Chapter 70: Trial By Squire

It was tradition at Quest buy for the Squires of Mewni to buy things for their knight. Thankfully there was a rarely used Loophole to have guides as well.

"So it's really not against the rules?" asked Luffy.

"Luffy… you are going to be a pirate… why do you care about rules?" asked Marco.

Luffy just laughed.

Start was especially excited for it, as the entire store was on sale for the squires.

She even took out a for something she wanted which was a tree costume.

"I've had my eye on this baby for a long time." She said.

"We're not getting that." Said Marco.

"What?" asked Luffy.

"See I made a list of everything we need with coupons and everything." Said Marco.

"Oh…" said Star sounding disappointed.

"You know Star doesn't need that stuff." Said Luffy.

"It doesn't matter." Said Marco not really paying attention to what Luffy just said. He was just forced on what a knight needed.

Luffy pouted at this.

"You wanted meat didn't you?" asked Star.

"Yeah…" said Luffy.

"I'll buy meat for you another time." Said Star.

"Okay…" pouted Luffy.

After all he was helping them he should be rewarded.

That was also when a group of other squires showed up and were admiring Marco's list.

One was a teen girl named Higgs, one was a baby like man named Baby Man and the last was an old man named Old Guy.

The three even introduced their knights…

However while they seemed friendly Luffy looked at them.

"What's wrong?" asked Star.

"I don't know…' said Luffy.

Normally he wasn't suspicious of people but the squires just rubbed him the wrong way.

It didn't help that that Higgs called Marco a nerd as she walked off.

It was time to choose the ship carts… which had little steeds that the knights can ride and Star found a rather cute one and she jumped on it.

"I'm surprised they have a cute horse." Said Marco.

"Hey Luffy!" called out one of the sloth workers.

"hey." Said Luffy.

"Oh right… weird friendship." Said Marco, "Though I'm surprised they went out of their way…. You know what I'm not going to think about it too much."

And soon it was time for the sale to begin.

"All right time for the 1000th Annual Squire Blow out to begin…" called out one of the sloth workers.

And so the Squires and their knights (or Princess in Star's case) all ran to the stuff.

However Star's shopping cart began to shake a lot.

And soon enough the wheels fell off.

The other squires were laughing and Old Guy tossed a wrench at them after taunting them.

Marco started to freak out.

"Marco… Marco calm down!" said Star.

"But all the good stuff will be gone when we get there." Said Marco.

"But Star doesn't care about the "good stuff"…" said Luffy.

But Marco didn't listen. Though he did clam down when Star replaced the wheels. With hamsters balls… but replaced them none the less.

"Come on! We can make it!" said Star.

"All right! Luffy take us to the chest plates." Said Marco.

Luffy nodded and led the way.

They got to the chest plates.

"There's one left." Said Star, "IT's all good."

That was when baby man slammed his face into the last chest piece and mocking them.

"Are you kidding me!" said Marco.

"It's fine… it's fine…" said Star, "I don't even wear a chest plate…"

However the reassurance didn't help him as he decided to no follow the exact list.

"This is going to end badly." Said Star.

"Yeah." Laughed Luffy.

They headed to the area for Starter Horses. Which were tiny horses…

"What are starter horses?" asked Luffy.

"I have no idea." Said Star.

Star looked at the starter horses, she saw one that was expositional cute.

"I want that one!" said Star.

"No sorry Start but I already compared them all and I figured out which two were the best." Said Marco explaining what the two he wanted to get had.

"Uh… that one…" said Star not really caring.

"Good choice." Said Marco squeezing it while showing off the airbags it came with.

He placed it in the cart while deciding what to go for next.

However that was when suddenly a carrot appeared in front of the starter and it big in to it.

It was attached to a fishing pole and Higgs was the one holding it stealing the little starter horse.

However Luffy grab the start horse midair before it could be placed in her cart.

There was an awkward silence.

"Higgs! What are you doing!" scolded her knight Sir Stabby.

"Nothing!" she denied tossing away the fishing pole.

Sir Stabby sighed.

"I apologize for my Squire." Apologized the knight.

"What!" yelled Higgs.

"You tried a back hanged tactic to steal from the Princess' squire." Said Sir Stabby.

Higgs frowned but then grabbed the starter horse that Star initially wanted due to its cuteness.

She was grumbling at her plans were foiled.

"Thanks Luffy." Said Marco.

"Yeah…" said Luffy.

Marco blinked at this.

But decided to go with the next thing.

Dragon Repellent which he went by himself.

"HE won't listen." Said Luffy pouting.

"I know…" sighed Star.

That was when Luffy noticed that Marco didn't walk to the dragon repellent but rather dragon attractant.

And the area was now swarming with dragons.

They found Marco under a dragon.

And it appeared his anger had gotten worse .

"There's one more thing we need!" yelled Marco.

"Marco! Calm down…" said Star.

"Star doesn't need whatever you want to buy." Said Luffy.

"It doesn't matter! We're getting the armor wax!" yelled Marco.

And so they ran to the Armor Wax which only had one bottle left.

However the other squires noticed this.

And the race was one.

However in the madness, Marco deliberately crashed into Higgs.

And once he grabbed the bottle he cheered in victory.

However Star was upset as the others were injured in the madness.

"Marco!" scolded Star.

She grabbed the bottle.

"She's faking it." Said Marco.

"She probably is… but this isn't you." Said Luffy.

"What?" asked Marco.

Star gave the bottle to Higgs.

"Here you go, I'm so sorry." Said Star.

"Ha! Thanks for the wax suckers!" said Higgs.

She ran off with the other squires following her.

Marco became depressed over this.

Luffy looked at Star who knew she had to talk to him.

Marco admitted to certain things including how he felt about being a squire…

"First of all I'm a princess not a knight and I'm going to look good whatever I do. And second I made you a squire because you needed something new so I bent the rules. I'm a princess so I don't need that stuff. I got a magic wand. Also you being a squire also means we can hang out and do silly stuff and those damn other squires can kiss my ass if they think they can walk over you!" said Star.

"Only one minute left for the Squire Blow-out!" was an announcement.

"Star come on." Said Marco.

"Marco we don't need any of those things…" sighed Star.

"I know…" said Marco, "Come on!"

The brother and sister realized what he was getting at.

To get the stuff that Star wanted… and also meat to pay back Luffy.

And they made it to the cash register in time.

With Marco and Star play fighting with goofy things, much to Higgs' announcement but the amusement of Sir Stabby.

Though there were some hiccups, Marco realized he didn't need to be a traditional squire… after all his "knight" was just his best friend and a princess and they could just have fun…
