Pre canon. 8x14, Harvey comes to his senses after seeing Donna with Thomas.

...

"As a thank you for helping me I'm gonna leave you with one last piece of advice" Her tone is playful but also truthful and Harvey stays quiet, letting her say whatever it is she wants to say. "She's not going to wait around for you to wake up forever Harvey, so if you feel about her the way I'm pretty sure you do, you should do something sooner rather than later"

He knows who she's referring to, he doesn't even have to ask. "It's not like that between us Scottie" He retorts in the same manner he does whenever someone brings up the way he feels about Donna.

"Only because you're still afraid… You won't ruin it, you're ready Harvey, all you have to do is take the leap" She insists because even if she knows it's not her business at all, she genuinely cares about him and she wants him to be happy. Scottie, like pretty much everyone else who knows them, sees that Donna is where Harvey's only chance at true happiness relays.

"Thanks Scottie" He says in a determined tone, one that tells her he's done talking about Donna with her.

"Goodbye Harvey"

"Bye" He hangs up, but keeps his phone in his hand, while Scottie's words inevitably run through his head.

It's not that he hasn't thought of it before, God knows he has, he sees Donna that way, and something has changed in the last few months, ever since he last had her in his arms, when they danced at Mike and Rachel's wedding.

They tease each other more openly, they have joked about strawberries and whipped cream, he pretty much confessed to her that it's her he thinks about whenever he needs to release some tension on his own. They got pretty cozy the night they went out to have drinks after Louis made Managing Partner. He was so amazed by her that day, by the way she made her move and pulled the whole thing off behind his and Robert's back and instead of getting mad at her, all he felt was pride and admiration for the most important woman in his life, because he knows that's the place Donna occupies in his heart, whether he's willing to admit it or not.

Scottie told him to go for it, that he's ready and he won't ruin it, but is he really willing to risk it at all? The thing is, Donna is the one person he can't ever bear losing, he's lost many people along the way, his dad, Scottie herself, Zoe, Jessica, Paula, Mike, Katie, many people came and left and he always knew he'd be okay, but Donna… She's a whole different story, he thought he was going to die when she left to work for Louis, he almost had a panic attack when she left her letter of resignation on his desk, and that was the only time he actually considered being able to let her go, until it became a reality and he realized that he never would be able to.

And now… What if he takes the leap? What if they try and it doesn't work? There's no coming back from it, if they try a relationship and he screws up like he always does, he could lose her forever and Donna is the one person he needs in his life, in any capacity he can have.

He sees her leaving her office across the hallway, saying something to her secretary, and she looks so beautiful, she's wearing a black dress, half her hair falling down her back, the other half draped to the side, falling down her front and he's mesmerized by her, she's so gorgeous.

Is he going to be a pussy for the rest of his life or is he finally going to do something about it and ask her out? He figures one date can't hurt their relationship, if it's too awkward and they realize they are better off as friends, one date is not something so hard to come back from. They came back from worse.

"Fuck it" He mutters as he stands from his seat and walks down the hallway, he speaks as she's about to call the elevator. "Hey"

She turns around and she seems somewhat shaken "Hey" She says back.

"I just wanted you to know-" He starts but she cuts him off.

"Scottie called to thank me, Harvey" She explains, always a step ahead of him, or almost always.

"That's funny, she just called me" He replies and tries to stay calm and collected, not to let her see how nervous he actually is, he tucks a hand inide his pant's pocket in an attempt to seem more relaxed.

"Well, I guess she's grateful to both of us" She replies with the ghost of a smile on her face.

"I guess so" He retorts and takes a second to gather his thoughts, this is it, it's now or never "Um… did she say something to you about…" He struggles to continue, and curses to himself for being such an idiot. He's Harvey Specter, if there's one thing he doesn't lack is confidence, if there's one thing he knows how to do is talk to a woman he's attracted to, he's never had any issues in that department before, and yet here he is, acting like a schoolboy about to ask his crush to prom. It's different with Donna, it always is, she's the only woman who can see right through him, the only woman that means everything to him, and the only one who can turn him into a nervous wreck.

"About what?" She interrupts his internal ramble.

He's about to reply 'about us' when the elevator door opens and Thomas Kessler steps out of it. Harvey reads the situation the second he brushes his hand on her arm. Scottie was right, Donna wasn't going to wait around forever for him to take his head out of his ass, and now he realizes his worst fear is materializing in front of him. He's too late, she's with someone, and he lost his opportunity.

'Only took you thirteen years asshole' a nagging voice in his head says.

They exchange pleasantries and Donna introduces Thomas to Harvey but they had already met, he's one of Louis's oldest clients after all.

They say goodnight and he watches how she gets inside the elevator, he looks at her until the doors close before him and sees how once again she leaves and it's not with him and he's left alone as the realization that he's lost her hits him harder than he thought it ever would.

He's stuck in that moment, cursing himself for being such a coward, for taking so long to do something about it. And what was he expecting? for her to wait around for him forever? She's the most amazing woman in the world, of course there's a whole line of men wanting to date her, and honestly it shouldn't surprise him that it's taken so long for one to catch her attention, but it still does, cause maybe a part of him thought that the way they've been interacting these past few months meant that there was still something there between them, that they were finally going somewhere after so many years of denial, he was obviously wrong.

Drinks with Samantha is not what he was planning for tonight, but he agrees anyway, she's fun to be around when she's not being combative, and he has fun, but if he has to be honest, he would have preferred to spend the evening having dinner with Donna in Del Posto, enjoying her company, laughing at all her jokes and maybe having the courage to kiss her at her doorstep after taking her home. But she's out with someone else, and it'll be someone else's lips she'll kiss at the end of the evening.

"What are you doing up so late grandpa?" Mike asks as soon as he takes Harvey's call.

"Not in the mood, Mike" Harvey says in a flat tone that lets Mike see this is serious.

"What happened?"

"I'm too late" He simply replies and Mike sighs, he doesn't need to ask, he already knows what or rather who this is about.

"Well, she wasn't going to wait forever Harvey, I heard he's a nice guy and she's happy" It should give him comfort, he wants her to be happy, always, but he wants her to be happy with him, and not with someone else, even if he knows Thomas is probably better for her than he'll ever be.

Thomas is not afraid to go after what he wants, he's not terrified of committing to her, he's open and he's there, willing and ready to be with her in any way she needs, he's everything Harvey knows he's not, but goddamn does he want to be all that and more.

"Are you seriously fangirling over him? I'm your best friend!" Harvey exclaims in an upset tone that makes Mike chuckle.

"I'm not, Rachel was earlier today, she said…" He trails off and stays silent.

"What Mike? I can take it"

"She said Donna sounded really happy, and that she couldn't be more thrilled for her after all the heartache she went through last year"

He's always liked Rachel, but right now, she's definitely not his favorite person. He understands she's only being protective of Donna, and he knows he really screwed up when he decided to sleep with his therapist and broke Donna's heart in the process when he almost forced her to leave the firm, but he chose her in the end, he always will.

"She's right, she deserves to be happy after everything I put her through" He admits.

"Harvey-"

"It's alright Mike, it's the truth" He interrupts.

"Okay, listen, I'm gonna just come out and say this because I'm pretty certain of it; she'll leave Kessler in a heartbeat if you tell her how you feel"

"I don't know Mike, I don't think it'd change a thing" Harvey says in a defeated tone.

"Then you know what Harvey? Just give up and let her go. I thought you called because you needed to talk to someone about how heartbroken you are over the thought of losing her for good, I thought you were finally ready, but if you're still so afraid to commit to her, then maybe you don't deserve her and you should let her be happy" Mike snaps in a tired tone, fed up with Harvey's attitude.

"I'm not afraid to commit to her!" Harvey exclaims angrily "That's the problem, I'm finally ready and she's in love with someone else"

He hears some whispers on the other end until Rachel's voice fills his ears "She's in love with you, you goddamn ashole, she's been in love with your blind ass for the last thirteen years, waiting for you to man up and do something about it, so fucking do something or leave her alone Harvey, because so help me god if you hurt her again, I will kill you"

He's frozen in his seat with his glass of scotch in his hand's grip. Rachel has never spoken to him like that, she's never been so bluntly honest before and he can blame her second trimester hormones for it but he knows it's not that. She, like everyone else, is tired of seeing them dance around their feelings and never doing anything about it.

"Thanks Rachel" He whispers and ends the call.

Now all he has to do is figure out how to fix this, and pray it's not too late to go after what he's always wanted.

He arrives at the firm at nine after meeting with Simon and promising he'll get him a deal with Kessler. He passes by Donna's office first but she's not there, so he talks to Alex about the deal before making his way into his own office and that's when he sees her standing there waiting for him.

"Donna" He calls and she turns around with a nervous smile on her face.

"Harvey… I wanna talk to you about last night" She says, straight to the point and he decides to make a joke about LeBron's game to lighten the situation and ease her and his nerves.

"You know what I mean" She says with a smile as he walks towards his desk and she does the same "I wanna talk to you about me seeing Thomas" She says next as she takes a seat in front of him "And the truth is I told Louis and I meant to tell you but-"

He interrupts her before she can continue to reassure her, because he never wants her to be uncomfortable when telling him something, even if it's about having a new man in her life "Donna, you don't have to tell me every time you start seeing a client"

"That's the thing, I don't just wanna tell you because he's a client. I wanted to tell you because even though it's really early on, I… I really like him" She confesses and he considers doing what he does best, deny his real feelings, telling her he's happy for her, that he will support her no matter what, but Rachel's words last night made him see that it's time to man up and do something about it if he doesn't want to lose her.

"And you want me to, what Donna? Say that I'm happy for you?, that I hope you two live happily ever after?" He says instead, and looks amused at the shock on her face at his words as she opens and closes her mouth a few times.

"Well, I… I guess… Yeah, Harvey, I guess I'd like you to be happy for me"

"Well, I'm not" He simply says with shrug "And I'm so tired of doing this every time one of us starts seeing someone"

"Harvey, what are you saying?" She asks apprehensively.

"What I'm saying is that what we do is not normal Donna. We're friends, right?" He asks and she nods.

"Of course" She says without hesitating.

"Well, friends are not bothered when other friends start seeing someone new, friends are not affected by that and they don't try to find a way to tell each other they're seeing someone without it being awkward" He explains as he looks intently into her eyes.

"Harvey, I-"

He interrupts before she can speak "You were hesitant to tell me about Stephen, cause you knew it'd upset me, it took me weeks to tell you about Paula, because I couldn't bring myself to, knowing it would bury any chance we had, and now you've been hesitant to tell me about Thomas for that same reason"

"Where are you going with this Harvey? Because right now, you're confusing the shit out of me" She retorts in a clear confused and upset tone.

"Do you really need me to be more clear Donna?" He asks and she nods.

"Yes, actually I do"

"Alright then, I'm in love with you" He finally lets the truth out and her face is priceless, he would laugh if the situation wasn't so serious.

"You're in love with me" She repeats his words carefully, as if making sure she heard him right.

"I am, and it bothers me that you're with Thomas, because I want it to be me, I want to be the one to take you home every night, and the one to take you out on dates. I want to wake up next to you every morning, and cook you breakfast and dinner. I want to go to the grocery store with you and put strawberries and whipped cream in our cart and see you blush when I do because you'll know what we'll do with them. I want a mundane and simple happy life with you Donna, and I'm so fucking tired of pretending I don't anymore. So I'm asking you for a chance to prove to you that I can be the man you deserve. I'm ready, I'm here if you'll have me, all you have to do is say yes" He finishes to an astonished Donna who looks about to combust.

"Do you have any idea of how long I have been wanting to hear words like that from you?" She asks with tears threatening to fall from her eyes "Do you have any idea of what it was like to see you go after Scottie, Zoe, Paula… Basically anyone but me all these years? How much it hurt every time I tried to make it work with someone else only to realize it never would because they weren't you? And when I finally find someone I really like, someone I can see myself being happy with, when I finally feel that I could move on from this this 'will we, won't we' thing we've had going on for the past thirteen years, you tell me you're in love with me and you want a life with me?" She almost chokes out the words as she tries very hard to keep her cool and not completely lose it, but he can see how upset she is.

Her reaction is not what he was expecting and he feels stupid for it. Was he really expecting her to, what? Walk over to him, confess her undying love for him and kiss him in the middle of his office?. He looks down and sighs, because yes, that was exactly what he was expecting, he's such a self absorbed asshole.

"I'm only trying to be open about my feelings here Donna, I figured it was time you knew the truth, and I couldn't keep it inside any longer" He says next, and she stands from her seat and glares at him.

"Well. guess what Harvey? the world doesn't revolve around you and I see what this is clearly. This is a knee-jerk reaction to me seeing Thomas, and the moment I break up with with him and you realize there's nothing standing between us, you'll freak out and step back just like you did when I flat out asked you for more and you ran to your therapist's bed" She almost yells the words at him and he flinches, that was a low blow, and he knows she's pretty much right, but it still hurts like hell.

"You know what Donna? I did, I ran to Paula the second you asked for more, because I was terrified you meant more with me and I was terrified of losing you again like I did the last time you had asked that from me, when you left me for Louis, but this isn't that. It's not a knee-jerk reaction"

He pauses and takes a deep breath before standing and walking a few steps closer to her but he stops when she takes a step back, a clear indication that she doesn't want him close right now.

"Donna, I love you" He confesses looking straight into her eyes so she knows he means it and time stands still for a moment, she doesn't say anything so he continues his love declaration "I'm in love with you, I've come to terms with the fact that loving you is a part of me. You onced asked me how I love you, well this is how, I love you with everything that I am and this time, when I'm finally ready to offer you forever, it's you who's backing down because you're afraid to risk anything"

She looks beyond shock, the words leave his mouth effortlessly, and she knows 'I love you' is not something he says lightly, which for some reason pisses her off even more. "Are you for real Harvey? After thirteen years of repressing your feelings, you finally wake up one day and decide you want more when I'm seeing someone and you not only expect me to leave him for you but you also accuse me of being afraid?!" They are both raising their voices and they consciously know this is neither the time nor the place to do this, but they can't seem to be able to stop now.

"Yes! That's exactly what I'm saying, I'm asking you to leave him, I'm asking you to choose me. Am I a selfish bastard?, yes. Do I feel bad about it? Hell no! You've put me first for years, well, I'm asking you to do that one last time Donna, and I swear to you I will make you the happiest woman on earth because no one will ever love you the way I do"

She shakes her head and closes her eyes before letting out a long breath.

"No" She says in a voice that's barely above a whisper and Harvey can swear he feels the way his heart is cut in two at her negative.

"What?" He whispers incredulously.

She looks up at him this time "I said no Harvey, I want to give my relationship with Thomas a real shot. I'm sorry, because I'm sure you believe you feel that way about me, but I know you, you only ever want what you can't have"

He takes a few steps forward and this time she doesn't move, so his palm finds her cheek and she stays frozen in place as she looks into his deep brown eyes.

"Okay then, I'll respect that, but you should know you're wrong, and this time I won't back down and try to move on with someone else, this time I'm certain of what I want and I'm gonna fight for you Donna, no matter how long it takes me and how long I have to endure seeing you with him, I'm gonna fight for you with all I've got" He promises as he lets her go and walks out of her office, leaving a dumbfounded Donna behind.

She doesn't see Thomas that night, she can't bring herself to. Not when all she can think about is the man that's had her heart for the past thirteen years.

She can't stop thinking about his words, about how truthful he looked and how sincere he sounded.

Everything she's ever wanted was right in front of her. A future with Harvey, her feelings finally being reciprocated after so long, so why did she reject him? Why did she say she wanted to make it work with Thomas when really, the whole time she had to stop the impulse of throwing her arms around Harvey and beg him to take her against his desk without caring that they were in the middle of his office on a working day.

The answer is very simple. She's terrified. Terrified that this is indeed a knee-jerk reaction to her being with someone else, terrified that he actually meant every word he said, terrified to try things with Harvey and losing him for good if it doesn't work out.

And for the first time she thinks she actually understands why he went after Paula, because it was easy, and that's how she feels about Thomas. It's so easy and simple to be with him. Thomas wants her, he wants to be with her, there's no denying feelings, none pent up tension caused by thirteen years of abstaining themselves after having had the most wonderful night of their lives together, there's no teasing that never leads anywhere, there's no heartache, mostly there's no risk, if it doesn't work with Thomas she'll move on easily, if it doesn't work with Harvey, it would destroy her.

She heads into her office next morning, grateful to not cross paths with Harvey. As she enters she finds a huge bouquet of red roses sitting on her desk and as she rounds her desk to retrieve the card, she realizes there's one single white rose in the middle of the red ones.

'you always stand out from the rest'

She sits back on her chair and lets out a long breath as she re-reads the card over and over again. It's not signed, but it doesn't need to be, she would recognize his terrible handwriting anywhere.

"Thomas's got it bad" Samantha comments from her doorway and Donna nearly jumps up on her seat as she hides the card and clears her throat.

"I guess he does" She says, trying to manage a smile.

"They're not from Thomas, are they?" Samantha asks next and Donna shakes her head.

"They're not" She admits and leans back against her chair.

"Listen, I know I'm not Rachel, but if you ever need to talk or just get drunk, I'm here, okay?" Donna smiles up at Samantha, truly appreciating the blonde's support.

"They're from Harvey" She confesses, deciding she can trust Samantha. "He… says he wants us to be together"

"Can't say I didn't see that one coming" Samantha retorts with a playful smile and Donna groans.

"Why does it have to be now?" She whines and her friend chuckles.

"Because Donna, more often than not, in order for someone to realize what they have or could have, they need to feel that they're about to really lose it… Harvey feels threatened by Thomas, because he knows he could be it for you… Anyone can see he's in love with you"

"In love with me? We just started seeing each other"

"I didn't say that because of Thomas" Samantha retorts with a smile tugging at her lips. "I meant Harvey, I knew the first time I saw you together, as an outsider maybe it was clearer to me than to the people that worked with you on a daily basis, the way he looks at you Donna, it's like you hold the moon or something"

Donna stares fixedly at Samantha "I didn't take you for an observer like that"

The name partner chuckles softly "Well, I am, way more observant than you think" Samantha walks out of Donna's office without uttering another word, and leaving the redhead to herself.

It's around an hour later that her direct line rings and she takes the call without looking at the caller ID "Hello" She says and freezes at the voice on the other side of the line.

"Did you like them?" His deep tone takes her by surprise and she tries to collect herself.

"Who told you how to dial my extension?" She asks instead of answering his question.

"I'm not as useless as you think" A moment passes by "Gretchen taught me" He ends up confessing and she chuckles.

"I'm sure she did… They are beautiful" She admits softly.

"They have nothing against you, you're way more beautiful"

"Harvey" She warns.

"What?" He asks innocently and she resists the urge to smile.

"Stop" She says instead.

"I told you I would fight and I will, this is just the beginning" She closes her eyes tightly, and for a second she considers letting him win, but her cell phone chimes in and she sees that she has a text from Thomas.

"I have to go"

"Okay… And Donna?"

"What?"

"I love you" He hangs up before she can say anything else.

She leans back in her chair, looking up at the ceiling. "I love you too" She whispers into the empty room, wishing she could work up the courage to walk towards his office and say those words to his face.

He wasn't kidding when he said he'd fight for her. Chocolates, more flowers, a handbag from Hermés that he claims he chose all on his own, a cup of triple nonfat sugar-free mocha latte every morning waiting for her on top of her desk, and a few deliveries to her house of delicious tubs of Chunky Monkey. She has to recognize that he's really trying, and it's so romantic and sweet, it would be perfect if it weren't for the fact that she's still trying to make it work with Thomas, even though she honestly doesn't know why anymore.

Wrapping up for the day, she hears laughter in the hallway and sees Louis and Thomas walking towards her. She told him to wait for her in the car and that she'd be right down, adamant to avoid any encounter between Harvey and Thomas if she could help it.

"Hey" He says cheerfully as both men walk into her office.

"Hey" She calls back "I thought you were going to wait in the car" Donna says with a tight smile.

"Well, yeah, but I saw Louis walking by and decided to say hello, he told me to come up" He says while pointing towards the Managing Partner.

"Oh yes, I thought I could keep Thomas company while you finished work" Louis explains.

"That is very nice of you Louis" Donna tells her friend who beams at her.

"Let me say you guys look fantastic together, and Thomas you're a true romantic, no wonder she's so smitten by you with all those thoughtful gifts you keep sending her" Louis tells his long-time client who looks at him confused.

"What do you mean?" Thomas asks and Louis fails to see the color draining from Donna's pale face.

"I mean the daily coffee, the flowers, the chocolates, the designer's bags, you have an exquisite taste my friend" Thomas looks at Donna who looks like a deer caught in headlights and as usual Louis fails to read the room.

"You know, I got it at first, because courting such a wonderful woman is not an easy job, but the fact that you keep doing it after you have been dating for a few weeks now, that's way more romantic. I'm honestly amazed by how well you know her after such a short time, not even I know all her favorite things and I've known her for years, you've done your homework man" He finishes and Donna wishes earth would swallow her.

"Thank you Louis, it would be very romantic indeed if I were the one sending Donna those gifts" Thomas says curtly and Louis's eyes widen as he looks at her and she nods, confirming he definitely screwed up.

"I'm so sorry" He immediately apologizes to her and she shakes her head.

"It's okay Louis, give us a moment, will you?" The Managing Partner doesn't have to be told twice before he flees the COO's office.

"They are from him, aren't they?" Thomas asks and Donna doesn't need to ask who he is referring to. The couple of very awkward encounters they've had in the lobby, or the fact that she avoids having Thomas at the firm like the plague, confirms that he indeed knows something is going on between her and Harvey. "I should have known, no one orders that much ice cream"

"Nothing's happened if that's what you're thinking" She hurries to say and he nods.

"Okay, I trust you Donna, so what I need to know is if he's bothering you and you want me to have a word with him so it will stop"

She looks at him with a frown, not being able to ever conceive that Harvey's romantic behavior could bother her, if anything, she loves it.

"No!" She exclaims a bit too quickly "He's not bothering me" She clarifies and Thomas sighs.

"Then what's going on Donna? Cause I for one don't appreciate him having these gestures with my girlfriend… You favorite coffee, chocolates, flowers, it's not something friends usually do, and if Louis thought it was me sending you all those stuff, it means this isn't his regular behavior"

"Thomas-"

"Who are you to him?" She looks at him fixedly, trying to figure out how to answer that, because it's something she herself has wondered more than once.

"I don't know how to answer that"

"He definitely has feelings for you Donna, so if you can't tell me who you are to him, maybe you can tell me who he is to you" He presses and she feels tears pricking at her eyes, because she can answer that, but she's terrified to.

"He's my everything, Thomas" She confesses, being completely honest, because Thomas deserves nothing but the truth, he's been so good to her, and she hates hurting him, but she can't keep the facade up anymore. She can't keep pretending that's not what Harvey is.

"I see" Thomas says with a hurt look as he lowers his gaze to the floor.

"I wanted this to work so badly, you've no idea how much I wanted us to work. I told him that, and he said he was going to fight for me, and I tried to tell myself that I didn't want him to, but I did Thomas, it's all I've ever wanted, and I'm so sorry you got caught up in the middle of it, but you can't help who you fall in love with, and I've been in love with him for so long that it's become a part of me" Tears fall down her cheeks and Thomas walks over to her and cradles her jaw while whipping her tears away with his thumbs.

"I hope he knows how lucky he is" He says softly as he presses a kiss to her forehead and Donna lets out a small sob. "Goodbye Donna"

"Goodbye Thomas" She whispers back as she watches him leave her office.

She bursts into his office and he looks up "It's over, he found out about your daily gifts and I had to tell him the truth"

He takes in her appearance, it's obvious she's been crying and he hates to see her in any kind of pain but all the same he can't help the small smile forming on his lips.

"And what truth is that?" He asks apprehensively.

"I told him I'm in love with you" She simply replies.

"Good" Is all he manages to say.

"Good? You ruined yet another relationship for me and all you have to say is good?"

He shrugs and stands to walk closer to her "I guess I do, yeah. And just so you know, the knowledge that you're available again doesn't scare me at all" He says as he stands right before her.

She lifts a finger to let him know she wants him to keep his distance "If you wanna do this, you better be sure of it Harvey" She says with conviction and he nods.

"I've never been more sure of anything in my entire life, Donna'' He's quick to reply.

"Okay, so how should we do this?" She asks and he can tell she's nervous and has no idea what to do.

"Well, you're the most important person in my life, so I don't wanna rush anything, I want to do this right. I suggest we go on a date first"

"Okay, yes, that sounds like a good idea" She agrees with a nod.

"Good, I'll pick you up tomorrow at eight?"

"Yes, okay"

"Okay" He repeats as he keeps his gaze fixed on her lips.

"Harvey" She says his name in a pleading tone as his palms frame her face and he's way too close, his perfume invading all her senses.

"I'll wait until tomorrow night to kiss you if you want me to Donna" He whispers as his breath touches her lips.

"I don't think that'll be necessary" She replies as she closes the remaining distance and presses her lips to his.

They fit so well, their mouths immediately finding the rhythm they did the last time they really kissed, almost thirteen years ago. His tongue begs for entrance and she opens her mouth eagerly to let him in. She lets out a soft and involuntary moan as their tongues meet after so long, and no one's ever kissed her the way Harvey does, no one's ever made her feel the way he does, and in that searing kiss she realizes this is what forever tastes like.

She wakes up to her hair being caressed softly, she opens her eyes and finds a smiling Harvey looking at her adoringly, she closes them again as a smile forms on her own lips.

"Good morning" He rasps out, his voice still consumed by sleep.

"Good morning" She says back as she opens her eyes again to look at him and make sure this isn't a dream. "I hope you know I'm still expecting you to take me out on a date tonight"

He chuckles softly and leans in to softly kiss her lips "Of course I am, but before we do that I'd like us to go grocery shopping so I can test my theory" He says with a smirk and she bites her lip as she smiles at him.

"Is that so?" She asks softly and he nods.

"I'm also planning on giving those strawberries and whipped cream we'll buy a good use tonight after our date, when I get to sleep with you again" He replies and she pushes him against the mattress so she can climb on top of him.

"The strawberries and whipped cream sound very tempting but you don't have to wait until tonight to sleep with me again, we're way past it, don't you think?" She lifts a perfect eyebrow and he pushes her hair behind her shoulders and nods.

"I lost count after the third round, but yeah, I believe we're way past that" He agrees with a smirk.

"Then what are you waiting for?" She challenges and squeals when he flips their position in bed so she's laying on her back and he's on top of her.

"Donna" He says in a serious tone, and she nods.

"I know, I love you too" He smiles widely at the way she always gets him, always knows what he needs and what he wants to say, sometimes even before he does.

"I know" He repeats her words and she returns his smile as he closes the distance between them and join their lips in the kiss that will start the first round of that morning, and Harvey for one is so happy it's a saturday, because there's no way he's letting her out of his bed anytime soon.

This time, he'll make sure she stays forever.
