Minesweeper vs. Neggsweeper
by Hejira Hayes

Summary: This is the battle between the two formats of that clicky game. Mum prefers the former - I prefer the latter.

Smilie face gasped, the put on its sunglasses. It was fun, being part of a strategy game. The two women who sat at the computer (the two without whiskers and a tail) LOVED games like Minesweeper. Smilie felt the mouse click on the X button, confident that it would be seeing one of them (most likely the eldest) later.

Smilie checked the date - what, a MONTH! It was at most a week's gap between runnings! The mouse didn't even bother to touch it, and went to the X.

Smilie checked the date again. WTF? It had been three months! Ahh - the younger one was playing Minesweeper - she multi-tasked. Smilie would be able to see what was going on.

The teenager pressed Alt-Tab to Internet Explorer - at neopets.com. Smilie asked Notepad what was happening.

Notepad replied, "She's getting Neopoints."

"Neowhat? And how?"

Smilie saw what Notepad was getting at a second later. The girl had clicked to the Games, and onto a strategy game. Smilie would not have gotten jealous if it was any game...

It was called Neggsweeper.

Smilie could have eventually gotten on with the Neggsweeper when something stood out.

No timer.

No smilie like Smilie.

And it told how many squares were left.

It appeared Smilie was doomed.

"Grr!" The girl muttered.

Smilie looked at what had happened. The girl had clicked on an explosive Negg.

Smilie had to smile.

The girl clicked the X.

Smilie knew this last activation would be its last. This time, it was the girl's mother. Notepad had been kept open enough to know enough about them. "Notepad," Smilie asked, "Is IE open? I haven't been able to find out since I tried to alter its files."

Notepad checked. "Yes."

"Is it -"

"Yes. It's on Neopets."

The mother clicked onto the Minesweeper icon and started to play.

Smilie missed all the gasping, and was happy to do so.

The mother accidentally clicked on a mine, and Smilie played dead. It was still happy to do so, though.

The mother sighed, and reached for the X.

Even though Smilie didn't have a file to do so, it so much wanted to cry.

"Goodbye," said Notepad.

The Minesweeper mascot was unable to reply, as the X was clicked for the very last time.
