
Danny turned invisible and landed, wondering who she's talking to. Once he saw the figure enter the light, he saw them.
He saw a hulking figure with a gas mask, wearing some kind of rain jacket-like wardrobe, with heavy gloves and boots, and carried a large hammer. This figure breathed heavily as they approached her.
"Well, say something! Or at least take off that damned mask!" She shouted. The figure only stared at her and she grew more impatient. "Say "Okay Elisha" or something like that! Just look me in the eye before you do whatever it is you want to do instead of acting like some Bogeyman!"
The masked figure did as she demanded, lifting their mask
Bogeyman… Danny thought, remembering what the girl said.
He then watched the masked man show himself. Elisha gasped sharply.
"I knew it… it's you…"
Danny looked to see what she did, only for something odd to happen.
To Elisha, she saw whoever this Brian was; an ex-boyfriend, a stalker, or something in between, given her wording suggested this figure was interested in her. But to Danny, he saw nothing. He saw no face, only some kind of empty void with an almost glitch-like pattern before this Bogeyman put the mask back on.
"What…?" He asked himself.
''That's just like you, Brain. Now leave me alone! I told you I want you out of my life! You almost killed my brother just to get to me! Just go away!" Elisha yelled as the figure got closer to her. "No! Please… not again!" She cried out, leaning on the wall as if she wanted to climb it.
"No time for stealth!" Danny said before he flew in and tackled the Bogeyman before they could attack her.
Elisha gasped.
"W-What?!" She asked, seeing Danny there. She felt her legs no longer frozen and made a break for it. "I'm getting the hell out of here!"
Once she left, she disappeared into the fog.
Danny blinked in surprise, seeing her disappear before looking at the Bogeyman.
"Who or what are you? And what did you want with that woman?" He shouted.
The Bogeyman made no sound, only looked at him as if there was rage behind the mask.
Suddenly, that siren sound happened again and something odd happened.
Why do I get the feeling that the fun's not over yet… Danny thought pessimistically.
The world of fog was disappearing, almost like it was peeling away. In its place was a similar location, but covered in grime, rust, corroded stone, duller lighting and a strange red tint
He was stunned to say the least by the very random event that just happened.
"What just happened?" Danny asked.
As he tried to make a break for it, the Bogeyman slammed his hammer into the ground, causing a huge crack that reached his feet, causing him to fly up.
The Bogeryman seemed different now. Instead of slow and methodical like the woman's apparent stalker or former lover playing games, it was acting aggressive. It was as if Danny became a target of its hate.
"Easier there, Dude…" Danny said, glaring at the masked man.
The Bogeyman did not listen, instead threw the hammer at its target.
Thinking fast, Danny zipped to the left to avoid it and grab it by the hilt.
He then tossed the hammer at the feet of the Bogeyman, who did not react to it it, just staring at Danny the entire time.
"Any chance you can just knock it off and leave the lady who clearly doesn't wanna go on a date with you alone?" Danny asks. In response, the Bogeyman picked the hammer back up and got into position not unlike a slasher villain with a farming tool, ready to hut Danny, who realized what the answer is. "I'm gonna assume that's a no."
Little did he know, someone was watching him from outside. Someone with a strange object on their head and a large knife the size of a sword.
