Chapter 12 : Finally Someone Worthy

It took Legoshi about 10 minutes to get to the planet that Bill compared to their home world. Legoshi once more manifest his staff and studied this planet's past and populace.
"So this world is inhabited by both humans and many different creatures under the collective nomenclature monsters. These humans and monsters seem to be in a constant struggle for life and supremacy which would explain the tempered part. The primary weapon for humans is this hero association. Hmm... there does not appear to be any positive Ki among the monster population."
Legoshi studies the human population in greater detail for individuals that would interest him. considering that the hero association is full of people that are willing to fight and kill for their goals and ambitions even at the chance of death made the study much more narrowed and easier/quicker.
"Ok so it is broken up into different ranks starting with C at the bottom of the listings and S at the top. Let's start with C... hmm 1...2... just two huh? And out of a couple hundred is pretty disappointing. Ok let's take a look at B... No one...Ok let's look at A. let's see... no one again? especially the #1 in that rank... what a messed up personality he has. Lastly S, hmm...1,... she has to much narcissism and childish behavior so no, 2, 3, 4, that's a gross and disturbing power so no, pretty much a full metal man so a Ki test won't work so no *sigh* and he seemed like a decent enough mortal, fiv... nvm he seems to tied down by his little sister."
Legoshi sat back up while still in orbit as he de-manifested his staff. He then created 5 clones of himself with data pads in their hands and made a data pad for himself as he spread to the different cities to observe in secret each potential candidate.
one of the clones went off to observe the number one hero that went by the alias Blast. Legoshi soon learned of Blast's primary power when he saw him teleport to different places and even dimensions, but being a deity has its perks as he was able to follow him by simply teleporting with him using the instantaneous movement technique he acquired by observing Gosha and the other supreme kais. While blast fit his requirements he noticed that Blast's activities were hunting down these cubes or avatars of a god he was chasing. Legoshi believed that Blast would not trust him since he is also a god and would probably be a waste of time especially since what he would ask of him would lead Blast to believe he was or associated with the god he was hunting so Blast ended up as a dead end.
"Guess circumstances also play a part in finding a candidate I guess." Legoshi thinks to himself before dissipating the clone following Blast.
Another clone followed a old man that went by the alias Bang Silver Fang. Bang was a martial arts master, by mortal standards, with his own dojo so he had that going for him at least. Legoshi saw Bang kill a group of monsters threatening school children so he had the will and ability to kill as well. He also showed that he was more focused than his collogues when it came to the purpose of being a "hero" which meant he also respected life and took his job seriously. Legoshi decided to cast a illusion over his clone as a human martial arts master that was around bangs age. Legoshi visited Bang's dojo in his disguised self and approached him when his class was over.
" You certainly keep your self busy and well for one of the silver haired generation. Tell me Bang, what keeps you being a master and not fully committed to being a hero?" Legoshi asked.
"I don't believe I have seen you around before and yet you seem familiar with me. Either you are a decent judge of character or are scouting for some purpose. I must say that is also a rather odd and upfront question to ask a stranger. May I have your name at least?" Bang politely yet cautiously asked.
"My name is Legoshi and you could say I am a foreigner to these cities. You are a well known hero and martial artist and that information is public so it is not hard to make a few assumptions based on that and face values... although your demeanor also expresses you."
"I see you are a cryptic as well Ha! Well I guess age will do that to you. As for your question, I have had my troubles with teaching disciples and had one that... well I guess you can say has fallen. I am also old and want future generations to learn my techniques and life lessons."
"I see. A simple yet noble enough goal. Can I ask you a hypothetical then?"
"I don't see why not."
"If you no longer had to worry about age and could continue both your teaching and hero work at the cost of having other... more destructive obligations would you take it?"
"I was with you until that last part. What do you mean by destructive obligations? that part seemed out of the blue."
"I mean if you had to kill, not the innocent, but a lot more than what you are used to but in exchange could live a lot longer to continue what you are doing now would you take it?"
"In my younger days I probably would have said yes but I am a bit more peace loving than that even though I still kill monsters. Eventually I will just want to take a nap if I had to live a lot longer than what is left in me so I would probably refuse."
"*sigh* I guess that is another swing and a miss" Legoshi thought to himself.
"You're a good man Bang. Hope you find your better disciples." He said with a wave bye.
"That's all you wanted to talk about?" Bang asked with a confused tilt of his head.
"Yep! take care of yourself." Legoshi dismissed as he disappeared out of the dojo.
Legoshi dissipated this clone once he was out of eye sight.
The next 2 S class heroes he observed were Atomic Samurai and Zombie man. Legoshi cut his observation on Atomic Samurai short when he came to the conclusion that he will probably get a similar answer from him that he got from Bang. Zombie man turned out to be a little to sadistic when he killed for his liking and was noticeable nihilistic, even though he cared for human life... so that was another bust.
The first C class hero he observed was a human by the name of Mumen Rider. He fit the bill in terms of respecting life and being merciful, but what the man painfully lacked was the unwillingness and inability to kill which unfortunately crossed him off as a candidate, but at least he was a respectable person in Legoshi's eyes.
The last Hero that Legoshi observed was a bald hero wearing a yellow one piece jumpsuit, red gloves and boots, and a white cape. This hero was called Saitama, though his hero named was a bit insulting and probably was not his idea. Legoshi found Saitama to be the most interesting of the possible candidates even though to everyone else, except the android hero Genos and probably Bang, he is the most uninteresting hero out of all of them. His notes on Saitama are as follows.
Saitama:
A man that does hero work as a hobby. He is very strong physically and spiritually as a mortal, but does not seem to have any experience with his own Ki and is thus greatly limiting his true potential... will look into fixing that. Seems to have lost his emotions due to fights no longer challenging him to the point that his boredom has eroded him. I can use the beginning offer of giving him the challenge he is desperately looking for as a means to interest him to my job offer and test.
Check: Able to show mercy?: I have seen Saitama show restraint in the humans and monsters that insult and attack him and seems to never really hold onto any grudges... except against King for beating him in a video game?
Check: Respects life?: While his consideration for collateral damage leaves a lot to be desired, will have to work on that, he does show his monster enemies that he sees them as individuals... even though he often kills them after asking them to apologize, but never disrespects his opponents and never goes out of his way to kill them without probable cause. He also shows consideration and help to the weak.
Check: Able to take life?: Is more than able to kill and has shown willingness to kill as well as I have seen him effortlessly kill monsters of all shapes and sizes with just one punch... hmmmm maybe I should offer to give that as an idea for a hero name... "One Punch Man"... maybe not the best but should still be better than "Caped Baldy", that's just insulting!
Conclusion: He meets my requirements for God of Destruction Candidate. Proceed by challenging him to a friendly but intense fight.
Legoshi decided to wait for the best opportunity to offer him his deal and challenge as he noticed that Saitama could be rather whimsical and nonchalant normally even though he also looked bored all the time. Legoshi decided to wait when his issue with having no challengers worthy of him came up to ask him. Legoshi continued to follow Saitama without being noticed as he watched him engage a alien ship. The alien conqueror Boros who claimed to have traveled across the universe.
"I don't remember ever hearing about him. If what he said is true then it must have happened during my angel training but I highly doubt that because i have encountered stronger mortals in this universe than him... I guess he just thinks highly of himself." Legoshi thinks and shrugs to himself.
Legoshi got a better look at Saitama's fighting style as Boros managed to survive longer than any of his previous "opponents" and saw that while Saitama basically had no real martial arts training, styles, or techniques, he noted that Saitama was calm and collected in a fight... albeit probably because he was still bored.
The fight concluded with Saitama killing Boros with a "Serious punch" and it seemed like only Genos was the only hero to guess what he did. Based on their growing friendship Legoshi though that he might add that Genos could go with him if he accepted and passed his test, although he would have to "upgrade" Genos' metal materials and power source so he could live as long as a destroyer.
things had gone quiet for about a week after the invasion before a large big being destroyed most of another city. Saitama rushed in and easily killed it with one punch. Legoshi got close enough for him to hear Saitama.
"I'm back to one punch?!...DAAAAAAAAAAAMNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTT!" Saitama screamed in despair.
Legoshi pounced on this opportunity and walked from behind a mound of exploded flesh and revealed himself. He walked next to Saitama, who was on all fours pounding the ground.
"That is some nice work Saitama! And just with one punch too? I guess your hero name should be "One Punch Man"... I know not the best but is probably than "Caped Baldy"." Legoshi said with a casual smile while looking forward.
Saitama looked to his left and noticed a wolfman in robes with a halo around his head. A part of Saitama wanted to think this was a monster, but decided to not act until provoked... besides he kind of likes the hero name. Saitama's usually monotone and bored expression returned to him as he addressed the new guest.
"Kind of like the name actually. And who are you?"
Legoshi offered a hand up.
"I'm Legoshi and we can go over the specifics later. Let's just say that I am looking to employ someone for a life long career much like your hero work... although it looks like you are not enjoying your caliber of opponents."
"I mostly just do this as a hobby and not really looking for other work, but yeah I have been actually quite pissed off at the lack of a challenge for years now. Were you looking to hire me for something?"
"Maybe. It's not like I'm forcing anything or will be down in the dumps if you refuse, but it will unfortunately cost me more potential time, but that isn't you problem to deal with or worry about... So you have been suffering from this kind of boredom for years now right?"
"Yep but I manage I guess."
It was at this point Genos joined them.
"Great job as ever master... Who is this with you?"
"Some guy named Legoshi offering me a job. He was asking about my thoughts on my opponents. He did give me a good suggestion on a hero name..."One Punch Man". It's simple and fits me... pretty much to a T." Saitama added with some melancholy at the end.
"That is a excellent suggestion... I will look into getting the word out and inform the association to start referring you by that hero name."
"Thanks but you don't need to do that right now."
"Of course master. Legoshi is it? What is this job offer you have for Saitama? Did you also figure out his greatness?"
"I did actually! probably better than pretty much everyone except you and Bang. And before I get to my offer I would like to propose a challenge to you Saitama." Legoshi answered while turning back to Saitama.
"A challenge? What kind?"
"If I can beat you in a fight would you consider my job offer?"
Saitama was a little stumped by this but decided to be cautious because the wolfman was being nice and respectful.
"Are you sure you want to do that? I could seriously hurt you by accident."
"I would actually welcome that. I'll tell you what, let me make the first attack on you and if I can make you bleed will you fight me?"
Saitama looked a little more relaxed at this.
"I suppose I could do that. My work here is done so I got time, but not too long. there is a sale going on tomorrow and I don't want to miss it."
"He thinks it will take that long to make him bleed? Wow... He is in a worse case of boredom than I thought." Legoshi thinks to himself.
"I'm going to keep this part as non hostile as possible as to express my intentions. Now could you look down for me?"
"Okay what fo..." Saitama was about to ask.
He felt a sharp pain coming from his hand and suddenly noticed that Legoshi was a foot from his face. Saitama looked down to his hand and saw that his glove was remove and blood was dripping from his hand as Legoshi had pierced his hand with his right index nail a inch deep into his palm. Saitama didn't even see Legoshi move or remove his glove that he was now holding underneath Saitama's hand.
Genos saw Saitama's hand bleeding and was about to attack but was stopped when Saitama held his other hand up.
"It's been three years since I have seen my own blood. heh...haha...I think this could be fun." Saitama chuckled.
Legoshi healed Saitama's hand using Ki, gave Saitama his glove back and walked back a couple feet.
"Do you feel comfortable fighting me now?"
Saitama's face suddenly got serious with a small smile on his face.
"Yes. Now don't disappoint me or I'll give your business a bad review." Saitama attempted at a bad joke."
"Before we begin, we should probably choose a different location for this fight... given your tendency to cause massive collateral damage. Your friend can watch the fight from this projection."
Legoshi summoned his staff and generated a sphere projection of both Saitama and Legoshi as if their were being filmed right now. Legoshi let go of the staff and let it float next to Genos and stay there.
"Why can't Genos come?"
"Collateral damage, him being the potential collateral damage in the fight, that and my staff will allow him to actually see what is going on."
Genos wanted to object but found that he could not because Legoshi had a point that he could not keep track of Saitama when he fought seriously and his master did cause a lot of damage with his fights.
"Is that alright with you master?"
"Sure. I guess he does have a point. Where are you thinking we should fight?"
Legoshi used telekinesis to spin the world until it was night time and he caused all the lights in the nearby cities to explode. He then pointed to a far distant light and cloud like object in the sky.
"In the galaxy you would call Andromeda. Don't worry about the travel time. I can take us there in less than 10 seconds. If you suffer from motion sickness I can just teleport us there."
Saitama was not even fazed by the display, but was getting a little more excited for the fight and his hopes were getting higher.
"I don't suffer from motion sickness so you can do what you want to get us there."
"Good! now stand within 5 feet of me."
"Okay... Like this?"
"Yep."
Saitama and Legoshi vanished in a column of light that shot towards Andromeda and a blistering speed. True to his word, Legoshi landed them gently on a garden world in 6 seconds flat.
"There is no intelligent life in this section of the galaxy so feel free to go all out. We can start when ever you are ready. Since I had the first move last time you can start us off."
Legoshi took off the top of his robes and shoes and had them manifest into a pocket dimension using his angelic powers. Legoshi put his left hand behind his back and relaxed it. He turned to the side and turned his head to face Saitama with his right arm hanging loosely in front of him like he was catching a low ball in a friendly game of catch.
Saitama took Legoshi up on the offer and decided to test his speed against Legoshi's.
"Consecutive normal punches." Saitama casually stated while making it like he was punching multiple times at once.
Legoshi saw the attack as a serious of practice jabs and not as a flurry of blows that every other hero would have seen it... although Genos is benefiting from the staff as he could see what his master's punches really looked like. Legoshi simply held out his right pinky and blocked every punch with the same deadpan expression that Saitama is used to give to his enemies. Legoshi thought that showing the same kind of boredom to Saitama would irritate him and cause him to gradually fight harder and harder. Seeing that he was not even fazing Legoshi Saitama decided it was safe to take it more seriously. Saitama changed his expression to a serious one as he pulled back his fist.
"Serious series!: Serious Punch!"
The clouds across the garden world parted as Saitama's serious punch made contact with Legoshi's pinky. Saitama saw that Legoshi and his pinky did not budge an inch from the same attack that killed Boros. He also saw that Legoshi was giving him the same expression that he gave Boros on his ship. (The memed "Okay" face)
" I know that you are not used to your opponents meeting your expectations but you can try a little harder than that." Legoshi calmly stated.
"I might fight harder if you fought back you know." Saitama retorted back with some emotion.
Saitama was now getting energized from finally having a opponent that could give him a challenge.
"I guess your right." Legoshi admitted.
"I guess he won't fight with his full potential unless I cause him pain... *sigh*" Legoshi thinks to himself.
Legoshi decided to give Saitama a simple gut punch. Considering what he walked unscathed from Legoshi calculated how strong he would have to hit Saitama to break something but not kill him.
Saitama could not react in time as Legoshi's half balled fist smashed into his gut with such force that he was sent flying through the planet's moon and through the cores of 5 gas giants, utterly vaporizing them until his flight was finally stopped when he smashed into a neutron star that managed to survive the impact, but not before blowing off a third of its mass into space. Legoshi sat next to the 500 meter hole next to Saitama.
"Was that to soft for you?" Legoshi chuckled a little bit at Saitama's expense.
Legoshi hoped he did not overestimate Saitama's endurance and caused him enough damage that he could not fight back. Legoshi saw Saitama stand up with a little difficult. He coughed into his hand now since he was naked and saw blood. Legoshi saw his pupils disappear and his eyes glow a bit as he looked directly at him.
Saitama flew out of pit from a mighty jump at Legoshi. Legoshi blocked the punch with his pointer finger as the rest of the neutron star was blown apart from the force of the impact. the force of the punch also destroyed the nearest yellow star that was a few light years away. Even though he was still bleeding from the mouth Saitama's flared to life and was growing exponentially as it felt like he was trying to match him or at least the force he was receiving. Legoshi continued to block Saitama's punches and occasional kicks as the distance they traveled throughout their fight grew and grew. Legoshi was impressed with Saitama's endurance and tenacity as he continued to fight harder and harder even with a couple of broken ribs.
Legoshi noted that his "Serious Series" was evolving in magnitude as a single punch from his serious series serious consecutive punches could destroy a star. Legoshi decided to respect and reward Saitama's effort by fighting back with the same level of force that he was giving. The length of time between each distance increase began decreasing until they were jumping across one edge of Andromeda to the other in less than a minute, destroying every star system along the way. It went like this for about 5 minutes before Legoshi decided to stop holding back so much and make good on his end because it looked like Saitama might push himself to death with his injuries.
"This was fun Saitama and you have impressed me with your potential, but let's end it here ok?" Legoshi calmly stated.
Legoshi decided to use the level of power one would need to amuse a destroyer and vanished behind Saitama. with one motion with his hands, he grabbed Saitama's right arm and snapped it at the elbow. He then twisted Saitama's left in a unnatural angle that made it look like a twizzler at the shoulder. Lastly, he smashed in both his kneecaps with his right elbow. This one-sided exchange was taking place on a house sized piece of space dust inside a blackhole at the center of Andromeda. Saitama crumpled to the floor and started to breath heavily as the adrenaline began to wear off. Surprising, he did not yell or scream even then any normal mortal probably would have passed out from the pain by now.
Legoshi sat on a raised rock a couple feet away from Saitama.
"Do you concede?" Legoshi asked with some concern.
"Yep... I'm good... but...Damn!... What a Fight!" Saitama managed to say in-between deep breaths.
"Wait... How am I breathing in space?"
"Because I am creating and contain oxygen around us so you can breath. Also I think we made quite the mess of Andromeda... considering half of it is gone in 5 minutes. Not bad if I do say so myself... Here let me help you with your wounds now.."
Legoshi used his Ki and a white aura of power covered Saitama like a blanket that began to rapid heal and put back together his broken body. In a matter of seconds, Saitama felt even better than he did before the fight as his body has learned from the experience and much more of his potential is now open to him. Saitama quickly got back up and saw that he was wearing his hero outfit again.
"Wow.. now I don't have to pay for a new outfit. thanks." Saitama said as he returned to his normal demeanor... but with a notable amount of less boredom in it.
"Your Welcome. Now that I have won our fight will you consider my offer now?"
"O almost forgot about that. So what did want to offer me?"
"Just before that let me re-introduce myself with my full title. I'm Legoshi, deity and Angel in reserve. I am also the former God of destruction for this universe... universe 13 of 13 total universes... that is not a depiction of any category that would say this universe is last in anything but simple order. I am currently looking for my replacement as this universes God of Destruction and you have met all of my qualifications to take my test. Now if you are worried this might impede your hero work or daily life then let me reassure you that there is no real time limit to the offer. Will you consider taking my test?"
"Sure, but what does the job of destroyer offer? I might have refused but since you said it had no limit then I might be interested when I can't fight anymore... o wait that sounds bad... there is an afterlife right?"
"Yes there is."
"Good then I can start then, but what does it offer?"
Legoshi strokes his chin in a thinking posture.
"Well it offers increased longevity by hundreds of millions of years. You will get way more powerful with a mentor/attendant who will be more than a match for you that will train you in martial arts and the use of your Ki. While it may not directly pay like one of your normal professions on your planet, that does not really matter for a god since he can get whatever you want to eat, drink, wear, or have as entertainment... basically when it comes to such needs and wants the job cuts out the middle man of money and gives it to you and even if you want to follow the rules of planets you visit your teacher/attendant can just manifest the funds you need like this."
Legoshi summons his staff back to him and materializes a pile of millions of yen in front of Saitama.
"Wow those are some great benefits! So what does the job entail or is it self explanatory?"
"It kind of is but basically your job would be to cull the universe of useless/lifeless planets, stars, and galaxies along with any life that threatens other life from existing... kind of like your current hero work when it comes to monsters threatening human life."
"So... like hero work but with janitor duties to?"
"Exactly!... just on a universal scale of course, but the hours are great since you can start and end each work "day" when ever you want... within reason of course... like don't sleep for decades or centuries in-between work "days"."
"You sound like you had someone in mind when you said that."
"I did.. Beerus, the God of destruction of universe 7 likes to sleep for that long in between his duties which reflects poorly on him... but not enough to get him removed... it would take a much bigger violation of cosmic law for him to be removed... like destroying his hole universe or someone else's universe."
"okay... so what is this test you had for me?"
Legoshi creates a ball of Hakai in his left hand.
"I want you to place your hand in the palm of mine and take in this ball of energy into yourself. The test is for you to force that energy back into a ball in your hand. This test will be extremely painful for your body, mind, and soul but there will be no lasting side effects."
"Okay...like this?" Saitama says as he places his right hand into Legoshi's left.
"Yep. Now try to imagine all the pain and the other sensations you will feel from this being concentrated into your hand. After that, then try to imagine it puffing out like a balloon being blown up in your palm... Did you get that?"
"I think so... Guess I'll just wing it when the time comes."
"Are you ready?"
"Yep."
Legoshi lets the ball of Hakai dissolve into Saitama while he acts as the safety net for him. Saitama managed to keep his footing for almost a minute before falling to his hands and knees as his entire being was set ablaze. Unlike the others Legoshi has tested, Saitama did not scream or yell but was certainly breathing and sweating heavily.

Legoshi watched as Saitama struggled in different levels of success over time as he shakily stood up and fell multiple time. He could see him changing his breathing and concentration spots. After 4 minutes he could see something break in Saitama as he went still for a moment before his breathing turned into angry grunts. His eyes were completely white again as he tried standing up again. His grunting became angrier and angrier along with get louder and louder. Saitama managed to stand all the way after about 2 minutes of this. His grunts became shouts as he death glared his own right hand that eventually led to one continuous shout.
What happened next genuine amazed and excited Legoshi as a purple began to form in Saitama's hand and after another minute he had successfully reformed the ball of Hakai into his hand right hand. Saitama's breathing slowed as his eyes focused back in his full surroundings as he looked at the ball of Hakai in his own hand. He saw that Legoshi was no longer holding his hand and had a genuine amazed look on his face.
Song ends.
Once Legoshi saw that Saitama was looking at him he started to clap with vigorous applause at Saitama.
"How does it feel to take your very first step into divinity? I have seen the people I've given that test to scream in agony and vomit blood after it but actually succeeded! You and any god should be impressed by what you have done just now. Now it's not going to really wow them or have them jaw dropped but they will have to show you some respect from this."
"I'll will admit that was even harder than our fight but was doing that so great? I mean... it's just a ball of energy. Nothing looks all that great about it except it hurts like multiple hells." He says while looking back at the ball he is still holding.
"Considering that ball can destroy the body, mind, and soul of just about anything in the universe and the only way to resist it is to be stronger that the user or be a destroyer or angel yourself should say something about it. So I would still be proud if I were you."
"Well... I guess it did feel great doing it. Even though it hurt worse than you breaking my bones I had never felt so alive before... ironic considering what you said this energy does."
"Well I'm glad you feel that way. You can keep it and use it however you want, but I would not let it touch the ground or else your planet and everyone on it will be erased from existence."
"I don't think I want to be responsible for that so you take it back." He says while handing the ball of Hakai back.
Legoshi dissolves the ball and taps his staff on Saitama, healing him of any stress or exhaustion his body experienced during the test.
"Does this mean I'm a god now?"
"No. It means you have the potential to become one. All you really need now is training and practice with that Ki you were just holding and learn how to make it yourself. When you can do that on command and do it instantly then you will be a God of Destruction. What you are now is a Destroyer Candidate if and when you decide to take the job."
"I see so Like going over orientation and job training then I become a Destroyer."
"When that part ends depends on your own progress with harnessing that energy you saw. That energy is called Hakai btw."
"So about the job... You said I can take it after I'm dead right?"
"Yes you can. Once you go to the after life and find the receptionist at the front desk ask her for Bill. Tell her you are wait on me... Legoshi to pick you up... She will now what that means. Tell Bill the same thing and he should get the point to let you wait there for me."
"Bill?"
"He is the one that judges the mortal souls of the universe and which afterlife they go to... also he can be a bit insufferable at times, but he gets his job done at least. He will be the giant tiger man surrounded by desks."
"Got it."
"I suppose I should give you a reward like I did the others then... hmmm.. A I got it."
Legoshi takes his staff and manifests a device with a large button on it and a simple clear disk impeded into it.
"This will allow you to call me where ever in the multiverse I am I you need help or want to spare. I also have an idea on how to make your future fights not end in just one punch."
Legoshi handed over the device before manifesting another device into his hand. This device looked like a high tech bracelet with a dial on the front of it that displayed a percentage number ranging from 0 to 100. the dial had a rotating piece on the outside of it that can be turned to change the number.
"This will suppress your Ki and thus your strength so that you don't end up killing your enemies immediately. You can change how strong the suppression is. 0% means your only as strong as a normal human and 100% means there is no restriction on your power at all. I can't help with your durability problem without making your hero work suffer so this is the best I can do to make your fights last longer. Don't worry about it breaking since I made it myself so it would take an Angel's level of power to break it." He says as he hands the bracelet over to Saitama.
"Wow... that's actually really nice!" Saitama says as he puts the bracelet on and puts the communicator in a pocket.
"So Saitama. Do you accept the job offer?" He says will holding out his hand.
Saitama takes it and shakes it.
"You bet!"
"Great! Then I will see you when ever or in about 100 years. Okay now stand 5 feet from me again."
Saitama does so.
"Is it alright to leave the galaxy like this?" Saitama asks.
"No worlds with life on them were actually destroyed in our exchange so it will be fine."
"Ok."
Legoshi traveled back to Saitama's home world and dropped him off there after informing him that Genos could join him when he becomes candidate. Legoshi now had some time off now, but knew that he should probably cover for Gouhin for that time. He eventually decided to visit the two places he was at earlier. The planet with the guild called Fairy Tail and challenge them like he said he would and visit Loona since he didn't have time to give her the reward she actually wanted.
Legoshi met up with Fairy Tail on EarthLand and challenged them all to fight him at once. The fight was intense for Fairy Tail but really uneventful for Legoshi if he was being honest. After the fight he decided to get some food recipes from the inhabitants before leaving the planet. He made his way back to the volcanic world that the inhabitants called Hell.
He knocked on the door of I.M.P Headquarters and saw that no one was there. Legoshi decided to just wait inside their office on one of their couches. It had been a full day since he was last here so he just thought that they were probably on a job. It was a couple of hours before Blitz, Moxxie, Millie, and Loona returned. They were all surprised that the wolfman/god that had loaded them up was back already. Loona was the only one that was really happy about this while the others were just confused but curious.
"What are you doing back here? Do you have another deal for us or do you actually need someone killed... not sure we can kill other gods though." Blitz stated.
"No nothing like that. I'm just here to give Loona the reward I actually wanted to give her before I was pulled aside by "business."
Loona could not help but have her tail start wagging at this news.
"What do you mean by that... isn't not dating is it because that shit is off limits!" Blitz threatened.
"Not many would threaten a God like that Blitz, but I am impressed by what you would call "your balls" for saying that, but that is not why I am hear."
Legoshi honestly didn't even know what dating was but knew that was not why he was here.
Loona's tail stopped wagging at the sound of that, but stood back up as she stared angerly at Blitz.
"You don't get to decide who I like in that way Da... Blitz!" She shouted.
Blitz's eyes sparkled for a moment when she almost called him dad but quickly faded back to normal when she called him Blitz.
"Okay?.. so if that was not the reward then what was it then?" Blitz asked.
Moxxie and Millie decided to do their own thing like a couple since this clearly did not involve them.
Legoshi walked up to Loona and gave her the same kind of communication device that he gave Saitama before pulling her in for a deep hug. He motioned that Blitz can join in on the hug to. Both Loona and Blitz were greatly confused by this. Blitz thought this was a weird sex thing at first before he the impression this was more of a cuddly, friendly, bonding moment kind of thing and so decided to join in. He also noticed how ripped Legoshi was underneath his robes.
"Damn! how much do you press everyday? Whole planets?!"
"More like stars at this point but yes... I have weights that change their weight based on the user. Mine is maxed out at neutron star and black hole weight so I don't really use them anymore." Legoshi stated matter of factly.
"You can motorboat those pecks and grind meat on those abs... wait... what's the policy of sexual harassment when it comes to gods?"
"I don't know what any of those terms mean Blitz?"
"Ok so super virgin policy... sh$%."
Blitz was starting to sound a lot like Bill now.
"So why are you hugging me then?!.. not not that I don't enjoy this, but then if it was not dating then why did you kiss my forehead yesterday?"
"I guess it was a spur of the moment thing based on what I knew about you at the time when researching for what to best give all of you? Also I know that forehead kissing was a sign of politeness and friendship in some places of the universe."
Legoshi looked down at Loona with caring eyes that made Loona blush, nervous, and her tail wag again.
"You looked like you could really use a friend."
The way that Legoshi said it made Loona relax a bit in his arms as he communicated clearly what he meant and was in no way trying to mess with or manipulate her feelings. She knew now that he knew that she was lonely and could probably use a friend.
"I am still busy with picking up some slack with my former master doing my former destroyer work, but I have time to hang out with you for the day and a few days of the week and after 100 years that position will be filled since I found someone who passed my test and took the job on the condition that he would do so when he died."
Legoshi held her and Blitz a little tighter before letting go a few seconds after.
"Harder dadd.. o it's over...So you want to be Loona's friend?... and not her Boyfriend?"
"I don't know what that term means Blitz."
" Of course you don't super virgin who is incredibly hot and innocent." Blitz whispers to himself.
"Well then I see no problems with that, but what was that device you gave her?"
both Loona and Blitz looked down at what she is holding.
"That is a device that can call me anywhere in the universe from anywhere in the universe. I guess you could say it's like my phone number as you would put it."
"So... I could call you anytime I wanted to hang out with you or vise versa?"
"Yep... and to be honest I could probably use some friends to. My job requires me to move around a lot and while I meet many people I don't really get to know them... If you know what I mean."
"Yeah I get it. So... did you want to hang out with me now?"
"Sure I do... Beats running about destroying stuff and sometimes feeling bad about doing it before having to cope with it by reminding myself the good it's doing for creation" He says before nervously laughing.
While Loona dose not understand the circumstances that Legoshi mentioned since it was on a scale she could hardly imagine and for reasons hard to picture, she understood that nervous laughter at the end better than anyone else in I.M.P. It was the kind of laughter that said "Please don't like I'm offensively weird, dorky, lame, or desperate to be relatable or understandable.
Loona and Legoshi spent the day at an arcade and laying out on the beach in one of the other rings of Hell. Loona talked about her life and what she thought of her coworkers and adoptive father while Legoshi talked about the human that ended up becoming candidate for destroyer. Legoshi also talked about is life as a mortal since they seemed to have shared a similar feeling of isolation back in their younger year. Legoshi walked her back to her "home" and tucked her in the couch in the I.M.P office and told her goodnight.
It felt good for Legoshi to talk to someone else about his mortal life and develop a friendship with another, but felt like there was something about mortal life he was not understanding or might have been denied when he was mortal.
100 years later from Saitama's perspective:
Saitama felt more "human" after his encounter with Legoshi and thanks to his gift, he could enjoy fights longer. He defeated Garou the hero hunter turned god avatar before he could damage the world thanks to his spare with Legoshi. He later killed the being that called itself God that Saitama felt was a far cry from how intense his fight with the Angel was. Saitama lived to be 125 years and only retired his hero hobby 5 years before that.
Legoshi woke up in front of a train station after he died and was guided by anthro personnel to the front desk. Saitama saw a desk bell on the top and decided to ring it once and accidentally broke it. Saitama looked over the top of the desk and saw a anthro goat woman typing away at a desktop pc.
"Oops! sorry about that!"
"No need to worry sir and you could have just asked for me." She said in a lethargic tone while pointing at her name on a object on her desk.
"Okay thank you miss... Els."
"Name?"
"Saitama."
"Not many Saitama's in the universe so this should narrow it down... from Garden world #8008 called Earth by the populace?"
"Yes mama."
"Ok I have you listed now... it will be... 3 of your home world's days before you meet with Bill... Do you have any questions?..."
"I don't suppose I could get ahead of the line?"
"Nope."
Saitama decided to not argue and just wait the three days while sleeping at the train station that was actually quite accommodating. Once the three days were over, Saitama was led to Bill who was busy typing and printing off papers to give to souls.
"Let's see... Saitama... Looks like based on your actions in the living that I should probably schedule you for heaven." Bill calmly stated while printing off a paper.
"Actually I'm here to wait on Legoshi to pick me up."
"Legoshi huh... Wait!... do you by any chance mean a wolf man wearing robes with a halo around his head?" He said with a more awake and alert tone of voice.
"That's him."
"What busy do you have with that virgin God? Also did he talk about me to others again? Some souls had given me judgmental looks in the past."
"I'm starting to see the insufferable part of him." Saitama thought to himself.
"He said that you can be a pain but you get you job done."
"Yeah... that sounds like something he would say... but what are you waiting on him for?"
"I passed a test and I accepted the job to become this universe's next God of Destruction."
This got Bill's attention and he immediately changed his attitude into one much more professional and respectful.
"I see. Congratulations on the job then Saitama sir. You can wait on that couch over there. Let me go get you a drink and snacks too."
Bill got up from his chair and walked into the back and handed him a normal sized bag of chips, some cookies, a soda, and some water. He also got a pillow for Saitama to lay down on while he waited.
After 30 minutes, Saitama saw Legoshi walking past the big double doors into Bills office with Genos next to him.
"There you are Legoshi! it's been a century, what have you been doing with all that free time of yours?"
"Working Bill. I wanted to help Gouhin make up for lost work and so that he didn't have to keep doing a destroyer's work. Anyways, I see that your here as well Saitama! how did the century treat you."
"Pretty good actually... or at least better if I didn't have that fight with you. Genos! So you decided to take him up on the offer of Joining me."
"Wouldn't have it any other way master Saitama... I also needed Legoshi's upgrades to keep in active duty and the world looked like it could spare a couple of heroes...besides there is still so much to learn from you."
"I'm going to be learning a lot too this time. Think you will be able to keep up?"
"I'll always to my best master."
"Good."
"Are you ready to begin your life as a God Saitama?" Legoshi asked.
"As ready as I will every be."
Back to Legoshi's perspective.
"Before we go, I have to give you back something or else you will probably get heckled for it."
Legoshi twirled his staff in his right hand for a few moments before gently tapping Saitama on his head. Saitama looked up and saw that his own golden halo, above his head, was now gone.
"There you are. You are not back in the living world with a 25 year old body again. Now stand 5 feet from me like we did before."
Saitama did so and both him and Genos vanished in a column of light.
"So where are we heading to?" Saitama asked.
"To your new home... more like home world, but it will just be you, Genos, and my former master. He is an Angel as well and his name is Gouhin. He will be the Panda man wearing the same kind of robes as me."
The three reached the destroyer world in about 15 minutes. Once they got to the base of the massive tree, they were met with the Panda Angel that Legoshi had mentioned.
"Legoshi! it's been how long now... 20,000 years since you were last here. And how are the humans with you?"
Leoghi walked up to Gouhin and gave him a friendly hug.
"I would like you to meet Saitama and his friend Genos. Saitama is the one that passed my test and accepted the job to become the next God of Destruction."
"I guess I can admit a friend living here as well."
Gouhin walked up Saitama and began inspecting him.
"I can work with this... Can you show me how you fight Saitama? throw a punch at me."
Saitama did so as the leaves and branches of all the trees behind Gouhin blew back a little bit when he blocked Saitama's punch with just his index finger.
"No real form there so I guess from scratch it is. And your kick?"
"I'm not as good with kicking."
Gouhin rubs his eyes.
"So even more from scratch than Legoshi was... And what do you know of Ki?"
"That it's energy..?"
Gouhin gives of a are you serious look at Saitama.
"What kind of energy?"
"...Destructive?"
"Master, Ki is the energy that emanates from one's spirit. It's basically your life force."
"Okay I guess I can understand that."
"At least the other mortal seems to get it."
"*sigh* looks like I got my work cut out for me again. At least I can say that you are strong for a mortal and got a decent amount of willpower about you. Now onto your attire. What color do you want your destroyer outfit to be?"
"Outfit?" Saitama asked confused.
Legoshi projects an image of a example of a destroyer's outfit. Saitama examines it a bit.
"I want the pants and those lines around the neck to be yellow and the waist and shoes to be red. Can the bracelets and earring be white?"
"Yes but the symbols have to be white and orange."
"Fine by me."
Gouhin uses his staff to take Saitama's measurements and after a few seconds, manifested a destroyer's outfit in the requested colors. Gouhin pointed to a small room next to the large tree and told him to get changed there. Saitama came out a minutes later in his new attire.
"It befits you Master."
"Thanks Genos. I can manage with the bracelets, but was not too sure about the earring, but I guess its not bad."
Gouhin turns towards Legoshi.
"I can take it from here Legoshi. Take some time to get to know yourself. You have certainly earned the time off your getting for waiting in reserves."
Legoshi nods and waves goodbye to everyone before leaving the planet. Legoshi stopped in empty space a few minutes later. He looked down at himself and his robes.
"but what do I do now? I've worked my whole life... so what do I need to do now?...what do I want to do now?" Legoshi thought in melancholy as he stared down at himself hoping for an answer.
Author's Notes: Turns out I decided to make Saitama Legoshi's replacement as God of Destruction. I think the position fits him well and he would get more chances to find worthy opponents and sparing partners. Hope you enjoyed the chapter and let me know in the reviews what you think.
