No. 13 Can't make an omelette without breaking a few legs ("Are you here to break me out?")

~

Keenser was sneaking through the dark hallways of the enemy ship. His heart was beating out of his chest. If someone saw him, he'd be dead.

The Romulans weren't too kind with invaders. Keenser was sure that they'd kill him right away.

But he had to get the prisoners free. After all, McCoy was one of his friends. And more importantly a part of his found family.

Keenser thought about how often the doctor had helped him out, patched him up, saved his life. Now he finally had the chance to make it up to him.

The Roylan had beamed aboard the ship in secret. No member of the Enterprise knew he was here.

Kirk was still trying to debate with the Romulans to let his people go. The Romulans were arguing that they wanted their prisoners back. Some Vulcans the Enterprise had saved. They had been part of a research group, exploring a planet close to the neutral zone. The Romulans claimed that they had been on the planet first so they had taken the group prisoner.

The crew had managed to free the Vulcans, but unfortunately some of their own had been taken captive.

So here Keenser was, trying his best to get to the ship's brig. He was lucky that he was so small. That way he could hide in small alcoves whenever someone passed him.

He turned around the corner and finally he was at his point of destination.

He could see a cell, being guarded by two Romulans.

Inside of it… McCoy! And four other members of the crew.

He had only been with the team because they didn't know if some of the Vulcans needed quick help.

From where he was standing Keenser couldn't see if we was hurt.

He had to think of a plan. What could he do? How could he distract the guards?

Keenser remembered a console he had seen. Maybe he could cause the lights to go out.

He ran back to the console and started. Working on the cables, he burned his hands heavily and grunted in pain, but he didn't have time to think about himself.

He needed to help McCoy and the others.

One last movement and… Yes!

The lights went out.

Keenser moved back. He could see quite well in the dark. He saw every hallway… and the guards.

They looked around, talking and yelling in their native language.

When one of them started to run into his direction, Keenser quickly knocked him out with a phaser shot.

The other guard followed his crewmate and met the same fate.

Keenser quickly moved over to the cell where he got working at the keypad.

God, his hands were aching so badly. He could feel blood run down them. But he still needed his fingers. He needed to break them out.

When the door opened, Keenser knew that everyone could be beamed out of this place. The barrier blocking the teleporter's ability was gone.

"Beam out! Beam out!" The small Roylan yelled into his comm and he really hoped Scotty could hear him and that he would see all the dots.

"Keenser? What the-"

McCoy didn't get to finish his shocked question for he and everyone else were surrounded by golden swirls, shining in the darkness.

When they rematerialized aboard the Enterprise, Scotty seemed tempted to yell at his little friend, but decided that they had to get the ship away quickly.

So he ran out of the room and headed back to engineering.

Keenser looked up at McCoy and the others. They didn't seem to be injured too badly. A little cut on McCoy's forehead was all Keenser could see.

"Okay?" he asked and McCoy stared at him with wide eyes.

No… not at him. At his hands.

They really looked horrible. Bloody and burned.

"I… yeah…," McCoy swallowed hardly, "Thank you Keenser."

The Roylan gave them all a nod.

"Now let me take a look at your hands while Scotty gets us out of here."

That was it. He had saved McCoy. And McCoy would save his hands. Just like it should be.
