This is my first try at a Moulin Rouge fanfic. Everyone
seems to have written a fic of their own, and I thought I'd take a stab at it.
Just for kicks - here is mine. It's a short first chapter of
this series.

Note: Satine is really Harold & Marie's daughter. And
I'd like to think of it that way.
Spring
of 1877, April 15th.
"What shall we
name her?" she asked, lying on her bed. Fatigue apparently showed in her eyes,
her chestnut brown hair wet, just moments ago she gave birth to a baby girl. It
wasn't painful. It was considered an easy delivery despite the three hours of
hard labour. Beads of sweat decorated her pale face. It was a warm night after
all. The mother let tears fell from her blue eyes, out of pure happiness.
The baby girl that was just born was in
Harold's cradling arms, her miniature eyes were still closed, her delicate
little naked body wrapped in a red satin blanket. She was a beautiful child,
already showing strands of red hair. She barely made a sound and moved little.
He brought the baby close to the bed and stood by Marie's side. She looked up
at him and smiled.
It didn't take him long to think of a
name.
"We'll name her Satine," he paused. "Our
Sparkling Diamond." The redhead man declared with glee as he gave the newborn a
gentle warm fatherly kiss.
How he would promise the whole world for
her.
The things he will do just for her.
The things he had planned.
That warm night was the night the
creatures of the underworld first heard of the musical cries of a future star
who will make all dreams come true. A flaming auburn courtesan who will make
men believe in whatever they want to believe.
