Chapter 4: Mikael
It was so silent as I entered the graveyard, walking fast as I could as I scanned for the name Bonnie gave me. When I found it, there were candles lit inside and I stepped in, feeling my hair stand on end and in the next moment, I was against the wall with a hand around my neck. "Daddy!" I choked out as I met his eyes and he released me, realizing who I was. I gasped and fell to the ground, seeing a body lying in the corner. "Kara?" I heard his voice for the first time in years and years. I stood up and nodded, before running into his open arms. "Are you alright?" I asked as I cried into his chest, smelling his scent once more. "I am fine. What are you doing here?" I leaned back and told him I had searched for him for years and years, trying to figure where he disappeared to.
"A witch trapped me here. I was unable to tell you. She got me by surprised. My sweet girl. Still so beautiful and strong. You look like you have been taken care of. The witches have been true to their words?" I nodded, "After all these years, they have kept me safe and hidden. Someone altered my memories, locked it away. I just got it all back. I had no idea who was I really." he nodded, seemingly happy with that as he's arrangement had been kept. He noticed me looking at the body on the ground, why did it look familiar. "A vampire, Kara. Do not worry. She will awaken soon. But now that means you have to go, I don't want anyone to find out of your existence." "I don't want to leave you again. Please don't make me."
I begged him, digging my nails into his shirt. He chuckled and cupped my chin, making me look up at him. "Kara, we will not be apart for long. Once I end Klaus…and the others." I paused, but nodded, knowing that this was what was best. "Go back to the Bennett witches. They will keep you safe while I track the others and end them. I will come find you after and we can be together again." I went to speak but he held up his hand, "Do as I say, Child. Now." his tone changed and sent a shiver of fear through me. "Of course, Always." I said and gave him a final squeeze before holding his hand for as long as I could as I backed away.
I wanted to stay, I wanted to help him…but I would always do as he asked, it was my sole goal to make him happy and help him reach his goal. I went to my car and waited for a moment, watching the dimly lit area as if I could see him. He saved me…I would do anything for him, he was my father after all. I drove away, knowing that he would keep his word, he would return for me once his mission was finished. I text Bonnie telling her that I was on the way to her and we needed to talk. It was time she knew the real truth. When I reached town, I tried to call her but she didn't answer, so I went to Elena's, she would know.
"She went over to Ric's." Jeremy told me and I sighed, why was it so hard to track people these days, with all the technology and new stuff, it should be easier, not harder. I went to Ric's and was stopped at the door, I knocked and Elena opened it. "Kara? You're back?" "Alaric, please invite me in." he appeared and looked at me, "She's a vampire?" "She's a friend." Elena told him and he invited me in, I noticed all the photos everywhere. I flashed over and began to scan them all, it was so old, so familiar…it brought back memories. Elena left after a while and I sat, holding the photos as Alaric just stared at me, shocked.
"You asked me to come over?" I lifted my face, the tears pooling in my eyes as Bonnie walked in. "Yeah, she came over looking for you but when she saw the photos, she just started going through them all and not saying anything. I figured it would be best if you came to talk to her." she sat beside me, taking the photo from my hand that had Mikael written in the Old Viking Runic. "Kara, are you alright?" I sighed and wiped my eyes, shaking myself from my mind. "Bonnie, I really need to speak in private. But I got distracted." "Can you read this?" Bonnie asked and I nodded brushing my fingers across the ones with Elijah, Niklaus and Rebekah. "I can." "How is this possible? This is from the Original's time."
I looked at her and sighed, nodding, "I know." "How old are you Kara?" Alaric asked and I met Bonnie's eyes…she knew the answer now. "You're an Original too?" her whisper was filled with fear and I took her hand. "I am not your enemy, none of you. My mission has always been to kill Klaus." I told them, but Bonnie asked, "Are you their sister?" I went to answer but her phone rang and it was Elena. I could hear her saying that Damon and Stefan were found by Mikael and that they were on their way to lure Klaus back so Mikael could kill him. "Let's go, you can tell me everything when we meet up with the others." Bonnie said and we left, letting her drive.
I explained my whole story to her, explaining her families part and who I truly was. She didn't speak for a while, taking it all in as I waited, it was quiet as she drove to their house. "I need to get back. I…want some time to deal with this myself. I'll call you later. Go on ahead." I wanted to object, but I let her have her space, she deserved the truth and happiness in life, if being away from all this vampire stuff gave her that, then that was what I wanted her to have. I went into the house to see Mikael and Elena pulling the dagger out of his heart. Rebekah was there, as well, she went to look at me but I flashed away, not wanting her to know about me. I wasn't ready for that.
Damon appeared in the hallway I was standing in, asking me why I was there. "Tell me the plan for Klaus." he did as I asked, my compulsion forcing him to explain it all. I left right after, heading to the school where they would lure Klaus to their house. By the time I got to the school, there was water coming out. I needed to tell them, the plan needed to change now, Klaus was already here somehow…somewhere. I tried calling but no answer, and then everything went black before I could do anything else.
I blinked as I rolled my head forward, feeling the aches of death as I came back. I focused and saw a man in front of me, his eyes glowing yellow with the veins of vampire. He was a hybrid of course, Klaus must have been making him while he was away. I was tied up, but I still struggled. "Now Now, calm down." I heard his voice and my body stopped moving, he walked in, his smirking face staring me down. "I seen you before. With the Witch, Bonnie. Just who are you?" he dismissed the guy and we were alone as he came close and knelt to my level in the chair. It was the first time I ever had getting a really good look at him.
He didn't look all that scary, he was actually quite handsome and charming looking. Yet I knew that behind those blue eyes were yellow ones, ready to rip out anyone's heart that went against him. He was close as I looked at me, his eyes searching my face for something. "Do I know you from somewhere else?" he asked, his voice low and honest. I shook my head, I needed to get away from here, I needed to find Mikael and let him kill Klaus once and for all. "Don't make me compel you, love." I blinked, he could try but of course with myself being an Original, it wouldn't work. "Why are you keeping me here?" "You seemed to be ahead of the other fools that are plotting against me. It peeked my curiosity. You feel…familiar to me."
"You hurt my friends, so I am not a friend to you. Either kill me or let me go." he got even closer, our faces inches apart as his eyes bore into mine. They were so blue, so bright…what was this feeling? Was he compelling me? Impossible. Then he traced his finger along my cheek and spoke, "Very well." then I felt the pain of a stake piercing my heart. I gasped and choked before everything began to fade. His face was the last thing I saw before darkness consumed me. I gasped as air filled my lungs and forced myself back, breaking the chair and allowing me to pull the stake from my chest. What time was it? I could hear music and partying now, so it must be after the dance. Did the plan work? Did I ruin it by getting caught? I need to find Mikael now.
I ran out the building and saw a huge crowd, I snuck around all the hybrids there and finally heard Mikael speaking. "Your impulse, Niklaus. It has and will forever be the one thing that keeps you from truly being great." I rounded the corner in time to see the hybrids on the ground in pain and Mikael staring into the house as I could see Klaus screaming. I heard Damon's voice and the Klaus flashed out, tackling Mikael to the ground. I didn't see the stake until father glanced at me with shock in his eyes. "NO!" I screamed as Klaus stood up and Mikael's body began to flame.
I ran to him and Klaus noticed was I still alive, but his focus was on Mikael, as he groaning and cried out in pain as he was consumed by the flames. I wanted to reach for him, but he was burning already and I knew he was gone. I let the tears fall as I had to watch my father burn, he was gone forever, we would never be together again. I looked up to see Klaus inside with Stefan. Klaus looked over at me as I stood up, breathing heavily as I tried to calm down. "What are you?" he asked and started toward me but I took off, disappeared from his piercing eyes as I let my emotions rage.
I went home and destroyed it all, tearing everything I ever knew apart, feeling my heart shatter with grief of my father dying. It was too much, I wished I was younger so I that I could turn off the pain, the hurt, everything. I didn't want to care anymore, but I was too old for such hope. I sank to the ground and cried, feeling so broken that I would never be fixed again. "Ah…there you are." I snapped my head up at his voice, those blue eyes on me once more.
