Chapter 22 Rookies
Its been a week since the Malevolence was taken away from the empire and since David was freed from their control.
Now the Tide of the War was going in the Legion's favor with both now under them.
David right now was getting his last check up.
"Seems as though whatever programing was in your head has been cleared out." Bultar Swan said.
"Good. That stuff was giving me headaches since It got switched off. " David said as Sean walked in.
"How you feeling now?" Sean asked.
"Good. Honestly my head has never felt better." David said before Krennic's Death troopers barged in.
"Arrest him." Krennic said as one tried to do so till Sean stopped him.
"What do you think you're doing now?" Sean asked annoyed.
"Arresting this scum and preparing to have him executed." Krennic said.
"You don't have authority to do so. His actions were against his will using mind control. It's out of his system now." Sean said.
"Oh, so we should just forget all the terrible things he's done then. I don't think so." Krennic said.
"Don't act like you actually fucking care. This is about getting even with me because of what happened with Malefor. I told you before. The Basilisk ambushed us and he got turned to stone. There was nothing we could do." Sean said making him glare.
"You mean there was nothing you wanted to do." Krennic said.
"Enough." Tarkin said walking in. "This nonsense ends right now. You have no authority to execute him when his actions were not his to make." Tarkin said making him glare.
"Oh I'll find reason. Believe me Tarkin." Krennic said as he and his troopers left.
"Who was that jerk?" David asked.
"Krennic. He's been a rival of this family for years now. Nearly four years ago his adopted son was killed by the Basilisk and he's blamed us ever since." Tarkin said.
"But clearly it was no one's fault." David said.
"No. But he still blames us." Sean said.
Later
Sean was on his flag ship looking at the fleets of the Legion ready for battle.
Walking back he noticed Anakin looking at reports.
"Still here, You should get some rest. You won't be any good to anyone if you're dead tired." Sean said.
"I'll sleep after we find Grievous. UNSC intelligence spotted him in the Balmorra. That was weeks ago though. Since then he's vanished." Anakin said.
"I know him personally and knowing him he's up to something. But like I said you won't be able to stop him if your dead tired. Get some rest. I'll look into the matter." Sean said making him sigh.
"Fine." Anakin said leaving.
"He's stubborn when it comes to getting results. One of his better skills of commitment." Reznov said.
"Aye." Sean said before Forge appeared in hologram form. "Forge. How goes the inspection?" Sean asked.
"Ah, Some of them could use some upgrades. But they all passed inspections. Only one left then we'll be right back." Forge said ending his transmission.
Meanwhile
The outpost in the Rishi system was quiet for now.
A deck officer went out to look for anything unusual but saw nothing but flying creatures.
"Nothing to report. All quiet...As usual." The Deck officer said.
Inside a small group of clones were listening to some music while fooling around.
"Shouldn't you be watching your scope Hevy?" Echo asked.
"Yeah let me check." Hevy said looking and saw nothing. "Well would you look at that all clear...Just like the last five hundred times I've looked at it." Heavy said annoyed.
"Personally I like the peace and quiet. Catch up on reg manuals." Echo said.
"Echo what is wrong with you?" Heavy asked. "We should be on the front lines blasting droids." Heavy said.
"Ah leave him alone. They left him in his jar for to long." 5's said making him laugh before the Sargent appeared.
"Attention Sargent on Deck!" Hevy said getting the others attention.
"At ease. I would like to remind you all that the commander's second in command along with other high ranking officers are on their way here for inspection. The commander expects nothing less than a perfect report from us. I dont need to remind you if the enemy captures this station they can launch a surprise attack on our home world." The Sargent said.
"Sir yes sir." The clones said.
Meanwhile
Sean continued to look into Grievous before seeing something in recent reports.
"Thats strange." Sean said.
"What is it?" Julia asked.
"Take a look at this." Sean said showing Grievous's locations from start to finish.
"They look like they end near Kamino." Reznov said.
"Grievous is bold but he's not stupid. Even he knows it would be difficult to get past that blockade thats also reinforced by the UNSC. So theres no way he would be able to get past it so easily and lost most of his invasion forces." Sean said.
"That and the Rishi outpost close by would alert them the second they tried. Giving us a chance to bring out the reserves and ambush him from behind. He would lose in minutes." Julia said.
"Yeah. Which makes me think he's planning something big." Sean said.
Meanwhile
At the Rishi station a deck officer viewed the place before a meteor shower was seen.
"Raise the shields." The Sargent said making one of the clones do that.
"You wanted excitement Hevy." Cutup said.
"Right...Oooh Meteor shower." Hevy said sarcastically.
The Meteor shower was over pretty quickly before the Deck officer had a look and saw what looked like a landing craft in the distance.
"What the?"
Only for a Humanoid machine to drop down in front of him before snapping his neck.
Dropping down from the drop ship other machines of the exact same design came down before rushing to the station.
"Trooper, Report in." The Sargent ordered on the comms.
"I don't see him down there Sarge." 5's said.
"You two go down there and find him." The Sarge said as Two clones rushed down.
Only to meet the new droids.
"What the hell are those!" One yelled before they got blasted as the rest rushed down.
"Sound the Alarm." The Sarge said as Hevy tried but nothing happened.
"I can't! They've disabled it." Hevy said.
"Get a message to the fleet. We have to warn...Ahh!" The Sarge yelled as he got blasted.
"Sarge!" Hevy yelled before the rest ran off and sealed the doors.
"This way." Echo said leading them to the vents before they escaped as the droids busted in.
Meanwhile
Grievouse was hearing the report from these new droids.
"Excelent. With the station under our control the Legion will not be able to send for reinforcements until it is too late." Grievous said as the transmission ended. "It would seem Hiroshi's new Droid production has indeed paid off." Grievous said.
Meanwhile
Hevy and his team arrived outside of the station.
"Now what?" Hevy asked before a drop ship soon arrived.
"That must be the inspection team. Get on their com link. We've got to warn them." Heavy said.
Forge, Rex and Cody walked outside of the drop ship and approached the station.
"These guys are sloppy. There has to always be a deck officer outside at all times." Forge said not seeing the new droids in hiding.
"I dont like the looks of this." Rex said before one of the new droids disguised as a clone approached them to turn them away.
Echo was trying to contact them but couldn't.
"It's no use! They must be using a different code." Echo said.
"I'll signal them with this flare." Heavy said.
"Take us to the Sargent in command you moron." Forge said annoyed
"Roger, Roger." The droid said making him raise an eyebrow before a flare went up.
"A droid attack flare?" Cody asked before Forge used his shotgun on the droid in the chest.
"Whoa! Forge! What the hell was that for?" Rex asked.
"Relax." Forge said taking off the helmet. "Oh boy. I was afraid of this. Looks like the Rumors about these New T series was true." Forge said.
"T-Series?" Cody asked.
"New droids that look more human. The full name would be T-800's." Forge said before they got attacked.
"Ambush!" Rex yelled as they fired at the enemy only to see the armor on the new droids was making it difficult.
"Ah! These Droids have tough armor!" Cody said.
Forge fired his weapon at the enemy before seeing them throw Grenades.
"OFF THE PLATFORM!" Forge yelled just as they exploded.
When the dust settles the T-Series looked around.
"No sign of them. They must have been destroyed. Resume defensive posts." The leading T-800 said while the rest walked away. Unknown to them Forge, Code and Rex used grappling hooks to lower themselves down to the ground.
"Well that went well." Rex said.
"No worse than that time on Tibrin." Cody said.
"We had Jedi on Tibrin They helped." Rex
"Quiet" Forge said as the four remaining clones approached them. "Helmets off now!" Forge said aiming his weapon at them.
"Uh sir?" Echo said.
"Take them off now!" Rex yelled getting them to do that making them lower their weapons before one of the eels came out before Forge shot it in a weak spot killing it making it fall down.
"Nice Shot." Heavy said.
"Name's Forge." Forge said placing his hand on the blood. "You'll refer to me as Sargent or sir." Forge said.
"Sir, Yes sir!" The clones said.
"I'm commander Cody, This is Captain Rex." Cody said.
"This is 5's, Echo and Cutup. I'm Hevy sir." Hevy said.
"Wheres your Sargent?" Cody asked.
"Dead sir. We're all thats left." Echo said.
"Well looks like we got a bunch of shinnies here." Forge said.
"Shinnies sir?" Echo asked.
"Thats right. Your armor its shiny and new. Just like you." Forge said placing his hand on his chest leaving the blood of the eel on him.
"Sir my batch is ready for a fight. We'll take our post back. Shiny or not." Heavy said.
"Theres hope for you yet." Forge said grinning.
Meanwhile
Sean was looking through various reports before frowning.
"Forge should have reported in by now." Sean said.
"Maybe theres interference or the base had some flaws that Forge felt he should explain." Anakin said.
"Nah, Forge would have just given that in full report not explain it to them. Something else is up." Sean said.
"Maybe. Want me to go and investigate?" Anakin asked.
"No. Not yet. Give them another 20 minutes and then we'll send the Annihilator to investigate." Sean said.
Meanwhile
The T-Series stood by the doors inside the station when one of them spotted something.
"What is that?"
Approaching them was Rex who walked more like one of them.
"Unit 234. Is that you?"
"Roger, Roger." Rex said.
"You sound strange. Is something wrong with your vocabulator?"
"Roger, Roger." Rex said more droid like.
"Take off your helmet. Let me see your faceplate." The Droid said.
"Roger, Roger." Rex said getting on his knees and pulled up the severed head of one of the T-Series. The others where by the walls to not get seen while Forge chuckled lightly.
"This is never gonna work." Cody said.
"Think again." Forge counted down before the door opened and Rex aimed his gun at them.
"Clones!"
"All droids are stupid." Forge said as they fired at them before charging in.
"Permission to take point sir." Hevy said.
"I'm always leading kid." Forge said
Rushing up to the command room they took them down before the lead T-Series tried to slashed Forge but got his head blasted off.
"We got a problem." Forge said as they looked outside seeing a massive fleet.
"Thats why they commandeered the outpost. They're mounting a full scale invasion." Echo said.
"We have to warn the fleet." Forge said.
"We tried. They disabled it and now they wired the all clear signal." Hevy said.
"Theres gotta be something we can do." Rex said.
"There is. We need to destroy the station." Forge said surprising them.
"But sir. Our orders are to defend this station." Echo said.
"Not anymore. I know this place uses a special fuel to heat the base. And it's highly explosive. We need to use it to destroy this place." Forge said.
"Better make it fast." Rex said seeing a drop ship.
"Lets get moving." Forge said.
Meanwhile
"Ok I've had enough. Prep the Annihilator to head to the Rishi station." Sean said.
"Right away." Anakin said before a small enemy fleet emerged from hyper space.
"Uh I think we're gonna have to wait for that one." Julia said making Sean frown.
"That is way too coincidental. Something is up." Sean said as the fleet attacked the enemy.
Meanwhile
Forge and the rest set up the explosives but had one problem.
"This Detonator won't sink up with the controls." Forge said.
"I'll take care of it." Hevy said as the rest went into the vents while Hevy tried to set it up.
"Oh you gotta be kidding me. This thing is fried." Hevy said as the droids busted in before he blasted them back.
"Hevy! Where are ya?" Forge asked on the comms.
"The Detenator is busted. I gotta do it manually." Hevy said.
"No way." Forge said.
"No choice." Hevy said before activating it.
Outside the whole place exploded as the men got to cover.
"Hevy always did hate that place." Echo said.
Grievous saw this from his ship.
"How brave. Sacrificing their station in order to stop the all clear signal." Grievous said before Sean's fleet emerged. "Full retreat now." Grievous said as his invasion fleet pulled back.
"Hold up." Forge said pulling out a device. "Hevy's life signs are still active. Weak but still active." Forge said.
"We gotta go back." Fives said.
Later
Hevy slowly woke up with a gasp seeing him on some train full of advanced technology.
"Easy there, pal."
Hevy looked seeing a member of the Task force and the leader of the Cyber Soldier division.
"Commander Taylor?" Hevy asked.
"Thats me." Taylor said.
"Wait...What happened to the station? How'd I get here. I was pretty sure I blew it up with me inside." Hevy said.
"You did. Your body was pretty badly damaged losing all your arms and legs but most of your body was easy to fix. Right now your body is in a medically induced coma prepping you for surgery." Taylor said.
"So...How are we here?" Hevy asked.
"Your brain was badly damaged so a Cyber brain was used to replace it. I got one too. You have what people call a Direct Neural Interface or DNI for short. It allows you to do things that machines can do. And a bunch of other stuff. Let me give you a little history lesson on the Cyber Soldier program." Taylor said standing up. "The train you're currently on is an old memory from back in 2013 on my Earth. It was carrying new technology which would advance our world ten times faster...Well...It would have...If it reached its destination." Taylor said.
"What do you mean by that?" Hevy asked.
"Wait for it." Taylor said as the back of the train exploded before all hell broke loose before everything paused. "Thats what I mean. Followers of Cinder before we knew she had followers somehow placed explosives on the train. Outcome? Train goes boom. Pissed a lot of people off. But surprisingly it actually had an exact opposite outcome than what she was hoping for. It actually convinced the world security council to advance our weapons projects even further. Which is what made the Cyber Soldier program." Taylor said.
"So what does this have to do with me?" Hevy asked.
"Forge gave us a full report on what you did. It takes commitment to sacrifice your life for the sake of the mission like that. It got our attention. You've been assigned into the Task force along with your squad who are also going through the same procedures." Taylor said.
"Really? Hevy asked.
"Oh yeah. You'll be under my command for the time being to get you boys used to the adjustments. It takes time to adapt to these kind of changes." Taylor said before everything went dark.
Sean and the rest were outside the operating room before Taylor walked out.
"He's under the procedure. He'll be back in the field in no time." Taylor said.
"Good. Now we need to increase security around the other stations for these things." Sean said holding one of the T-Series heads.
"Reminds me of a machine from an old movie from back home. Not this advanced though. Hiroshi is more dangerous here than he was back home." Taylor said holding it.
"What did he do exactly?" Sean asked.
"Made weapons but less advanced since the four nations were still isolated from the rest of the world back then. When he was working for Cinder though and learned what she did he regretted his actions and surrendered peacefully. Rotted in prison for 6 years before giving his life to stop Vlad."
"Who's Vlad? I remember Woods bringing him up when the Empire invaded Rhen Var." Anakin said.
"Cinder's Son. Went mad because of the harsh treatment Norris forced on him because of what his mother did. After 10 years he just left and we never saw him again till 10 years later. It's a long story." Taylor said.
"In any event the invasion was stopped before it could start. The loss of the Rishi station however will leave us at a disadvantage of detecting future invasions." Sean said.
"I wouldn't worry too much. Odds are they won't attack again anytime soon." Taylor said.
"Lets hope so." Anakin said.
Meanwhile
"Your mission failed?" Malgus asked Grievous surprised.
"One of the clones detonated an explosive inside the station which cut off the all clear signal. I'm actually impressed by the commitment he had." Grievous said.
"He was pathetic." Kylo said with his face now scared up.
"He was worth more than your life." Grievous said making him glare.
"We'll have to hold off our invasion attempts for now." Malak said.
"I understand." Grievous said leaving.
"He should be stripped of his rank for failing us and killed!" Kylo yelled.
"Then shouldn't we kill you for the failure you gave us?" Malgus asked making him look away. "Thats what I thought." Malgus said. (What a sorry loser)
