Two weeks had passed Gina was finally healed enough to move around a little thank goodness. "How do you feel with your mom gone?"
"Kind of sad, But I feel like the air is easter to breath when she's gone sometimes..that sound bad dosen't it?"
EJ looked at her "no. I get it."
"I love my mom but-
"Sometimes she says the wrong thing?' EJ asked "exactly." Gina said "she is the best though. Sometimes…"
Gina trailed off and looked at the newborn sleeping peacefully in her arms. "One things for sure she's never meeting Jamie. I don't want her involved in my family's brand of crazy."
"I totally agree." EJ said "not just about your family but my dad."
Gina looked at him and smiled "our chosen family is pretty great."
EJ smiled "there the best. Babe you know what I just realized?"
"What?"
"We have a family now."
Gina kissed him on the cheek and smiled "we have a family."
"We've had all this help for the last two weeks now it's going to just be the two of us." EJ pointed out
"The three of us" Gina added
It was midnight and Skylar would not stop screaming. Gina was holding her to her chest and pacing with her around the nursery. "Shh. it's ok baby."
"Do you want me to take her?" EJ asked Gina shook her head "no, i've got it. You've been up with her the last two hours."
Suddenly there was silence. "Finally she stopped crying." Gina looked down. Skylar had thrown up all over her shirt, a second later she was crying again. EJ carefully took Skylar in his arms and sat down with her in the rocking chair. "I'm gonna go change." Gina went to go change and EJ turned his attention to the crying infant in his arms. "Hey kiddo it's ok, Daddy's got you." EJ had remembered that Ashlyn had told him that sometimes babies like it when you sing to them. It couldn't hurt to try EJ thought to himself. He already knew the perfect song. EJ started to sing softy "Isn't she lovely?

EJ had no idea that Gina was listening in the doorway that whole time. Skylar stopped crying and was asleep in EJ's arms. EJ smiled "that's my girl" he looked up and saw his wife. "Hey is that my camera?" he smiled
"It's my camera now" Gina teased "did you film that whole thing?"
"Yeah it was really sweet."
EJ smiled and then looked at Gina's face. "Baby, are you crying?"
"No" she was crying. EJ carefully got up and put Skylar in the bassinet then put an arm around his wife. "What's wrong G?"
"Nothing." Gina smiled though her tears "you're just a really good dad." EJ smiled and kissed her on the forehead. The couple looked at their daughter sleeping peacefully. "This seems like a really good dream, you know? Like If I go to sleep it will all disappear." Gina said
"Well first off is we won't be getting much sleep." EJ said Gina laughed. "The best part is it's not a dream." EJ said taking her hand "I never thought I could be this happy."
Gina squeezed his hand."neither did I."
A few days later..
"She's been crying since 6:00 pm." EJ said holding her in his arms. "What time is it now?"
Gina looked at her phone and sighed "10:00 pm."
"We've tried everything we can think of." EJ sighed "I don't know why she's still so fussy."
"Keys." Gina said
"What?"
"Car keys, where are they?"
"On the hook near the door.. Why? You want to go on a drive now?'
Gina shrugged "hey nothing else is working."
EJ nodded " I'll get her car seat."
Soon they were in the car Gina was sitting in the back with Skylar who was still crying her eyes out. "Where do you want to go?" EJ asked
"Around the block."
They drove in silence for a while well, except for Skylar's crying. EJ rubbed his eyes, he was exhausted.
"Shh it's ok Skylar." Gina soothed, the baby kept crying. It took about an hour but Skylar for some reason stopped crying.
The couple sighed in relief. "She probably exhausted herself from all the crying." EJ said
"We have to come up with a better system for this." Gina said "we can't just put her in the car evertime she won't stop crying."
"We can't?"
"Eej, you can barely keep you eyes open."
EJ sighed "you're right. Honestly? I don't care how many all nighters we have to have i'm just happy we're parents."
Gina smiled "me too."
"You know, she might have colic." EJ said
"What is that?"
"I was reading about it earlier today, it's basically just uncontrollable crying for no reason it happens with babies sometimes."
Gina sighed 'well this is gonna be fun…"
EJ laughed sofly "it's all part of being a parent babe."
"Yeah you're right. Whatever happens we can handle it." EJ caught Gina's eyes in the rearview mirror
"What?'
"Do you know how much I love you?"
Gina smiled, they told each other i love you all the time but it still made her heart melt every single time she heard it.
"You've told me a hundred times."
"And?' EJ smiled
"I love you too"
