Disclaimer: I do not own The Mr. Men Show or its characters, but I do own several characters in this story and the idea for this story.

A few days went by, and the two Mr. Men had been trying their best to take care of the young girl. They made sure she had three meals each day: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If they were still up late at night, they would wonder if they should offer her a midnight snack, but usually she was sound asleep by that time, and they didn't want to wake her.

The morning after she arrived in town, Mr. Nosy had pointed something out to his little buddy.

"If she is to stay with us for a while, she needs more clothes than the ones she is already wearing," the light green Mr. Man had remarked as he had watched Scarlet go back into her room after breakfast.

A thoughtful look had crossed Mr. Small's face like he was thinking about what his friend said. Finally he jumped out of his chair and exclaimed," Great observation, Nose!"

Then they went to the mall to buy her some more clothes so she didn't need to wear the same ones the whole time she was in Dillydale–they had asked her if she wanted to come with them, but she had said that she would rather stay in the house and see if she can find anything about herself in her bag. She's been going through that bag of hers every chance she got, most of the time staying in her room. But so far she hasn't mentioned finding anything new.

The young human girl was looking over a few papers that she had found in one of her folders right now while the two best friends were on the other side of the living room, talking.

"Haven't you noticed something odd going on with her?" asked Mr. Small as he glanced at the girl on the couch, finally leaving her room after spending all morning in it since she finished breakfast. She was wearing a green shirt and black pants that the Mr. Men had got for her from the mall; they were glad that all the clothes they bought fit her.

His friend looked down at him with a confused expression. "You mean besides her being unable to remember anything?" He lifted his gaze to the red haired girl before switching it back to his buddy. "Maybe, but I'm sure it's all in our heads. We're just not used to her yet, that's all."

It's not all in my head! Mr. Small wanted to argue, but he knew that his friend was right. They only met her a few days ago. We don't actually know her properly yet, so maybe it's normal that she changes moods so much and keeps to herself a lot. Yet there was still a nagging feeling inside him that was trying to convince him that the way she was switching moods so often wasn't completely normal for her. And what about the change of her necklace? Every time her mood changed, so did the color in her necklace. He's heard of mood rings before, but never a mood necklace. He felt like it was more than that.

However, he said nothing as Mr. Nosy walked past him, and Mr. Small turned around to see him going over to Scarlet, who was too busy reading to notice the light green Mr. Man approaching her. He watched as his friend sat down beside her, his eyes locking on the toy lemur that was resting against her side.

I wonder why she has that, Mr. Small thought as he walked over to his chair, sitting in it but not taking his eyes off the two on the couch. He remembered Mr. Nosy mentioning seeing it in her bag when he had the chance of looking through it the other day before Scarlet saw him, but his friend seemed just as confused as Mr. Small about the toy animal.

They even asked the human girl about it, but she only shrugged and admitted that she had no idea why she had it, though she had a feeling that it was very important and that she should always keep it by her side.

Suddenly he noticed Mr. Nosy leaning closer as if to look over the girl's shoulder to see what she was reading, but he seemed to lose his balance and fell off of the couch, landing on the hard floor.

Instantly Mr. Small was on his feet and running to check on his friend, who was slowly sitting up and rubbing his head where he had hit it. He was groaning like he was hurt.

"Are you okay?" the small Mr. Man asked when he was at his friend's side.

Before Mr. Nosy had a chance to answer, laughter made the two look up at Scarlet. "That's what you get for being nosy!" she chuckled, sticking her tongue out at the light green Mr. Man.

Mr. Small couldn't believe the way she was acting, especially after everything the two of them did for her. "Don't laugh!" he exclaimed which caused the girl to put her tongue back in her mouth and look at him in surprise. "While you're laughing, he could be seriously hurt!" Thinking this, he turned back to his best friend, who had his eyes glued on the red haired girl. "Are you okay?" he repeated his earlier question.

At first Mr. Nosy didn't answer, only kept his gaze fixed on Scarlet; the human girl started giggling under her breath, but Mr. Small didn't turn to look at her. Finally the light green Mr. Man turned his head to his buddy. "I-I'm fine." He tried to get up, but suddenly a painful expression crossed his face as he fell back on the floor; whatever he said, he was obviously not okay.

"Do you need help getting up?" Mr. Small asked, and he was surprised when Mr. Nosy shook his head. He watched as his friend slowly got up, seeming to have to force himself to move, and once he was on his feet, he was clearly off balance; still he didn't ask for help though.

Mr. Nosy began to stumble toward the bedroom, murmuring as he went," I think I need to go lay down." As he walked, he stretched out his arms as if to keep himself balanced though he still looked like he would fall over at any time.

Horror ran through Mr. Small as he widened his eyes. "So I'm going to be by myself with Scarlet?" he questioned, looking over his shoulder at the red haired girl; she had stopped laughing, and was now smiling and waving at him. He couldn't explain it, but just seeing her do that frightened him even more, though it was clear that she was just trying to be friendly. He felt there was something more to her than meets the eye, and he was afraid to find out what that could be.

Besides, he realized while she was laughing, her necklace had changed to blue, but now it was red again. It took a few switches of her mood, but he realized she was nice when the light in her necklace shone red, but when it was blue, she was mean and yelled at them. He didn't know what that meant, but he found himself looking at her necklace so he knew what to expect.

Mr. Small ran to catch up to his best friend. "I'm sure you're fine," he said quickly. "You know what would help you?" He stepped in front of Mr. Nosy which made him come to a halt and look down at his buddy. "Laying in your chair to relax," he went on, adding to himself in his head, That way you can be here in case something happens…

"I'm sorry, Mr. Small," his friend said with a shake of his head, but he stopped and moaned softly as if that movement hurt him. "I really need to lay down in my bed," he told him as he slowly passed his friend with a regretful expression on his face.

"Aw, come on, Mr. Small."

Mr. Small jumped when he heard Scarlet say his name.

"I'm not that bad, am I?" she asked, her voice sounding playful.

"I'm sorry." Mr. Small frowned as he turned to her, looking at her necklace. Relief hit him when he saw that it was still red. "I don't want you to think you've done anything wrong," he added carefully, but it seemed like his words still hurt her feelings.

Scarlet sighed and put the papers back in her bag, placing the strap on her shoulder. "Oh, I get it," she murmured as she picked up her toy lemur and climbed off the couch, holding on tight to it as she started to head toward her room with her head down.

Instantly Mr. Small felt guilty, and he wanted to call her back to apologize, but just then there was a knock at the front door. After one more glance in the direction of the human's room, he went to answer the door, surprised to see Mr. Scatterbrain and Little Miss Calamity standing there.

"Oh, hello," he greeted them, wondering what they were doing here.

Mr. Scatterbrain lifted his hat before placing it back on his head as he said," Hello."

"Hey, Mr. Small," added Little Miss Calamity. "Mr. Scatterbrain told me that there is a new girl in town, and he wanted to meet her since the last time he tried, she was missing."

"Oh, yeah," Mr. Small murmured, remembering the other day when Mr. Scatterbrain asked to see Scarlet; for a brief second he wondered if his friend was feeling better since the last time he saw him, he wasn't acting like himself. "Well, she's back," he added. "She's in her room. Please come in."

The couple walked into the house when Mr. Small stepped back.

"Where's Mr. Nosy?" asked Little Miss Calamity, glancing around the living room with an unknown sparkle in her eyes, but the small Mr. Man didn't think much of it.

"In our room," Mr. Small replied, and then he explained how his friend fell off the couch and hurt himself.

"I hope he's okay," the Little Miss murmured with a sideways glance at Mr. Scatterbrain, who just slightly shook his head, which made Mr. Small wonder what just passed between them, but he said nothing about it as he replied to her.

"He said he's fine."

While they talked, Mr. Scatterbrain walked over to Scarlet's room, hoping that his partner would be able to keep the Mr. Man busy for a while. He knocked on the door and heard a soft voice say come in. He slowly opened the door and peeked inside. There on the bed sat a red-haired girl. She didn't look up as he walked over.

Then he realized that she wasn't wearing the same clothes he last saw her in.

Did they buy her new clothes? he wondered.

Stopping beside her bed, he stared down at her, noticing that she was writing on a piece of paper. As he watched her, the familiar anger and frustration boiled up inside him, but he pushed it down, knowing that Mr. Scatterbrain very rarely got upset, so he had to keep up the act.

"Hello," he said.

"Hello," she replied, finally looking up, and Mr. Scatterbrain recognized her by the pink light within her necklace. He forced himself to appear cheerful.

"What's your name?" he asked her, even though he already knew.

She hesitated. Finally, she said," Ace. What about you?"

He almost answered with his real name, which would have been a huge mistake. "Mr. Scatterbrain," he told her instead, sitting on the edge of the bed. "What were you writing?" he asked. He didn't really care and he already found out what he needed to know, but it would look suspicious if he left abruptly.

Ace hesitated again. "I was writing a letter to someone," she finally said.

"To who?"

"My uncle," she answered, but she slipped the paper under the pillow, as if hiding it from him.

Mr. Scatterbrain shrugged and stood up again, thankful she didn't realize who he really was. He was reassured that he was well hidden here and nobody knew he wasn't who he pretended to be. He was afraid the best friends were suspicious of him the other day, but even Mr. Small seemed to think he was the magenta Mr. Man.

"Well, I have to go," he said, walking to the door. "It was nice meeting you, Ace." And thanks for giving me the information I need.

Ace didn't respond. She just got the paper and started writing again.

"Stupid girl," Mr. Scatterbrain murmured to himself. Now he knew that she and probably the others were still around. He needed to be careful so he didn't mess everything up.

"So how is she?" Mr. Small asked as soon as Mr. Scatterbrain got back to the living room. He didn't want to tell him what had happened right before he and Little Miss Calamity arrived. He just wanted to know if Scarlet was okay.

"Who?" Mr. Scatterbrain blinked, looking confused and seeming more like himself.

There was a calm look on Little Miss Calamity's face as she looked up at her boyfriend, but Mr. Small noticed that an unknown sparkle was still in her eyes as she spoke. "The girl you wanted to meet," she reminded him. "Was she in there?"

"Oh!" Mr. Scatterbrain nodded with a short glance at the Little Miss before looking back at Mr. Small. "I talked to her for a few moments."

"What did you two talk about?" asked Mr. Small, wanting to know how Scarlet handled the scatterbrained Mr. Man, especially since he was so out of character the other day. At least he seemed back to normal now.

"Um..." Mr. Scatterbrain trailed off for a few seconds as if thinking, before exclaiming," Oh! I remember now!" But then he just stopped talking without going into detail.

It took all of Mr. Small's strength to not lose his temper with his friend. "Well?" he pressed gently. "What did you talk about?"

"She was writing a letter," he said.

Mr. Small was confused. "A letter?" he asked. "To who?

"To… Who?" Mr. Scatterbrain blinked.

"Who was she writing a letter to?" Little Miss Calamity asked him, and the laughter in her voice confused Mr. Small.

"Oh, yeah." Mr. Scatterbrain shifted his feet a little before adding," Her uncle, I think."

"Hmm…" Little Miss Calamity glanced at the girl's room.

Mr. Small thought for a moment. "Her uncle? A-Are you sure?"

"Positive."

"She told us she couldn't remember anything about her family." Suddenly Mr. Small had a bad feeling. "Did she say anything else?"

"She said her name is Ace," the magenta Mr. Man replied at once.

"She told us that her name is Scarlet." Mr. Small paused, before asking," Anything else?"

Mr. Scatterbrain answered without hesitation. "No, but it was clear she was hiding something. She wouldn't show me the letter." There was a smirk on his face, but Mr. Small didn't really notice it.

"Hmm..." Mr. Small began to walk to the girl's room.

Mr. Scatterbrain and Little Miss Calamity looked at each other, and smiled, before they followed Mr. Small.

The small Mr. Man walked into the red haired human's room and stormed over to the bed, where she was laying and looking down at a photo.

"What is your real name?" he demanded, causing her to look up in surprise. She widened her eyes as if frightened by his sudden anger.

"Huh?" She sat up and gently placed the picture on the nightstand. "What do you mean?"

"Why did you tell Mr. Scatterbrain that your name is Ace?" Mr. Small asked, staring up at her and crossing his arms. "Is Scarlet your real name or is it Ace or something else entirely?"

"Oh." The girl put her legs over the edge of the bed and looked down at him, before glancing at the two people behind him, noticing that the magenta fellow was waving at her with a smile on his face. "I'm sorry, but I have never met them before." She frowned. "My name is Scarlet though...well at least I'm sure because of this picture." She reached for the photo and handed it to the small Mr. Man. "But...um..." She had found out something by looking through her bag, but she wasn't sure how to explain it.

"But what?" Mr. Small asked, sounding a little curious now; he put the picture on the bed, not taking his eyes off of the girl.

"It's hard to explain," Scarlet said slowly as she thought about what to say. "Um… There's these… people or something… in my head that takes over sometimes… And I don't remember anything when they take over… At least that's what I read in my notes or the notes one of them wrote… Or something… I… I'm not sure…"

Mr. Small just stared at her, too shocked and confused to say anything. Behind him, Mr. Scatterbrain and Little Miss Calamity exchanged a look before turning back to them.

"One of the notes explained that I can't stop them from coming out," Scarlet went on. "I'm sorry. I understand if you don't want me to stay anymore so I'll leave." She jumped off the bed before she grabbed the picture and her bag.

"No, don't leave." Mr. Small blocked her way. "It sounds like you have a disorder. Have you ever heard of Multiple Personality Disorder?"

Scarlet thought for a moment, before nodding. She found a piece of paper that went into great detail about the disorder, but as soon as the Mr. Man said the name of it, a vision of someone she couldn't see clearly flashed behind her eyelids, and she heard their voice, though distorted, explaining to her about her other personalities. Then she realized that Mr. Small was staring up at her with understanding. She took a step back, suddenly uncomfortable with the look he was giving her.

"Oh, so you're not dangerous after all," he said in a relieved voice. "I'm sorry. When you kept changing moods, I thought...well that's not important," he added quickly. He didn't want to tell her that he thought she was planning something against him and his friends.

The red haired human just stared at him, feeling hurt that he thought she was dangerous.

Mr. Scatterbrain took a few steps forward, until he was in front of the girl. "So, you're Scarlet right now?" he asked in a careful tone.

"Yes," she answered.

"I talked to Ace earlier," he told her.

"Ace?" Scarlet seemed to think for a moment before nodding. "I found a few notes about her in a red binder," she added as she put her picture on the table and tossed her bag on the bed, beginning to go through it, and pulling out papers and folders and her toy lemur. "I can't seem to find it now though." She frowned and turned back to the others.

Mr. Small stepped forward. "What about a letter? Mr. Scatterbrain said Ace was writing a letter to her uncle."

Scarlet looked at him and shook her head. "No, I don't see that either."

"It's okay. Maybe it'll turn up," Mr. Small said. Scarlet thought he wanted to say more, but he didn't, and she wished she could read his mind. Maybe it'll turn up, she echoed in her head. It couldn't have vanished by itself… She sighed inwardly, having a feeling where the binder at least could be, but she decided not to say anything. Clearly Mr. Small also suspected what she did, and she'll let him handle it.
