Jaina stood up from the breakfast table and sighed. Jacen and Tenal Ka shouted good-bye as they hurried off. Jaina felt like crap. It had been a tough day. Her emotions were raging out of control, her stomach was killing her, and she just generally felt sick. Jacen and Tenal didn't seem to care, they just rushed off to go running. She felt anger bubbling up in her. Come on Jaina, she told herself, Jacen's left you when you were sick to go running before. Then, just like that, it was gone, and she felt like crying.
After breakfast, Jaina went back to her dorm and lay on the bed. The pillows felt so comfy, and she didn't have any classes today. She stretched out under the covers and fell fast asleep.
A few hours later, she woke up. As she pulled back the covers, she noticed that her whole behind felt wet. Wet the bed? Her? Never. She crossed her fingers and looked. It was almost as bad. Blood covered the whole area beneath her bottom and between her legs. She nearly screamed as she sat up. Her period. After three years of anxious anticapation, here it was. Her mother had told her this might happen, and if so, to go to the med unit and ask for something. Jaina slowly stood up and headed for the 'fresher. After a long shower, she dressed slowly, and placed a few pieces of tissue paper in her underwear. Then she slowly made her way our into the hallway. As she slinked along the walls, she noticed the place was dead. A notice on one of the bulletin boards suddenly caught her eye, and she remembered the field trip into the middle of the jungle that Tionne was taking everyone on. The whole place was quiet. Oh well, she thought. This makes this a whole lot easier. I'll just sneak into the place, grab a pad, and leave.
She continued her journey, and came to the doorway. As she reached for the knob, she suddenly heard, "Hey Jaina! Where're you going?"
Jaina screamed and whirled around. It was Uncle Luke. He smiled and raised and eyebrow, then noticed the door she was standing in front of.
"Are you hurt?" he asked.
"Um. . .no. Something else. Do you know if, uh . . .a woman's around here somewhere?"
She gave him a look. Luke gulped. Stang, just what he needed! Why him, why him, why him? A Jedi must be able to handle any solution, though.
"Actually, no one's around but us two. Um . . .alright, fine. I think we both know what's going on, and let's see if . . . I can find the key to this door."
He pulled his keyring off his belt and sorted through the keys. Once he found the right one, he handed it to Jaina and stepped backwards. She opened the door slowly and walked inside. She sorted through almost the entire med kit before coming back out empty-handed.
"Uh, they don't have any."
"What? Okay then. I guess we'll just-"
"Hey, Skywalker! Miss me?"
He turned around to see Mara standing behind them, back from her trip. Luke ran over and kissed her, nearly melting with relief. He'd never needed a woman so bad in his life!
"Uh, I think Jaina needs to talk to you about something." Luke said, backing away.
"Sure, what's up?" Mara asked.
Luke smiled and walked off down the hallway.
All right, that might be terrible, but I've always been told never to judge my own work. Flame me if you must, but constructive critisism is appreciated.
