CHAPTER 15:

When Julia opened her eyes, feeling shaken and almost misled by something or someone, she no longer knew where she was. Her head was just completely blank. She could not remember anything at this very moment. She barely remembered who she was.

Then, suddenly, she felt water being sprayed on her face and she quickly opened her eyes. She took a deep breath and looked around when everything was completely out of focus. She felt like she saw several people running around her.

She finally manages to see something and only sees white. Bright white that hurt her eyes so much she had to try three times before she managed to open them wide.

"Doctor? Doctor Ogden, can you hear us?" cried a voice she thought she recognized.

"Derek…?" she whispered; her throat completely dry.

She heard him answer her and she saw his lips move as she only perceived the following words: "take care of everything" "badly" and "everything is fine".

What was she doing here again? She had forgotten again. Or maybe we did not tell her? If Derek was there, it was because she was at her place of work, at the hospital in Toronto. Derek Tresco. He was the head of the hospital in which she had now worked for more than 5 years. They were acquaintances and she liked him, but they were not friends either. So why was he on top of her like that? And why was he talking to her so hastily.

Suddenly she had had enough. She realized that she was lying down and she suddenly rose to a sitting position. She felt her head spin a little and the hearing suddenly came back to her.

"Doctor Ogden, you need to lie down. Everything is fine now. You are safe."

Derek looked at the young woman, completely disheveled and traumatized from the ordeal she had just experienced. When he arrived at the hospital that very morning, he was very surprised to learn that one of the best doctors in his hospital was missing. She had not told him, and he had not heard from her.

He had to admit that when he hired her five years ago, he had had his doubts. She was the first female doctor at this hospital, and he had a feeling she would not be up to it. And honestly, he was completely mistaken. She had been far more competent than most of the doctors at this hospital, and the patients loved her.

As time went on, he had to admit that he had started to have a big crush on her. He found her beautiful, impetuous, and very intelligent. She had really seduced him.

When he had been called urgently because she had been found with Detective Murdoch, collapsed on the pavement, he had stormed out. He had arrived in a street a few meters from the hospital with several nurses and they had picked up the two young people. They had found them glued to each other, bloody and completely battered. They were surrounded by several passers-by and townspeople, completely distraught. But what happened and where did they come from?

Derek and the other nurses and doctors had transported the two young people to his hospital. He had heard one of the passers-by shout that the man was Detective William Murdoch of Station 4 in Toronto. He had heard so much about him. He was known to be extremely intelligent and the most crime-solving. He also knew that many women found him attractive, but he preferred to pretend that he had not heard that. Jealousy sometimes spoke for him.

He felt his heart drop in his chest when he saw the physical state of the young woman. He did not understand what could have happened to her. She was supposed to be at a social function yesterday. What had happened?

Once at the hospital, he had taken care of Julia with another nurse. The other doctors had taken William Murdoch directly to the operating room, being in serious condition. He should not have been alive at this hour. It was a miracle.

"Doctor Ogden…Julia…" he had the impression of feeling overwhelmed by the situation and the completely frightened young woman.

He gently sat down on the bed he had placed her in with a nurse. The nurse – Marie – slowly moved back to the back of the room, observing the exchange between her two superiors. They had all, of course, noticed their leader's weakness for Dr. Ogden.

"You have a broken wrist, but we have everything on board…"

"Where's William?" Julia asked suddenly, huge concern apparent in her voice.

Derek raised his eyebrows and felt a pang of jealousy. Seeing her clinging to him when he found her on the street surprised him. But he had not had time to pay attention to it. And he had thought that it had to do with the trauma that they had both surely suffered. Still, the worry in it made her feel like she seemed to know this man well. But he did not remember ever having seen her in the company of this gentleman.

"He… He is having surgery… He is in very bad shape."

"No…" the young woman sighed, desperate.

"He'll be fine, don't worry…" he sighed in turn. "You need to lie down. You lost consciousness."

"But William… how is he?"

Derek frowned at his best doctor's reaction. He had just told her that he was in bad shape. Why was she asking him the question again?

"Sorry... You just told me..." she whispered uncomfortably, trying to lay down with difficulty.

"The police are there, Julia. They want to ask you questions…" Derek concludes, trying not to dwell on Julia's reaction to the mention of the detective's condition.

Note: Julia is worried about William. For the first name of the head of the hospital – Derek – I admit I thought of Grey's Anatomy when writing that haha! Will understand who can. I hope you still like the story.
