Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Curse of the Wendigo. Enjoy the 3900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY; Monty and a few others do.
Reo seemed to question upon the moment what the hell was going to happen next. He yawned and growled, his hands slowly starting to clench towards her as the giant Faunus looked at Velvet who clenched her fists and bared her fangs at her before she charged forwards.
Velvet growled, her powerful clawed feet pushing off the ground before slamming into him as he growled, displacing sand and dirt as he pulled his arms up and crossed his arms before being thrown down the hill. Reo yawned and felt himself being thrown back as he rolled his eyes.
His massive paws slid through the dirt and threw sand back and forth. It was all too much for him at the moment and yet it seemed as if he'd be screaming into the darkness.
"Your strong, but it seems you are faster than you look rather than you are strong," Reo stated as he clenched his fists at her. "Still? I felt the hell out of that so it's still pretty damn strong." Reo added before he looked around the room for the time being.
"Are you going to be, ok?" Velvet questioned before she crossed her arms and looked around. "There's a lot more training to need to be, ok?" Velvet stated before she shook her head and then looked at him.
He brushed off his arms and then looked down at the ground before beating his chest in rage and roaring to himself as she looked at herself. Velvet seemed to be prepared upon now what to do next.
"Are you going to be, ok?" Velvet repeated before she tilted her head to the side.
"Yes. We need to get going." Reo seemed to have to find it more and more.
"Then what next?" Velvet asked as Reo sighed and looked down at the ground.
It was clear something would need to give. Neither of them could rule so easily and yet? Reo was terrified of the idea she'd be left without a mentor to try and show her the ropes of work.
It was all going to be something interesting for now as he seemed to be able to speak before yawning and setting his giant pawns into the sand.
"We're going to need to train," Reo said before he looked at the smaller woman. "There's a lot worse things to do… A lot more terrible problems are going to be dawning as well." Reo said before he frowned and looked to the ground before she tilted her head to the side.
It was clear to them what needed to happen before now. It was so much more fun to think of that than the terrible alternates of now before.
It seemed to be cutting through his mind like a knife and it was going to be bothering him for the entire day as they pondered what needed to be done and dusted for now.
Velvet seemed to question what was on his mind and he looked at her new friend, all of their problems were going to be problematic.
It wasn't going to be something that need to be addressed anytime soon. It wasn't going to be easy, nor would it end in the present future, there was little to nothing for now before it seemed to have to question.
"We're going to win or lose either way." Velvet stated to which Reo was silent.
"Perhaps we should try and think this through?" Reo asked before sighing. "Are you going to be, ok?" Reo asked to which she nodded.
"Good, then we can rest for now," Reo stated before sighing to himself. "Whatever will happen will happen, Vel. You're going to need to deal with it properly." Reo added to which he rubbed at his temples and down at the ground.
If anything? Progress was better than nothing. The more training, they managed to get it done and dusted. He'd be able to relax more and more knowing she was ok and they were able to focus on getting their powers under control.
"You will get stronger, but so will the curse," Reo said as he leaned on his hands. "Anyway? Perhaps it's better left unsaid at the moment, but you're going to be far different than you are now. I don't know how different, but you will see changes in you that will be rather different." Reo stated before he sighed to himself.
Perhaps it was simply his behavior, but he found it to be far more interesting than he wished… The enjoyment of life was something Velvet gave him.
"Can I sit in your hands?" Reo heard Velvet ask, her fluffy ears lowering slightly as she did so. "Please? I want to be able to relax." Velvet said to Reo.
"Ok… Are you sure you're going to be, ok?" Reo stated to which there were a few more seconds of silence.
"Yes. I'll be ok if you're going to ask." Velvet stated to which Reo hummed to himself.
"Then let's get going. I'm going to need to tell and warn you that the curse might act up again. I can't tell if that is supposed to need to occur or not. The curse went after me like that as well." Reo said before he yawned.
Reo sat backward on his side, crushing a stone behind him for now. All of it was clearly said and done, their problems would be uneasy for now, and yet? Well, Reo nodded to her as she slowly started to sit in the palm of his hands.
Reo yawned to himself before he sighed to himself. It was all too much for him at the end of his mind. Perhaps it was just her and yet he could not for the life of him just relax, for now, all of it had to end sometime soon.
He still smirked to himself all the same. All the patience in the world would not save himself from it nor prepare them for what was to come. If they were not ready soon? All the Wendigo would need to do is wave its hands and watch it all fall apart.
Still? Reo could not allow doubt and fear to eat his freedom and desire to help the innocent, parts of whom he was had remained within this massive frame and it would continue to remain that way for such a time that it'd find itself within.
Velvet sniffed at the air and growled as she unfurled her claws, utterly interested as to how today could go. Reo sighed and grabbed her as if she was a pup. It seemed his presence calmed her and yet he did not at all understand what it had been like or why it would happen this way. Perhaps some sort of victory on his mind existed, perhaps something within his DNA existed.
He did not know, but it worried Reo more and more at the end of the day that Velvet may grow beyond her control… the second that happened would be the day people died in droves and Reo dreaded it like the plague.
Still? He felt… Peaceful as Velvet sat in the palm of his hands. She was like a doll to him, one which needed to be protected it was… Precious as if she'd break the second, he dropped her. Velvet let out a smile that he might melt from as to how pure it was and he felt her grip his hands with a gentle warmth that told him there was still a kind soul within her fearsome maw.
She cupped his giant hands to which he tilted his head to the side. It was clear more and more of their troubles would need to be quelled before any such problems occurred.
"We're the same, Reo. We are like this together, right?" Reo heard from Velvet as he frowned and started to look around with a desire to do better, with a measure of peace and prosperity.
"I still did this to you… I made you into this and I can't fix it." Reo stated to which Velvet fell silent.
She looked around before finally deciding to speak for another second. She knew Reo blamed himself for what had happened and a rational person may blame him as well, but what had happened had happened and it would be far too easy to simply throw him under the bus and call it a day.
There was a lot more to think of what to say and what to do than now and forever, it was too much not just for them but for someone else. It'd need to end sometime soon, there was too much too soon on too easy a problem… If nothing else? He'd be remiss to find its end the same way it should have ended.
Perhaps it needed to be ended and yet there was no problem with it all, no problem at all as of now when push came down to it. Velvet was honestly the choice partner for anyone or anything when push came to shove and yet Reo could not grasp it for the time being.
It was so odd, so interesting, and captivating that she was a small little ball of fluff and claws that fit in the palms of his hands before he yawned.
"I'm worried it will kill you more than me, Vel. I… Can't let the Wendigo kill you. it already killed enough of my team." Reo said before taking a deep breath as he looked around and sighed, rolling his eyes to himself before slowly thinking.
If anything? The idea was going to hold more and more merit for now. Reo was all too amused as he sighed to himself before Reo tilted his tilted head and looking up into the air as he clicked his tongue and teeth against each other.
Reo raised his eyebrow as he tilted his head at her, perhaps too curious for now. Velvet squeezed his hands as the two Faunus looked at each other.
"I'm not going to let you fight the Wendigo alone, ok? Stop trying to scare me off… This isn't your fault. It didn't ruin my life or anything." Velvet said as Reo hummed before nodding to himself as he crossed his arms.
Perhaps it would need to end sometime soon as she looked up into the air as of now. Velvet yawned and crossed her tall legs under her as she turned to question what to do next.
"Are you going to be, ok?" Velvet asked as he nodded to himself before he clicked his tongue once more. "Then I'm sure you're going to be able to relax sooner or later. We already got through some of the stuff, didn't we?" Velvet asked to which Reo sighed and rolled his eyes at her.
She sat cross-legged in the palms of his hands and such. It was to be adorable if he was honest and Reo could not help but think despite her looking like a giant mesh of bone and claw that she still looked adorable in her way. The two Faunus were constantly going to be together in this brawl and it was clear both were a team at the time.
"A lot of training isn't going to be enough. Besides? We still need training for now and we aren't done yet." Reo stated before he sighed to himself and looked around.
Reo was a lot more amused by her as she slowly made herself comfortable. It was a lot more of an odd little game between them as he sighed and yawned to himself and slowly set himself in the sand.
"We need to chat with the others. You're going to transform more and more each night which means it will get worse and worse with each little day that passes by." Reo said as Velvet hummed to herself and clicked to herself.
Reo looked at Velvet who still seemed like a toy in his arms. It was odd for him that someone so small at least in THIS type of form was so capable of something beyond any amount of issue at the end of the day.
Reo was all too curious as to what she could do to see what was coming and what she could do as of now. Reo could only ponder as it seemed to be all too much for him and her to end today.
"So, what's going to happen? I don't at all understand?" Reo heard from Velvet before she looked up into the sky. "And don't say the sun will be up… Does magic fix our clothes, or not? because I don't want to need to have to try and fix these, my sewing skills aren't perfect." Velvet stated to which Reo fell silent, utterly baffled as to how well this needed to be ended today and for the future.
Still? Reo was silent. They had several hours and between the face, their monster forms did not at all require the same amount of rest and the fact they slept differently were all dead giveaways as to the fact they were not at all human for now.
Well, Faunus. Pure Faunus weren't like this, were they? There were to be answers to this. There was always an answer and Reo aimed to find it if not for himself. well, for both of them and what needed to be done, how this was going to end today or later. It'd need to be properly dispatched and he could not do that without an understanding, a weakness as of now.
Velvet was focused entirely on more and more of what needed to come next. Velvet was certainly a saint in Reo's mind as she rocked on her clawed heels, only questioning what she could do… Reo glanced at the dust crystals which poked from her skin. It seemed far more painful than it should have been… But then again? Their issues did not simply die so easily.
"Hey, did you listen? I asked something." Velvet stated, a twinge of anger in her tone as she turned.
"It will be at least 10 or more hours until the sun comes up and the curse will probably be worse tomorrow… You mutated a lot faster than me but I don't know if this is going to be what your final form is like… I do want to point out for at least a week. It's going to HURT when you transform." Reo stated as he frowned to himself.
It was not a lie or boast. She could tell there were no real damn problems with this as of now. Reo told no lies which meant there was to be pain in her future… All of it worried her and yet there was little to nothing she could do about it besides praying for the best.
It was worth more and more problems and yet he still laughed at the irony of it all. He was able to try and focus on it utterly and entirely. It was worth more and more and more of an issue as of now.
Velvet finally stood up, flipping into the air as Reo hummed and tilted his head towards her as she grinned and rushed at him. Reo connected the dots within a few seconds of such mirth and amusement as he watched and then slowly prepared himself for her attack as he was well aware she'd throw a damn attack at him.
Reo sighed and watched as she spun before leaping into the air, giving a massive roundhouse kick which, he barely managed to block with his arm, still being thrown dozens of feet back.
"Ok, that stung," Reo stated, shaking the pain from his hand. "Guess we're going to fight then? You could give me some warning about it, no? because I'm starting to ponder what's on your mind." Reo stated as he yawned, exposing rows of massive teeth.
He was fascinated by what would come next as of now. Velvet was all too much for now and honestly as he looked upward. Velvet smirked before he seemed to question as he seemed to need to focus upon now. The idea it could not be grasped was amusing to him.
"C'mon… Heh, kinda fun." Velvet said as Reo rolled his eyes and beckoned her onwards.
She charged forwards, claws held upwards only as Reo hummed and simply pondered what their next activity was to be like for now and yet. Well, Reo simply pondered it as best as he was able to duck the kick before gently grabbing her arm and sliding her across the sands with a one-armed throw.
In her credit? She was FAR stronger than looked as she slid and spun in a circle and charged towards him, interested in what may or may not come. She reared back her right arm for a massive haymaker. Reo felt himself become surprised by her choice of attack considering she seemed more suited to kicks as of now.
Still? Reo would not too easily and curiously end it. He lanced out his hand which caught hers as the ground cracked under the two mutant Faunus as he hummed, feeling her strain against his strength and power within her frame.
"Damn, your pretty strong, Vel… Ow." Reo stated as he tried and failed to push her back as he was forced to dig in his heeled paws today.
Reo smirked before she tried to slam her other hand into his before he sighed to himself. Reo tilted his head as both of the mutant Faunus struggled against each other before she looked at him as he chuckled to himself.
Still? There was a lot more mirth as she looked up into the sky before she clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth before Reo tilted his head. The ground cracked under them as the two Faunus pushed against one another, their bodies warping as they did so.
Reo watched the dust crystals on her body glow before Reo's bone-like structures glowed a hellish red before an explosion of energy tossed them back, cracking the ground further and sending a shockwave that tossed mounds of sand and shattered rocks like glass. They rushed each other again, slamming into one another with the force of bombs.
Reo blinked as he looked at his body before letting out a roar and bending down as hellish energy warped his body. the bones cracked as dust flowed through them, crimson, yellow, and black dust crystals jutted along his spine, and shoulders and bone expanded across his chest, he felt himself grow a few feet as well.
Velvet did not escape the change either, blue dust crystals poked from the ends of her shoulders and she grew somewhat taller.
Reo and Velvet pulled apart a few seconds later, shocked and utterly confused as to how it was to be.
"What…?" Reo asked as he looked at his new body and Velvet's slightly different one. "Does the damn curse change when we're around each other?" Reo asked before he felt her charge at him again, Reo held up his hand.
Velvet landed in it as she had before. Reo looked at her and slowly started to heft her higher. It was something odd but he felt a bond with her and yet it was so damn impressive.
"We need to try that again…" Velvet said to which Reo laughed.
"Not yet… I've never seen this happen at all, Vel." Reo stated as he looked around before he looked up at the sky.
Reo hummed and slowly placed her on his shoulder before he looked around. Velvet looked different but it looked like she was beginning to find control over it.
"I still want to try it." Velvet stated before noticing a twinge of growling from her voice. "We need to learn it all for now." Velvet stated as Reo hummed.
"Someone's eager to learn the ropes," Reo stated with a smirk as he did so. "Fine, I'll fight you tomorrow... But we aren't going to do this sort of thing tomorrow. I don't want to try this sort of thing without being caught off guard." Reo said before he seemed to need to focus for a moment.
It was worth a moment of silence as she pondered what to do next. Reo had a point even if she felt amazing and on top of the world, she needed to pace herself.
"It felt good though, right~?" Velvet questioned to which Reo fell silent.
"Yeah… Did." Reo said as he brought a hulking paw to his maw.
Reo was silent for a second as he felt energy dance over him. He had felt something dance over him and he had felt it when he first became like this now. It was worth learning more and more about it now. A lot more interested to see what it was for now… What was to come and what was to go, more and more invested in what needed to be ended today.
Perhaps it needed to end and end properly but it was still beyond what needed to be said and done, needed to be discussed in greater detail than before, and even then, it did not end anytime soon.
Perhaps he wanted more and more amused by it all. It seemed to be more and more amusing for now. It needed to grasp before now, something needed to end and snap. Yes, it needed to end as of now…. And yet? Reo wanted MORE, a LOT MORE. It was a lot more of an interesting thing.
"You feel a lot more powerful, don't you?" Velvet asked as Reo hummed before he looked around and nodded to end before now as he smirked.
It was enjoyable as Reo would later agree but he didn't want her to know that. Reo would agree about it, but never openly, no… Agreeing with it.
"Are you going to be, ok?" Reo asked as he placed his giant paws in the sand and slowly yet surely bent down to try and think for a few seconds.
Reo grinned as did she. Both wanted power and it was clear what both had done to one another was… Intoxicating. Reo simply did not want to agree as he knew if it all came to an end. She would desire power simply as much as he and Reo were… Not at all eager to hear what she'd do if all the power existed within her.
Velvet yawned and slowly started to look upwards before looking down at the ground before he sighed. Velvet yawned to himself as he clicked his tongue before tilting his head.
"We need to get going, I'm not at all going to question all of this ending for now." Velvet seemed to hear as she tilted her head.
Velvet yawned as she clicked her tongue before tilting his head. It was worth some amount of amusement, some sign she seemed to focus upon.
"Are you going to be, ok?" Velvet asked before tilting her head before she seemed to look upwards into the sky. "Velvet? I don't know what to do next. There's a lot of crap to try and change before now. There's too much on my mind for now." Reo said before he yawned.
Velvet smirked and he could not at all deny what was coming. She wanted more, a LOT more and it was to be expected such problems existed because she as a woman was eager to keep going in a battle.
Still? Reo was not unwilling to understand now, he was all too focused on their training. Reo seemed to smirk if only for a second as he looked around before setting his hands on the sand as he slowly started to glance upwards and into the night sky. It was fun, but it needed to end today before someone got hurt in the crossover for now.
Yet? Reo was nothing if not at all confident in his ability to see it to the end and yet? well, Reo did not at all understand what was coming or how well it needed to be a certain way and it needed to be a certain way NOW.
Reo yawned, all too eager to see it come to an end before he yawned and slowly started to prod along slowly, looking at her whom sat atop his shoulder before she questioned before yawning to herself before it seemed to getting atop.
Reo rolled his
