NOTE: I have a dilemma. When I first started this, I had such a passion and fervor, stories were literally coming out of my ears. Sure, I would have moments where I was stuck, unsure how to continue, and days, weeks and even a month or two where I wasn't in the mood to write, but the passion would always to come back. Honestly, I think most of it was fueled by the extremely distant possibility that Sue would come back due to this, or other circumstances. Well, today, this 20th anniversary of our most favorite show in the world, I am seriously considering ending our "show". A part of me doesn't want to, but a part of me does. I've been living in this fantasy for nearly 4 years. I need to face the grim reality that the show's not coming back, and I need to move on. In fact, I think I have. Summer is always the most inspirational and easiest time for me to write. I don't know about you, but nature always inspires me. Last year, I wrote a story a week easily. This summer, I have not been inspired, not a single day. Sure, I can write just fine, and sometimes I do have a good moment or two, but it doesn't have the same magic other stories had. It feels like I have to work at it, something I never used to dread. And I haven't written a single story in under a month. I only wrote like 3 stories from May to September, and before that, even less. It's sad, but I think I'm telling myself it's over. I literally am about to cry as I am writing this, but I just wanted to say I think I am finishing the stories I have written, and that is that. Unless I get a huge inspiration (this has happened once before, but I was inspired long before now), this will be the end. I know I left it with a few cliffhangers, but I really don't see the purpose of me forcing myself to do something that once came so easily. I don't want to waste my time and energy writing uninspired stories, nor do I want to waste your time reading them. I am so sorry, and I had every intention to complete the entire 7 year plan (and I still have ideas for many of the episodes, but none of them are burning like some of them used to), but it's just not working. Actually, after writing this, admittedly I feel like a huge load has been lifted off my shoulders. If I feel like that, then something's wrong, and this decision is the right one, unfortunately. I never used to feel like that, not in the least! I just feel like a lot of things in my life have to end before I can move forward. I have to let go. So I'm letting go. If I ever get inspired again, I will be sure to continue writing, and let you know when I do! Maybe this will happen if they announce the reboot officially :) Until then, enjoy the last story, which starts on Sunday, and hopefully, I will write again soon! Now, let's go watch some Sue episodes and cry all day long today! Happy Sue anniversary!
?-?
"Got it!" Dustin happily yelled. It was just passed 1AM and after much work, they got their warrant to enter Morgan Hester's recently deceased mom's house. "Gosh, I hope he's in there." Jack replied, looking from the agent to the dark house.
"He will be." Mya assuredly replied. "His mom's death was his tipping point. He'll be in the place he felt the closest to her, right?"
"I'll take your word for it." He replied, watching everyone gear up and get ready. "I'll just feel better when this is all over and he's arrested."
"Everyone will." She replied. "Now, let's go do that!"
Once everyone was ready, everyone participating in the raid stealthily ran down the street to the house, running up the driveway, but pausing when they got to the porch. "Bobby, Dustin, you guys watch the back door. Everyone else, we'll clear the house." Jack directed quietly. Once he heard that the two agents were stationed and ready at the back door, he banged the front door down, and everyone started yelling 'clear' as they checked each and every room.
"I give up. He's not here." Jack announced about 10 minutes later after the attic and basement were checked.
Sue, who was sitting in one of the cars with Sarah and watching the footage from the body cams, grabbed a spare mic off of the front seat when Sarah interpreted what her husband said. "There's a pretty large detached garage in the back. What if he's in there?" She suggested into the mic.
"Perfect idea!" He said, then shipped the team to go out the back door and cover the exits as Bobby and Dustin opened the garage door. As soon as they did, they found Morgan, asleep on a cot next to his car. At least that is what he was doing before he was startled awake.
Sue widely smiled in the car as she watched her husband and Mya arrest the perp. "Case closed!" She happily exclaimed, smiling at her friend.
?-?
Jack, Bobby, Mya, Tara, Sue and Sarah walked into their home bullpen later that afternoon to an applauding audience. Embarrassed, everyone tried to wave the attention away.
"Congratulations." Myles said, extending his hand to shake Jack's. "You guys caught what probably was the most notorious bank robber on the east coast."
"He definitely was the most meticulous!" Mya piped in.
"Did you find out why he was robbing those banks?" Josh asked his wife.
"Well, we wanted to come home, so the local FBI is doing the actual interrogating, but me, Tara and Sarah figured out enough to get an idea."
"Which is?" he asked, egging them on.
"It seems like his mom's recent death caused something inside him to snap. He most likely wanted others to feel his pain as well, and with each day, he wanted more and more people to feel his pain, hence adding a bank to every day." Tara surmised. Even if he ended up hitting every single state and 50 banks, I honestly don't think that would stop him. He would have kept going."
"Well, it's a good thing you caught him when you did." He replied, nodding.
Mya nodded. "I don't think I would have lasted one more night away!"
Josh chuckled. "Nice to know I'm missed that much."
"Actually, I was talking about missing my fish."
"That little scrawny thing you brought home last week?" He scoffed.
"What? He's cute!" She complained.
"Our definition of 'cute' must be drastically different."
"I hope you've been feeding him! I don't want to come home to find him starved to death!"
"He's fed, don't worry." Josh assured.
"Good." She satisfactorily said, leaning on his shoulder.
"So," Jack started, walking over to Myles. How was holding down the fort? Anything new?"
"Actually, yes." He replied, smiling.
"Oh?" He asked, waiting for him to continue. "What?" He finally asked.
Myles shook his head. "I'll be making the announcement tonight at dinner. Everyone's invited."
He smiled. "You can count on Sue and myself. We'll be there once we check on the kids. And maybe getting a little shut-eye. We're exhausted."
"Of course." He replied, then looked around the room at all the excitement going on. He was going to miss this when they forced him to leave it all behind.
?-?
"Everyone? Everyone!" Myles announced, standing up and clinking his glass to get everyone's attention in the busy restaurant, although clinking didn't help his Deaf guests much. Once everyone settled and was looking at him, he smiled, then started his speech. "I, we," he starting, lovingly looking at Cathi. "Invited you to this dinner to announce something."
"Just say it already!" Bobby yelled.
Taking a deep breath, he nodded. "Alright. Cathi and I are getting married."
All of a sudden, all of his guests whooped and happily shouted their congratulations. Nervously, Cathi also stood up and nodded her thanks to her friends. She then turned to her fiancé.
"You ready for this?" He asked as quiet as he could in spite of the noise.
She smiled and nodded. "I think so."
"Good." Myles replied. "Because this is going to be a long and tumultuous ride."
"With you, I think I can handle anything." She replied, smiling widely.
With that, they held hands, then sat back down, watching their friends chatter away about what life would be like in the Leland home, what their wedding would look like, and just general conversation. It was a good announcement after a hard case. Who knows what the future holds, but thankfully they had something to look forward to!
THE END
