Chapter 1
The Heart of the Cards
It all started at Domino High School, learning place of Twilight and her friends, both new and old. And they were gathered around and watching Yugi and Joey play a game together. "Hey, Joey. Earth to Joey! Hey, are you in there? It's your turn." Yugi said to his friend while Joey was making up his mind on the move he was going to make. "Aw, isn't it cute when he's thinking?" Tristan teased. "Hey, Tristan, Yugi here's teaching me how to play Duel Monsters." Joey said, showing a hand of cards he was holding. "Drooling Monsters?" Tristan asked. "Duel Monsters, you nimrod!" Joey responded before shoving him away. "They've been at it for hours. Joey's starting to get the hang of the game, but Yugi's like an expert." Tea explained. "Hours?! All that time for a card game?" Applejack asked. "The game's called Duel Monsters, and it's really popular." Tea explained. "Looks kinda dorky to me." Rainbow muttered to herself, only to get elbowed by Applejack. "Okay, Yugi, it's time to duel!" Joey said as he picked and slapped his card down. "How do you play the game?" Spike asked, intrigued. "See, each player has a set number of life points and there are three different kinds of cards in the game. Monsters, Spells or Magic cards, and Traps. Each monster has an attack number and a defense number, along with a type, a power level, an elemental attribute and a description of the monster on it. First player to eliminate their opponents' life points wins the duel." Tea answered. "This game kinda looks like fun." Twilight said with a smile. "Let's see, Joey's monster is called Kagemusha of the Blue Flame. It's a level 2 Earth attribute warrior monster with 800 attack points and 400 defense points." Spike said, clearly amazed.
"Pretty good move, huh, Yugi?" Joey asked, pleased with himself. "Yep. Pretty good move, but not...good enough." Yugi said as he confidently played his card of choice. "Oh! Nice move, Yugi! The Blackland Fire Dragon, a level 3 Dark attribute dragon with 1500 attack points and 800 defense points! A head-on attack with that easily destroys Joey's warrior and brings his life points down to 0, depending if they were at 700 or less. Which means Yugi wins!" Spike shouted. "What?! Thanks a lot! A card that powerful totally wipes me out!" Joey said, clearly shocked and not happy about losing the way he did. "Okay, that's kinda cool, but I don't think this game is my cup of apple cider. But, whoa, you stink at this game, Joey." Rainbow said. "Nah, you fine, Joey. I just have better cards. See, my grandpa owns a game shop, and I get all my best cards from him." Yugi responded. "You're own game shop? What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Joey said with a smile. "I think we should all go, class is over anyway, so we can all go have a look." Twilight rationalized. "Okay, maybe I can get my grandpa to show us this super rare card he's got." Yugi responded. But little did they know, another set of ears was listening in. "Rare card? Could they have found the card that I've been searching for?" the student thought to himself as he read a copy of Also Sprach Zarathustra.
Later, the group arrived at Yugi's grandpa's shop, Kame Game, with kame meaning turtle in Japanese. "Grandpa? I'm home!" Yugi called as they entered. "And I see you've brought company." Grandpa Muto said with a smile. "I don't believe you introduced me to your newer friends, Yugi." he added, pointing out Twilight and her friends. "Well, sir, we go by our nicknames. My name is Twilight, and these are Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Spike." Twi said with a smile. "Pleasure to meet you, my name is Solomon, but you can call me Mr. Moto, if you want." Solomon responded. "Gramps, could you show my friends your awesome, super rare card?" Yugi asked. "Rare card? My special card?" Sol asked, unsure if he should or not. "Please, please!" Yugi said, hands clapped together. "Pretty please?" Joey asked. "With frosting and sprinkles on top?" Pinkie added. "Haha. How could I refuse?" Solomon answered with a smile before bringing out a case big enough for one card to fit in. "You kids are in for a treat. I don't bring this card out too often. Ready? Here it is." Solomon said before bringing out a card that struck Spike as familiar. "The Blue-Eyes White Dragon. So rare, so powerful, I never let it leave the shop, let alone my hands." Sol said as everyone marvled at it, while Spike was doubly amazed. "So the carving I found in Ponyville was that of this dragon, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Spike thought to himself as he marvled at the card's design and specifics, which included a power level of 8, an elemental attribute of Light, 3000 attack and 2500 defense points. Right then and there, Tristan took the card to have a closer look. "Doesn't look all that special to me." he said before Solomon snatched it back. "This card is priceless! There are only four of them in all the world." Solomon objected.
"Wait, only four were ever printed? Guess that's why it's super rare." Spike said. "Okay, even I have to admit that dragon looks pretty cool." Rainbow pointed out. "Speaking of pricless, I'm ready to trade." Joey said with a smile. "Not for this card." Solomon said, thinking Joey was after the Blue-Eyes. "Huh? No, I didn't mean that card. I meant show me some other cool cards to get me started." Joey explained. "You know, I might as well try the game myself. If Spike's into it." Twilight said with a smile. "I reckon all of us are into that idea. But, how do we decided to build a deck so we can play?" Applejack asked. But before anyone could answer, someone comes in. "Hello. Can I help you?" Solomon asked before everyone looked back and saw it was the student who listened in on them. "If you can't, it certainly wouldn't surprise me." he said as he entered with a briefcase in his left hand. "Seto Kaiba?" Yugi asked, revealing that he, and everyone else at Domino High, knew him. "Doesn't he have a big fancy company to run? What's he doing down here?" Tristan asked, also revealing that Kaiba was rich enough to be the head of his own company. "Not that it's any of your business, but I came to see the card." Kaiba explained. "Hey, are you into Duel Monsters, too? This is perfect! Maybe we can all duel together sometime!" Pinkie said with a smile. "Me? Duel you? I would have more of a challenge playing Solitaire." Kaiba said, mockingly. "And what's that supposed to mean?" Rainbow asked, taking it as an insult. "I am the number one ranked duelist in the country, if not the world, and the favorite to win the Duel Monsters championship. None of you would last two minutes in a duel against me." Kaiba answered.
"Oooh, I'm shaking. Maybe you'd like to settle this with fists instead of cards!" Joey said, angrily. "Let me back you up, Joey." Rainbow put in, but Yugi and Fluttershy stepped in. "Whoa! Take it easy, guys!" Yugi said as he and Fluttershy held them both back. "Don't do something you'll end up regretting, you two." Fluttershy added, hoping that cooler heads would prevail. "But, guys, Kaiba's asking for it." Joey said, defiant. "You're lucky that my friends are holding me back, rich boy!" Rainbow said, still upset. "Now, does this shop have any worthwhile cards or not?" Kaiba asked before spotting the card he was after. "Can it be? The Blue-Eyes White Dragon? In a dump like this?" he said in shock before Solomon closed the case that held the mighty dragon. "Well, enough window shopping. Is there anything else I can help you with?" Sol asked before Kaiba, not willing to be denied the mighty Blue-Eyes, slammed his briefcase onto the counter and opened it, amazing Sol with its contents. "Listen to me, old man! Give me your Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and I'll trade you all of these!" Kaiba desperately offered, as everyone was shocked at how many cards Kaiba was willing to trade. "Ah, nice. But no thanks." Sol said, doubly surprising everyone. "Fine! If you won't trade, maybe you'll sell it! Name your price. I can pay anything you ask." Kaiba said, desperately. "I'm sure you could, but this card is worth more to me than you can ever offer. Not because of its power, or because it's so rare, but because of what it means to me. This card was given to me by a dear friend, and so I treasure this card as I do that friend. So parting with it is completely out of the question." Sol responded. Kaiba seethed with anger as he knew he was denied one of the four most rare and powerful dragon cards in the game of Duel Monsters.
"Your grandpa must care about his card like I would care for my rabbit friend, Angel." Fluttershy said to Yugi. "He sure does. You'd feel the same even if it were a common card, right, grandpa?" Yugi asked. "Exactly. You see, this precious card has bonded with my heart." Sol explained. "How can a person's heart bond with a card?" Rainbow asked. "If you put all of your heart into building a Duel Monsters deck and always dueling with it, your heart bonds with them. Or, in my case, if a dear friend gives you a card as a token of your friendship, your heart bonds with it. And when you duel, you have to believe, not just in yourself, but in every one of your cards in your deck, too. That belief is what's known as The Heart of the Cards." Sol answered. The response disgusted Kaiba to the point where he shut his briefcase in anger. "Fine! I've heard enough of your nonsense! Senile old fool." Kaiba said as he left in an angry huff before getting into his limo and driving off. "Heart of the Cards, ridiculous! These cards are all about power, and one way or another, his Blue-Eyes White Dragon card, will be mine." Kaiba thought to himself as his limo drove him towards his corporate headquarters, the KaibaCorp building. Early the next day, Kaiba formulated a plan to get the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. "Hobson, there's a little something I'd like you to pick up for me at the Kame Game shop." Kaiba said. "Gladly, Master Kaiba." Hobson responded, possibly revealing he was Kaiba's butler. Later as the sun reached higher into the sky, the door to Kame Game opened as Solomon was preparing for the day's work. "Good morning." he said before looking behind him and seeing Hobson and two guards "My master, Seto Kaiba, challenges you to a duel. You will come with us, now." he said. "And if I were, to decline?" Sol asked. "I'm afraid I must insist." Hobson responded. "Young Kaiba doesn't understand, but I'll teach him a lesson about the Heart of the Cards." Sol thought to himself.
Later that day, Yugi and the gang were on their way back to Kame Game after school ended. "Man, I hope he has some cool cards today." Joey said, hopeful. "Me, too." Yugi agreed. "Me, three! I can't wait to get into this game!" Spike said with a huge smile before they arrived at the shop. "Okay, gramps, I'm back to get more cards!" Joey called out, but no one answered. "Hello? Mr. Muto?" Rarity called. "Grandpa! I'm home!" Yugi called, but still no one answered. "Maybe he, went out." Tea suggested. "Maybe, but if he did, why in tarnation did he leave the door unlocked?" Applejack asked. But before an answer could be given, the telephone rang, which Yugi soon answered. "Hello? Kame Game shop." he said. "Ah, Yugi, perfect!" said the caller, which turned out to be Kaiba. "Kaiba?" Yugi asked, surprised that Kaiba would call the shop after what happened the previous day. "Your grandfather's here visiting, but he's not feeling very well. Why don't you come by my office and pick him up?" Kaiba said before hanging up. "Kaiba?! What have you done, Kaiba?!" Yugi said, clearly worried about his grandfather. "If that rich slimeball did something to your grandpa, he's gonna get it for sure!" Rainbow said, quite upset that something bad happened to the poor old man. "Spare the threats and let's go! I bet they're at the KaibaCorp building!" Applejack said. And so, the group headed to the KaibaCorp building and went up the elevator to find Solomon on the floor.
"Grandpa! Grandpa, are you okay?" Yugi asked as he ran up to him. "Yugi, I failed. I wanted to teach that boy, Kaiba, a lesson about the Heart of the Cards, but I lost." Sol answered. "Grandpa." Yugi said, his voice shaky, before Kaiba entered the room. "How's the old man feeling, hmm?" he asked. "Kaiba! You sleaze, what have you done to him?!" Joey asked. "If you laid a finger on this innocent old man's head...!" Fluttershy shouted, clearly upset. "We had a duel, that's all, with each of us putting up our most valuable card as the prize. But I guess playing against a world champion like myself was just too much stimulation for the old fool." Kaiba responded. "Kaiba, you should be ashamed of yourself!" Tea shouted, just as upset as Fluttershy. "It was fair. And look at the sweet prize I won." Kaiba responded as he held up the Blue-Eyes White Dragon he won from Solomon, only to tear it in half to the shock of everyone. "Grandpa's most treasured card!" Yugi shouted as Kaiba tossed the pieces aside. "Yes, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is a rare and powerful card. And this one, will never be used against me." he said. "My Blue-Eyes White Dragon! My treasure!" Solomon shouted, but he winced in pain, showing he was injured. "Grandpa, hold on." Yugi said, clearly worried. "How could you do such a thing?!" Fluttershy asked. "He's just a defenseless old man, you big bully!" Pinkie shouted. "That was one of the rarest cards in the game!" Spike added. "Yugi, here. Take this." Sol said as he handed a deck of Duel Monsters cards to Yugi. "Grandpa?" Yugi asked. "I built this deck, I put my soul in these cards, and I taught you everything I know, Yugi. Take these cards, take my cards and teach him respect! Teach Kaiba respect for the Heart of the Cards, Yugi!" Solomon answered. "But Grandpa, you need help. I've got to get you to a doctor!" Yugi said, thinking his grandpa's health was more important than a duel.
"Sounds like an excuse. Your friends can look after your grandfather, while you and I duel. Unless you're afraid." Kaiba butted in. But before Yugi could answer, someone answered for him. "Take him, Yugi! We can take care of your grandpa while you take care of creepy Kaiba. Teach that rich, spoiled brat what a real duel's all about!" Joey said. "For your grandpa, Yugi!" Tea added. "I don't know." Yugi said, clearly unsure if he could even stand a chance against Kaiba, the world champion. "Yugi, trust me when I say you're the greatest Duelist I've ever seen, and you've got that Millennium Puzzle around your neck for a good luck charm. You can do this, Yugi. I know you can!" Spike said. "We all do." Fluttershy added. "Plus, I speak for my friends when I say we want to see Kaiba pay the price for messing with the family of one of our friends!" Rainbow put in. Finaly, Yugi nods and takes the deck. "Okay, Grandpa, I'll do it." he says. "I know you will, my boy." Solomon said before Tea got out a marker. "Everyone, puts your hands together, and I'll mark each of us with a special sign." she said before going to work, drawing a smiley face on her, Tristan's, Joey's and Yugi's right hands and a star, flame, rainbow, butterfly, gem, apple and balloon on the right and left hands of her new friends. "What gives, Tea?" Joey asked. "These markings, when put together, make the sign. It's a symbol of our friendship, so when any of us are dueling, no matter how tough it gets, we'll know we're not alone. We're all right there on the field with him!" Tea eplained. Yugi confidently nods. Outside, an ambulance arrives for Solomon as Tea, Joey and Tristan rush outside with Tristan carrying the old man. "Joey, Tristan and I will take Yugi's grandpa to the hospital. Why don't you get back in there and cheer Yugi on with Twilight and her friends?" Tea said. "Okay, take good care of him, Tea." Joey concurred.
Back inside, Yugi and Kaiba had taken their places for the duel while Twilight and the others were watching from the sidelines. "I designed this virtual stadium myself. Impressive, hmm? I think you'll agree, it adds a bit more life to the game. We each begin with 2000 life points, first player to hit zero loses." Kaiba explained as their duelist platforms moved into place. "Are you ready to play, runt?" Kaiba asked, looking to completely crush Yugi like he did his grandfather. "Playtime is over, Kaiba!" Yugi answered. Suddenly, something caught the eyes of Twilight and her friends as Yugi's Millennium Puzzle began to glow. "Guys, are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Twilight asked. "I think, that might be the power of the Millennium Puzzle!" Spike answered. "Soon, the glow faded, and Yugi had transformed from a small child, to a slightly taller and more confident looking duelist. "What the?!" Kaiba said, slightly startled by Yugi's sudden change in attitude, and so were the gang on the sidelines. "He's changed! He's gotten taller and a lot more confident!" Rarity said. "Now, Kaiba, prepare yourself because it's time to duel!" Yugi said at last. Soon, both players had their hands drawn, five cards each. "Virtual systems ready, so let's begin. I'll start by playing the mighty Hitotsu-Me Giant!" Kaiba said as he put the card into play. Suddenly, something happened on the field itself. "Brace yourself, Yugi. You've never dueled like this before!" Kaiba said as the monster on the card, the Hitotsu-Me Giant, appeared before the startled eyes of Yugi and his friends. "He's brought the monster on the card to life!" Yugi said in surprise. "How did that monster just appear?" Fluttershy asked, worried. "There's no way that thing is real!" Rainbow answered. "It's my virtual simulator. It creates life-like holograms of every Duel Monster and every effect each card in the game carries.
Fluttershy felt somewhat better upoon hearing that the monster on the field was just a hologram. "So this is how you defeated my grandfather! Well, now it's my turn!" Yugi said as he got his first card of the game ready. "I call on the Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress!" he added as he played said card and said monster appeared on the field. Right then and there, Joey ran in and saw the monster holograms. "Wha?! Monsters?! Real monsters?!" he said in shock. "Don't worry, Joey, they're just holograms." Rainbow said. "But this first battle is too easy to predict. Kaiba's Hitotsu-Me Giant is a level four, Earth attribute Beast-Warrior with 1200 attack and 1000 defense points, while Yugi's Winged Dragon is a level four, Wind attribute Dragon with 1400 attack and 1200 defense points. Yugi's dragon is gonna burn that one-eyed giant to a crisp!" Spike said as the giant charged in. "Fireball attack!" Yugi called out as the Winged Dragon fired, completely destroying the Hitotsu-Me Giant. As soon as the giant fell, a child ran in from Kaiba's side of the field. "Big brother! Are you alright?" the boy asked as Kaiba's life points dropped to 1800. "Alright! Go, Yugi!" Joey cheered. "Okay, I take back what I said about this game being kinda dorky. This is kinda cool." Rainbow said with a smile. "Well played, Yugi... for a beginning move. But how will you deal with this?" Kaiba asked as he played his next card, which was a clown. "Saggi the Dark Clown? But that card has hardly any attack strength." Yugi said in surprise. "Yugi's right, Saggi the Dark Clown is a level three, Dark attribute Spellcaster with a mere 600 attack points and 1500 defense points. The Winged Dragon could blow it and 800 of Kaiba's life points to dust." Spike pointed out.
"True, your Winged Dragon's attack power is 1400, while my Dark Clown's is only 600, but if I combine it with this card..." Kaiba said as he played another card. "He played something in his spell and trap zone, but what?" Twilight asked. "A magic card." Yugi said, answering Twilight. "Exactly. The Negative Energy Generator. It multiplies my monster's attack by three." Kaiba confirmed as Saggi's attack power tripled. "Oh, no! That Negative Energy Generator just made Saggi's attack power go up to 1800!" Twilight said in shock. "And that equals 400 life points worth of damage to Yugi!" Spike added "Now, my Dark Clown, attack with Dark Light!" Kaiba commanded. Saggi soon launched a ball of dark energy at the Winged Dragon, destroying it and bringing Yugi's life points down to 1600. "As you can see, combining cards can be very effective." Kaiba said afterwards. "He's good, he knows every aspect of this game, but my grandpa put all his gaming knowledge, his whole heart into assembling this deck. I have to believe that it holds some secret strategy." Yugi thinks to himself as he draws his next card, which looked like a leg bound in a chain and shackle. "This card's useless, I can't beat the Dark Clown with this. I'll have to use a different monster, in defense mode. The monster will be sacrificed, but my overall lifepoints will be safe." he continued to think as he played his next card in defense mode. "Looks like Yugi's going on the defensive, he put his card sideways instead of vertical, that means the monster is in defense mode." Spike pointed out. "I only hope it'll have enough defense points to be a shield against that ghastly grinning clown." Rarity said. "Dark Light attack!" Kaiba commanded as Saggi destroyed Yugi's defense monster, which was a level three, Dark attribute Fiend monster called Sangan, which had 600 defense points and 1000 attack points.
"That looked like Sangan, I only hope Yugi's next monster will have more than 600 defense points like that thing had." Spike said. "Hang in there, Yugi!" Joey called out. Two turns go by and the Dark Clown continued to take down any defensive monster Yugi had, among them a level five, Earth attribute Beast-Warrior monster called Battle Steer, which had 1800 attack points and 1300 defense points, and a level three, Earth attribute Beast monster called Torike, which had 1200 attack points and 600 defense points. "You're not faring any better than the old man did, Yugi. Your deck is just as weak and feeble as your grandfather." Kaiba said. "You take that back, you big meanie!" Pinkie shouted. "My grandpa is a great man and a better Duelist than you'll ever be! He entrusted me with his cards and I can feel his heart in this deck. I doubt you have that kind of faith in your cards, Kaiba! But I believe in my grandpa's deck." Yugi retorted as he drew his next card, and promptly smiles when he saw what it was. "And my faith rewards me with Gaia the Fierce Knight!" he added as he put the card in play. "Gaia?! That card has 2300 attack points!" Spike said in shock. "What?! How could Yugi have drawn a card THAT strong?!" Rainbow asked. "Well, since Gaia is a level seven, Earth attribute warrior monster with 2300 attack points and 2100 defense points, it's pretty powerful to have in your deck. But I have no idea what the chances that he'd pull it this turn were!" Spike answered as Gaia took the field and charged at Saggi, destroying it and taking Kaiba's life points down by 500, leaving him with 1300. "Way to go, Yugi!" Joey called out. "Alright, Kaiba, your move." Yugi said confidently, but Kaiba just laughed. "This will be over sooner than you think." he said as he drew his next card.
"I call on the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Kaiba shouted as the mighty dragon appeared, to everyone's shock. "No way!" Yugi said. "Impossible! We all watched Kaiba tear that card in half!" Joey shouted. "Joey's right! How can he have that monster if he won one from Solomon?" Twilight asked. "Surprised? Did you think your grandfather was the only one to possess a Blue-Eyes White Dragon?" Kaiba asked Yugi as the dragon attacked and destroyed Gaia, lowering Yugi's life points to 900. "Your Fierce Knight is destroyed. Faith or no faith, you will fall before my superior monsters, Yugi. Power is what this game's all about, you fool! Faith is for losers, like your pathetic grandfather." Kaiba said after Gaia was turned to ashes. "If you talk about Yugi's grandpa one more time, you're gonna get it for sure!" Rainbow shouted as Applejack held her back. Two more turns go by, and the Blue-Eyes White Dragon obliterates Yugi's defense monster, among them a level four, Dark attribute Fiend monster called the Horn Imp, which had 1300 attack points and 1000 defense points, and a level four, Earth attribute Beast-Warrior called Beaver Warrior, which had 1200 attack points and 1500 defense points. "In your entire deck, there's not a single card that can stand up to a Blue-Eyes White Dragon. So what hope do you have against two?" Kaiba asked as he played a second Blue-Eyes, to the shock of everyone at ringside. "He had TWO of those?! That can't be fair!" Applejack said. "I'm afraid it is, AJ. You can have up to three copies of one card in your deck." Spike responded. "Why don't you just admit defeat, Yugi?" Kaiba asked. At the hospital, Solomon was being rushed into treatment with Tea and Tristan alongside him. "Don't give up...Yugi." he said weakly.
"I won't give up. Grandpa's counting on me!" Yugi said at last as he drew his next card. "A magic card. Swords of Revealing Light! It stops all monsters on your side of the field for three turns!" he shouted as the swords appeared and surrounded both dragons. "How desperate. What possible good will a three-turn delay do you?" Kaiba pondered. "He's right. What do I do? I can't figure out what to do with these cards. They're just a bunch of pieces." Yugi thought to himself, seeing that his deck had a left arm and two legs, all chained and shackled, and a gator-like monster with blades on its wrists. "How can I use them to battle an expert like Kaiba?" Yugi pondered before hearing a familiar voice in his head. "For someone claiming to have faith, you're giving up too easily, Yugi." said the voice, which turned out to be his grandpa. "Listen. Sometimes the cards are like a puzzle. You have to put all the pieces in their proper place." Sol said. "Like the Millennium Puzzle?" Yugi asked. "Exactly. Each piece helps build a greater entity." Sol answered before disappearing. "Grandpa!" Yugi called. "Like the pieces of a puzzle, Yugi. Remember." Sol said as his voice faded away. "Puzzle? When are the cards like a puzzle?" Yugi pondered, before remembering something. "Wait! Grandpa once said..." Yugi said before remembering exactly what his grandpa said. "Duel Monsters contains only one unstoppable monster, Exodia. But he can only be summoned by drawing all five special cards, a feat that, to this very day, no one has ever accomplished." Solomon explained, revealing the key needed to defeat Kaiba. "Quit your stalling, Yugi, or you will forfeit the match!" Kaiba shouted. "I never forfeit." Yugi retorted before drawing.
What he drew was the Right Arm of Exodia. "Another piece of the puzzle!" Yugi thought to himself before putting one of his cards in defense mode. "Draw and play any card you like, it won't change a thing. My dragons may be frozen for another two turns, but my new monster is under no such spell!" Kaiba said as he played his next card. "The Judge Man, with an attack power of 2200!" he added as the monster brought down one of his clubs on Yugi's defense monster, a level five, Earth attribute Beast-Warrior known as Rude Kaiser, which had 1800 attack points and 1600 defense points. "No surprise that the Judge Man destroyed that monster, it's a level six, Earth attribute Warrior with 2200 attack points and 1500 defense points. More than enough to crush Rude Kaiser." Spike said as Yugi drew his next card, a level seven, Dark attribute Spellcaster called the Dark Magician, which had 2500 attack points and 2100 defense points. "I can attack with the Dark Magician, but he won't stand a chance once Kaiba's dragons are free from my spell." Yugi thought, but he knew he had no choice and played the card. "Dark Magician, attack!" Yugi commanded as the monster took to the field and shattered the Judge Man like glass, amazing Twilight. "Your Judge Man falls!" Yugi declared as Kaiba's life points dropped to 1000. "I think that monster is my favorite." Twilight said with a smile. "I can see why, Twilight. It's got 2500 attack points and its a spellcaster." Spike said, seeing Twilight's reason for liking the monster.
"A sacrifice that doesn't even faze me. And though neither dragon can move, for one more turn. My next card is, the THIRD Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Kaiba says as he drew said card. Yugi and the others were shocked upon hearing Kaiba's words and upon seeing the third and final dragon appear. "Now, my dragon, attack!" Kaiba commanded. In no time, the monster was destroyed and Yugi's life points dropped to 400. "So tell me, Yugi, how's your faith now? On my next turn, all three Blue-Eyes White Dragons are free to attack! This game's over no matter what card you draw. You can't possibly stand against my three Blue-Eyes White Dragons. It's over, Yugi. You were never a match for me." Kaiba boasted. "Don't listen, Yugi!" Joey called as Yugi was still shellshocked, as were Twilight and the others. "That lousy cheat had THREE Blue-Eyes White Dragons the WHOLE TIME?!" Rainbow shouted angrily. "It's not cheating, so it's fair. But I don't like Yugi's chances of surviving a three on one blast from those dragons." Spike said while Yugi looked at his hand. "Kaiba had three Blue-Eyes all along! He only wanted grandpa's card so it couldn't be used against him. My only chance now is to assemble all the pieces of Exodia, but the odds are against me. I don't know if I can do this." Yugi thought to himself. Suddenly, he started to see the deck move away from him. "The deck! It senses my doubt!" Yugi said. As Yugi thought to himself, Twilight and the others could somehow see into his mind and found TWO Yugis. The one they knew, and the taller one that was dueling. "This is amazing! The Millennium Puzzle created a second Yugi!" Spike said in bewilderment.
"Actually, Spike, I can somehow feel the taller Yugi is much more, ancient. Like he was INSIDE the Millennium Puzzle!" Twilight retorted as they saw the smaller Yugi, though transparent, behind the taller one. "Don't lose focus, Yugi! Don't lose faith! Concentrate!" the taller Yugi said before finding his part of the Frienship Symbol on his right hand and pictures his friends putting their hands over and around the deck. "Yugi, we're all right here with you." Tea said. "Yugi, you've got to believe in yourself." Tristan added. "Because we believe in you." Twilight and her friends put in. "You can do it, just kick Kaiba's butt." finished Joey. "They're right. I've got to believe in the cards like my friends believe in me." Yugi said, with confidence regained. "Draw your last pathetic card so I can end this, Yugi." Kaiba said to his opponent. "My grandpa's deck has no pathetic cards, Kaiba. But it does contain...the unstoppable Exodia!" Yugi retorts as he reveals he drew the final piece of Exodia, the head, bringing a look of shock to Kaiba. "Impossible!" Kaiba screamed as Yugi put all five pieces of Exodia on his side of the field. "I've assembled all five special cards! All five pieces of the puzzle!" Yugi shouted as the one and only Exodia the Forbidden one appeared on the field through a star shaped seal. "There's no way! Yugi had the five pieces of the Forbidden One in his deck?!" Spike shouted in disbelief. "Look at the size of that thing!" Pinkie said in shock. "That thing's gigantic!" Applejack said in amazement. "Bigger than that, it's enormous if not humungous!" Twilight put in. "It's gargantuan!" Rarity shouted. "That's the biggest creature I've ever seen!" Fluttershy said with her mouth agap. "I think Kaiba's dragons are in BIG TROUBLE!" Rainbow said with a smile as she took in the size of Exodia, while Kaiba was horrified.
"Exodia! It's not possible! No one's ever been able to call him!" Kaiba said as he reeled back in terror, knowing just what was going to happen. "Exodia, OBLITERATE!" Yugi commanded. And with one blast, all three dragons were destroyed as Kaiba screamed and his life points hit zero, meaning Yugi was the winner. "You did it! Yugi, you won!" Joey shouted happily. "He just took out the number one favorite to win the Duel Monsters world championship with the biggest and most powerful monster in the game!" Rainbow said, still amazed that Yugi managed to pull out Exodia. "This can't be! My brother never loses!" Kaiba's little brother said, having witnessed the whole thing. "You play only for power, Kaiba, and that is why you lost. But if you put your heart in the game, there's nothing you can't do." Yugi said, gladly explaining the reason why the world champion fell. "But...but how? How could I have lost to him?!" Kaiba asked himself, still in shock. Next thing Twilight and her friends knew, an eye appeared on Yugi's foreheard and Twi felt great magic power coming from him. "Kaiba, if you truly want to know... OPEN YOUR MIND!" Yugi shouted. Twilight soon felt what happened as Yugi SHATTERED, if not CRUSHED Kaiba's mind. "Whoa! I just felt a dark presense leave Kaiba's mind!" Twilight said as Kaiba dropped to his knees. "There, Kaiba. Maybe now, you will begin to see." Yugi said. Back at the hospital, Solomon woke up. "Grandpa's awake!" Tea said with relief. "Yugi won." he simply said. Meanwhile, elsewhere, someone enters a dark room with important news. "Mr. Pegasus, sir. Seto Kaiba, our uncontested champion, he's been defeated in a duel, sir. By someone named, Yugi." Pegasus simply smiled as he held a glass of wine in his hand and a golden eye in his left socket flashed.
