Chapter 21

Christa, Ymir, and Nanaba are heading south as they are going to find survivors, Ymir wants to withdraw since they don't have any gear, but Christa assures her that she is going to be fine. Christa also asks if the reason why Ymir wants to protect her is because of her family, but Ymir replies that it is only for herself.

Gelgar's group meets up with Nanaba's group, and Gelgar asks, "Did you follow the wall here, too?"

"Yeah. Where did you find the hole?" Nanaba asks. "We didn't find anything to the west. Didn't you find it your way?"

"No..." Gelgar says. "There's no hole this way either."

Lynne asks, "Is it possible we missed it?"

"No way." Henning says.

Gelgar asks, "Not a hole big enough for Titans to use. Should we go back and look again?"

"We'll need to, but the horses and the rest of us are exhausted." Nanaba says. "If only we had some moonlight..."

At the same time, because of the clouds, Odom manages to find the castle and lands on it before turning back into a human. "Good thing nobody sees me in my Titan form." Odom says while looking around. "Forget about finding Connie and the others, I think I'll just take a rest here."

Just then, the clouds disperse, and both Gelgar and Nanaba groups arrive not long after. Odom notices the sound as he quickly looks from the window.

"It looks like a mess, but we can make it work for one night of rest." Gelgar says.

"Right. Luckily the moon is out." Nanaba says as they all get off the horse.

At the same time, Hange, Levi, Mikasa, Armin, Eren, Aya, and Pastor Nick are on the wagon. Hange is still looking at the crystal in her hand. It is the hardened fragment of skin left behind by the Female Titan. It didn't disappear, and Hange thinks that the walls and the crystal is of the same material.

"I know what you mean, and the thing is, I can do the same hardening as well. I guess you want me to plug the hole with my ability?" Eren asks.

"It should be made of the same material. And seeing how the hardened section won't evaporate, even after you revert from a Titan... it's possible." Hange says.

"Yeah, maybe we can try. And assuming it really does work, reclaiming Wall Maria is feasible, too." Armin says.

"We also won't need that many materials to fix the wall. If I remember, Katrina, Peter, and Odom can also do it as well, so Eren won't be tired." Aya adds.

Just then, they arrive at Ehrmich District, and Pastor Nick witnesses hundreds of refugees wandering the streets.

"Take a good look at the faces of people who've lost everything. The faces of everyone you and your people abandoned." Levi says. "If your church's wish comes true and Titans come flooding through the walls, we'll all be gobbled up in their stinking mouths and die in the most miserable way possible. All of humanity digested as one."

At the same time, Hange is bringing Eren and Aya to the wall, just then, they notice Katrina and a woman coming towards them.

"Katrina?" Eren asks, "What are you doing here?"

Katrina says, "This woman needs some medical treatment. She's Connie's mother."

Hange says, "Is that so?" Then she asks a scout to bring her for treatment. Katrina says, "And I have some bad news. Commander Miche is dead..."

Everyone gasps in surprise, Eren grits his teeth and says, "Damn it... what about the others?"

"Odom is still out there trying to find the survivors." Katrina says. "And the one who killed Commander Miche is the Beast Titan..."

"The Beast Titan..." Eren and Aya widen their eyes.

Hange says, "Damn... we lost another member of the Survey Corps... Katrina, right now just follow us for now."

Katrina nods as they walk to find Mikasa and Armin waiting for them. Hange also notices Pastor Nick and Levi as she talks to them.

Armin says, "Katrina, where is Odom?"

"He's still out there finding Connie, Reiner, and the others." Katrina says. "I came here because I found someone who needs medical help."

"I see..." Mikasa frowns.

Then Pastor Nick tells them about an individual until Sasha and Peter are back. "104th Cadet Corps! Sasha Braus and Peter Fischer!"

But noticing Eren and the others' shocked face, Peter asks, "Guys?"

"It's her?" Eren asks.

"Who's that?" Hange asks.

"You must find her at once. Only she... She may know the truths which even we cannot perceive." Nick says. "That's all the information I can share. The rest I leave in your hands."

"If she's in the 104th, then she's deep in the front lines right now." Hange gasps.

"Who are you talking about?" Peter asks Aya. "Christa." Aya replies.

"Actually, there is another girl who also has the right to reveal the information..." Pastor Nick says.

"Who?" Levi asks.

"There is another noble clan who has a special power, the government was afraid of that power, which is why they have been hunted a lot of years ago. I don't know the name of the noble clan, but she needs to be protected as well." Pastor Nick says.

"So you also don't know who the person is..." Levi mutters.

"Anyway, we have to go! We need to hurry!" Eren says.

But he bumps into Sasha. Sasha reveals that she and Peter are giving a report to the Commander before leaving.

When Nanaba's group and Gelgar's group arrive at the castle, they open the door to find Odom looking at the window.

"Odom? What are you doing here?" Reiner asks.

"Oh, hey guys." Odom says. "So it really is you. I was trying to find you guys."

"Alone? Are you serious?" Ymir asks.

"Well, I was with Katrina, but she left since we found a woman who told us to be Connie's mother."

"My mom!" Connie rushes towards him. "Is she safe? What about my other family?"

"We only found her, Katrina is bringing her back to Commander Hange and the other Survey Corps so she can get some treatment."

"Thank goodness." Connie smiles with tears in his eyes, knowing that his mother is still safe.

Nanaba says, "You're one of the Levi Squad members? I see you have your gear with you."

"Yes." Odom salutes, "We also want to inform you that the Female Titan and the shifter has been captured."

This causes everyone to be surprised, but Odom also notices Bertolt and Reiner feel uneasy.

They decide to rest for a while until they notice the Titans approaching the castle. Odom grits his teeth, "Damn it! Those were the Titans that killed Commander Miche!"

"Commander Miche is dead as well?" This causes horror to them, Odom grits his teeth, "I'm sorry, we wanted to help him, but he wants us to leave and give messages to you guys..."

"I see..." Nanaba frowns.

Then they notice the Beast Titan. Connie asks, "It's huge! What the hell is it? A Titan?"

"That's the Beast Titan! He was the one who commanded those Titans to kill Commander Miche!" Odom says with anger.

Reiner and Bertolt are confused why Odom knows about this. Connie says, "It's... headed for the wall!"

The Titans are trying to attack the castle, while at the same time, Levi asks Mikasa and Armin to work together to protect Eren, Katrina, and Aya as they head to the Utgard Castle

"Odom, you have the ODM gear, put it to good use." Nanaba says. "As for you guys, leave it to us!"

Then Odom, Nanaba, Gelgar, Lynee, and Henning are attacking the Titans, while the Beast Titan manages to climb on top of the wall.

(Two hours earlier)

After meeting Odom and getting into the castle, Odom says, "Before I come here, it seems like someone was here recently."

Then they start to think if there were bandits in this place before. Gelgar found a bottle of booze, but he couldn't read the words on it.

"What if the wall isn't broken? The Titans... Where could they be invading from?" Christa asks.

"Finding the answer to that... is our job for tomorrow." Gelgar says while heading upstairs.

"But what if-? Maybe it's not nearly as bad as we thought from the start. I'm just saying, but..."

"Yeah... There's barely any Titans around here." Henning replies. "If the wall was really broken, that is."

"The only group we've really seen was during the initial sighting." Nanaba says.

Then Connie also revealed his village, he also revealed nobody was eaten. And with Odom confirming his mother is safe, that means everyone else must have escaped.

"I really want to tell them the truth... but those two are here..." Odom thinks, "I'm sorry, Connie."

Then Connie also tells them about the Titan on top of her house, and for some reason, it reminds him of his mother."

"Are you an idiot? You think your mother might have been that Titan?!" Ymir laughs. "Then how come you're so damn short, huh?"

"And who was the woman that we saved? Someone pretending to be your mother?" Odom asks.

Ymir tried to mock Connie, only for him to shut her up. After a while, Ymir tried to find something to eat, and Reiner asked her about Connie's village. Odom was listening to their conversation without them noticing.

"You... were able to read this language?" Reiner's words perked Odom's interest, but thanks to Nanaba calling the Titans were here Ymir didn't say anything.

(Flashback Ends)

The five scouts with ODM gears are fighting as they kill some Titans on the way. Nanaba asks, "Couldn't you have avoided that without wasting your blades?"

"That's just how I do things." Gelgar says. "You better chalk that one up as an assist."

"How heroic of you." Nanaba says. "I'll think about it."

Just when Lynee tells them that the door is bashed in, Odom says, "Damn it! I'll go block the Titans inside!" Then he rushes into the door while the other scouts ask the other scouts without gear to form a barricade.

"I'm sorry..." Odom frowns as he kills a smaller Titan, and he notices a Titan approaching the door he yells, "No!"

But another Titan is coming toward him, as he can only attack the other Titans first, and they see Ymir and the others uses the Cannons to attack the titan.

"Nice work." Odom says, but he notices another Titan coming for Connie, and Reiner pushed Connie out of the way as Reiner's arm was bitten.

"Reiner!" Odom rushes towards him, but Reiner says, "Wait!"

He tries to push the Titan away, and Ymir manages to kick him down the window. Odom asks, "Guys, are you fine?"

"Yeah." Connie says.

"Good, I'm going back to the battlefield." Odom says as he leaves.

Connie and others form a barricade and Christa is trying to heal Reiner by tearing her skirt to make a bandage. But while Odom gets back with the other scouts, Odom says, "The recruits are fine."

"Good." Nanaba says, but then they see the horses being killed by the Beast Titan throwing Rocks.

"Lynee! Henning!" Nanaba yells as the rock hits both of them. Odom quickly grabs Lynne while Nanaba grabs Henning.

"What was that?" Connie and the others get to the roof. Odom says, "Damn it... they're gone."

"This can't be..." Christa says.

"It is that Beast Titan!" Connie yells as he also notices a lot of Titans approaching.

Odom whispers, "Damn it... as expected from the Yeager family..." Good thing nobody is able to hear him.

The Titans are approaching again and Odom, Nanaba, and Gelgar are trying to attack, but their gas is running low, and in the end, Nanaba and Gelgar are also eaten by the Titans.

"No!" Odom yells in horror, and the other scouts are watching in the same horror as well.

"The tower is going to crumble..." Odom says as he gets back to the others.

"Hey... Do we gotta wait here now until the tower falls and we get eaten alive?" Connie asks. "Is there nothing we can do about it?! We'll be wiped out without even finishing our mission."

Christa says, "I... want to keep fighting, too. If only I had some sort of weapon, then I could fight and die alongside them."

"Christa... You're still talking about things like that? Don't you dare use their deaths." Ymir warns. "They didn't die so you'd have an excuse to get yourself killed."

"And we are not going to let you die as well." Odom says. "You are important... and I want all of you to live."

"Odom, what are you doing?" Reiner notices Odom taking off his ODM gear and walking toward the tower.

Odom says, "As I promised to Eren, Aya, and my friends, I'm going to kill the Titans!" Then he jumps into the air and bites his arm, and he starts to transform into the Sky Titan.

"Wait, what?" The five of them are shocked. "Odom is also a Titan like Eren?" Connie asks.

"That's the Sky Titan!" Bertolt gasps.

Ymir notices Odom and has Connie give her the knife, and she also cuts herself to become the Jaw Titan. "Even Ymir as well?" Christa gasps.

"What the hell? We have not only one but two Titan shifters with us?" Connie asks.

Odom notices Ymir and smirks, "The Jaw Titan..."
