Chapter 10
The class wasn't bad at all. I had gotten to meet All might. I remember hearing stories about him when I was younger. The symbol of peace they called him. He was very kind. He was really close with Izuku from what I could see. I liked it here, I really do, but I couldn't help but think about what the recovery girl had told me that he would come back for me. One half of me wanted to stay, while the other half want to run with him. I sighed rubbing my temples. The bang rang and I shot up from my desk. I was so in my head that I had blanked out for the entire class. I didn't even realize that I was the only one left.
"Yami."
It was Aizawa by the door. I grabbed my things going over to him.
"Aizawa."
"Aizawa – sensei." He corrected.
I smiled. "Aizawa – sensei," I repeated.
"Follow me." He said.
I nodded following him down the hallway and closing the door behind us. He sat behind his desk, and I sat opposite him.
"You're adjusting I see." he'd said.
I gave him a small smile. "I am."
"You like it here." he'd said.
I nodded. "I do."
"You're getting along well with the other students and that seems to make you happy. That fight with Bakugo, while unauthorized was very impressive. You show real promise. I'm sure you're going to make a great hero."
I grinned like an idiot, looking down at my hands. "I've always wanted to be a hero," I said letting it slip.
I pressed my lips together, regretting letting him know that. I did like it here, but I was still a bit on the offense. I hadn't really sorted out my feelings yet.
"You've always wanted to be a hero huh? You certainly have the skills. Bakugo is one of our best fighters. For him not to have landed a single hit on you, that is saying something."
I gave him an awkward smile, twiddling my thumbs.
"The core mission of being a hero is to protect people. It is what we do daily. Protect people from villains… Dabi does not do that Yami. He does the opposite. He hurts people, kills them to get a reaction from the hero association."
I clenched my jaw, balling up my fists at their side. Was it because I didn't want him talking about Dabi? Or was it because it was the truth?
"Do you have feelings for him?"
My head shot up. "We're just friends," I said a little too quickly.
Did I?
"I see." He said, but he didn't sound convinced. "It sounds as though you were trying to convince yourself more than you were me Yami. Maybe in another life, you two could have been together-"
"Stop! I do not have feelings for him. He's my friend he helped me-"
"Leave the Hitozatohanareta." He interrupted.
I was confused. "How did you…" I said trailing off, but that's when it hit me. "Ochako," I said.
Aizawa avoided my gaze.
"Did you tell her to be my friend just to get information from me? Did you tell the same to the other kids too?"
"No. I did not. Whatever friendships you made with the other students are genuine." He told me.
"Except for Ochako." I bit out.
"Do not blame her for this. I asked her to do this, and she only wanted to help."
I gnawed at the inside of my cheek.
I already didn't fully feel comfortable with these people, and he managed to make it worse.
"I already know what you're answer is going to be, but I need to ask you this. Will you help us with finding Dabi, and the other villains?"
I stayed silent, and Aizawa wasn't surprised.
"What if he were to try and hurt the people in your village? He is very unpredictable Yami."
"He would never do that," I said matter of fact. "Are you done interrogating me?"
"Yami that is not what- "
"I want to go back to my room now," I said with my head down.
He sighed. "Alright,"
I stormed out speed walking to my room. Unfortunately, I ended up running into Bakugo in the hallway on my way there. I turned my back to him rubbing my eyes.
"You know whatever tears you're trying to hide; I already saw them."
I turned back to him. "Can you excuse me?"
"You got somewhere to be?" He asked
"My room."
"You want to talk about it?" he asked.
I looked at him long and hard. I had already made the mistake of trusting someone too much.
"That depends. Are you only talking to me to get information out of me?"
He shook his head. "Seeing as I didn't like you about two days ago, no. You've already seen what it looks like when I've tried to pick a fight with you."
"I'm trusting you, please don't make me regret it. Or, I'll have to kick your butt again."
We both laughed and walked back to my room. I opened the door waiting for him to come in.
He looked at me funny. "You want me to come in?"
"Well yeah. Is there something wrong?"
He shook his head, slowly walking into my room. His face was all red again. I got closer, our noses almost touching. "You're not comfortable around girls, are you?"
He jumped back. "Yes, I am, what are you talking about!?"
I sat down on my bed laughing at him. "Sure, you are."
He sucked his teeth, sitting at the bottom of the bed. "So, what's wrong with you?"
"Ochako."
He looked surprised. "That cinnamon roll? What'd she do to you?"
"Aizawa told her to get close to me to get information from me, and like an idiot, I trusted her and told her everything. Then she just ran right back to him and told him. I was so eager to fit in and make friends, even if I wasn't acting like it. I thought she was my friend. Everyone wants to just use me to get to Dabi."
I heard him sigh. "You don't know what he's done to people or us. Not to mention his other friends. I understand why you are hurt, but Ochako did what she did because she wanted to help."
"So, I've heard… I just. It's just that this monster you're telling me he is. I haven't seen him. I spent time with him for months. He shared things with me, and I shared things with him. He risked his life bringing me to recovery girl, to save my life because he cares about me… and I care about him." I said whispering the last part.
Bakugo sighed again, laying down and folding his hand behind his head. "I'm not going to sit here and pretend to understand what you're going through. Sounds to me like you're heart and your head are at odds." He'd said.
I lay down, staring at the ceiling. "You have no idea. You know, you're alright kid." I laughed.
"Kid? You're only a few months older than me."
I turned my head. "How'd you know that?"
He ignored me, his face getting red again. I grinned. "Did you ask about me? I didn't know you had a thing for older women Bakugo. Especially one who beat you up."
He snorted. "You're only seventeen, and you did not beat me up."
I laughed out loud, and it felt nice. "Almost eighteen. So, you do have a thing for me." I joked.
He stood up. "I just like the fact that you're a good fighter, one of the best that we have here. We need that."
"A great fighter." I corrected.
He smirked. "Yeah, whatever." He said heading for the door. "You should get some rest. There's a surprise for you tomorrow." He said closing the door behind him.
His company was fun, and I enjoyed teasing him, but now I was alone again and all I could do was think and stare at this stupid ceiling.
"This is just great."
