Hey guys, I'm back. It's been 2 weeks...

I'M SO SORRY!!!

I had to deal with family problems (and school). My uncle went missing, we had to call the police to find him, they eventually found him, and now he's in the hospital again... and during all of that, I completely forgot about this story...

Enough about me.

YAY!! STORYTIME!!!

As Saria led Link and Navi through the Lost Woods, Link noted how... different it was from Kokiri Forest. There were so many winding paths that went to other places, the air was heavier, and it gave off a feeling of unease.

The biggest difference, however, was the smell. While Kokiri Forest had always smelled like, well, the forest, the Lost Woods smelled... Link couldn't think of a word to describe it. Musty?Rancid? Whatever it was, it was unpleasant.

"We're here!" Saria called.

Link looked up to see a large clearing. It was oddly... square shaped and there was an opening in the wall that led farther into the woods. It was amazing.

"Whoa... Saria, where are we?"

"This... is the entrance to the Sacred Forest Meadow. I found this place a long time ago, and it's kinda become my special spot. I usually come here to play my ocarina, though you have to go through a maze to get to the back."

"So, the maze is through that opening? What's at the end?"

"I'll show you! Besides, that's where I saw the sword!"

After venturing about halfway through the maze, they came across a little opening in the wall. Link looked around and saw something glittering in the grass. He walked over to it and saw the sword laying there.

It was not too large, small enough to be called a dagger, but the blade looked sharp. The hilt, which had a jewel(ruby?) embedded into it, looked to be made of a sturdy wood or maybe a metal of some sort, and the grip had rubber wrapped around it. All in all, it was a pretty basic weapon.

(AN: That description was based on what I could tell from the in-game model. Hope it works for you.)

Basic or not, it was exactly what Link was looking for.

"Yes! I got it!"

He was about to run off when Saria called out to him.

"Link, wait! I still have to show you the Sacred Forest Meadow!"

Grumbling, Link followed.

.

After a few more twists and turns, the trio made it to the back of the maze, where Link noticed a ladder that led above, presumably a shortcut back to the forest.

Then, he saw the tree. Or, rather, he felt the tree. When he looked, however, Link realized that it wasn't the tree, it was... a cave next to the tree that emanated a feeling that Link didn't like. The cave didn't seem to have a way up to it though, unless he decided to climb the tree.(wow, I said 'tree' a lot in that paragraph)

"Welcome to my secret place, Link! This is the Sacred Forest Meadow. I feel..." Saria said, "This place will be very important for both of us someday. That is what I feel. And Link? Sorry for keeping you from your meeting."

Link's eyes widened. "The meeting! Oh no, the Deku Tree's gonna be mad that I was so late!"

Link arrived back at the forest to find Mido, who was still blocking the way, talking to Fado.

"–and I said to him, 'Wow, you actually did that?' Then, he told me about what happened the other day and let me tell you, it was–"

"AHEM"

Mido stopped bragging, and slowly turned around, surprised, when Fado called out,

"Hi Link!"

"Hey Fado." Link replied, "So Mido, are you gonna keep gawking at the mere sight of me, or are you gonna let me through?"

"..."

"..."

"..."

Finally Mido exploded.

"Wha?- HOW DID YOU GET THERE?! YOU SCARED ME, LINK!"

"Well then, you should be more aware."

That's when Mido noticed the sword and shield on Link's back.

"Eh? What's that? Oh, you have a Deku Shield. IS THAT THE KOKIRI SWORD?! How did you find that? I thought I hid it perfectly! GOOD GRIEF!

...Well a wimp is still a wimp, huh?"

"Mido! That's not nice! And Link... why did you need all that stuff in the first place?" Fado asked

'Well, this'll get an outburst from her...' Link thought.

"I was summoned by the Great Deku Tree, but Mido here decided that it would be a good idea to make me do some errands before he let me past."

Boy, was Link right.

"HE WHAT??!!"

Mido paled, "He was making fun of me!"

"So? He was summoned by the Great Deku Tree and you just said no??!!" Fado ranted, "If the Great Deku Tree wants to see Link, you let him see Link, not make Link do errands for you!"

And with that, Fado grabbed Mido by his tunic and dragged him off.

As Mido was being dragged away, he couldn't resist throwing one last insult at Link.

"Hmph! I, the great Mido, will never accept you as one of us!" *SMACK* "OW! Fado..."

.

Link stood there, stunned. He knew Mido could be mean, but that...

That hurt.

Navi (omg, I totally forgot about her) flew out of Link's hat with a solemn look on her face.

"Link... are you okay?"

"...I'll manage... come on. Let's go."

.

Upon walking a bit farther, they reached the Great Deku Tree's grove.

"Great Deku Tree... I'm back!"

The Great Deku Tree... he was massive! Even though Link had seen him before, his size always amazed him. The Deku Tree then spoke.

(AN: I took the text directly from OoT 64)

"Oh... Navi... Thou hast returned... Link... Welcome... Listen carefully to what I am about to tell thee..."

...

"Thy slumber these past moons... Wait... I cannot speak like this anymore. It is too annoying. I have decided that from now on, I shall speak like a hylian."

The abrupt change in his voice snapped Link out of his daydream.

He looked around to find himself standing in front of the Great Deku Tree (and Navi), who was waiting patiently for Link to come to his senses.

"Thy slumber these past moons must have been restless, and full of nightmares... As the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and causes nightmares to those sensitive to it... Surely, thou hast felt it... Link... The time has come to test thy courage... I have been cursed... I need you to break the curse with your wisdom and courage. Dost thou have the courage to undertake this task?"

The Great Deku Tree was in trouble! Link felt like he had to do this. He nodded.

Satisfied, the Deku Tree opened his mouth.

"Then enter, brave Link, and thou too, Navi... Navi the fairy... Thou must aid Link... And Link... When Navi speaks, listen well to her words of wisdom..."

Sharing a glance, Link and Navi entered the Great Deku Tree...

That's a wrap!!

Writing the Deku Tree's dialogue felt wrong.

As I was writing it my brain was like, "STOP! STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? IT'S WRONG, FIX IT!"

Soo yeah.

I'll try not to disappear for 2 weeks this time. I can't promise anything, but I'll try.

Cya!
