Chapter 11

I had been sitting in my dorm for about an hour, waiting for Bakugo to come and get me. So, I could see this so call surprise. There was a knock on the door. I went over to it and opened the door. Ochako stood there staring back at me. I folded my arms, staring at her. She just stood there playing with her hands,

"Can I come in?"

"No."

"Okay, that's fair. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. It's just that- "

"You wanted to help, right?"

I understood but that didn't mean that I had to like it.

"I'm sorry. I really mean it." She said again.

I noticed Bakugo coming down the hallway.

"Well," I said. "We were supposed to be friends and friends don't do that to one another," I said closing the door behind myself.

I went over to him, grabbed his hand, and walking the other direction.

"Don't be so hard on her," he said in her defense.

"Yeah, yeah just take me to my surprise why don't you."

I followed him and he led me to some department.

"The support class?" I asked looking at him funny. "What are we doing here?"

He shook his head. "You have a lot to learn." He'd said.

He knocked on the door, a voice calling for us to come in, and we did. The was a girl there, she was pretty. A bit strange looking but pretty. She walked up to me examining me all over, lifting my arms and circling around me.

"Mhm." She'd said. "Great physique, very beautiful. I know it will fit just right."

"What will fit?" I asked her.

She stuck her hand out to me, ignoring my question. "Mei Hatsume, nice to meet you."

I took it." Yami Hikari, nice to meet you too. So, what will fit exactly."

She let her hand fall to her side. "Your hero costume silly."

I looked over at Bakugo, my eyes wide looking back at Mei.

I grabbed her hands, squeezing them. "I get a costume!?"

She squeezed my hands back. "Of course, you do! Come let me show it to you." She pulled me over to the table. It was still covered by some cloth.

"So, from what I heard from the others in class 1A. You have a plethora of quirks, and there is a good chance that they will keep growing. I should have waited to talk to you first, but I was just so excited. So, I stayed up all night whipping it up. If anything, we can just revisit it and make some adjustments to it."

She dragged the cover off and I marvel at it I couldn't lie. It was all black, but it was sleek. Made out of some fancy kind of material, there were a bunch of cut-out openings though.

"Let me just start by saying it is entirely flame retardant. The back is cut out because a little birdie told me that you can sprout wings."

Aizawa. No need though I got rid of those.

"This material is not only meant to not burn, but it keeps you cool too if your body temperature rises too much. Vise versa if it drops as well. You see I wasn't sure if you'd be adding any more quirks to your belt. So, I took it upon myself to incorporate things that would make it compatible with their quirks too. OH! The shoes! If you click the heels together, these buttons will press against one another, and the bottoms will open. I heard about how you were shooting flames out of your hands and feet. When you were fighting Bakugo, so, when you shoot flames out of your feet you won't ruin your boots. The slight bulk at the wrists is a much smaller and cuter version of the gloves that Bakugo has on his costume. It helps to focus the blast so it won't blow up in your face. There's this cute mask that's for your eyes. Purely for aesthetic purposes though. Oh, one more thing. It has pockets. As everything should."

"Can I try it on!?"

She grinned. "I'd be insulted if you didn't."

I snatched it off the table, running into the bathroom to change. I looked at myself in the mirror. It fit like a glove. It felt good and it looked even better. The boots were comfortable. I clicked the heels playing with them. Getting excited each time it opened and closed. I walked out letting them see it. Bakugo stood in the corner, red as a tomato as usual, and Mei's eyes sparkled as she looked me up and down.

She grinned. "I really outdid myself didn't I."

I took the mask off, shoving it into my one of many pockets.

"Come on we have to go show it to the others, they're waiting for you." He said pulling me away.

I waved bye to Mei as he dragged me off. We ended up in the courtyard again. Everyone was in their hero costumes too and I couldn't help but smile. Aizawa was there too, along with All might. Bakugo had disappeared for a little while to go change into his costume.

"Alright, everyone! Today you will be heading to your Hero Agency internships. Yami you will be coming with me." Aizawa said.

I watched them all leave through the gate except for one student that stood next to Aizawa. He wore all black too, with a long black cloak. He was sort of glaring at me.

"Yami, this is Tokoyami. He works for Hawks."

"Hawks?"

"The hero you put in the hospital." He snapped at me.

Aizawa set his hand on his shoulder, and he stepped away from me. We started to walk, I was sure where to, but the silence between us was really awkward. As for Tokoyami, he had every right not to like me. This Hawks person must be very close to him. I had been in my head for so long that I didn't even realize that we had stopped, right in front of a hospital. We walked right in, and they let us. It didn't take long for me to figure out who we were here to see. From the moment we stepped into the elevator I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Standing in front of the door, it pounded so loudly I could hear it in my ears.

Tokoyami pushed the door open, and we followed him in. That's when I saw him. Laying there all bandaged up, Recovery Girl at his side. I heard sniffling, and turning my head I saw that Tokoyami was trying not to cry.

I was right… they are close… very close.

"Come on now, don't cry. I'm alright. Just a bit banged up. Nothing that I can't handle. C'mon"

He threw the blanket off of him, showing his legs. He pulled Tokoyami into a quick hug.

I got this unsettling feeling in my stomach. His wings were crooked, and his legs were bruised and cut up. A broken arm, broken legs, busted lip, blackened eye. I wanted to throw up.

I did that to him. This was my fault. I am the reason that he was here.

He turned to me giving me a smile. "You must be Yami. You are all the hero association can talk about. It is very nice to meet the kid, who outsmarted us, heroes."

"I am so sorry." I croaked out.

He looked surprised that those were the first words I'd said to him.

It just came out, like word vomit. I swallowed the lump in my throat. Trying my best not to cry, and it was not working. My eyes were beginning to sting.

"I never wanted to hurt anyone. I was just trying to help my friend." I didn't realize how much my voice was trembling until now.

Hawks gave me a soft smile and held his hand to me.

"Don't sweat it. I'll be alright."

I grabbed it, healing him. The green light enveloped him. I heard the others gasp at how much I could heal. I'm sure Recovery-Girl had done all that she could. I let his hand go. I just stood there waiting for him to say something. He looked at his hands and legs, flexing his wings.

He grinned at me. "Well, aren't you full of surprises?" Hawks said.

"My word," Recovery-Girl said. "See Tokoyami, I'm all better now. I hope you won't hold it against her."

Tokoyami still didn't look at me, and I didn't blame him.

"I hope you could all give me a few moments alone with Miss Hikari here." Hawks said.

They exited the room one by one, leaving me alone with him.

He turned his attention back to me. "Well, I'm glad you're on our side. I already lost to you once." He joked. "You know Aizawa fought for you when the others wanted to treat you like a criminal."

My shoulders slumped slightly. "I didn't know that."

Hawks smiled. "He may look a bit standoffish, but he has a soft spot for kids. Especially his students. Don't be too hard on him. He just wants to do the right thing. He wants you to do the right thing."

"And doing the right thing is putting Dabi away…"

Hawks nodded. "I shouldn't be giving you this, but I had it brought to me. I thought you deserved to see the truth rather than hear it."

He reached beside his bed handing me a bag, with a few folders.

"Hold onto that until you get back to school. When you look at that, then you will understand."

I had to admit. I was afraid to see exactly what was in these files.
