Smoke And Mirrors
Chapter 28
Authors note : Thank you my readers. Stay tuned.
Tell me that it's not my fault
Tell me that I'm all you want
Even when I break your heart.
Why'd I have to break what I love so much?
It's on your face, don't walk away.
Weeks Later
"If either of us wanted out of this marriage. That would of happened a long time ago."
"Clearly we choose each other. If i wasn't in love with her i wouldn't be here. Going through this therapy when she has been freezing me out. Months now. We just hide it well." Nathan explained.
"What are you're feelings on the current situation Haley.? This woman and what she is saying to the world.?" The therapist asked.
"I think basketball has been apart of Nathan's identity for a long time. And without that he would be lost."
"Women like Renee are expected. That doesn't mean i have to like it and accept it. I'm deciding too believe my husband."
"If he says nothing happened then nothing did."
"If that's the case why the seperation at all.?" The therapist questioned.
Haley sighed deeply. Instead of looking to the therapist.
She looked up at Nathan.
"I thought i made peace with leaving the tour and giving up music."
"I figured it wasn't worth the stress and turmoil it caused when i came back."
"But i'm realizing. I would of never asked you to give up basketball and if you did because of me.I wouldn't of let that happen."
"I'm planning to quit my job as a teacher. And take Chris up on his offer to go on tour."
"I haven't told the kids yet. But i will. This isn't about us. It's about me." Haley announced.
"You have my full support." Nathan replied.
Later on that day
"You're not getting control over what we watch. If you don't get in here now.!" Haley exclaimed. From the kitchen.
"Who have you been texting off and on for days. I see and hear everything." Nadia asked.
"You're like a ninja you just sneak into spaces and have really good hearing. If basketball or music doesn't work out. You should consider being a spy."
"I'm supposed to be refilling the snacks and drinks."
"Austin probably has a handful of documentaries for us to watch."
"We should get back in there." Dawn replied. Wanting to change the subject.
"Did you forget we share a room.? There is no such thing as privacy." Nadia replied.
"Nice necklace. Iris has one just like it." Dawn said.
Iris Bevin Taylor was Nadia's best friend.
"So we're best friends." Nadia replied.
"Is that all the two of you are.?" Dawn asked.
As she turned from Nadia and started refilling the snacks and drinks.
...
"Hi honey. It's momma. I know it's been a long time."
"I had to do some digging and was able to find you're cell number."
"I have alot to say. To make up for. If you give me the chance." Rachel said. Ending the voicemail for Dawn.
...
Haley couldn't believe this was actually happening.
She had just started the packing process.
She planned to tell their kids before anything was figured out with the tour.
...
Haley paused once she saw a box with her name on it.
She knew it was Nathan's handwritting. It was awaiting her on the bed.
Haley stopped packing and grabbed the box.
She opened it and looked through it slowly.
...
Nathan paced on his front porch. He knew had to tell Haley at some point and he would once she got back from the tour and their relationship was back on the rock solid foundation it once was years ago.
