Chapter 10: Hero Tenkaichi Budokai Part 1
UA Teacher Box
Nezu was enjoying himself during the tournament. Not only was Perseus as dominant as he had expected, but his students were not backing down from him. What made the principal smile even more was Midoriya's growth. It was evident that One For All had taken a different approach with the young boy, who was still adapting to the power, but he was glad to see him adjust to it. That last Smash was enough to crack an ice dome completely, much to the surprise of everyone in the stadium as well as All Might, who was beaming at his successor's growth.
He also had a rough idea of where Perseus's mortal spot was. During the Cavalry Battle when Midoriya shattered the dome, he opted to create a shield that would prevent any falling debris from hitting him, which made him believe that his mortal spot could've been exposed. He was well aware of the Trojan War and Achilles, and surmised that the heel was more than just an exposed target, but a mortal point that had been breached. And since Perseus said that he took a bath in the Styx to achieve the same invulnerability, it only made sense that his mortal point would be somewhere different. Of course he wasn't going to use that information against the lad, that would be a breach of his trust after all. He was however willing to test its limit. After all, Jackson had taken blows that were meant for All Might, and while adrenaline numbed the pain it still was evident that even with the curse protecting his physical body, the toll it took was massive.
He also noticed that several pro heroes were paying close attention not just to the time traveling demigod, but to the students of Class 1-A. No surprise as they had dealt with the surprise villain attack in the USJ so naturally they would get the attention. Unfortunately as a result the other students were overlooked, such as Hitoshi Shinso and Mei Hatsume, both of whom had qualified for the third round. Now he faced a dilemma. The third round is where everyone would showcase their quirks in one on one combot. Sometimes it would be a gimmick scenario, like the year prior where the students used wooden swords. But this year the plan would be a tournament where the competitors would be paired off against each other. All there was left to do was decide who would face Jackson in each round, after all the demigod had more experience than all the first years combined in combat.
Mt Olympus
Poseidon had breathed a sigh of relief seeing his son retain his position at the top, but he was confused. "Why did he risk himself and go after those two groups? He did not need their points," he asked.
Clarisse kept her head down as did Annabeth, Grover, and Chiron. They knew that Percy wanted them to team up as the last time he saw two groups fighting each other, it led to the death of a dear friend. Seeing Todoroki and Midoriya go after each other must've triggered him to move and stop them.
Athena would've answered but she saw the demigods feeling down. Also she noticed Aphrodite drying a tear, still feeling distraught about Silena and her actions. Deciding to change the subject she then asked "What's more intriguing is why Jackson decided to leave his neck exposed. Its almost as if he was afraid of something piercing him, which would be impossible unless his mortal point was in jeopardy." Seeing her daughter flinch a bit already proved her point, though the fact that Poseidon's brat trusted her daughter with such vital information made her curse inwardly for stopping him from declaring his feelings when he tried to.
Poseidon scowled as he turned toward the wisdom goddess. "What are you getting at Athena? Why the sudden interest in my son's mortal spot?" he asked, to which Athena responded immediately "Before you say anything Barnacle Beard, I'm just making sure the spot is protected in his suit. After all he has to be extra careful to not be pierced or blasted in that area wherever it is. After all, he is in a world where most of the world's population have powers."
Sally just dried an unshed tear. Seeing her son alive with a smile still present on his face was all she wanted. She had been devastated when Annabeth told her and Paul what had happened, they had spent so much time waiting for a blue light to fill the Empire State Building but nothing came, and after several minutes of sobs and hugs, she was happy to know her son was alive but sad that he was so far out of reach. The thing that kept her going was the hope that she would see her son come back. When Chronos came by and asked her if she wanted to check on her son, she did not hesitate to say yes. She was in shock and awe at Percy's speed, strength, and tenacity. She knew that her son was talented but this was amazing. And the other students, all of them were just as good. She watched each of them perform at the best of their abilities, and even though Percy surpassed them, they were still keeping up with him.
Chronos sighed as everyone's attention turned to the screen. What they saw made the gods laugh in tandem at Percy's luck. The six girls in Class 1-A were standing in front of Percy wearing cheerleader outfits. Percy was doing his best to not look at the girls who had unintentionally set Annabeth into a rage as she grabbed her knife charging at the projection only to be stopped by Grover and Thalia, Clarisse rolling on the floor laughing didn't help things and neither did Nico drawing his stygian iron sword. Then all of a sudden the ladies left quickly leaving Percy in peace as he breathed a sigh of relief before a frown began to form on his face as he headed back to the stadium. "Well someone is getting his ass kicked" Sally stated, shocking the audience as this was the first time they heard her curse. Sally then explained, "Some guy tried to grope me on the subway only to back off. I turned to Percy and he had this same look on his face." Poseidon was livid that someone tried to put his hands on Sally, but one look from her made him stop. Chronos had to laugh at the site of an angry Percy knowing that whoever tricked the girls was in trouble.
UA Stadium
Percy tried desperately to contain his anger as he stormed his way back to the field in search of Mineta and Kaminari. After the whole lunch with the students, which began with most of them staring at him in awe making him feel uncomfortable before Iida had to remind everyone that Percy is still adapting to their culture, he was surprised to see the Class 1-A girls dressed up as cheerleaders. It took every bit of his power to look away from the revealing outfits as he told them that under no circumstances was there a cheer battle. The ladies were horrified and swore revenge on the two perverts, to which Percy agreed to help. There was enough time for the girls to go change as Percy reminded them before heading to the arena.
He then bumped into someone, feeling a massive amount of heat coming from the guy. He looked up and saw the face of Endeavor, the Hellfire Hero. Percy stared at the man unflinchingly, trying not to laugh at the flames around his face "Ah you're the time traveling hero, Perseus Jackson. It is an honor to meet such a decorated symbol. I must say your performance today has been substantial so far. Your control over the elements has been most impressive" the man praised with a forced smile. Percy just bowed and replied "Thank you. It means a lot coming from you sir." Normally he wouldn't be respectful and answer with a sarcastic comment, but from what Midoriya told him, the man had too much influence in Japan. So upsetting him might not be the best idea.
"You will prove to be a fine stepping stone for Shoto. He's still in his rebellious phase as you may have noticed. But soon he will realize the error of his ways and fulfill his destiny" Endeavor continued, unknowingly pissing Percy off. Now he realized why Midoriya wasn't a fan of the guy. His arrogance made him on par with Ares. And the way he talked about his son, as if he were a thing instead of a person, just made him even madder. But he contained himself. 'No reason to make enemies right now. No matter how hard I want to punch him' he thought to himself as he walked past the man.
"No disrespect sir, but right now I'm focused on making it to the top. If I have to face your son, I will give him everything I have out of respect for him. But understand this, I will not be a stepping stone for him to climb" Percy said as he walked away from the stunned hero. He reached the entrance to the field and stopped before turning back to the man with a glare "I will be the milestone for all of them to reach" he finished before turning back, his rage almost blinding him as he walked away.
Mt Olympus
All the demigods were glaring at the projection specifically at the man whose facial hair was made of fire, so much so that Chiron had to step away. The gods that have had children squirmed a bit in their seats, a bit uncomfortable as some of them treated their children as badly as he did. Chiron sighed at the sudden animosity but beamed at Percy for keeping his cool "Atta boy Percy. Good job keeping that all in that couldn't have been easy. And good on you to put the man in his place" Chiron praised the son of Poseidon.
Hearing that the demigods calmed down and began to discuss amongst themselves whether or not they should let their godly parents know how similar the two were. Artemis had picked up on what they were discussing, millennia spent hunting honed her hearing to the point where she could hear all the animals in the forests. She kept quiet though and sent a thought to Athena 'Not to eavesdrop but they're talking about all of you. Specifically how similar you are to that man. You might want to talk with your daughter later about that though as the evidence is mounting and we don't want another civil war to erupt'.
Athena's eyes widened as she turned to Artemis. Noting the serious look on her sister's face, she sighed and promised herself that she would speak with Annabeth about this, for the first time in millenia confused on how to approach this subject. For now she would keep watch over her daughter's paramour, hoping to see what she really liked about him.
UA Stadium
Midoriya looked around worried for Percy. The third event was about to be announced, and yet he and the girls of Class 1-A were missing. Suddenly he saw Percy, and boy he wished he didn't. The man was releasing a killing intent so massive that Midoriya felt that only a glare would be enough to kill someone. "Percy-senpai is everything alright?" he asked timidly hoping to calm him down before the one-on-one bouts. The others were also nervous as the only time they saw the guy this angry was when he threatened Shigaraki. Kirishima, Bakugo, Midoriya and Todoroki were there to experience it and they felt as if they couldn't breathe. The last thing they needed right now was a furious Jackson.
Percy took a deep breath and calmed down before turning to the green head "Sorry Bush Head. Let's just say that I had a … chat with Endeavor '' he apologized with a small smile on his face, still miffed about the guy. Todoroki heard that and glared at the floor. Midoriya's face turned into a frown as well, while Bakugo intensified his own.
Kaminari then opened his mouth and asked "Wow, the number 2 hero wanted to talk with you. What did he want?" Percy then turned to the dirty blonde and the midget grape before smiling from ear to ear at the two, terrifying the two as they began to take a step back. Only to freeze as the girls came running towards the two, Yaoyarozu holding a large mace as she ran. As they turned to run, they realized their feet were stuck to the ground and before they could break free, Jiro then sent both of her jacks into their ears, zapping them. As the rest of the girls began pummeling the two perverts, Percy whistled as he walked away, the rest of the class watching on in horror.
Midnight then got on the stage and slashed her whip on the ground. "The third and final event is about to begin but first here are the finalists. For those of you who haven't qualified there are a number of recreational activities available for you before the event starts. Those who did qualify can join if they so please, or they could prepare themselves in the training rooms provided" she announced as the top 5 groups (or more accurately Percy and the 4 groups beneath him) in the cavalry battle were displayed on a screen behind her. As she was about to announce the event while holding out a box filled with numbers, a voice was heard saying "I forfeit."
Percy, stunned, turned to the voice which just happened to belong to Ojiro. The blonde looked disappointed in himself as if he didn't belong. "I understand this is a limited opportunity for us. And I know that heroes are scouting us. But everyone here put their heart and soul into the second round, and I don't even remember what I did. Something about that guy's power" Ojiro explained, a sad look on his face. Ojiro turned to Shinso who looked away before continuing "And because of that I forfeit. I can't bear the thought that someone who worked hard didn't get a shot while I don't even know what I did to earn it."
"I also forfeit for the same reason" Percy heard as he turned to a short chubby white haired teen, his eyes widened as he realized why. He had seen those two teaming with Shinso. "It would betray the entire purpose of the festival if I advance not even knowing how I got here" the kid continued, the crowd quiet as they absorbed the reasons.
The crowd began to murmur, still stunned by the two withdrawals. "Huh that's a bit odd? What do you suppose we do Eraser" Mic asked
"That depends on Midnight." Aizawa answered, also curious about the decision. But not surprised. Ojiro was a student dedicated to his craft. And Aizawa had seen the blank look in his eyes all throughout the second round, as well as the blank look Shoda had which meant Shinso had used his quirk in on them both in order to recruit them. As a result Aizawa knew that Ojiro, no matter how hard his classmates begged him to reconsider, would not change his mind. After all his pride was damaged.
Midnight stared at the two with a harsh glare before saying "That talk is incredibly naive boys. That turns me ON! Shoda, Ojiro, I accept your withdrawals. As a result, two members of Team Kendo can participate in the tournament" Percy mouth was agape in shock. 'How is she a teacher?!' He thought to himself before shaking his head. Then Kendo spoke up and declared "Actually if you don't mind, Ms Midnight, I would rather let TetsuTetsu and his team participate. We may have had more points in the end but he and his group were up there the majority of the round so they deserve the extra spots."
Percy just shook his head smiling. He actually wanted to face either her or Ojiro in this tournament as he felt that those two would actually test his hand to hand combat. But he couldn't complain as the current lineup looked solid. Tetsutesu and Shiozaki had been chosen. Now that the positions have been filled, Midnight held out the box and asked each contestant to grab a slip of paper containing a number from 1 through 8. Percy went to grab his, getting the number 5. He then looked up and noticed the matches being displayed.
Match 1: Izuku Midoriya vs Hitoshi Shinso.
Match 2: Shoto Todoroki vs Hanta Sero
Match 3: Denki Kaminari vs Ibara Shiozaki
Match 4: Tenya Iida vs Mei Hatsume
Match 5: Mina Ashido vs Percy Jackson
Match 6: Momo Yaoyarozu vs Fumikage Tokoyami
Match 7: Ejirou Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu
Match 8: Ochaco Uraraka vs Katsuki Bakugo
Percy stared at the matches, a bit confused as to why the hard headed boys were fighting each other. He then realized that he was placed in a situation where he didn't have to face Iida, Midoriya, or Shinso until the finals. Those 3 had the best chances of beating him if they gave it their all. Bakugo, Kirishima, Yaoyarozu, Tokoyami, and Uraraka were possible opponents in the next 2 rounds, Uraraka and Yaoyarozu he kept as wildcards due to how overpowered their quirks can be. And Ashido wasn't a slouch, even though he heard her faint with the other girls trying to cheer her up.
He then heard Shinso talking and turned towards him, seeing Ojiro cover Midoriya's mouth with his tail while glaring at the purple haired teen. 'So it only works when the target responds. Clever, and very useful considering how villains love to talk. Shame he's not in the Hero Course' Percy thought to himself. He decided to forgo the recreational games and headed to the training room so that he could stretch, only to hear a voice behind him. "So did that Flaming Bastard tell you anything?" Turning around he saw Bakugo staring at him, a frown visible on his face.
Percy leaned against the wall. "Shouldn't you be playing around with the others?" Percy noted as he had seen several students from 1-A even some who were participating in the mini tournament. Bakugo didn't change his expression so Percy sighed "You know more about it than I do. Don't think I didn't see you following Izuku. But just to entertain you, he felt that I would be a test for his son to overcome."
Bakugo looked away as he noted "Never thought Icy Hot would have had a hard time growing up as the Number 2 hero's son. Just so that Endeavor overcomes All Might."
"Endeavor made the same mistake you did, believing All Might to be a god" Percy stated with a frown on his face. Bakugo turned to him with wide eyes as the two stared at each other, Percy challenging the blond to prove him wrong. "What you forgot is that All Might, despite his accomplishments, is still human. There's no problem idolizing him, but you idolized his power, not his personality. Both of you had dreams of surpassing him and his power, that you didn't recognize the true reason behind his strength. So word of advice, apologize before it's too late" Percy finished before walking past the stunned Bakugou.
Bakugou stared at the black haired teen with narrowed eyes. What did Deku tell him? Percy stopped for a moment and answered the question Bakugo was thinking "If you're wondering, he didn't tell me but I could tell he was bullied. I've been bullied as a kid, but I had friends that supported me. However, you were his friend, until you saw others harassing Midoriya and jumped on the bandwagon. And now that he has a quirk, you're mad that a person who you considered weak has the potential to become a much better hero than you" Percy claimed with a glare towards Bakugo.
He kept his glare trained on the blond teen before continuing "Now he actually wants to stay quiet about this, because for some unknown reason he still values you as a friend and wants that relationship. But I promise you, one day your world will come apart soon, and you will regret the choices you made. And at that moment you better hope that Midoriya still stays the same, because if it were me, I wouldn't give you that second chance." Once done, Percy turned and headed back to seats assigned for the students, a seething Bakugo silently following him.
The two reached the seats assigned to Class 1-A, Percy sitting next to Iida while Bakugou sat next to Kirishima on the opposite end. Brushing his anger aside he turned to Iida with a smile. "So Midoriya's up first. And judging by the looks, you're concerned. I wouldn't worry so much. Bush Head will shock you," Percy vowed. Iida then glared at Percy and chopped his hands "Must you give nicknames to anyone you meet?! That is highly unprofessional behavior!" He yelled at the black haired teen
"It's coming from a good place Sonic, no harm done," Percy responded, a smirk very much visible on his face as Iida froze for a few seconds, Uraraka and the other girls giggling at the nickname. But before Iida could reprimand him, Percy held his hand up. "Well the competitors are out… seriously they used that picture?!" Percy stated exasperatedly as the images of Shinso and Midoriya were shown on the screen, the latter being one where he was frozen stiff. Some of the immature members, aka Sero and Kaminari, were laughing while Uraraka giggled. "He looks kinda cute to me" she whispered to herself. Percy just stared at her with a blank expression as Jirou laughed. "I will never understand why girls enjoy seeing boys they like in embarrassing situations," Percy whispered under his breath, as Jirou smirked in his direction.
Shinso and Midoriya arrived at the battlefield facing each other, Midoriya being nervous as he approached while Shinso had his hands in his pocket with a lazy expression on his face. Midnight then slashed her whip on the ground signaling the beginning of the match. Midoriya took a kickboxing orthodox stance arms up with the elbows tucked, much to everyone's surprise. Shinso, however, started talking. "Well someone's a bit overconfident in his quirk. Midoriya isn't that easy to goad," Percy commented. Suddenly he felt everyone's eyes on him "Was it something I said?" Percy asked
"How do you know that about Deku?" Uraraka asked as she narrowed her eyes at Percy. Percy smirked, "Let's just say that he and I trained together last week and I had to find ways to goad him into attacking me. Don't worry I didn't go too far with your boyfriend" Percy teased, making Uraraka blush all of a sudden as she tried to deny any relationship. Suddenly they heard Midoriya scream before stopping all of a sudden. PErcy turned and sure enough Midoriya was standing still. "Damn it I told him not to say anything" Ojirou cursed.
"Midoriya is now completely still. He hasn't moved a muscle. How is this possible" Mic announced. The audience were stunned as well, seeing someone who had so much power neutralized with such ease.
"This is why the entrance exam is irrational when it comes to sorting out the students. Hitoshi Shinso's quirk allows him to brainwash anyone who responds to him verbally. And thus ineffective against machines" Aizawa answered. Many heroes in the audience were impressed by the upstart.
Percy didn't say anything. He watched as Midoriya turned and walked towards the boundary. "What's going on? Why is Midoriya-kun heading the wrong way" Iida asked, concerned as Midoriya got closer and closer to the boundary.
"He's been brainwashed. The only way for him to break out is if he touches someone" Percy answered. Everyone then looked at him, making him sigh as he explained, "For some reason, Nezu believed that it was only fair that since I asked him to show clips of my fighting style to you guys, that I should know what I'm up against. And over the week he sent me files on every first year student in UA practically ordering me to memorize each person's quirk and your analysis of me. I still think it was unnecessary, but I guess he didn't want me to be completely blindsided."
Yaoyorozu nervously asked, "Umm so about our analysis? Were we?" Percy smiled as he turned to her before answering, "About my powers? You guys were on point. On how I was able to notice Crusty from behind? Sorry but no one got it right. And I mean not a single first year Tokage." His last comment directed at an ear placed on the wall separating both Class 1-A and Class 1-B.
A gasp was heard as the head of Setsuna Tokage, missing her left ear, floated over the wall, a stunned look on her face. Soon Kendou Itsuka joined her in stunned silence as did Monoma. "I'll let Midoriya explain what you guys got wrong." Percy offered.
Before they could ask how, a massive gust was felt across the field. Everyone's attention turned as they saw Midoriya gasping for air while two of his fingers were purple. "Damn it Bush Head I told you not to use 100% before your body gets used to the strain. You're lucky you were brainwashed" Percy muttered, much to the shock of everyone around him.
"Hold on you mean to tell me that Midoriya has been getting injured because he's using too much at once!" Kirishima asked. Percy responded quickly, "His quirk had manifested late so he's still getting used to it. After all, it allows him to stockpile so much energy that a single flick can create a whirlpool. So we trained last week to minimize the output to a point where he could use it safely."
Suddenly Midoriya activated Full Cowl at 5%. Red lines appeared on his legs, arms, and body before being replaced by green lightning to the absolute shock of everyone watching barring Percy and Todoroki who saw it first hand in the second round. He then charged at the stunned Shinso who was frozen in fear.
"Woah baby Midoriya just broke free with just inches to spare. And now he's charging at Shinso. But what is he planning now?" Present Mic yelled out.
"Shut up and find out Mic" Aizawa responded, earning a laugh from the audience.
Reaching him within seconds, Midoriya feinted a right hand jab to the face, forcing Shinso to put his guard up to protect it. Percy smiled as Midoriya then switched targets as he delivered a powerful left hook to the stomach, forcing Shinso to keel over. As he was falling, Midoriya then hit him with an uppercut so hard Shinso was sent to the air and landed on his back across the boundary
"Shinso is out of bounds. Midoriya wins!" Midnight announced earning a cheer from the audience for the spectacular ending. All Might watched with a smile, impressed by his protégé's new form of OFA.
Later on Midoriya joined them in the booth, his fingers taped. He was about to sit next to Uraraka but froze when he heard "Midoriya, you remember the deal we made right? Every time you used 100% when you didn't need to?" He gulped as he looked toward The sound and sure enough, sea green eyes were narrowed in his direction. "Sorry Percy-senpai! I will make it." Midoriya tried to apologize only for the man in question to laugh. "I'm just messing with you, Bush Head. Now take a seat your classmates have questions for you," Percy laughed.
Sure enough everyone was staring at him puzzled. He sighed and sat next to Uraraka. "You have my permission to talk about what we discussed last week about my powers. I'm gonna watch Todoroki and Sero fight" Percy commented as he watched Sero come out. Midoriya's eyes began to gleam as he started to talk about Percy's powers. Percy then noticed Todoroki's face and was concerned at the anger flowing from him. So concerned he was that he didn't realize that Tsuyu was then sitting next to him. "Percy-chan what's wrong?" she asked, worried due to the frown etched on his face.
Percy looked to his left at the frog girl and shook his head "Its Todoroki. He's angry and with his quirk, that anger will lead to recklessness" he answered. Then all of a sudden he grabbed Tsu and hugged her with his left hand while holding out his right, heating it up so much fire flowed from his right elbow all the way to his palm. Before anyone could question the act, a huge iceberg covered half of the stadium pressing on the demigod's hand. Percy then warmed his body up. "Asui-san let me know if you need a warmer temperature" he offered the stunned frog girl. Initially the cold almost set her into hibernation but Jackson's warmth kept her awake. The others were staring in disbelief. Suddenly the ice began to melt allowing Class 1-A a view of what happened on the field.
Percy glared heatedly at the dual haired Todoroki who had a sad expression on his face. Sero was frozen from the neck down shivering. Midnight's left side was frozen as she asked "Sero can you move?" Sero shivered as he shook his head "Then Todoroki wins" Midnight announced. The crowd was silent before chanting "Don't worry about it!".
Percy turned to Yaoyarozu and ordered "Yaoyarozu, Asui needs a warm blanket to prevent her from going into hibernation. I'll check on Sero." Without hesitation, he jumped onto the ice and slid down to the field. Yaoyorozu without hesitation, pulled one of her sleeves off and created a warm blanket big enough for Tsu and wrapped the frog girl with it, keeping her warm. Percy arrived at the field and noticed Todoroki holding his left hand which was ignited as he melted the ice holding Sero. Percy focused on the ice holding Sero and Midnight and adjusted the temperature of the ice, turning it into water quicker. Todoroki was shocked as he turned around and noticed Jackson frowning with his eyes closed. The ice he had then created was then turned into water which was then condensed into a ball of water the size of a beach ball which was launched into the air.
Percy then opened his eyes and held his hand out towards Sero. Suddenly Sero's uniform dried out completely. Percy then lowered his hand "You feeling alright Sero?" Percy asked. Sero just nodded still in awe of what he saw. "Alright, head to Recovery Girl's office just in case. Todoroki, we need to talk, '' Percy ordered. The dual haired teen glared at the green eyed hero, which he returned viciously. Sero just walked away from the two not wanting to get caught in between two titans. Even the audience was a bit concerned, as two possible finalists were already having a stare down. Percy then walked towards a hallway in which Todoroki followed, much to Endeavor's chagrin. His son still refused to use his fire. Hopefully Jackson could knock some sense into him.
Percy was livid. He knew that Endeavor said something to trigger his son. But that was inexcusable. He not only put Sero's life in danger, but he also put his own teacher in harm's way and almost sent Asui into hibernation. Once he was sure no one was around he turned around and faced him "Do you realize the damage you almost caused today because of your temper tantrum?" Percy asked. Todoroki opened his mouth to apologize only for Percy to scold him "Midnight and Sero might've suffered from hypothermia! Asui almost went into hibernation, which the human body isn't accustomed to! I guess you didn't realize that frogs tend to do that when it's cold, did you? I'm not going to get involved in your home life. That's none of my business. But if you're angry don't take it out on them. And the only people you should even consider using that move of yours against are villains and me!"
Todoroki glared at the teen before sighing. "You're correct. I should've controlled myself and I apologize." Todoroki stated. Percy just shook his head "Don't apologize to me. Go up there and apologize to them. They're the ones you hurt. But know this. Your powers are yours. No one else's" Percy advised. He then headed back to the Class 1-A section.
Todoroki then realized what truly intrigued him about Jackson. He could care less about fame. If he cared that much, he would've gloated as he checked on Sero. But his first instinct was Sero's well-being and then to reprimand him for his own carelessness. And even then Jackson only went after him for letting his anger get the better of him. He could've pried if he wanted to, but he didn't need to. With that Todoroki followed Jackson to formally apologize to both Sero and Asui.
Mt Olympus
Aphrodite's grin was from ear to ear as she saw Percy protect the frog-like girl. Everyone else was focused on the massive glacier, which again prompted Zeus to threaten Poseidon, something the sea god vehemently denied. Annabeth didn't seem to care though. The love goddess found that odd. As did Thalia and Artemis. They both knew Percy wasn't the kind of guy to ask for favors when he saved someone but this was wierd
Clarisse however knew why Annabeth didn't react to the hug. She knew how big Percy's heart was. And considering the fact that the girl had the same aspects of a frog, a creature that did fall under Poseidon's domain, it was clear that Percy would make sure she was protected. There was one thing that did confuse her however.
"Wise Girl, any reason why Prissy would make sure Frog Legs stayed warm?" Clarisse asked. Sally frowned at the nickname the daughter of Ares gave her son but knew that was how Clarisse showed affection to her friends. Athena then answered "There is a category of frogs that do fall under Poseidon's domain. And considering the effect Jackson had on her, then her frog aspects must have descended from aquatic frogs. Which hibernate in cold temperatures so get your mind out of the gutter Aphrodite!" The last part directed at the love goddess with a glare that made her yelp.
Apollo however stared at her young body. "Wow Japanese girls have seriously gotten more attractive as of late. You know Hermes we should spend a century there. Who knows how many babes we can… OH SHIT UNCLE P WHAT IN CHAOS'S NAME IS WRONG WITH YOU" Apollo yelled as a trident was launched at his throne forcing him to duck. As soon as he glared at the thrower, he cowered behind his throne as the glare from Poseidon was the scariest thing he had seen barring Typhon.
Poseidon did not appreciate the pass at a woman that fell under his domain. Not only that but Apollo really disregarded the fact that any action could affect the timeline "I don't need to remind you that any action we take affects the timeline my son is in. As of this moment Japan now falls under my jurisdiction. Any Olympian or god who dares to enter it will be punished severely. This I swear upon the Styx" Poseidon swore as thunder flashed outside Olympus violently. The room was then shocked when Athena then swore "I also declare Japan off limits. And I swear if I even hear a whisper of any of you setting foot on that country, you will wish for Aegis to turn you into stone. I swear on the River Styx"
Chronos actually laughed as he stated "Well that sets the timeline back in shape. Now shush." They then saw Percy turn the entire glacier into water which was sent flying away. "Damn I know he has powers over ice but still that's insane. He can't create ice though right?" Nico commented on the show of skill
Annabeth shook her head and smiled "No he can't but he can manipulate it. He can alter its temperature so that it could get colder or melt it. That's how he freed my hand that got caught under a Hyperborean giant's breath" she corrected. She frowned when he saw him scold the dual haired teen. She knew why he was being harsh with Todoroki and she did agree with him. After all, when she found out Thalia used her electricity on Percy shoving into a creek due to the loss to the hunters, Annabeth spent over an hour lecturing her on excessive force, to which Thalia then profusely apologized to Percy. But the look on Todoroki's face reminded her of what Percy looked like when Tyson had disappeared in the disaster against Charybdis and Scylla, shell shocked and numb. She then smiled when she saw them both sit with the rest of the students, a little peeved at the frog girl sitting next to Percy though. But what really intrigued her was Midoriya's note taking. He had been incredibly detailed.
She frowned, those notes were a bit too close for comfort. And he had added the fact that Percy had ADHD. Did Percy tell him or did he figure it out?
UA Stadium
Percy felt a bit uncomfortable. Why? Because Tsu had decided to sit next to him instead of where she originally sat. Normally he wouldn't pay attention as he had ensured her safety a few moments ago, if not for the fact that Ashido and Hagakure were staring with teasing smiles. Percy just focused on the upcoming match. Meanwhile Midoriya was in the middle of a mutter storm as he added notes to his hero notebook on Percy's page, much to Iida and Uraraka's fascination.
"Wow Deku-kun, you have this much on Percy alone?" Uraraka said in awe. Midoriya smiled at her with his eyes gleaming. "His powers are amazing. And he's still learning how to use them. He's also weaponized his own disability. That's how he reacted to Shigaraki! As someone who has attention deficit hyperactive disorder, he can't focus on just one thing, but when he's fighting, he allows himself to focus on his opponent's whole body. Their arms, legs, even the sweat buildup" Midoriya stated with glee.
"Okay hold on. Uraraka, why do you call Midoriya Deku? Sorry if it's personal but that's been bugging me" Percy asked. He had a sneaky suspicion as to where the nickname came from but was confused as to why Uraraka would be using it, as well as to why Midoriya was blushing whenever she said it.
"Oh um, you see, Deku was a nickname I had when I was younger, so it kinda stuck I guess" Midoriya said. Iida, then to the duo's horror, said "Also Uraraka-kun said the name sounded cute". All eyes turned to Uraraka who was blushing so much she almost made herself float away, while Midoriya hid his face behind his hands.
Percy was holding in his laughter as Iida looked confused at the angry looks his friends gave him before looking onto the field. Shiozaki was in the middle of politely chastising Present Mic for calling her an assassin. "Wow I'm surprised the Abrahamic religions stayed intact. I guess some believe that quirks were an act of God?" Percy guessed. He almost turned to Yaoyarozu who was about to speak when he heard Jirou groan. Looking back, he facepalmed at the lackadaisical/flirtatious attitude Kaminari had. "Great, another guy who uses electricity that can't think without the tool in his pants" Percy muttered in annoyance which Jirou laughed at. He watched as Kaminari released an electric current that flooded the field, only for Shiozaki to turn while extending her vines. The vines intercepted the electricity with ease as another set chased after the confused and short circuited Kaminari, trapping him before lifting him into the air.
The entire section of Class 1-A, baring Midoriya who was taking notes, were surprised. They didn't expect Kaminari to lose so easily. Suddenly Monoma hopped over the barricade blocking the two hero course classes. But before he could say anything Percy started laughing. "Even an entire century later, Pokemon rules still apply in the real world. Kaminari looks priceless!" he cried out. Jirou laughed out loud while Yaoyarozu had to hold a giggle in.
Percy stopped and looked at a stunned Monoma who was staring at him in disbelief. "Were you about to say something? I'm sorry. It's just that I have an uncle and cousin who use lightning and I've never once seen them short circuit like that. I can only imagine what they would look like if they did. Especially since my uncle is always serious whenever he's throwing a tantrum" Percy said with a smile on his face.
Monoma disregarded that as he started taunting "Looks like we have one over Class 1-A. It will only be a matter of time before we overtake you." Percy sighed as he answered "Last time I checked, you had a chance to be in this round but got cocky. So please stop. Besides, Shiozaki won because Kaminari completely ignored the rules of combat." Midoriya perked up as did the rest. Muttering in disbelief, Percy turned to the green haired teen and ordered, "Midoriya! Rules of Combat! Now!"
Iida was about to reprimand Percy for commanding his friend when Midoriya stood up and stated "Rule #1: Do not underestimate your opponent no matter the circumstances. Rule #2: Always pay attention to your surroundings. And Rule #3: Until you have been declared the victor or your opponent is unconscious, always prepare for a counter!" Percy smiled and nodded as the rest were stunned, Bakugou's eyes almost flew out of their sockets.
"Deku, what was that" Uraraka asked nervously. Said green bean turned to her rubbing his hand behind his head "Oh Percy-senpai made me memorize these three rules when it came to fighting. He said that each one of those rules saved his life in every battle" he explained to her. Iida would've stayed but he was up next so he had to go.
Mina then turned to her opponent in horror and fainted again, this time collapsing in Toru's arms as everyone had a panic attack. Percy chuckled and turned to the field and was a little confused as to why Iida was wearing support gear on his back. He knew he didn't need it so why? He then noticed a small smile on Hatsume's face showing her true intentions
His eyes widened. 'That sneaky little tramp. She convinced him to wear her gear. No doubt to show off. Oh boy Hephaestus would have had a field day' he thought to himself. He then laid back and got comfortable as he watched Iida plead with Midnight. "He's already lost" Percy stated as soon as Midnight gave hin permission.
Todoroki turned to him. He had been quiet ever since he apologized to both Sero and Asui, to which they immediately forgave him, and as he watched the earlier match he had to adjust his earlier assumptions of Jackson. But this latest statement struck him as odd. "What makes you say that?
Percy turned to him with a faraway look, one that shook Todoroki to his core, and said "If someone you don't know offers you a gift, there's a good chance that they have set you up for failure. I learned that lesson the hard way when I accepted a 'reward' from someone I hated." Midoriya narrowed his eyes at Hatsume as he muttered "Why would she ask Iida to try out her gear?" His eyes widened as he answered out loud, "She's set him up!"
And she did. As soon as Iida started running, Hatsume activated the mic she was wearing and began advertising her products, to the utter disbelief of everyone watching. "Hold on, does she have a microphone on her?!" Percy asked, his eyes as wide as a clock. Hatsume kept on explaining her products while continually evading Iida, even trapping him at one point. Shaking his head Percy stood up and walked to the locker room to prepare for his match.
When he walked in, something felt off. As if someone shouldn't be here. His eyes narrowed as he turned and launched a kick high, which was intercepted by a woman's leg. Percy studied the occupant, and sighed as he lowered his leg. "So what does the number 7 hero want with me, Mirko?" He asked.
Mirko stayed in her fighting stance smiling. "To see what you're made of. Not bad for someone out of time. Your instincts are better than most adults. You've been training them for some time haven't you?" She asked, impressed at his reaction.
Percy kept his guard up. From what Midoriya wrote about the bunny hero, she was unpredictable. But then he wondered. "Why are you even here? No disrespect whatsoever but you never worked well with others" he asked.
Mirko's grin faltered, but then she reached into her breasts, Percy turning away awkwardly, and pulled out a form, "Lets just say some nosy friends took away my excuses. But I also wanted to extend an invitation. So if you're interested you can come by and intern with me. I have another one for the little green brat who ripped me off too if he wants to do it properly" she added bitterly. Percy laughed as he remembered Midoriya's axe kick that tore his ice dome. He took the form and studied it before bowing to her.
"Well it will be an honor to work with you. I have to keep my options open though, I still am learning a bit about my own quirk but I'll definitely keep it in mind. I will make sure to tell him though. I'm sure he will be thrilled" Percy thanked her as he began to leave, a determined look on his face.
"Try not to break her. She's panicking enough as it is" Mirko joked before hopping away. Percy watched, intrigued by her power and speed, before shaking it off as he walked towards the field.
Up in the stands, the girls were concerned. Mina had left during Iida's match but she looked horrified. The hero course students knew that they might have to fight Jackson, but that didn't lessen the tension. Uraraka turned to Midoriya who was watching the field intensely. "Deku, does he have any weaknesses? You did train with him right?" Midoriya noticed everyone from his class was staring at him wondering the same thing. "He's still adapting to his abilities, specifically earth and fire manipulation. But in close combat he is untouchable. And long range doesn't work either as he can condense the water in the air itself and deliver punches from a far. The boundaries help though. If Ashido can force him to move, he might be vulnerable enough that with a well timed hit he could be out of bounds. But I think he already knows that" he surmised.
Mina stepped out onto the field with the crowd cheering her on. Terrified as she was, she tried to smile and wave to the audience. That all changed when Percy walked out. And no matter what her state of mind was, she couldn't help but check him out. His toned body, the skinny but muscular arms, his long legs, his wild and untamed hair. His eyes though made her legs buckle. She was about to consider walking away when she heard him say "Ashido, I know you're scared. I understand why. But I want you to think back to what happened last week. How the League tried to hurt the people you care about. How you wanted to hurt the people who caused harm to your teachers and threatened to do the same to you and your classmates. Now use that anger and frustration to motivate you right now."
She stared at him in disbelief. He was smiling, not in the taunting way but in a caring manner. She nodded and took a deep breath and closed ber eyes before remembering the events that happened. Her fists clenched as she remembered Thirteen's suit being ruptured. How Aizawa looked when she saw him. How damaged Midoriya was. That anger flowed through her body as she opened her eyes, her fear gone as she took her stance.
"Alright Folks, we're about to see the legend take on one of our illustrious heroes in training. Should be a walk in the park right Aizawa," Present Mic said out loud in commentary.
"She'll give him all she has. And it might be a bit closer than you think. Ashido's quirk allows her to produce acid from her skin and launch it at her target. Jackson will have his hands full. Especially after that speech he just gave her," Aizawa responded, glad to see one of his students willing to throw caution to the wind against her opponent.
Ashido started the match by firing three acid shots, which was then intercepted by a wall of rock immerging in front of Percy. Percy then sent the rock after Ashido before delivering a quick air jab to the slab's left and right. Ashido had jumped to the left, and had to contort her body in order to avoid the gust of air. She then heard two thuds and turned to look. There were two small sized dents in the wall behind Cementoss. Ashido then started producing acid from her feet as she began to skate towards a stationary Percy, firing acid towards him as she skated towards him.
The crowd went wild chanting Ashido as she skated towards Percy. He smiled and fired small earthen projectiles at her acid. However he noticed that the closer she got, the closer acid seemed to come towards him. Realizing what she planned, he pulled his right fist back as legs were closed together. He took a deep breath and focused as much air as possible into the fist. Ashido kept firing acid shots at him though m, getting closer and closer. Once she was in front of him she cocked her hand to deliver an uppercut, when all of a sudden Percy yelled "EAT YOUR HEART OUT THALIA!" stunning her momentarily as she was right in front of him. Percy then pushed his right leg forward, and imitating Jin Kazama's Avenger's Fist, delivered a powerful punch to her gut, sending her flying back to the boundary on the other side. She landed on her back with her head crossing the line, declaring him the winner. The crowd was happy though as they still kept chanting Ashido.
Percy walked over to the distraught girl. She was crying as she had lost, she gave it everything she had and it wasn't enough. She saw him standing over her offering his hand. She took it but couldn't look at him. "Hey Ashido, that was incredible. You almost had me there" Percy complimented. Mina stared at him in shock, tears still flowing. He then showed her the holes in his uniform, both on his chest and legs. "Your plan was to cover enough of the field with acid, and when I was focused on the acid on my feet, you could've delivered an uppercut that would've gotten me out. I had let your acid hit me which hurt a lot. So don't take this as a loss, take it as a learning experience" he advised her as he wiped away her tears.
Mina smiled a bit before frowning. "I still have a lot to improve on though. And its not like heroes will consider me anyway" she lamented not hearing the chants. Percy kneeled to her level and stated "That's not my name they're chanting." Mina looked up and saw everyone yelling praises towards her. She looked to her classmates who were cheering her on as well. Her eyes started to water again before turning to Percy and challenged "I promise you, I will get better and stronger so that the next time we spar I will best you." The crowd cheered louder at the statement, earning a smile on Percy's face as he shook her hand. "I look forward to it, Ashido," he answered her challenge. Mina shook her head and said "you can call me Mina, big man"
Percy shook his head in amusement and walked with her back to their seats "Alright then Mina" he compromised. As they headed upstairs he wondered about the rest of the matches and what he would have to face later on. Either way he was prepared no matter who his next opponents were. He would watch the rest of the matches and check for weaknesses to exploit so that he wouldn't fall into another trap. After all, he had people watching expecting him to adapt. And he wouldn't disappoint.
Finally. The longest chapter I've written. Now I'm splitting the third round into three chapters, as covering the three whole rounds chapter by chapter is exhausting. And yes I did use Jin's punch. Before you say anything, just because Percy was not allowed technology outside camp, doesn't mean he will be clueless to them. After all, the camp was secure enough for the campers to use tech as long as they didn't spread it around. And considering how sneaky the Stoll brothers were back then, and you have demigods playing video games on a PS2. Now before anyone says the PS2 was outdated at the time, keep in mind the risks the satyrs have to go through scouring for demigods. Now double it with the demigod scent
Next Time: Percy watches and cheers on Uraraka but then is shocked by Midoriya's decision.
