Arnaud hung back in the shadows as he watched Darien sitting at Kevin's grave. The only good thing about being permanently invisible was that as long as he didn't make any noise noone would know that he was there.

After what seemed like an eternity, Darien finally got up and walked away. Arnaud waited until he could no longer see Darien before approaching Kevin's grave.

The cemetary was virtually empty so he felt safe for the moment and spoke aloud.

"Well, Monsieur, it seems a year has passed since your unfortunate demise," Arnaud sighed and continued. "Things didn't go the way I planned them at all, Kevin."

Arnaud paused remembering the assualt on the project. Because Darien had caught him stealing files he'd had to speed up what he'd been planning.

"You weren't supposed to die. I had planned that you would go with me, since your brother was involved I knew that to help him you would have come along willingly," Arnaud paced back and forth.

"But you had to play the hero, to save your brother," the memory of seeing Kevin's bullet ridden body still haunted him.

"And now, I had the chance to get your help, and he interfered again," Arnaud thought bitterly.

"So, it seems I am cursed to remain this way. Yes, I KNOW it was unwise to put the gland into my own head, but you remember how much stubborn pride that I have," Arnaud brushed the unseen tears off his cheeks, the water appearing on the grass moments later.

Arnaud knelt in front of the headstone and opened his hand to reveal a white rosebud he'd been carrying. He laid the rose down and stood back up.

"I should be going now. Au revoir, Kevin. At least you are at peace," Arnaud turned and walked away.

Fin.
