2/2 for today!

Monday, September 29, 1998

Monday dawned bright and early, all three of them preparing for their days at school.

"I do so love you two in your robes," Theo chirped from where he was perched on the vanity. "Knowing that I'm married to two professors…"

Hermione rolled her eyes, "Yes, Theodore, we're all married to two professors…" she noticed a small frown crease his brow, but she couldn't be bothered with his cheeky humour today.

"Darling," Draco said, in a, in Hermione's opinion patronisingly, "are you alrig-?"

"Of course I'm bloody well alright," she huffed. "You two need to stop treating me like I'm made out of glass!" She turned on her heel and marched away, not even stopping in the dining room where she knew breakfast was laid out.

She jumped into the Floo and made her way to her class room, stomping the whole way.

"Mi?" Harry called.

"Want to treat me like a baby too, Harry?" she asked petulantly.

"Er, no?" he said, rubbing the back of his neck in confusion.

"I'm just so bloody tired of everyone acting like I can't do anything!" she said, shrilly. "The rest of you get to go on missions and so all sorts of exciting things and I'm stuck going to Tea and fucking crumpets! And being here teaching Draco's lessons."

"I think you need to come with me," he said, knowingly, "I have something to show you."

Hermione followed him back to the Floo and to Headquarters. He handed her a pile of parchment. "Do you see these?" Hermione nodded, but refused to say anything until he made his point. "These are successful missions implemented from your intel. I know we don't say it enough, but this war wouldn't be anywhere without you. You've saved more lives than you know."

Hermione sniffled, "I just feel so separate from it all, so useless."

"Come now," Kingsley's deep voice came from the doorway, "I suppose we should be including you in more of our planning sessions, but we thought you were content with where you were, we didn't want to overwork you."

"I know my lim-" she started but cut off when Harry scoffed. "Fine, I'm learning my limits."

"Why don't you start coming by on Wednesday's to be part of our War Room sessions?" Kingsley said with an affectionate gleam in his eye.

"I will, thank you, Kings," she said as Harry led her out of the room. "I was being unreasonable, wasn't I?" She asked Harry.

"Not unreasonable," he said, "I remember being frustrated when Dumbledore wouldn't involve me in anything, but the big difference is you have all these people who will listen."

She sighed and opened her mental link with the boys, "I'm sorry," she said letting her embarrassment soak into her tone.

"Are you ready to tell us what is wrong?" Draco asked.

"I've just been feeling so unuseful. I feel like all I do is float around attending tea parties. Even the Potion's lessons I'm teaching aren't really mine," she said quietly.

"Yeah, I know what you mean," Theo said, and she could tell that he was frustrated. "I feel like I'm not doing enough, there are people out there fighting in skirmishes and Draco goes off to do life-or-death espionage and I'm slinging Firewhiskey with the Neutral Families. It's… disappointing?"

"Well now I feel bad, Theo," Hermione said, letting a small chuckle pass through the bond, "I suppose we should have just talked about this, hm?"

Draco was oddly silent, "If I had it my way you two would be locked in the house at all hours, not even interacting with the Neutral Families," he said after a few moments.

"Well you know our Gryffindor Princess would never allow that," Theo said with a smirk. She could feel him sober though, "I won't lie to you though, I'm bloody glad that you're not out on the front fighting, love. I'm afraid our Slytherin Self-Preservation hasn't rubbed off on you."

Hermione snorted, "Of course not, but don't think I haven't noticed how much more you two go out of your way to help others!"

"Just because we're not reckless Gryffindors, doesn't mean we don't care," Theo teased.

"I wouldn't have married you if you didn't care," Hermione said with a grin.

"I expect a huge hug when I get home," Draco said.

"I think I can manage that," Hermione responded.

"Do I have to wait until we get home?" Theo asked, cheekily.

"I have half a mind to make you wait," Hermione said, but the effect was ruined as she was walking into his classroom at that moment.

"Alright you two," Draco said, "no more distractions unless there is an emergency, I'm working on a precarious potion this morning."

"Aye aye, mon capitan!" Theo teased.

"I love you too," Draco said as he lightly put up his walls.

Theo was sitting at his desk and held his arms out to her. She came over and perched on his lap. "I wish you would have said something," Theo said softly into her hair.

"Right back at you, hypocrite," she said with a ghost of a smirk.

"Alright, I deserved that," Theo said, tightening his arms around her. "I just… I know we're doing things to help, but we're not in the action and so it feels…slow?"

"I know what you mean," Hermione sighed. "Harry showed me a pile of documents that showed all the successful missions based on intel I've collected, which made me feel slightly better, but I still miss the thrill of the fight, you know?"

"I," Theo said smiling at her, "for one, do not miss the thrill of you fighting. I think I died and resurrected every year with the shite that you got into."

Hermione giggled, "That is a fair assessment, I know that at least one time I had to perform a Rennerverate on you."

Theo scoffed, "As if I wasn't in the bloody Hospital Wing chasing after my injured girlfriend repeatedly during the school year."

Hermione nuzzled into his neck and laid a gentle kiss against his pulse point. "I love you, Theodore Nott."

"I love you too, Hermione Malfoy Nott," he said softly.

A throat cleared from the doorway. Remus was standing, looking pointedly at the wall, but Hermione could swear she saw tears glistening in his eyes. He cleared his throat again. "I was hoping to hold a staff meeting if you all aren't opposed?"

Hermione scampered off of Theo's lap and followed Remus to the Main Hall. Narcissa was sitting primly between Harry and Neville. Hermione waved at her and received a big smile back.

"Alright, now that we're all gathered," Remus said kindly, "I wanted to go over a few orders of business…."

That day, like any Monday, seemed to rush by in a blur. By the time Hermione was enveloped in Draco's arms that evening, her mood from earlier had all but vanished. She was feeling useful and productive, it just didn't look like how she'd anticipated it looking when she was on the Horcrux Hunt.

During dessert, Draco and Theo deemed Hermione's story-telling about Castelobruxo sufficient and recommended Richard that he try as hard as he could not to talk about his time at school.
