"She hasn't returned," Kamui observed, turning his attention from his job to the stadium's teleprompter.
The last match just ended and the next one was soon to begin. You hadn't returned yet to proceed to your next opponent. This would the second match you missed and skip. After what happened and the scene as well quirk your displayed, it made sense. You passed out and had to be carried away to Recovery Girl, leaving behind a partially damaged arena(that had to be molded) and amazed attendees who roared with excitement.
There was no doubt in Kamui's mind your display captured some heroes' attention and interest, you'll definitely land a good internship. Even if you weren't possibly returning for your next match.
"Guess she couldn't handle the last one. That's not a good sign." Death Arms said disappointed, coming and standing by Kamui's side with Mt. Lady on his other.
Both heroes look up at the screen.
"Yeah. That's not a good sign. Her chances of earning a good internship might've dropped." Mt. Lady added, "I wouldn't like someone that. In the line of hero work, you can't fault that easily."
Death Arms nodded, agreeing. "Yeah. If she were with me, I'd make sure of it. But I have eyes set on others. Plus, she's not to my taste. She seems way unfocused. Bubbliness, no thank you."
"I think it's cute."Mt. Lady disagreed, "A personality like that would really help with the public. That's important too. Kamui, you?"
Both heroes turn to their partner. He said nothing and remained focused on the screen until it transitioned to a commercial break.
"She has potential." He affirmed. "Unfocused. Yes. But potential nevertheless. A Hamato trained her. Anyone who can endure that is a hero in the making."
Mt. Lady gave a shrug, "I suppose. Her older sister though, she's pretty good."
"Strong and disciplined, too." Death Arms added as the next match was announced, "ready for break?"
The crowd roared with cheering applauses as the next match began. Jun didn't care and desperately wanted to walk out but he reminded seated in the spot next to Shinso listening to his tunes with one earphone while Shinso had the other.
"Who do thinks gonna win?" Shinso asked, nudging Jun out of his thoughts.
Jun hesitated before answering, giving his classmate a weary expression.
"You're good. No quirk." Shinso assured. "Promise."
Jun scuffed, keeping his eyes closed. "Promises are cheap. Also, I don't care. These other matches are pointless and a waste of my time and breath. All of this honesty."
"Aren't we high and mighty. Might do you some good to pat attention considering your last match."
"Psst. Please it was a flux. My quirk is the strongest here and nothing else."
"And yet…" Shinso stopped from the sharp look Jun shot his way. "Fine never mind."
They resumed their silent company until Shinso spoke.
"That girl isn't back yet. Wonder how long she'll be this time."
Jun shifted in his seat a little. "Who knows? Who cares. She's weak and therefore a disgrace."
"Okay, that sounded personal. During the chivalry battle, you seemed chummy with her. Even ignored me." Shinso smirked, spreading it out to a grin noticing the rising red on Jim's cheeks. He leans closer to him. "Oh, I see."
"That's not it all!" Jun snapped red as a tomato.
Shinso chuckled and some of their classmates looked their way confused and shocked.
Shinso laughed for a few more seconds and held up a hand, "Alright. Alright. Calm down. It was a joke."
"I knew that," Jun huffed, crossing his arms and comparing himself. "it wasn't funny." He muttered.
Shinso shrugged, "Can't blame me. You're not giving me a reason. Besides, she seems attached to the guy I fought from her class. Midoriya. She's easily excited by him."
Jun frown deepened, "It's a joke." He grumbled, being careful not to hinge on any rising emotion. "And ridiculous too. Completely unprofessional and degrading, if you ask me."
"Whatever you say, but when you attacked him, she was a whole different person and quite frankly destroyed the arena and could have done so with you. Didn't you see her punch? The aftermath?"
A chill ran down Jin's spine, and a subtle piece of fear filled his eyes. He remembered the way you charged at him without hesitation…eyes blank, locked, and deadly. Just as they had been before and his little legs crumpled under him as they almost did against you, again. Back then you were everything….that was groomed into you, and you still had it…even if it was restrained. Hopeful his mother got what she needed for her deal to go through.
Adjusting himself where he sat, Jun surfed his eyes across the people till he found his mother. Dressed ever polished in her white suit and well-manicured nails. He spotted her with the Flame Hero who finished signing her tablet. It went through, Jun thought, finally.
Closing his eyes again Jun canceled out the roaring and next match. Allowing silence to take over and be his company. There he found…that little boy crying alone. Beaten up and bruised, he stood back with a sucking look cast on the child. It changed when…she approached with a few scratches on her face. She kneeled down next to the boy and-
"Perfect!" Mary smiled victoriously and kept her composure. Her eyes satisfyingly looked at Endeavor's e-signature.
It was done. Finally. A suitable transaction. Everything was shifting correctly. Jun did decent for once and now-
"When will you have her?" Endeavor asked, imposingly disrupting her thoughts.
Mary took a moment to think. She nearly forgot, "Soon."
The hero rose a brow, "Soon? How soon?"
"Soon. Regardless of the litigations and minor obstacles. She'll be returned to me soon. I have someone working on that." She flashes an assuring smile, quietly muttering to herself, breaking her attention from the hero, "I've got her here this far already."
"What did you say?" Endeavor asked.
"Nothing. Nothing." Mary waves away and cast her eyes across the area and present fight to where class 1-A sat, and locked on one particular two-toned hair color student. "It is a good fit."
Endeavor grunted, "Of course. I don't waste my time on mediocrity."
"Neither do I. Neither do I."
