First Foe was likely an early example of a Dragon. The dragon species itself is not pure evil, since no species is, but their pagan ways, religion, and violence resulted in many clashes throughout history between us and them.
First Foe is said to have been the worst villain ever faced by any of our kind, and from the accounts he likely was. Fay's record claims that the beast was, when raised to his full height, as 'tall as a mountain and greater than a hurricane'. Although this was likely an exaggeration, it does emphasize the creature's strength and size in comparison to Flint, who, as mentioned earlier, was likely young.
Evidently, the type of dragon Flint fought was different from the kind that would meet king Whitson Mariner nearly three hundred years later. For instance, this dragon had wings like a hawk's, whereas the later dragons did not. Whether or not the dragons actually did originally come from the mountain range of Immoveable Mountain is still a subject of debate, but it is likely. Despite the differences, it is plausible that the two sub-types were the same.
