Chapter 9: secrets, understanding and end of year one.

" Ah, that's everyone. Welcome to defence against the dark art."

Jakob looked over to where Headmaster Dumbledore and his previous professor had stood, looking over the class with a warm smile.

" Today, we will go over and learn the Verdimillious Charm," said the headmaster, observing if someone showed that they knew it.

Jakob, who knew the charm, looked out the window pondering other questions he had.

" Can anyone tell me what the charm does?"

A few hands rose, and Jakob noticed one of them quicker than the rest.

" yes, Miss Potter?"

Of course, thought Jakob and looked over to see the girl in question rise and answer.

"The charm makes green sparks and is used in duels."

Ivy sat down, and Dumbledore nodded, smiling back at her.

"Excellent, five points to Gryffindor."

She missed something, thought Jake and passed a note to the person sitting next to him and the girl read it and raised her hand.

Dumbledore looked at the girl and then gestured for her to speak.

" I just wanted to add that the spell's other purpose and the reason it was created is that it can sense and will notice the caster about things hidden by dark magic.

The headmaster glanced at Jakob for less than a second, then back at the Slytherin girl and nodded.

"Very well done, Miss Parkinson. Take five points to Slytherin.

The Albus turned away to the drawing board, and pansy gave a smirk to the Gryffindor redhead, who scowled back.

"Thank you, I had forgotten about that", Pansy Whispered to Jakob and received a smile from the boy who still looked like he was someplace else.

"Right, now I want you all to try and cast the spell. Let's make pairs of two so you get the feeling of how to launch it and how it feels to receive it."

Pansy, who was about to whisper to Draco to team up, got interrupted by Dumbledore.

" Mr Malfoy, why don't you get up and try first against Mr Goyle here."

Both boys got up and strolled forwards to the centre of the classroom, and Malfoy then proceeded to point his wand at the bigger boy.

When Dumbledore gave the nod, Malfoy uttered the spell, and green sparks flew out and hit the bigger boy, who clasped his arm in mild pain. Goyle then did the same. Malfoy looked slightly more pained by the spell as he got struck on the right leg. Albus nodded to both boys and smiled.

Very good. You may retake your seats.

"Miss Granger and miss Parkinson," said Dumbledore next and Jakob, who had looked out from the window, glanced over to see that the two girls walked forward. One looked at the other with disgust and got a glare back.

Pansy raised her wand, and so did the Gryffindor.

"Miss Parkinson, you can go first."

The girl did not even give Hermione a moment to prepare and shot away the green spell hitting her in the face.

"Miss Parkinson, that was that was unnecessary. This is merely for training." Dumbledore said while he watched Hermione see if she was okay.

Sitting in his seat, Jakob saw that Hermione had raised her hand, covering her cheek and looked shocked.

Common Hermione doesn't look weak here. Thought Jakob and saw Hermione raise her wand and point it at pansy, who crossed her arms with that smirk Jakob was used to seeing whenever she had humiliated someone and waited to see if they would cry.

Her voice was shaky, and when she uttered, the spell the spark who hit pansy in the chest did not seem to make the same effect as it had on herself moments before. Pansy had only made a grimace. When the Slytherin girl had realised that the Gryffindor had failed the spell

she tried to hold herself from laughing.

"Ah, this is s good time to say to you all. The intent is important when casting magic, and if you lack the intent, you might end up with s weaker spell."

Jakob, who had previously almost glared at his friend for humiliating his mudblood, looked at Dumbledore with interest.

" you can both take your seats," said Dumbledore, and Jakob saw Hermione sit and take her seat beside Ivy, who discreetly squeezed her arm with a measurement that she had done her best.

As Pansy sat beside him, giving him a proud smile. Jake ignored her and raised his arm. Everyone in the room who had seen it, including his friends, looked shocked that Jakob had something to ask for the first time.

Dumbledore looked for a moment as stunned as the rest but then smiled, gesturing for Jakob to continue, who stood up.

"Headmaster, you said that intent was essential and that the spell became weaker if you lacked the intent. This intent you speak of. Is it related to emotions?

Dumbledor's eyes sparkled as he loved to see young students ask questions that made them grow in both mind and magic.

"Intent and emotions are not the same things, Mr Quade but emotions can and will change the intent of the spell."

"So you mean," said Jakob after a moment of thinking.

"that if I were to cast, let's say for the sake of it, the levitating charm and had the emotion of sadness in me. What would happen to the spell."

"An exellent Question Mr Quade. I would say that nothing would change spells outcome. The spell is made for one purpose and only one, levitating.

But there are other spells, mostly charms and curses, that, when cast, won't do anything if you don't fill yourself with the right emotion.

"like the Patronus charm?" asked Quade, making the headmaster's smile wider.

"Exactly, Mr Quade. Take five points for a well-done question and reasoning.

Jakob nodded and sat down beside pansy, who looked confused back at him.

"Now, it was a very long time ago I answered a question like that. Thank you, Mr Quade." Dumbledor nodded his head to the Slytherin boy and then gave a quick eye to the boy who lived and said.

"Now, I want Mr Quade and Mr Potter to come forward," said Dumbledore, looking at both boys with an observing gaze.

Jake glanced over at the boy who lived and saw that Harry had given him a glare while rising from his seat, and his dog beside him had patted him on the back, cheering him on.

They walked forward, and then when they stood a few meters in front of each other, they raised their wands. Both are ready to cast.

"Well, Mr Potter, you will start casting the spell."

Harry looked at Jakob and took a breath.

" Verdimillous!" Harry almost shouted, and a bright spark flew from his wand, hitting the Slytherin on the right side of the chest.

The spark had intent, and Jakob had to take a step back, feeling the impact and electricity. He looked down and saw a small burn mark on his Slytherin robe.

Jakob looked to Dumbledore, who did not say anything.

" Is it my turn now?" asked the Slytherin, getting a nod of approval.

Jakob looked at Harry, who still wore that glare. Good thought, Jakob. Let's see what emotions and intent can do to this spell.

Jakob said the charm loud and clear, and a green jet flew out from his wand and hit the boy in the chest. Harry flew back and fell down on the floor, twitching slightly over the overcharge of the electricity.

Harry rose up and pointed his wand at the Slytherin and was about to cast something when Dumbledore spoke.

"That is enough, Mr Potter. You and Mr Quade can take a seat."

When Jakob walked over to his desk, he saw his friends smiling, and Draco gave a thumbs up.

Pansy, who looked like Jakob had rescued her cat, wrote a note and passed it to him as he retook his seat.

Jakob read: that was awesome!

Jakob gave a slight smile and then continued to look out through the window for the remaining class.

When the lesson was over, and they packed up, the headmaster asked for Jakob to stay behind.

Jakob groaned inwards but told his friends that he would see them later.

As he waited, he saw Hermione giving him a worried glance, and Jakob had to ignore it and turned around to see that Harry was smirking at him.

"Are you smirking, or do your lips still twitch after the spell I knocked you down with?"

Harry was about to retort but heard Dumbledor clear his throat.

"Next time, you will be the one on the ground." Whispered the boy who loved knocking Jakob's shoulder as he passed him.

When only he and Albus were left in the classroom, Jake took a breath and walked forwards.

" you wanted to talk, headmaster?"

Dumbledore conjured a chair for Jakob and proceeded to take a seat on the chair opposite side.

The Slytherin boy looked at the chair and then switched back to Dumbledore, who sighed slightly in disappointment.

" Mr Quade, I was very impressed about the charm you cast at Mr Potter before. It showed that you are stronger than the average first-year or even second-year student."

Jakob shrugged.

"I know that I have not made the best impression on you, Mr Quade and I hope that in the future, that can change."

Jakob raised an eyebrow. And said.

" You're right, headmaster, you have not."

"I see a lot of potential in you, my boy, but I also see a lot of anger and frustration. You remind me of a student I had once. He became great, but I fear that he lost himself on his way of seeking it."

Jakob listened but did not give any answer.

"I do hope that whatever anger or hate you bear, you can release and find something better. to empower your goals."

" You don't know anything about me, headmaster. Why would you think I carried anger or hate?" said Jakob trying not to glare at the old man sitting in Infront of him.

Dumbledor sighed.

" Because Mr Quade, that spell you hit Mr Potter with was not the charm I was teaching you all about. That was something else that your anger twisted."

Jakob looked a little surprised.

" So you mean that my emotions can turn spells into other spells depending on my mood?"

Dumbledor, who had caught the interest in Jakobs eye, chuckled a little and continued.

" Not every spell and not every emotion. As I said before, Mr Quade. Certain spells that can thrive on one emotion can be twisted if the feeling is greater than the intent. The spell will then change to suit the intent. If you use love to fuel a harmful spell, the intent won't allow the spell to be cast."

Jakob listened and, for the second time this day, he did have a look Dumbledore was used to seeing on the boy.

" When we use wave patterns and voice the spells that we cast, we actually only enhance the intent of casting the said spell. It's a bit of a double edge sword. It helps us focus and learn quicker but hinders our ability to grow and, for example, learn wandless magic or nonverbal magic."

Jakob thought for a moment.

" So if I, for example, use my intent and fuel it with the right emotion. Would that mean that I could learn wandless magic?"

Dumbledor smiled at the boy.

" It would take time, but I'm sure if you start with the easy spells like a Lumos, you could make it."

" headmaster, is this only for spells or does it work on everything magic?"

Dumbledor frowned s little and asked.

" what do you mean, Mr Quade?"

"let's say, for example, a ritual or Rune warding. If I had the intent, could I do it without the rules, or would it fail ?"

The headmaster observed the young boy, who only had a curious look on his face, and answered.

"If someone did a ritual or Rune warding. The same rules would apply to some occasions. But a lot of the time, the creator would either get no result or die. It would not have the same end results if it succeeds and does not kill the creator."

Jakob nodded and thought for a moment.

" why would it not have the same results if the emotions and intent were the same?"

" Because those two lines of magic are very complicated. If you take runes, for example. The reason we use runes is to explain the results we want. We are only humans and can think of different things while we do something. You might believe that you are only focusing on one thought, one emotion, but suddenly you might think of something else or remember something, which changes the outcome."

"Thank you, headmaster. I can now understand why you were first chosen to teach here."

Jakob gave a slight bow and walked away towards the door.

" Mr Quade," said Dumbledore and Jakob turned around.

" I hope that you found my wisdom enlightening and understand that rituals and rune warding are not suitable for first years to attempt. That is why we wait with runes until the third year and don't have rituals in our curriculum anymore. It's very hard to do right."

" No, headmaster, I just get curious sometimes, and information is key to success, right?" said the boy wearing his charming smile.

Dumbledor smiled and nodded and watched as the Slytherin boy closed the door.

That boy reminds me slot of him. I only hope he does not fall into the same trap. Thought the old headmaster, feeling s foreboding feeling.

Jakob had a skip in his walk as he went for dinner.

For the first time, said the old man, something useful. The book Emma gave me did not say anything, and I knew something was off with the ritual, thought the Slytherin boy.

Now I only have to figure out what I did wrong and what change I made so I can fix it.

As he sat down to dinner, Draco and Daphne talked about the class, and for the first time in two weeks, Jakob felt relief from his answer. He was surprised it came from someone of the light side, but it was a welcomed answer non the less.

As the school year was about to end, Jakob had walked through the different abandoned classrooms to find one that suited him the best.

He took some time and taught it through, knowing that this was something he could use to his advantage.

The room would be his, and he only needed to share it two times a week when students came, if any ever did.

He searched for a room with a teacher's office built into it but had yet to find one.

As he took a stroll on the sixth floor, he looked around the abandoned classrooms that were placed there.

When he opened some, they looked like they had been abandoned for a long time, and some even had broken windows that sucked in the wind that ruffled the boy's hair when opened. Jakob sighed and began to lose hope that he would find something he could be proud of.

The Slytherin boy looked over the signs that were shown on the doors.

6a 6b 6c 6e 6f.. he stopped.

Wait, where is classroom 6d? He walked back and read the signs on the different doors. 6f 6e 6c.

He frowned. That's weird. Jake had been here before looking for secret tunnels and secrets and had never seen that a classroom was missing before.

"It should be between these two," he said, standing in front of a blank castle wall and glancing at the 6e door to his right and then at the 6c door to his left.

"can it be that easy?" Jake asked, taking out his wand and waving it over his head, saying the charm slowly and clearly.

"Verdimillious!"

There was a green orb hovering around him, and then it brightened up the door he was now standing Infront of.

Shocked, Jakob looked at the door, which had stopped glowing and showed 6D.

Jakob saw that the wood on the door was older and had a more jet-colour than the rest. He noticed that the hinges were Rusty. Jakob had an exciting feeling and grabbed the handle.

The door was locked.

He took out his wand and sighed.

Alohomora," uttered Jakob, and a faint click was heard.

He opened the door and heard the noise the door made while whispering to himself.

Please have a teachers office please have a teachers office.

He walked in and saw darkness. No windows, no torches or candles lit up while he stood there.

"Lumos"

A room as big as the Dada classroom was shown when he looked over to the furthest back. He jumped and yelled when the light hit the spiral staircase and door.

" It Bloody has!" Jakob rushed to the staircase, ran up, and tried to open the door.

"Why is everything locked!" he yelled in frustration as his happiness was killed once again.

"Alohomora," he said while breathing out a short sigh and opened the door and saw a desk, chair and a window that looked over the quidditch pitch.

" Not bad," said Jakob as he strolled in.

He looked at the built-in bookshelf carved out from the wall and saw old jars with what he believed were some liquid that had looked like something else long ago.

There were also some books, and he took one down. Jakob held the book, so the cover was facing him, and with his wand still having the Lumos on it, he directed it to shine on the book.

The cover read: Rituals and how to safely perform them.

Jakob's eyes widen.

He returned the book, walked out to the classroom, and enhanced his Lumos.

So this was the ritual classroom, he thought, seeing that the ground had different lines and patterns carved into the stone.

" This is gonna be sick," he said with a wide smile.

Jakob opened the door to his common room, tired, sweaty and dusty.

After three hours of cleaning and deciding what interior he would need to buy to furnish the classroom and his office, he only wanted to get in bed and sleep.

He saw that his friends and the rest of the Slytherin were looking at a piece of parchment.

Snape, who saw the boy, walked over to him and observed the dusty and tired Slytherin.

"Have you had detention MR Quade or been in a fight?"

Jakob shook his head with s smile.

" No, sir, I only cleaned my new classroom."

Snape lifted an eyebrow, handed a parchment to Jakob, and then waved his wand to clean the boy up before walking away.

Jakob looked at the text that showed highest up and read.

First-year exam results.

Transfiguration, O

Charms, O

Potions, O

History of Magic, O

Defence Against the Dark Arts, O

Astronomy E

Herbology. O

Flying lessons (on broomsticks) E

Jakob looked and saw the grades he had gotten and looked satisfied.

He was not a fan of Astronomy and flying.

He liked flying on the broom, but he also did not like being tied down to only do what the teacher had told him and had been warned several times.

Jakob turned the paper over and saw that a list was written down that read.

First-year top 5 placement (first having scored highest.)

Jakob Quade. 5 O's

Hermione granger. 4 O's

Lisa Turpin 4 O's

Daphne greengrass 4 O's

Ivy potter 3 O's.

Draco and Theo walked over to him, and when Theo yanked the parchment from his hands, he smirked at Draco.

"Told you he got two E's." said the boy waving Jakob's paper at a frowning Malfoy.

Draco yanked the paper and looked like he was trying to find some mistake but then sighed and smiled.

"Well done, Jake. Your father is gonna be proud."

Jakob nodded and grabbed Draco's paper while saying.

"I don't know if I can say the same to you, Draco. How could you only get 2 O's?"

Draco took his paper back while glaring at Theo, who giggled.

"Not everyone is like you, and I will be first on next year's list."

Daphne, Tracey and pansy had walked over to them and started to discuss their own grades they had gotten.

Jakob noticed that while Daphne had been happy for Jake, she had also looked a bit disappointed not coming first and having to share a secound place.

Pansy had been proud of Jakob's grades and talked like it was her own to the rest of the Slytherins, who in turn had gotten irritated at the Black-haired girl.

Amy, who had walked past them, had asked the group how they did and when Draco showed her the paper, she smiled and walked away, giving a subtle wink at Jakob, who tried not to think about the kiss and blush.

When he finally got the chance to get back to bed, he was stopped by Diana, who walked over to him.

Mr Quade, I would like a word with you."

Jakob nodded and followed her inside the Slytherin fives room.

"Please take a seat," said the seventh year, and Jakob sat down on one of the chairs opposite from her.

"I would like to know what room you have chosen to make your clubhouse," said Diana while waving her wand and making an ink bottle, feather pen and parchment fly from one of the bookshelves and Infront of her.

She dipped the feather in the ink and looked over to Jakob.

"I have chosen classroom 6d," said the boy with s smile.

The head girl frowned.

"I have not heard of 6d before. Where is it located?"

" Just beside 6c and 6e", said Jakob hiding a smirk.

The head girl looked at him unimpressed.

" I'm not joking. It's there. I was there for three hours today and cleaned it up.

" Whatever," she said, writing down the information.

She then put the parchment and quill to the side and looked firmly at Jake.

" you might not like the next thing I'm going to say," Diana said, and now it was Jakobs turn to frown.

The queen sighed and leaned back into her throne-like seat.

" We had a few that applied to the position, but there was only one that had the grades to do a good job," told Diana using air quotes When saying a good job.

Jakob, now looking a bit worried, sat straighter in his seat.

Diana observed him for a few seconds before saying.

" You are going to have to work with that mudblood Granger."

Jakob looked at his queen, shocked.

"I know that this might offend you and that you might wish to say something about this, but Hayden and I have made a decision, and this is final."

Jakob nodded and had to really focus, not to smile. He would have the time to meet with Granger twice weekly, which would be perfectly normal.

" I won't lie and say that I'm happy about this decision, but if it's already decided, I don't see any reason to say anything else. I will only have to spend twice s week with the mudblood, right?"

He asked, sounding disappointed, and he saw a slight relief in the queen's eyes, knowing that he would not make a scene.

" Yes, and like I said, see this as an opportunity Mr Quade and make the best of the situation. Even if it can be challenging."

Jakob nodded and got the parchment of the club, and what it entailed and in the top right, Stood two names.

Club leaders: Jakob Quade and Hermione Granger.

"might I ask something that I have no business in asking?"

Diana observed the Quade heir for a moment.

"In a normal circumstance, I would have said no, but seeing as you took the news better than I hoped, I will allow it, but don't expect me to answer it."

Jakob gave a slight nod and continued.

"Now that your time at Hogwarts is coming to an end. Who will take over the throne?"

Diana gave him a smirk and said.

"oh, are you hoping for someone special to take over or are you just curious?"

Jakob was about to give some answer, a little stunned that she knew what he meant, but she held up a hand still with that smirk on her lips.

"You don't have to lie to me, Mr Quade. Even if I were blind and could not see how you look at miss Frome and how she looks back, I would still have my ears. I hear how she talks about you. Having been her friend a long time, I have never heard her talk about someone younger than her in that way."

Jakob gulped and could not hide the blush creeping up his cheeks.

"and what way is she talking about me?"

"that," Diana said, leaning back.

"Is something you, yourself, must look into."

Jakob nodded, getting the hint that he was done and turned around to open the door. But then he turned around.

"Why did you tell me this, my queen?"

Diana took a moment before answering, enjoying the reaction she got.

"You have done quite some things this year, Mr Quade, you have helped Slytherin, and you made almost the whole school rebel. I am a little disappointed that I graduate tomorrow and can't see what you accomplish next.

So about the information, see it as a reward for making this year a little more interesting."

As Jakob turned to leave, he heard The Queen's last words.

"Oh, and Quade, best to keep this little secret between you and me. I fear what Amy would do if she knew what I just told you."

Jakob opened the door and walked out, not catching the satisfied smirk the queen was wearing. Or that he never got the answer to his question.

That evening when he was in his dorm with pansy reading a book, he heard her almost mumbling at her desk.

" Will we see each other during the summer?"

Jakob lowered his book and glanced at the girl writing on parchment.

" we can if you want to, pansy, but-"

"I want to." she interrupted him."

Jakob observed the girl who put away the quill and parchment and walked over to him.

" I just… two months is pretty long, don't you think.

Jakob nodded slowly, trying to figure out what was happening.

"My family and I are going on a trip to Egypt to watch the Pyramids and other stuff. We will be gone for 2weeks, and I thought you might want to come along?"

Jakob nodded and thought. I would like to see the ancient magics that Egypt are famous for, but this is not the pansy I know. She is to... nice? Is this the ritual or something else?

"So you will come with us?" pansy asked, trying to not sound happy about it but failing.

"Sure, I can come with you, but I have other things to do, so I hope it won't interfere. Are you sure you would not like to take Daphne, Tracey, or Draco instead?

Pansy sat down on her bed and frowned a little.

" I thought to bring Draco with me, but he would not like it. I just pictured him standing and looking bored."

Jakob had the same picture in his own mind.

" And I don't know. I just think you are fun to hang around."

Jakob gave the girl a slight smile.

" Let me talk with my father when I get home. He will get in touch with yours and make plans."

Pansy beamed and got into bed.

" Good night Jakob"

" Goodnight, Pansy"

The last feast had arrived, and while the Slytherin sat and ate.

Dumbledore walked to the podium and cleared his throat, silent the great hall.

"This year has been exciting and a little turbulent, if I may say so myself. But alas, as with everything, it has come to an end. I want to thank the head boy and girl for the outstanding handling, and I look forward to seeing what next year brings."

Dumbledor examined Jakob, and the Slytherin boy looked at his plate with a bored expression.

" And lastly, I want to thank the students who graduate, and I hope to see you shortly."

The feast continued, and the meals consumed were soon replaced by dessert.

Jakob, who was about to take s big bite of the treacle tart accidentally, looked over to the Gryffindor table and saw that ivy Potter held the same position as him, having a big slice herself Infront of her mouth.

They locked eyes, and the potter twin, with a glare, took a large spoon and started to eat like she was Ron Weasley.

With a small bit of disappointment and disgust, Jakob looked down and lowered his spoon and switched it out for some apple tart.

When they all were full, the headmaster rose again.

" And now, my students, the time that you have been waiting for. We will see who won the house cup. In fourth place, we have Ravenclaw with 32 points."

They were clapping from the tables, and the Ravenclaws looked s bit ashamed.

" In third place, we have Slytherin with 44 points," said the headmaster, and all clapped. The Slytherin, however, was not looking so disappointed.

"in second place, we have Gryffindor with 49 points. "

all, except Slytherin, were clapping.

"And for the first time in over 200 years, I am proud to say that the winner of this year's house cup with 422 points is Hufflepuff!"

The Hufflepuffs were cheering, heard from the Gryffindors who supported the badgers, and everyone clapped.

The Hufflepuff, who never believed they would win, screamed happily and Hugged each other While chanting.

"Hufflepuff! Hufflepuff!"

The banners turned yellow, and the crest of Hufflepuff appeared.

Jakob did not know this. But Hufflepuff's party that evening would go down in history as the most incredible party they ever had.

The day after, Jakob and his friends stood at the platform, ready to say goodbye to each other.

Daphne and Tracey made the rest of them promise to write, and when they left, Theo, Draco, Jakob, pansy, Crabbe and Goyle were left.

The two boys saw their parents wave them over, and they quickly said goodbye, grabbing their luggage.

Jakob saw that his father and sister stood and talked with the Malfoys. He and Draco grabbed their luggage and prepared to walk over there.

Draco hugged Pansy quickly and then talked a little with Theo while pansy proceeded to Hug Jakob.

" Promise you to ask and write a letter when you know," she whispered.

Jakob hugged her back.

"I will but don't get your hopes up to much. It might not work."

They let go, and the two boys left to greet their parents.

" I understand that you received the highest grades in your year."

Said Thomas and ruffled his son's head.

Lucius was not as pleased as Thomas.

"Why can I not say the same to you, Draco?"

Draco tried to smile.

" Father, I promise to do better next year." Said Draco and gave his mother a worried glance, fearing what would happen when they got home.

"See that you do, or I might just motivate you to study harder. Now come along. Dobby!" Said the glaring blonde man and turned around.

The house elf popped into existence and took Draco's bags, and they said their goodbyes.

As the Malfoy disappeared, Jakob got a big hug from his sister, and before they went back home, he thought to himself.

There is so much to do and so little time to do it.

Year one ended.

Authors note: Well, one year done, but the story has just taken form.

Hopefully, you will see the next chapter tomorrow, but if I don't get the time to edit, you will have to wait one more day.

I wanted to quickly clear. It might seem that Pansy is falling for Jakob instead of Draco, but this is not the case. The blood ritual did something, and you will all know what in year two. that does not say she does not care about him or feel like being apart is hard. but in her mind, she still has a crush on the blonde boy. I want to say that some might find it weird that he talked to Dumbledor, the man he loath in dada. In this universe, rituals are not forbidden magic. Blood rituals are, but normal ones that you will witness more in the future are perfectly fine. They had the class at Hogwarts, but because it was too dangerous, they chose to remove it. But if Jakob had taken the study elsewhere and was about to do a Ritual of weather, for example, he would be able to do it (with the ministry's approval) in Diagon alley if he chose.

Ps: next chapter will be about the summer break, and it might be two chapters or one longer one. But then starts year two!
