Prologue to The Road to Pokemon
It was a hot summer day in New Bark Town and Nathan and his twin brother Joe were walking to the Professor's Lab. They had turned 10 today so they wanted to get started on their Pokemon journey ASAP.
As they walked through the doors, they were amazed at what they saw. Shelves full of Pokemon books and researchers everywhere. They then saw Elm, 3 girls and 1 boy. They quickly ran up to Elm and waited for their turn to choose a Pokemon. Finally it was their turn.
"Hello boys. Which Pokemon would you like today? Let's see...we have a Bulbasaur, a Cyndaquil and a Totodile. Which would you like?" Asked Professor Elm as he smiled warmly at the boys.
"Could I have a...Cyndaquil please Professor?" Replied Nathan.
"And I'll have a Bulbasaur please, sir." Said Joe.
"Good choices! Here are your Pokemon. Also I recommend getting a PokeGear from your mother so you can keep in touch!"
As the brothers walked out of the Lab two girls challenged them to a battle.
"Go! Squirtle!" Said the first girl.
"Attack! Chikorita!" Shouted the second girl.
"Let's go! Cyndaquil!" Replied Nathan.
"Well...Bulbasaur let's beat them!" Growled Joe.
After a hard-fought battle where Nathan lost because he had no Potions and the girl did, and Joe won because his Bulbasaur was strong and fast, the girls retreated.
"Phew! I'm glad they went." Said Joe.
"Are you okay Cyndaquil? You fought well and you tried your best. Let's get something to eat." Muttered Nathan to his tired and hungry Pokemon.
They walked back home and went to sleep after packing their things for the long journey ahead...
