The cool Earth wind whipped around Jim and settled into oblivion. Jim turned his back to the setting sun and walked home. "Hey Jim you finally back?"
"That in itself is apparent."
"Funny Jim real funny. Ummmmm there was something I was suppose to tell you..."
"JAMES WHERE ARE YOU???"
Jim turned slowly to Gene. "Is my father here?"
"Ohhhh yeah that's what I was suppose to tell you."
"Damn you Gene Starwind..."
"There you are James."
"Uhhhh hi dad."
"Whatever happened to Daddy?"
"DADDY???" Gene bellowed out.
It was at this moment that Suzuka, Melfina, and Aisha came back from a day of shopping to find a short man who resemble Jim in their living room.
"Hey guys this is Ji... I mean James's daddy!!!" Gene screamed.
Suzuka stiffled a laugh, Aisha laughed outloud and Melfina greeted Mr. Hawking.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Hawking."
"Please call me Jim."
"So how long will you be with us Jim?" Gene asked.
"Not long I'm afraid. Just for dinner than I must catch a shuttle to Mars."
"Ohhhh so sorry well Mel makes dinner and it should be ready soon so why don't us and little James go eat."
Unlike "Jim's" enterance dinner was uneventfull. Nightime slipped quietly over Earth as the Jims' made it outside.
"So James how are things going?"
"How are things going??? Is that all you can say dad? I know we never got along even before mom died but...you could have had the decency to try and find me!"
Jim looked out into the darkness that was closing in around them for a while. "I came to see you James."
"Only after I let you know where I was because I felt bad."
"I'm sorry James."
"Don't be this is the last time I'm calling you. Mom was the only thing that kept us together and now that..." Jim/James started to cry. Large clear tears running down his face.
"James..."
"GO AWAY YOU WERE NEVER THERE WHEN I NEEDED YOU!!! YOU WEREN'T THERE WHEN MOM WAS DIEING YOU WEREN'T THERE WHEN I WAS SICK YOU WERE NEVER THERE!!! I GREW UP WITHOUT A FATHER, WITHOUT A DAD."
"James..."
"No I'm sorry I do have a dad. Gene is my dad. Gene taught me so much. Sometimes I get to be his dad too. Well most of the time but still I have a family you just aren't a part of it."
Jim was silent for so long. "I'm sorry for not being a dad James or do they call you Jim now?"
"Dad I..."
Jim smiled. "No need son."
"No dad I didn't mean it I missed you I just...you weren't there dad and I needed you."
"I'm sorry."
"I'll see you to the shuttle."
Jim smiled. "Thank you, son I'm glad you have Gene here it makes me feel better."
James/Jim smiled. "I love you Daddy."
"I love you too son. Well let's go or I'll be late."
And so they went.
