I walk down the grey road hair draped over my face much darker than it usual colour and clinging to my skin like a leech once it's suckers had latched on to their pray. The rain fell heavily on to the ground splashing as it goes. I walk slowly up to the Aquamarine door unaware of how wet I really am. The key enters the lock smoothly and turns a full circle and the door open up to me, it glides silently open revelling nothing but darkness. I enter the threshold leavening a wet trail behind me it makes no difference to me no one is here and no one every will be. I stare into the darkness not hearing the door slam behind me I still hear nothing not the raging storm outside the heavens are opening and I'm not there to see it. I try a light switch my hand numb and stupid tries to flick the switch but nothing happens darkness is a curse upon my house, I walk into the kitchen try again nothing. I sit at the table and light a candle still numb from the rain I sit there for hours not realizing the time and them bam I snap back to reality and hurry up the tired stair case I walk along the landing my candle flickering revealing nasty shapes on the wall I'm not afraid though i could never be it wasn't scary at least not to me I walk into my bed room filled with unfamiliar shapes that whisper to me I am still unafraid this is my home and means little to me. I change my sopping wet clothes that sit I a pile on the cork floor a puddle has formed around them not really caring I scoop up the clothes and put them in the basement all on their on. I go back to the kitchen and the lights flicker on it's over now the darkness has gone and so has my night where for one night i was on my own.
