Venus Pillows

When I look at mum, she glares at me like that one time I ate all her tea. She does that a lot lately. Her lips curl down just a little and she tucks in her right shoulder, mean eyes like maple syrup whiskey, beetle calculating like father's friends.
She says I broke her perfume, spilled down the drain like pink acid liquid. I almost remember that. Through purple mist fog, boredom is rosy. But she can get more, I know. From the big brown store with lots of shops.
Uncle Severus came today. He went and talked with father while I played with blocks. ABC. CBA. BAC. Like flies in chicken toadleg soup or broken feathers in my mouth. Reaching, grasping, failing...Father says I'll make a good Malfoy when I'm grown up. I nod and smile and do my best to be 'the little potions angel'. I want them to like me.
And mother screams and throws her shoes at me like word pebble unicorn magic. I still love her, though. And I know she loves me.
I love father, too. Sometimes he comes at night and he touches me, and does stuff to me and tells me to do stuff to him. But I don't mind if it keeps him liking me. I just go like a swan into the black land and quiet feathery bluglass. And when he leaves I barely notice, because I'm smelling the blueglass and listening to the wind singing for me, like sleeping tulips and honeysuckle tea. Smelling like waterchildren love and daisy petals, with pretty green leaves floating in the air.
And someday...someday I'm going to be somebody. And I'm going to have somebody, someone really special and sweet like lemon pie, and I'll take him here and show him the baby raspberries and secrets like no one knows.
He'll be real special, and he'll love me for me just like a brother. My brother dove, a sweet dragon phoenix that flies through the otherlands and sleeps on venus pillows, drifting gently through the night sky.
So I'm going to wait here with my blueglass pine needles till he comes along. And I know he will. Just like I know my mother loves me.
