Prompt: "You kept this?"
Pairing: Izuku/Katsuki
Katsuki Bakugou was sitting in his room, demolishing the area until he found a particular box full of items and nicknacks he and his childhood friend gathered together. He had forgotten this box for years since he separated himself from the Nerd, but now he needed something to keep his mind from going insane. A shred of hope.
A few days ago, never would he have thought that this bright-eyed, green-haired Nerd would have tried to commit suicide by jumping off the fucking roof of Aldera Middle School. Never would he have thought that he would have taken his advice to jump off the building when he usually ignores his taunts and threats. Never would he have thought to jump off the roof with him to stop him from ending his life, instantly regretting what he had said that made Izuku tempt fate.
The blonde used his Quirk to slow their fall, and landed on the ground with a thud. He waited a few moments for the shock to pass before he was about to round on Izuku about what the hell he was thinking about but he only met the fist of the now enraged greenette.
"You dumbass, KacchanWhy didn't you let me die!? It would have been best for both you and mom!" He continued punching him for a few seconds until Katsuki grabbed his wrists and rolled him onto his back. "I am useless…I have always been…mom…she doesn't care…K-kacchan doesn't care…"
Those words hit Katsuki hard. What did he mean his mom didn't care? He knew Izuku would think that he wouldn't care but his mom? "Deku…what is going on?"
Izuku broke down and revealed everything to the blonde. His mom was abusing and sexually assaulting him for years and none of them ever had a clue. Telling Katsuki ways of her treating him, marking him, using him made his blood boil at this. It wasn't the blonde's suggestion that tipped Izuku's scale, it was the fat whale who used him as fucking merchandise.
One phone call to his mom was all it took for the female matriarch to drive to her 'former' friends' house and beat the ever-living shit out of her, and use all the 'items' she had found hidden behind the wall. She was disgusted at the items she used on her son, but this will be VENGEANCE!
Mitsuki did end up in jail temporarily until the police found out what started the altercation and proof of injuries on the greenette. Tsukauchi even didn't tolerate the abusers so he paid for her bond.
Meanwhile, for Izuku's safety and apparent attempt, he was placed on a psychiatric hold. It was so sad to hear him not wanting to live anymore, not knowing who ever cared or loved him, and even abandoning his dream of becoming a Pro Hero.
That crushed Katsuki's heart to hear that Izuku lost his will to pursue his dream. True he told him to leave that dream, but now he just looks defeated and he hated that look more than the nerd's stupid dream.
That is why he is back in his room, looking for that certain box. He opened it and tossed items and figurines until he found a particular book, a book that had both our dreams and promises. Finding what he was looking for he went back to the hospital the next day and waited for Izuku to come to meet him after his session.
Thirty minutes had passed when the door finally opened and Izuku came through, looking just as defeated and like the dead. The greenette walked slowly towards the table and sat down with a distant stare, like not acknowledging that Katsuki was with him or that he wasn't even in this world.
Katsuki gave a slight cough to get the greenette's attention and put the notebook in front of him. "De-Izuku, do you remember this book?"
He had to tap the slightly discolored green notebook to get Izuku's attention and eventually the greenette looked down. It took several seconds for him to recognize it. "You kept this?"
Katsuki nodded and leaned back a bit. "Yeah, I did. Do you remember what they are about?"
He noticed Izuku's look harden. "Nothing but useless dreams." He said harshly and shoved it back to the blonde. "Why did you bring it here? I thought my dream to become a Hero was pathetic."
"It wasn't."
Izuku glared back at Katsuki for a second, thinking that the blonde was trying to lie until he noticed his features had changed, it looked unusual compared to his angry look. Bakugou looked…remorseful. "I don't understand, Kacchan."
"I know I was harsh with my words, but the truth was I didn't think it was nonsense. I was…scared…worried about you going this route in following the path."
Izuku's eyes widened as he was being told vulnerable information the blonde was telling him. He was worried if he became a hero or tried to.
"You were born Quirkless and I wanted to protect you, yet my pride as someone with a powerful yet promising Quirk made it hard to keep you safe. In the end I ended up hurting you, both physically and mentally. I didn't know my methods would tip the scales."
Katsuki felt the edge of his eyes sting at what his heart was revealing. "I cared for you, yet it was also hard to show my feelings. I was also afraid to lose you, thinking that going Hero would have been instant death for you. I can't lose you Izuku."
He then shoved the book back to the greenette. "Open up page 24."
Curious, Izuku opened the book and turned to the requested page. He read for a few seconds before stopping with eyes wide before tears started to fall from his eyes. "No matter what path we take, Deku, I will always love you. Follow your dream as a Quirk analyst, and I will protect you when I become a hero."
"I-I totally forgot that I wanted to become an analyst first. I wanted to before I became 4 but then things changed when I was diagnosed quirkless. Then my mom…I had no choice but try to make a name for myself, and I thought being a hero would be it." Izuku said, slightly frustrated with himself but having a slight smile on his face. The color of his eyes became more vibrant. "You love me, Kacchan?"
Katsuki choked and turned a beet red before nodding. He closed his eyes for a brief second and at that moment he felt soft lips contacting his, and he opened his eyes in shock. Izuku had kissed him, and it felt so nice and he felt the energy revitalizing the greenette. Izuku released his kiss and gave Katsuki a look of contentment.
"Wait for me."
Katsuki nodded and hugged the greenette. "I will, not even Satan himself will drag me away."
