Nigel found himself walking back to the conference dome, stepping onto the circle. As his surroundings disappeared, he saw that the button he pressed was still there, as well as the giant screen in front of him showing what remained of the Earth. Then he saw something strange appear to the right of it.. they were white boxes, showing his mom and dad. Several more 2-dimensional boxes appeared all around with the faces of all the people he had ever known, whether they were good or evil. The screens were all slightly grainy, and seemed to wave as if they were a VHS tape.. Nigel couldn't tell if he was hallucinating again, but it seemed so real..
"Nigel.." Tommy's voice began to softly speak. "even though by now you may as well have forgotten or just not care about any of us.. we just wanna say, thank you.. thank you for everything you did for us while you were still on Earth."
"While we are dead and our planet is destroyed, we'll all still be watching over you.. and we'll try to stay strong as we see you transform more and more into this new person," Mrs. Uno said, on the verge of crying. "This was your choice, son.. we thought you were better and smarter than this," Monty sadly said as he seemed to be comforting his sniveling wife. ".. well, we didn't exactly know about the Galactic KND's true intentions, either.."
"But if this is where you want to be, then we won't try to stop you anymore.." the voice of Hoagie said in a defeated tone. "But all we ask is that you don't fully forget us.." his voice started breaking. ".. we sure as hell won't forget you.." he then slowly waved, tears streaming down his cheeks. Nigel looked around, and little by little, everyone else starting doing the same thing. Sector V, Cree, Maurice, Carla, Chad, Rachel, Fannie, Tommy, his mom and dad, and all the villains he had fought over the years.. all forcing smiles as they waved goodbye to him, some of them barely fighting back tears. All the while Nigel was just.. looking on.
Flashbacks began playing in his mind of every interaction he had with each of them. Battles, truces, outings.. the majority may have been battles, but compared to the loneliness and guilt he had felt building inside of him, and the fact that they were all gone forever.. they were good times. Nigel was now struggling to hold in his sobs as he looked down, clutching the platform before him, tears dripping off his chin and nose. He then remembered something - the folded piece of paper he had put in the pouch of his hoodie before his first meeting. Taking it out and unfolding it, his heart sank even deeper. On the paper was a drawing of Sector V, standing beside each other and holding hands with red, blue, green and orange hearts and stars around them. Above the picture was writing that said - "Good luck, Nigel! We love you!" Nigel gritted his teeth as tears were now pouring down his face at a heavy rate, some dripping onto the paper. Flashbacks once again started to run in his mind of his days in Sector V, all five of them having the time of their lives.. he whimpered, then fell to his knees and bawled his eyes out.. he missed them all, and now he had just fucking killed them..
A sad Numbah 9L walked down the hall way and saw the sobbing 11-year-old. Feeling sympathy, she hovered over to him, lifting him onto her back and carrying him to his room. She felt the boy's salty tears stain her back, turning patches of her fur a dark indigo. 9L frowned and shook her head sadly, as if she had seen this situation in the past..
