Gina took a breath and picked up her phone. "I'll be right here if you need me." EJ said putting a hand on her shoulder. "Ok" Gina clicked on Jamie's contact and waited the phone rang once, twice. "Hey Jamie."

"Gigi?"

"Yeah it's me."

"How long has it been?"

"A really long time." Gina said "I'm really sorry about everything I said to you that day.. I just- it build it inside me for a long time and I kind of lost control I guess?"

"Ok.. so why are you calling?"

"I'm pregnant Jamie."

"Wait really? Who's the dad?"

Gina sighed "EJ. we got married six years ago? I sent you an invite, you never showed up.."

"You're one to talk, it took you forever to even reach out to me. "

" But Jamie you never show up, you never did and you never do…"

"Mabye if you had reached out sooner.."

"Are you seriously blaming me right now?!" Gina yelled

"Look I don't know, ok? This has always been a mess between us."

"Who's fault is that?" Gina asked "you know for the first three years of my life I never even knew I had a brother? You were never here. Do you even want a relationship with me?" Gina whispered "Jamie?"

Gina looked at her phone the screen was black. "He hung up"

A few weeks later..

EJ and Gina were standing outside walking up to EJ's childhood home. "Ready for this?"

"Seeing my dad who's never been proud of me and who never actually said he loves me once in my entire life? What could go wrong? I'm just gonna put on a fake ass smile and hope for the best."

Ther door opened EJ and Gina stepped inside "Hi dad" EJ said awkwardly "EJ it's good to see you." they awkwardly hugged. "You remember Gina right?'

"Hi" Gina waved "hi" Cash said EJ and Gina sat down on the couch, Cash sat down in a easy chair across from them. "It's good to see you son, it's been a long time."

Gina could tell EJ really wanted to snap at his dad for that, but he closed his eyes took a breath and smiled. "Yeah it has."

"What have you been doing?"

"I'm a director and a cameraman."

"As a hobby?"

EJ gritted his teeth "it's my job dad."

"Hes really good at it too." Gina added "i'm actually directing a new musical The Devil Wears Parda" EJ added

"Elton John is writing the music for the show" Gina said

"It's been amazing getting to work with a master like him hes really cool." EJ said "honsetly making something out of nothing is probably the most exciting part"

Gina smiled she loved how passionate he was about his work.

"I still don't understand why you couldn't have gotten a real job, you could have been a highly paid cooparte lawyer like I am, really contributed to the world instead of wasting your time, directing silly little musicals.

That's the problem with theater kids they go into it thinking the'll all be in the spotlight one day and you were actually sutpid enough to listen. I think it was your teachers fault putting those ideas in your head."

"Don't talk about Miss Jenn that way." EJ whispered

"Is this why you came over? So you could tell me what you were doing?" Cash asked

"I just wanted to give you an update on my life dad, I thought you would care. But no that's not why. Gina's pregnant."

Gina took off her sweatshirt to reveal her swollen belly.

"Are you going to get a new job?" Cash asked "why would I get a new job?" EJ asked knowing full well where this was going.

"To make more money."

"I make pretty good money dad." EJ sighed "will you ever be proud of me? How hard would that be to say dad? Or I love you. You've never said that to me my whole life. How hard is that? I did so much to make you proud I tried to be the perfect son. I tried SO hard."

Cash looked at him but didn't say anything. "Hey babe, my back is killing me.. Could we go home?" EJ looked at her gratefully, that was there signal they had come up with if things ever got too tense, like now.

"Yeah.' EJ helped Gina up, taking one last look at his dad. "Have a nice life dad"

The second they got home EJ broke down in tears. Gina didn't say anything she just held him in her arms. "I hate him" EJ whispered "we've had really bad luck in the family department huh?"

"Yeah.." Gina sighed "sometimes the best family is the family you choose."

Gina looked at EJ "the good thing is you and me.. we get to make our own family." Gina took his hand and placed it on her belly. "That was then, this is now. Ok?"

"Ok."

"You know what would make us both feel better?" Gina said "setting up the nursery."

EJ smiled "ok let's do it."

Thety had painted it a few weeks earlier so it was a nice light yellow color. It was the room right next to their bedroom. EJ and Gina were moving a bookcase into the corner of the room. "Do you think it's going to be a boy or a girl?" Gina asked

"Girl." EJ said matter of factly Gina rolled her eyes and smiled "Eej, you can't say your hoping for a girl, I would be just fine wirth a boy."

"So would I! I'm just saying I think it's a girl."

"You have no evidence to back that up." Gina giggled

They moved the bookcase into the corner. "Wow that wiped me out." Gina said, she was sweating "why don't you sit down and put the books in the bookcase?" EJ said "relax a little bit."

Gina smiled "you got it boss."

Soon the EJ moved the rest of the furniture in the room, Gina put the clothes in the dresser and stuffed animals by the bookcase. "So I think we're done.' EJ smiled "almost" Gina went out and came back a second later with the little blanket she knitted and put it in the bassniet. "Now it's perfect."

EJ put an arm around her, Gina leaned into him and let out a contented sigh. "Thank you." EJ said "I feel a lot better now."

"So do I."
