Ayaka wanders her way toward the bleak-looking apartment that the Midoriya family calls home. It was among the many other bland and similar-looking constructs scattered throughout the neighborhood. Ayaka paid attention to where Midoriya's address would be as she stops right on the building marked with a giant 2 on its side.
"Psst..."
A small whisper made her turn in the direction of foliage nearby. It was hard to notice because of Izuku's green hair but Ayaka could notice him suspiciously crouching beneath the bushes.
"Midoriya, is that you? Why are you in the bushes?" she asked while approaching the bushes.
The green bean in question pops his head out and starts to grab Ayaka by the wrist. "Let's go, Mom is going to stop watching the T.V. in exactly 2 minutes and 10 seconds."
'What an unusual specificity...'
Ayaka and Izuku arrive at the door that opens to the Midoriya apartment. Izuku nods to himself after checking the time as he suddenly stares at Ayaka with a determined look.
"Kamisato, do you trust me?"
Ayaka was starting to get concerned at her companion being so elaborate on a simple visit. "Yes, I'm your friend Midoriya. A good friend at that."
He starts to close in toward the door. "Okay, so I need you to enter when I dial you. My Mom's inside and watching the T.V., I need to distract her with something after she stops."
"Distract? Your Mom? May I ask why go through this much trouble?" she asks.
He looks at the sun going down to the horizon like he was going to say something inspirational. "I will avoid eternal teasing and monumental embarrassment for my entire life."
Ayaka quirks an eyebrow. "Surely it won't be that bad. I'd love to meet your mother formally. I didn't bring anything as a greeting for her, it was impulsive of me to come here on such short notice."
His stiffened face loosens into an awkward smile. "Oh, you don't have to be sorry about it Kamisato, I'm happy to help a friend out. Anyways, wait for me dialing okay?"
Ayaka nods but before Izuku entered his home he turns Ayaka with a weird robotic movement like he knew that what he was asking was not something you'd ask a female friend of yours to do. "Also, please wear this blindfold before you enter my room."
Ayaka slowly blinked as if asking non-verbally what that meant. She gets handed over a cloth made of pure black, how Izuku had managed to find one, she wasn't sure. Izuku decided to leave Ayaka still dumbfounded at the request as he entered his home.
Izuku walks inside with stiffness in his joints and a rigid look, not something you'd want to try and convince people with. Despite that, he trudges on while Ayaka looked at her phone with keen interest.
A few minutes later, the sound of chattering inside made her listen closely as a small conversation came from inside the room. Her phone vibrates from a call being received which signaled to her the moment she would enter.
She opens the door with a peek and sees Izuku frantically keeping his mother's attention by talking about the weather while asking about the intricacies of cooking fish in a microwave. It somehow worked, his mother paid full attention to the absurd idea Izuku just told her.
'I guess this is where I go from now.' Ayaka creaks open the door and gently closes it while walking toward Izuku's room while making sure to hasten her steps without attracting too much attention.
She sees the door with Izuku's name on it. 'Is that an All Might-themed door sign? Such dedication.' Ayaka stares at the blindfold before taking it to her head and wrapping it around her eyes, blinding her of sight as she navigates the door handle while carefully going inside.
'Would there be a cause that Midoriya would make me blindfold myself?'
It was very odd, from Izuku trying to distract his mother from noticing Ayaka, to making sure she was blindfolded. Though, she trusted Izuku, chalking it up to his usual antics when being awkward.
A chuckle escapes from her lip when she sat down on the floor. Remembering the times Izuku couldn't speak a word when she learned to use a phone, she called him only to hear squeals from the other end, like a mouse getting scared by a predator.
It was awkward the few months Izuku had to constantly meet with a girl daily for their training. Though, Ayaka learned to deal with it since it was understandable.
Izuku soon entered the room with a big sigh of relief. He slumps to the ground while panting hard enough for Ayaka to tell where he was.
"Are you okay? Is it that much of a problem for me to be in here?"
Izuku slowly got up and retrieved the archives of his hero notes. "It's just I don't really want people to see my room... It's way too embarrassing. Even my mom would tease me if she knew I had anyone come over. The last time I invited someone over was when Kacchan and I wanted to unbox a new-age edition All Might figurine, it was before he even got his quirk."
Izuku shook his head at the memory. "Alright, Kamisato. I compiled every person of interest in Yokohama. Based on our short conversation I managed to find 3 emitter types that primarily use elements as you said. Though, If you have a sketch I can base off maybe I could use it to scour through the internet."
Ayaka nods. "I didn't think you'd get so much done in a short while before I even arrived. You're great when dealing with quirks, Midoriya."
"Oh uh... Thanks. There are these three right here. The first one is the Pro Hero Salione, he uses electricity by using salt in his body to discharge a large number of shocks. He was injured while in the line of duty fighting a Villain. Here take a look."
"Ummm, I can't look, Midoriya." Ayaka points to her blindfold.
"Uhhhh-" Izuku starts to look around the picture. "He has a square jaw and an arching nose. He has a pencil mustache and uses a yellow and black spandex suit with a big S on it."
Ayaka, despite being blindfolded could vaguely imagine Izuku's description. 'That's way too little to go off of but it's easy to fake not being able to use a Delusion with a salt requirement.'
"Who's next?" she asks.
"There is a Vigilante named Ember that was arrested a few years back but got released in January last year. His Quirk is Combust, he can breathe out propane if he wants to. He carries around a lighter and his body adapted to his own fire."
'So it could also be him, I had my own high cold resistance when I use ice. Perhaps Ember could also use a Delusion, maybe I could get a better idea if I take a look at their costumes.' Ayaka thought.
She slowly lifted up the blindfold since she needed a better image of the people in question. Izuku sees this and he finally enters panic mode as soon as Ayaka started to lift up her blindfold.
"Aahhhhhh! Don't look yet!" he desperately screams out.
Ayaka finally sees what Izuku was trying to hide. 'Such... Dedication...' it was more a museum than an actual room. Collectibles, comics, posters, and more, Ayaka could see everything under the sun as long as it involved All Might.
Izuku covered his eyes in shame after Ayaka got to see his otaku den. "Please stop looking, It's so embarrassing!"
Ayaka was curious, maybe worried too. 'I never knew All Might had his own themed sheets of paper, staplers, and pencils. It is a whole catalog of goods.' she spots something hiding away under the bed.
"Midoriya is that a body-sized pillow of All Might?" she points out.
Izuku peeks out from in between his fingers and right below his bed was the All Might-themed pillow. "Gah! I-I-It is! You're not supposed to see that!" he tries to push it deeper under his bed.
Suddenly but predictably Inko Midoriya, Izuku's mother, heard the high-pitched and panicked screams of shame Izuku was creating inside his room. "Izuku?! Are you alright? I heard you scream! Is everything fine? Do I need to play that video again for you?!"
She opens the door and sees the scene.
Izuku with his head under the bed trying to hide away his All Might-themed pillow, Ayaka staring at her with her blindfold still halfway up, and tons of notebooks on the floor.
"Izuku? We need to talk later." Inko said in a monotone voice.
She shuts the door with an audible thud as Izuku stares in shock, his jaw now hanging open. As Ayaka removed the blindfold oblivious as to what the situation looked like from Inko's perspective.
"Should I leave? Your mother left as soon as she saw me." Ayaka asks.
"No... It's something else entirely." Izuku falls flat on his bed while screaming his lungs out in a muffled voice.
After a few seconds of screaming, he got up from himself with tired eyes as he flipped through the notebooks he has on hand. "Here, this is Salione and Ember's notes."
Ayaka, still disturbed by what happened, cautiously took the notebook off Izuku's trembling hands. She sees the costumes the people wore and a frown forms on her face.
'None of these have visible Delusions. It's a requirement that I investigate for myself next weekend. Then after that, I have 6 days of weekends left to pursue this lead.'
"Mirdoriya, who's the last one?"
"Huh? Yeah... the last one is also a Vigilante but he stopped being active 10 months ago. He has a Quirk that can manipulate the trajectory of wind, not create one but only manipulate existing winds in a radius around him. There's not much on him since it's all based on eyewitness theories online."
Ayaka perks up after the revelation. 'Stopped being active 10 months ago? Wind? That's almost a perfect match for who owned this Anemo Delusion.'
"Does he have a name?"
Izuku opens his phone before scrolling until he swayed his head. "None, there are ones named by the police but not a name he personally coined. Not that it would be easy for him apparently."
"Why?" Ayaka asks.
"I guess because people that he saved or put in prison remember him speaking a foreign language. Vaguely Russian it says right here." Izuku opens up an old archive of Vigilante listings from a fansite.
'Wait, Russian? Isn't that...' Ayaka pulls open her own phone and opens up a translation site before narrowing her eyes at what resulted. 'So it's the same... I knew I recognized it, I've got to find out what happened to this Fatui member.'
"Thanks, Midoriya. You really helped me today. I'm full of gratitude." she bows as she starts to stand up and walk to the door. The slight change in her demeanor made Izuku worry.
"Kamisato? Is something wrong? Why did you need this information?"
Ayaka freezes in place as she touched the door handle. 'Do I tell him? Maybe...' she contemplates. 'No, it's my own problem. I don't need to risk Midoriya or anyone I know being involved in the problems I myself have to fix.'
"It's nothing to concern yourself with, just… curious is all. Don't forget tomorrow alright?"
As she opens the door, Inko was there nearby listening in closely by cupping her hands over the door. Ayaka opened it and stared at Inko's behavior. "Miss Midoriya? Am I… troubling you?"
Inko stood up, eyes wide open as she feverously bowed before Kamisato. "Thank you, for everything." She says.
"Me? I haven't done anything to deserve thanks, Miss Midoriya. I apologize for interrupting your night so far."
She lets out a single tear, wiping it away as she looks at Ayaka with a smile. "Don't be! Thank you, really. For taking care of my boy, he's all grown up trying to sneak in a-"
The door suddenly bursts open as a panicked and red-faced Izuku placed himself in between Ayaka and Inko while urging Ayaka to leave the house. "Mom, no!" He starts to lightly nudge Ayaka toward the exit. "We'll talk about this later… please. Kamisato, I'll see you tomorrow."
She gets lightly shoved away to the outside as an almost sassy voice which Ayaka assumed was Izuku's mother resounded from inside.
"What an energetic mother. I should visit again in the future."
