alone (van's prayer)
alone I linger in the sinking darkness
longing only for your soft, kind touch
I wait here in my prison of solitude
waiting for your light to shatter these barriers
never had I known such compassion,
such caring as you bestowed upon me
but oh, it still remains
a king without a land nor people to rule
what kind of future does Fate hold for me?
there is nothing left
nothing… but you
that day in the forest
you said that we were the same
how could an angel like you
be the same as an outcast, a loner, as I am?
are you truly as lonely as I am?
are we two some sort of star-crossed souls
ill-fated, but meant for each other?
but, perhaps what you say is true
you left me alone on that sunset-kissed cliff
you spread your wings and disappeared
it was no dream nor vision; I knew you were real
you were the sincere Goddess, sent to save us
from the destruction and chaos of war
did you return to your heavenly realm,
the one in which you fell from?
I gaze out at the lustrous moons hanging in the midnight sky
hoping to see some sort of glimmer of your arrival
wishing you were somehow here again
my Goddess, my angel, the other half of my soul
will you ever return to Gaea? to me?
so near to me that I can feel our hearts beat in time
so here I wait patiently
wishing for the dawning to break through the endless night
but I will continue this devotion of hope to my winged Goddess
for I know that your heart aches as much as mine when we are parted
because when you were so close by my side, soaring through the skies,
I did not feel so alone.
