Boy Wonder

Magus cast his spell, weaving his hands through the air like so many intricate threads. Chanting arcane phrases and oaths long lost to this world save by the most elite mages. The blue-skinned man furrowed his brow in concentration; this spell would be irreversible. He had made sure that there would be no interruptions, lest his efforts were foiled and the unfortunate visitor be flung through space and time to gods knew where. A black orb blinked into existence in the space between his curled hands. White hot sparks flew from it in all directions, sizzling when they hit the ground and leaving behind glowing marks where they had hit, forming a circle of protection around the spellcaster.
Magus smiled in satisfaction, sweat beading and trickling down his brow to drip onto the stone floor of his castle. Now he had only the final word to say…
Robo clanked happily down the halls of the newly constructed dome on the south continent. He hummed a mechanical tune he had learned long ago, pausing every few feet to nod to the various passersby, many who expressed their profound gratitude and feelings newfound hope that the metal and steel creature who was thought of as a person had given them. The children who did not completely understand came too, jumping up and down around him and giving his stubby legs impressively strong hugs.
Robo felt flustered and embarrassed; building this simple dome with the help of some other friendly robots had been the least he could have done for his world, after the other models of his design had massacred so many of their friends and relatives. Those children…You just can't help loving them, He mused. Now that he had brought supplies along from the past-Crono's-time several farms and factories had already resumed work. Now everybody had carrots, potatoes, good clothes, tools, so many things that were so very rare in the second dark age. The metal invention estimated that in time, maybe even in 10 years, all of the poverty and starvation, all of the misery and fear would only be a distant memory for all of these poor, brave people.
Reaching his personal quarters, Robo entered the unlock code and stepped into the small, yet homey room.
He walked over to a small project of his and picked up a small piece of carved wood. The bright green lights that were Robo's eyes darkened.
Lucca…
She was his friend, his savior, someone who he could always confide in. They all were. Crono, Marle, Lucca, Ayla, Magus, Glen. Now they were all back in their own times, where they belonged. He would never see them again. Ever.
"But I belong with Lucca," Robo said softly.
Magus opened his mouth. Licked his lips. And uttered a single syllable.
Then the whole world went mad.
