Smoke And Mirrors
Chapter 26
Well, funny you're the broken one
But I'm the only one who needed saving
'Cause when you never see the light
It's hard to know which one of us is caving.
Nathan pulled into the parking lot of their home. The couple shared a ride to get to and from therapy every time.
But this drive home was unlike the others.
This was bad Nathan knew that. But Haley should know him better then that by now. He let go of his bachelor days years ago.
"Why is it so easy for you to believe blog posts and strangers online before you're husband.?" Nathan questioned.
Haley's eyes went wide. As she ran her hands through her now shorter blond/brown hair.
"In what world is any of this easy for me.?"
"You said things would be different. You had changed."
"I let you back into my heart and our bed. Then i wake up one day and this woman is talking about the night she spent with my husband!"
"I don't follow you on you're away games. I don't know what you do. Who you speak too. But i do know. It's me at home working as a teacher. Taking care of our kids."
"So maybe the stable family life isn't what you imagined."
"Maybe you're bored. Restless. Aching for something or someone new."
"Renee has lived a life i can only dream of. You have that with you're basketball. The travel. The admiration from fans."
"Nobody is moving out. We're staying in the same house and you find somewhere to sleep." Haley explained.
"You gave up you're singing career."
"I didn't make you do that. If you don't want to be a teacher then quit."
"Life is about choice and consequences Haley." Nathan replied.
"I did that for you and us. Because you were too insecure to see me living my dream. So i put my wants and needs aside." Haley said.
"You settled for you're career as a teacher. That's on you." Nathan said.
"You know all about settling. You settled for me didn't you.?" Haley asked.
When Nathan didn't respond she got her answer and left the car.
