"Months have passed since Omni Man's leaving of the city and the planet, many people didn't know whether he'd be back to try and attack Earth. Though the threat has passed being filled by new ones every day such as criminals, monsters and other types of beings seeking power. Meanwhile for Mark he didn't want any of it, all he wanted was to try and have somewhat of a normal life. With his mom now single and trying to have a relationship with Eve who's been actively using her powers to help the world then just fighting but helping the environment. Topping it off is his friends still learning about Earth was and been continuing their hunt for the outlaws they let escape. All in the while trying to pass high school, so far his life was a metal bar trying to not bend into a pretzel."
Mark's Neighborhood
Things have gone rather calm at the homes where Mark's neighbor's lived in and especially that of how it's being monitored by GDA agents around in houses for precaution if Omni man or any other hostile threaten the people. Right now in Mark's house he was dealing with a unnatural threat, a alien teacher as Professor Strickler who had been given a human disguise by Wrench to help him learn about the many threats out in space.
"I really didn't think you'd be my teacher, or come here unannounced and try to give me a lesson about people I might have to eventually face."
Mark stating how this was his day off and was going to help his mother with changing the house with a few adjustments. However it got interrupted by the stranger who happened to be the new alien that had joined Sledge's crew. Hitting the side with a metallic pointer, Strickler made the young adult yelp of how loud it was and making him jump at the same time.
"Nonsense! When I was told about you being a Viltrumite it was imperative in educating you one the hierarchy of power and strength in space."
The professor telling him as well the two weren't alone as Debbie was at the table watching the studying moment. While she would step her foot into this matter and show how scary a mother could be when it came to the education of her child, this seemed important.
"Just remember he isn't going to space. He's staying here on earth, and don't try to convince him otherwise."
Sounding serious towards the alien as Strickler did a quick bow agreeing to her request as he was only to educate Mark, not tempting him. Pointing at the television screen at the side he somehow changed the screen to show a image of the Viltrumites.
"On my travels of educating criminals into being masterminds of tomorrow, I've happen to come across the people who survived these beings."
Stating to Mark as the screen showed a recording of the human looking aliens wearing nothing but white uniforms. Which showed the same powers that he had, such as incredible strength and flight as they mowed down planets and alien soldiers with the most advance weaponry.
"While I consider Sledge to be a aggressive creature, these warriors are hard headed and impossible to reason with unless they had something to gain."
Informing about that Sledge was thick skulled and hard to calm down, these people weren't so easy on diplomacy and would often start fights and conquer anything that stood in their way. Mark felt more glad he was half human seeing that if he was raised by Viltrumites, he might have ended up like his farther. Noticing how he wasn't paying attention, the professor quickly hits the side of the television screen changing the image quickly.
"However! They are muscle in the galaxy, and muscle will not always win! Intelligence will always dominate the weak minded, such as the Machine Empire!"
Shouting out as Mark looked confused on how there was another type of alien race that might be a threat. Watching the screen he saw that of robotic humanoids that had their own type of army that was conquering half of the planets around their part of the galaxy.
"Both having brute force and intelligence, they've always upgraded in order to survive. But! They don't travel to other parts so they could start a war with another empire."
Giving him a helpful note that he might not need to worry about the Machine Empire since they might want to face the Viltrumites. Changing the screen again Mark merely got annoyed of how no matter what aliens he would have to meet, the planet would be able to stop them.
"Is this really important? If there's another group of world conquering aliens wouldn't be coming. Then what's the point in knowing this?"
Mark questioning about that even if there were more aliens out in the universe that are threatening and wouldn't try to come to Earth. It didn't seem to matter, however for Debbie lowered her head that he wasn't thinking about this seriously.
"Because you need to know what might come, which was something I had to face after learning about the guardians. While I pray everyday for nothing like that comes, I need you to be ready if anything happens."
Explaining to him that while she often believed that when Nolan was here things were safe and would often try to show him how humanity was like. She'd often be blind at how things were to calm and safe, having learning the truth of Nolan. She wouldn't let Mark make the same mistakes, as the two merely shared a moment. Strickler merely coughed softly trying to get their attention at how they were still doing a discussion.
"I must say that's a sad but excellent example, because. There is one extraterrestrial threat that is both unpredictable and dangerous."
Stating to the two how if they would need to be ready for a serious threat, it would have to be one that could visit the Earth at any type if it was in his range. Changing the screen it showed a mysterious symbol of a letter, a 'Z' that showed up in electricity. The two stared at the symbol along how there was a sinister feeling coming from within them like if it was a sign to be ready for anything.
"This symbol. Belongs to what most civilizations call him as 'Emperor of Evil'. None have seen his face or any type of appearance, his only trading card is the destruction he leaves. As well this letter."
Pointing at the metal shaped letter which made Mark feel rather uncertain if he should prepare for this 'emperor' or not since he might not even come to Earth. However with a hint of how unpredictable as well dangerous, he could visit the planet just to cause destruction. With his thoughts running about, the three heard the door knocking as it caused the Professor to revert into his alien form.
"Shit! It must be Sledge, I knew that hunter of a fool would betray me."
Thinking that the bounty hunter would try and turn him in for money, preparing his tattling gun making sure he was ready for a fight. Debbie stopped him as she wasn't going have her house turn into another destroyed house, Mark calming the two down he walked over still on his toes about what might be going on. Opening the door he noticed a surprise visit from Eve, who seemed a bit from how there was a teacher themed creature in the room.
"Let me guess, one of Sledge's 'friends'?"
Asking about how from his unique appearance as well not being made here on Earth it seemed he was with Sledge's crew. However Mark breathed in at how this wasn't like that as she lets her in seeing he didn't expect her to pop by to check up on him.
"Hi Mark, Ms. Debbie. And someone I don't know."
Making her greetings to the trio as she walked in to check up how things were going. Debbie looked at Strickler as she had him go to the side seeing how Eve was a friend, as well someone who might be the only one to make Mark happy.
"I wanted to stop by to see cause there's been something going on at my forest. I thought Sledge would be here since it might involve one of his 'people', no offense."
Explaining about how her home was possibly being invaded by one of Sledge's escaped aliens from the ship. Along apologizing to the professor since he seemed to be a friend to Mark since he wasn't doing anything violent to him or his mother. Mark getting curious wanted to see what she meant as Eve walked over to turn on the television screen, which showed what appeared to be the forest where she was living. However it became a maze with the tree's and environment molded into one colossal maze, while it was a amazing feat of how this was possible they heard Strickler pointing at the screen in a surprised manner.
"I recognized that work! It's that over confident stooge Puzzler. He was always pulled out of the cells to play chess with Wrench, along talk about how he was the best in over ten galaxies of games."
Deducing who was behind this plot as the three could tell from the alien how well the being was and what he could do to the forest. Eve looked at Mark to see if he could help out with the situation, he turned to his mother to see if it was alright to go with Eve to handle this matter.
"It's alright Mark. While I'd be worried if you were going to Mars or even that invasion, this is more to your level. And that you have Eve to accompany you."
Debbie stating of how this didn't seem life threatening but more of a alien trying to mess around with the forest. Mark merely sighs at the last part since the two had started to go out, while Eve merely smiled a bit due to how she didn't expect her making a joke.
"We're both able to look out for one another. And that whoever this 'Puzzler' is won't stand a chance."
Trying his best to make up for the comment about needing Eve to keep a eye on him as he decided to head up and get suited up. Meanwhile for the Professor, he took a moment to study the red headed human as Eve merely had her eyes flash a quick pink shine over them and aiming at Strickler in a attempt to keep away.
"Genius! You are one of the first humans I've met with a unique genetic DNA. Unlike the Viltrumite boy who will get stronger when angry, yours is quite unpredictable and will become remarkable."
He shouted as he seemingly declared her more special then Mark as she merely got surprised at being admired while Debbie pulled the alien away as he was embarrassing the girl. Mark coming down in his Invincible uniform, he noticed how Strickler was acting up. With the lesson finished he decided to make a quick call to Sledge to pick up the professor and grab Wrench along the way seeing that he could make this fight go quick since the two have history.
Later-Eve's Forest
Dropping off the professor and picking up Wrench along the way, the trio made their way towards the forest where the blue robot was being brought up about what was happening and how it involved his own game buddy. Holding onto the side of Invincible, Wrench was doing a scan over the forest seeing how this was Puzzler's work.
"Woah. I mean it was normal that he could make mazes out of anything, however they needed to be in a small area like a building. This has to be the work of the dimensional void missile when we arrived to Earth. Which might be possible that he could do almost anything with the maze."
Referring to the weapon that Snide stole which sent them here to Earth along had them result in change of both appearances and powers. If that was the case then Puzzler would be much of a challenge then what they thought as the three continued to observe the forest design maze.
"Well whatever game he's trying to start it's not going go any further since he should have figured out who looks after the forest."
Invincible stating since Eve was the one that protected the environment as Eve merely chuckled at how he was trying to support her for the fight coming up. However the moment got stopped by hitting what felt like a force field. Falling from mid air and hitting the ground, both Invincible and Wrench shook their heads at the impact as the robot began to remember one of the things about Puzzler.
"Should have mention about whenever Puzzler makes a maze. A force field is generated, one strong enough to stop a missile. Only way to take it down, is to beat the maze."
Wrench explaining to Mark as the human teen got annoyed by the last part as Eve descended right by their side seeing that it still looked like a normal maze. The trio gazed at the grassy walls as they noticed the ground shaking, shooting out looked like a sign with several phones strapped together. Turning online it showed Puzzler on screen as well him waving at them.
"Greetings! I am the ingenious Puzzler, master of games and mazes. I've seen you are this worlds greatest champions, but that doesn't mean your the smartest."
Introducing himself sounding confident in fighting them, however his eyes widen to seeing his former captor Wrench which made him sigh at the sight. The blue robot waved at him seeing how this was a rather strange moment of seeing him with two heroic individuals.
"Hey buddy. I know that this is 'odd'. But remember how we played on the ship? All those board games and how I sneaked in those snacks as a way for you winning? How about we stop all this and decide to come back to base?"
Trying to be friendly to Puzzler seeing how out of all the prisoners that Sledge had captured, Puzzler wasn't exactly threatening but clever in causing crimes. The game alien merely looked upset at the suggestion as the sight made Invincible and Eve prepare seeing that Puzzler wasn't coming in easy.
"Fat chance! I know Sledge wants to bring me in for my bounty, and I know these two will whip the floor with me. Either way, you won't be able to get passed by maze. If you can find the center, then maybe I'll come in peacefully. Otherwise, my maze is staying up. And you won't be able to get me!"
Taunting them before the ground swallowed up the sign as well a entrance opening up to the three as it was invitation to enter the maze. Waiting to see who would go first, Mark merry flew right in as Wrench and Eve followed seeing how Puzzler's words might have got him annoyed.
"Mark! Didn't you listen to what he said? Puzzler can control mazes, meaning that he could change it in a instant."
Explaining to her boyfriend as suddenly the maze begun to move, from the walls to the sides shifted around as it seemed impossible to know when it would stop. Keeping together and avoiding the walls, it suddenly stopped as they saw a new way down the maze. Looking at Wrench to see if he knew how to go threw this, the blue robot shook his head seeing how this wasn't like the board games they used to play on the ship.
"Wrench, this isn't rocket science. It's like Dungeons and Dragons, just pick a lane and go down."
Mark telling Wrench of how they could get this done without any trouble as he decided to go first. However Eve stopped him as the lane that was opened quickly sprang a trap which involved several hundred razor sharp vines that scratch against his leg.
"Did that game involve actual pieces that could kill you?"
Questioning him as the maze began to shuffle again as the three remain together. Seeing it shuffle Wrench saw how there was a opening, holding his axe tight he soon rushed at the chance and leaps into the lane. Both the humans saw how the robot was able to survive the jump as it continued to shift.
"When it moves it doesn't set up the attacks, trigger them and then jump!"
Announcing before they couldn't see or hear him as the maze had suddenly stopped moving. New lanes came up as they saw how it seemed normal, in which left them to see if he was correct. Both Mark and Eve looked at each other before they quickly flew right into the lane, this time it was flytraps that tried to eat them. Mark smashed right threw them while Eve chopped them down as they went to a new area which soon changed.
"Wait."
Mark stopping Eve as they saw how the lane was changing, watching the movement he noticed the new lanes being covered in large wooden stakes. Seeing the opportunity he decided to move at the second turn. Holding onto Eve's arm the two saw how Wrench was moving across the changing maze. Continuing to move, they notice a strange sight where they might have seen Puzzler.
"Ok. This is a long shot, but we got to rush it."
Stating as they were close to seeing Puzzler to which the two got a good head start before rushing threw the changing maze again. Feeling the moving maze bumming into them as well getting a few scratches, the trio smashed right out and hit the ground hard as they appeared to arrive at the center of the maze.
"Shit! That hurt."
Eve groaning how she was cut up during the maze but was still alive, getting up from the chase they see Puzzler on a chair along drinking juice from a straw as he was shocked at them surviving. Falling right out he was surprised by how the three were able to make it here at the center.
"This is illogical, I saw the video's of you two. Your nothing more than muscle crashing into everything!"
The alien game master stating as he seemed frightened about what they might do to him. However it seemed he didn't know how Mark had a bit of help from Wrench about how to get pass the traps. Panicking at the sight and not knowing what to do, Wrench decided to be the negotiator since the game alien was petrified of both Invincible and Eve.
"Well that was before he got a lesson from Professor Strickler, and not behind a cage. Which is something we can offer you if you come with us."
Offering him a chance to come in peacefully since they had changed them before in space. Puzzler was still paranoid not knowing if he could since the company he had with them were always involved in destruction. Before he could make his choice, the ground begun to shake if this was part of Puzzler's plan. Though it wasn't as a pair of tentacles rose from the side which grabbled across Puzzler's arms in a tight hold.
"This isn't me."
Pleading to them before getting sucked into the ground which forced the three to rush right to the alien and try to bring him out. Struggling to do so they felt a energy jolt going threw them and sending them back. Hearing Puzzler being buried, they soon notice the maze coming down seeing that without him here. It would not last that long, leaving everything to collapse and revert to a normal manner while leaving a bit of forest damage that could be easily repaired.
"Wrench? When you see Sledge? Tell him I'm going kick his ass since I want to know what else was with him on that ship."
Mark telling the robot as he felt like this sudden surprise had to be another monster from Sledge since it's been a while since he's seen another monster that wasn't affiliated to his home. Wrench merely muttered about how those tentacles could have been from anyone, all he could do was report to Sledge about what happened.
Later-Unknown Location
Within the next several hours in a containment room was Puzzler who was panicking around the place not knowing where he was tried to use his abilities. So far he couldn't due to how he had on a collar around his arm disabling his power. Looking at a door slowly opening up, he prepared to see who might have captured him. Stepping in was a frightening sight as he tumbled to the floor recognizing the figure.
"Is that anyway to treat your friend? Especially one who saved you from Sledge putting up his large boot up your ass?"
Questioning Puzzler as the figure who took him away was none other than Snide as his yellow eyes glowed at him. Shuttering at the stories at the sight along that he heard about facing Sledge and the other costumed people head on, Snide had become even more dangerous.
"At ease Snide."
A voice spoke from behind as the relentless killer merely groans annoyed to which he moved by the side where Puzzler saw in the shadows a human shaped figure. It was Cecil Stedman as he had the same face of a calm exposure along not surprised of how Snide made his introduction.
"Apologies, Snide has been recently trying to 'lighten' up ever since I brought him into my 'occupation'."
Explaining as Puzzler looked confused about what the human meant along how he turned to the side where he saw Snide holding a badge. He was still confused about what was going on in which Cecil bends a knee along shows him a hand which confused the game like alien.
"And I saw how your mazes were strong enough to withstand Invincible's strength. Which begs the question, how would you like a job with some other familiar faces?"
Asking him as the lights opened up to the other side as on the outside of the room was several other aliens that were in Sledge custody and now in league with Snide. The dangerous alien merely chuckled seeing how under the GDA's protection, they could manage to keep out of Sledge's sight. However they had to follow several orders, such as preparing for the possible threat of Omni man as well any other extraterrestrial threats that would come to Earth. All under Cecil's orders.
