The Never Ending Rain

Chapter Eight

A loud scream scorched the sky as the massive spider leg dropped between Annabeth and Nautica.

"One down, seven more to go," Nautica said.

"Yeah, but this is taking too long," Annabeth said between breaths.

Glancing over at Mave, Nautica watched as she helped Grover up. She then looked at Yolanda, who was trying to shake off her exhaustion as she struggled to keep standing. Causing Nautica to shake her head.

"Got any other ideas?" Nautica asked.

"Yeah, rip its head off," Annabeth replied.

"And how are we going to do that?"

Annabeth remain silent until Percy laid a hand on her shoulder. She looked at him and noticed a smile across his lips.

"Oh, I think I know how we can do it, but I am going to need everyone's help."

Moments later, as the rain continued pouring, but it didn't land on Percy or the others. In fact, the drops in the air and water on the pavement circled around Percy. A blue light line his body as Nautica and Annabeth ran toward everyone else.

Yolanda glanced back at Percy.

"I take it we got a plan," Yolanda said.

"Yup," Annabeth said, followed with a smile.

"Uh oh," Grover said, shaking his head.

"Don't tell me," Yolanda said.

"Yeah, we're gonna rip its head off," Nautica replied.

Mave chuckled, "Okay, let's do this."

Everyone nodded as encircled around the spider, keeping its attention on them. Annabeth stood in front of Percy, glancing back at him from time to time.

As more and more water wrapped around Percy, he extended his arms wider apart as the water slowly formed into a big rope with a large loop at the end. Nodding to Annabeth, Percy twirls the loop in the air as Annabeth shouted.

"Now!"

Nautica stood on the right side of the spider while Everyone else stood behind Percy, grabbing the rope as he threw the loop over the spider's neck. Everyone held on tight and pulled while Nautica jumped high in the air, glowing as she pulled out her sabers.

As everyone else screamed, pulling as hard as they can Nautica sliced a massive hole in the spider's neck before running to join the others.

The spider roared as it tried to back up and wiggle itself free, but all it could do was shrill in agony. With one more pull, they all fell backwards. The spider's body collapsed on the ground next to its head.

Cheers rang out from everyone. As the rope turned back into normal water, even the rain stopped as well. Their victory was cut short when Eric was back on his feet. Pulling out their weapons, ready for one last fight, Percy held his arms up and shook his head.

Walking toward Eric, he noticed a pair of feet behind him. A young woman with long blond hair and sea-blue eyes walked out from behind Eric. He leaned on her shoulder as she kept him from falling.

"Elise," Percy said, looking her right into her eyes.

Elise merely nodded as she looked behind him at everyone else.

"Stand down everyone, it's over," Percy replied.

Glancing at each other, Yolanda placed her staff in the sheath on her back while everyone else put their weapons away, too.

"Good call, son," a familiar voice said from behind them.

Percy turned as Poseidon walked toward them, leaning heavily on his trident. Percy nodded while Nautica and Mave bowed.

Eric blinked his eyes as he tried to move toward Percy, but Elise pulled him back. Staring at Elise, she shook her head.

"You all I have left, I can't lose you too," Elise said, gently caressing his cheek.

Looking at Poseidon, who laid a hand on Percy's shoulder, Elise nodded.

"You truly are something else, Percy Jackson," Elise paused. "Such courage and determination. I wish I could have that someday."

"Come back with me to Camp Half Blood. Chiron would be more than willing to teach you both," Percy said.

A faint smile spread across Elise's lips as she shook her head. "Thank you for the offer, but our hearts are filled with too much rage and sadness, perhaps another time."

Leaning on Eric's shoulder with tears in her eyes, she bowed slightly. "I will work on cleaning everything up. May our paths cross again."

Bowing once more, Elise twirl her hands in the air as both she and Eric disappeared.

The buildings, street and cars slowly disappeared, leaving a vast meadow with trees on the outskirts. The sun broke through the clouds as rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning disappeared.

A content sigh escaped Percy's lips as he felt the sun's warmth upon his skin. Annabeth, Grover and Percy high five each other, then gave Yolanda a hug. Laughing, Yolanda hugged them back.

Annabeth extended her hand out to Nautica, who shook it as both women nodded. Mave smiled as Nautica looked away in a huff, causing everyone to laugh.

"We make a good team," Percy said to Yolanda.

"Indeed, here," Yolanda said, handing Percy a piece of paper.

Looking at the paper, Percy nodded as he put the paper in his pocket. "I'll put the number in my phone when I get back. Percy's eyes widen when a thought came to mind. "We should leave. It'll take us a while to get home."

"Nonsense. I'll take the three of you back," Poseidon replied.

Mave bowed and stepped forward." You're still weak sire, I shall do it,"

Poseidon nodded, looking at Percy. He limped back over to him till he was standing in front of him.

"I am proud of you, son."

"Thank you, father,"

Yolanda clapped her hands as all eyes looked in her direction.

"Well, before we all go your separate ways, how about we head back to my place for a meal?" Yolanda suggested.

"Sure, why not? Let's go!" Percy shouted.

Mave and Nautica waved their hands as they all disappeared in a puff of blue smoke.

Elsewhere, Elise and Eric were trudging along a sandy beach. Stopping, she helped Eric lay down before laying beside him.

Inching his hand toward his sister, Eric hissed in pain but didn't stop till his fingers touched hers. He tried to turn his head to look at Elise, but all he could do it is look up at the sky. Yet he noticed it was looking darker than it did before.

"Sis, the sky..." Eric tried to say.

Else sat up. She looked over at Eric and bit her lips as she wiped away a few tears. His wound was still bleeding, even though she wrapped it as much as best she could. Swallowing hard, she took a hold of Eric's hand, squeezing it tightly.

"I'm here brother, the sky looks wonderful."

A smile spread across Eric's lips as a cough followed. Elise couldn't blink away the tears fast enough, for they blurred her vision. Rocking gently, she forced a sob to remain in her throat.

"Please, someone save my brother..."

As Eric closed his eyes, a hand touched his cheek and moved up to his forehead. Turning to her right, a smiling woman with long sliver white hair and sky-blue eyes looked right back at her.

"This doesn't look good, here let me help," the woman said, placing her hand over Eric's soaked bandages.

A white light emulated from the woman's hand and within a few moments she removed her hand as the bandages shivered up and turned to dust. Blowing it away, the woman stood up.

Elise couldn't believe it. Looking down at her brother, she noticed his chest rise and fall as light snores escaped his lips. Smiling, she stood up bowing to the woman.

"Thank you. You do not know how much this means to me," Elise said.

"The woman smiled. "I do. You both have a second change now don't waste it."

Looking back down at her brother, Elise smiled. She turned back to the woman, hoping to get her name, but she was gone. Elise kept smiling as she looked out upon the ocean.

We won't...
