CHAPTER 130

Tsukumo lay quivering in a pool of his own blood, eyes unfocused. The bloodlust he felt was overwhelming, but yet, he was tied up. He couldn't move no matter how badly he wanted to.

It would have been easy for Tsukumo to escape, but the bars of the prison door were coated with silver.

His nose twitched, and Tsukumo raised his head, suddenly wary. 'It can't be. Not her. Don't come here Akeno. Just stay away.'

But her scent only came closer and closer, until at last, he was face to face with Akeno.

But she was different. She looked almost like Akenomyosei.

Tsukumo tried to tell her to get away, but the only sound that came out of his mouth was a strained snarl.

Several more people appeared, Quartz and a ragtag bunch of children.

But Akeno pushed them away. "Get back! He's dangerous! Go to GaleWing. It's safer with him right now."

Quartz hesitated. "But…"

Akeno narrowed her eyes. "Go! Now!"

Quartz and the children rushed off.

Tsukumo didn't pay attention, he was only staring at Akeno.

The bloodlust inside him strained and snarled. 'It's her it's her it's her! Her blood, you need it! Blood! Blood! BLOOD!'

Akeno started picking the lock on the door with a claw.

Tsukumo wriggled away from her, eyes the colour of freshly spilled blood. "G-get back! D-don't come any closer! Aargh!"

Akeno ignored him, frowning at the lock. "How do I get this stupid thing to open…"

Tsukumo laid still, exhausted with trying to fight his instincts.

There was a click, and the door opened.

Tsukumo snarled again, as Akeno walked closer to him.

'No…don't. Please…'

Akeno untied his bindings.

The moment he was freed, Tsukumo leapt at her, hugging her tightly and burying his face in the crook of her neck. He breathed in deeply, smelling her scent.

Akeno patted his back, careful not to touch his wounds with her long claws. "It's okay…" She whispered. Akeno blinked in surprise when she felt something wet land on her shoulder.

Tsukumo was crying, his teeth bared. But he wasn't biting down.

Akeno hugged him tighter. "Stupid bat. If you don't drink my blood now you'll die."

Tsukumo shook. "I'm sorry…"

He bit down hard, starting to drink her blood hungrily.

Akeno winced, but kept holding on tightly, refusing to let go. She could hear it. Thanks to her enhanced hearing. Akeno could hear the sound of Tsukumo gulping down her blood at a fast rate.

Gulp. Gulp. Gulp.

Akeno started to feel weaker and weaker, but she still tried to cling on.

Tsukumo didn't want to stop. He was so hungry. But when he felt Akeno slip from his grasp, and fall heavily to the floor, did he come back to his senses.

Tsukumo stared down at Akeno in shock, seeing her neck covered in blood. "A-Akeno? Hey! W-wake up!"

Tsukumo's cold heart started thumping erratically in his chest. Akeno was pale, deathly pale. She had reversed back to her normal semi-human form. But it didn't even look like she was breathing.

Tsukumo grabbed her by the shoulders, starting to panic. "Hey. Hey!"

Akeno was still. Tsukumo placed an ear to her chest, waiting anxiously.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

She was still alive.

The relief Tsukumo felt was still swamped by the guilt of hurting Akeno this badly.

He pulled her close to his chest, stroking her soft blond hair with one hand.

Akeno breathed in shakily, then opened her eyes. "Tsukumo?"

He looked down at her, worry and guilt and relief written all over his face. "H-hey…"

Akeno raised a hand, cupping his cheek. " Are you better now?"

Tsukumo grabbed her hand in his cold clammy one. "I should be asking you that. I took so much from you. I thought you were going to die."

Akeno smiled weakly. "Silly…you can't get rid of me that easily. And look, you're all healed too."

Tsukumo glanced at himself, seemingly surprised. "Oh. I guess I am. I was more worried about you though."

Akeno was about to respond, when a loud clang reverberated. The air started getting colder.

Tsukumo watched curiously as frost started crawling along the cell walls.

He picked up Akeno bridal style. For once, she didn't complain.

"There's only one person I know with the power to do this. Let's get moving Akeno."

"Of course. Though you're the one that's actually moving."

"Heh. You think you're so funny don't you."

"I try."
