Trigger warning: Punch in the face, blood, slight unconsciousness
Anakin wasn't ready for what he saw.
He wasn't ready to see Ahsoka on the floor with blood coming out her nose and a cut on her forehead, a hand gripping her ribs and her eyes swollen.
But most of all, he wasn't ready to see her father - Mark - the person she always said was just to busy to be there for her - stand over her with an empty bear bottle in his hand.
For once though, it seemed luck was on their side. Mark had his back turned to him, so when he lifted the bottle to hit Ahsoka - his little Ahsoka - he didn't even have to think about what he was about to do.
Anakin ran up to him, grabbed his arm before he could even think straight and before Mark even had the chance to hit Ahsoka and growled in a deep voice: "You do not want to do that."
Out of the side of his view he could see Ahsoka shocked to see him here but Anakin was to preoccupied to care. He took the bottle out of her fathers hand and punched him in the face. With every ounce of strength he possessed in his entire being.
The crunch he heard from his nose made any trouble he'd get worth it a million times. Mark stumbled back and looked shocked for a moment. But a moment was all he needed before he assessed the situation and tried to run. He opened the door and was about to run outside when the police stood right on front of him.
Anakin sat down next to Ahsoka. "Snips, please. Ahsoka, open your eyes." Ahsoka groaned and slowly her eyes opened to look up at him. She took his hand and Anakin tried to pull her even closer than she already was. They sat like that for a while.
The police came up to them and someone decided they needed to call an ambulance because after a while Anakin could hear sirens. He picked his sister up and carried her to the car waiting on them. Together they went inside and sat down.
"Who are you to her?" Anakin was so preoccupied with Ahsoka that didn't even think when he answered. "I'm her brother."
No questions were asked as they drove to the hospital, checking on a cut Ahsoka had on her forehead. She didn't talk at all. She was silently crying but kept her arms wrapped around Anakin.
They arrived at the hospital and Ahsoka was taken away so Anakin had no choice but to sit in the waiting room. He called Padme while he was waiting and told her that they'd be back soon and that he was sorry.
"It's fine, Ani. How is Ahsoka?" "I don't know yet. They still have her in the emergency room. But someone should update me soon."
They finished up their conversation and then Anakin was left to his own thoughts. That could've gone so wrong. He started freaking out a little but then someone came to see him.
"Hello, my name is Plo Koon from social services. I hear you were the person who brought Ahsoka Tano in?"
Anakin froze for a second. Social Services?
"Yes, sir. She is my sis- a very close friend. Is something wrong?"
Plo Koon smiled and said: "No, not for now. A doctor will come and let you see her soon. She is fine and can be taken home today but she doesn't have somewhere to go to at the moment. So we would ask you to take her in. At least for this next week. We can take her off your hands soon. Is that okay with you?"
Anakin sighed in relief. "Of course. I would love to take her in..." He paused and thought. Maybe this was his chance to help her for good. "...is there a way to make it permanent?"
Ahsoka groaned and sat up. Her entire body was aching but she was fine. Where was Anakin?
"Ahsoka!" Ah, there he is. Ahsoka smiled at him and was genuinely happy again. Anakin discharged her and together they left - him walking and her in a wheelchair - out and to his car.
He drove them home. (Maybe Ahsoka would've realised that she called Anakins place home, but she was in too much pain.)
When they reached the house, Anakin stopped the car and looked at her. His eyes were sad but genuine.
"Snips... Ahsoka. I am so sorry it took so long for me to do something. I knew you were hurting and I didn't do anything and I'm sorry. I am also sorry that you've had such a bad childhood."
Ahsoka looked up at Anakin. He's come to be the most important person in her life - other than Rex of course - and he is still here for her. Maybe her luck was turning around.
"It was never your fault. You did everything you could and everything you had to do. But because of you, I survived and enjoyed living again. So thank you."
Anakin smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Your welcome."
After a while he got up and left the car. He brought the wheelchair around and rolled Ahsoka in the house. Padme came rushing out of the kitchen directly to them and hugged Ahsoka.
She said something about I'm so sorry, Ahsoka and I love you so much.
They sat down on the couch, Padme brings out tee she, and Obi-wan, already cooked and waited for Obi-wan to make dinner.
After a while of Ahsoka laying in Anakins arms, they ate dinner and then started to watch a movie. She couldn't remember what movie it was, but she did remember cuddling up to her family, feeling warm and loved and for the first time in a long time, completely safe.
