I'll always remember. It was late afternoon, in late September and it was a cloudy day. I was walking out of Chilton doors, staying late for a project
for Mr. Medina. You would think being a junior, I would have escaped Mr. Medina, but I'm only so lucky. While walking towards the bus stop, I
saw something out of the corner of my eye. I turned to see what, or who, it was.
He was sitting there, looking so lost and alone. I didn't know what to do, should I go over to him and miss my only way home, or go over to him to
see what was wrong. I couldn't help going over to him; I'd never seen him so vulnerable. When I sat down next him, he didn't even seem notice,
just sitting there with a blank stare on his face. He jumped when I tapped his shoulder.
"Go-oh hey"
I was waiting for him to say something and when he didn't, I took it as a signal to talk.
"So…what's wrong?"
"Don't wanna talk about it."
"Ok, so…"
"Just leave."
He said it so coldly I was about to, until he turned to watch me leave and I saw how pained he was. His eyes were puffy as if he had been crying,
so instead of getting up to leave, I kept my body in place. His body relaxed a little at seeing how I decided not to leave.
So we sat there. Not speaking. He was watching the sky, as I watched him. The sun had set by the time any words were spoken.
"My mom left last night."
"I'm sorry."
"Me too."
What happened next was just as big a surprise to him as it was to me. I hugged him. And he seemed relieved for his body relaxed and he
returned my embrace. So we were now just sitting there, embracing. And a few moments later, he began to cry. I didn't know what to do, so I
just held on tighter, and he copied my movements. It was then that I realized I cared for him. Through everything he put me through, I didn't think
he deserved anything like this. I released my grip on him a little to look into his eyes to see if he was ok. And it was then that I was changed.
Forever. It was then I realized that I could see forever in his eyes. All of his emotions, his thoughts, his…everything. I went back to hugging him,
and that was the day I realized, I was in love with Tristan Dugrey.
The End
Here are the lyrics to Mandy Moore's "Cry" in case any of you were wondering.
Cry
By Mandy Moore
I'll always remember
It was late afternoon
It lasted forever
And ended too soon
You were all by yourself
Staring up at a dark gray sky
I was changed
In places no one would find
All your feelings so deep inside (deep inside)
It was then that I realized
That forever was in your eyes
The moment I saw you cry
The moment that I saw you cry
It was late in September
And I've seen you before (and you were)
You were always the cold one
But i was never that sure
You were all by yourself
Staring at a dark gray sky
I was changed
In places no one would find
All your feelings so deep inside (deep inside)
It was then that I realized
That forever was in your eyes
The moment I saw you cry
I wanted to hold you
i wanted to make it go away
I wanted to know you
I wanted to make your everything, all right....
I'll always remember...
It was late afternoon...
In places no one would find...
In places no one would find
All your feelings so deep inside (deep inside)
It was then that I realized
That forever was in your eyes
The moment I saw you cry
