To all the fans of JKR

To all the fans of JKR's books,

After Tuesday's tragedy, I was speechless. Winded. I began to realize what an awful 'real life' situation this is, and once again reminded why I'm often pushed into living half my life in a fantasy world. First off, I don't know what everyone's losses are yet besides the fact they are great, but I can say I already know many friends and families who are waiting...many who are grieving...many who have had miracles. No one is unaffected by this, and I think now is a good time to give everyone their support and prayers and just to be there for one another.

What Sirius Black says in GoF pretty much sums up what happened to our lives on 9/11/01, "You're scared for yourself, your family, and your friends...news comes of more deaths, more disappearences...terror everywhere...panic..confusion". We were all shocked into realizing yesterday that there are real death eaters in this world. They work their brand of dark magic with airplanes, bombs, buildings, lives. But JKR always offers us hope that the reign of chaos will end...and there are real Harry Potters and Dumbledores among us, and plenty of noble James and Lilys who have died trying to save someone else in the World Trade Center.

Look to the books we know so well. Listen to what they say. Dumbledore reminds us "We are only strong as we are united, weak as we are divided. Lord Voldemort's.." (in this case, the terrorists') "gift for spreading discord and enmity is verey great. We can fight it only by showing an equally stong bond of friendship and trust". Remember Cedric Diggory, and remember the innocents who died yesterday. The children of today will be like Neville Longbottom, Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley, the Crouches, their lives touched with madness. We are left with horrors in their memory, horrors just like everyone at the world cup, everyone at the third task, everyone after Voldemort's first reign.

Don't close your eyes. Open your arms and your hearts to everyone who has suffered. Don't be a Cornelius Fudge. As much as we don't want to believe what has happened to Downtown Manhattan and the Pentagon, our lives will be changed by this. Our pride will be changed by this. "Well times like that bring out the best in some people, and the worst in others", Sirius also said. Be one of the best people. Don't go around being prejudiced, calling out names of innocent, misled people till we know exactly who did this.

We will get through this. I love the USA, god bless america, we must hold tight among ourselves and the rest of the world. We all can be aurors and fight this evil. I pray for every Harry Potter fanatic and every complete muggle in every corner of the world, and I hope the magic in your hearts never die over this. "What's coming will come, and we'll meet it when it does"

Potter, Love....and most importantly Peace,

Kelly, (aka Dobbysocks)

Note: This is a slightly altered version on the message I sent to my local friends in our Harry Potter fan group. 'Peace, love, and Potter' is the usual salutation among most of us. This may not be fanfiction, but it directly pertains to every fan out there. Don't shut my author name down because of this message, please please please.

Disclamer: the quote are obviosuly JK Rowlings....the disaster belongs to the world.
