A grandpa is a special person and they always made you feel special. If having a grandpa makes you special then I must be really special because I had four. Most people say that's impossible, that you can only have two, but not the way I see it. I had my mom's dad who died before I was born. There was dad's dad who died when dad was just a little kid, there was Grandpa Frank, grandma's husband and then there was Grandpa AJ. Grandpa AJ isn't any relation to me, but he's much to important to be called uncle or just plain AJ. I saw my Grandpa AJ much more than I did Grandpa Frank and Grandpa AJ did much more with me. He liked the outdoors and so did I. I remember the first time he took me fishing. We had to walk into the water to stand and the fish were swimming all around. I was so frightened that they'd bite me, but Grandpa AJ said they wouldn't. So I stepped in the lake and they didn't. Grandpa AJ was right.
Grandpa AJ as a whole lot better then just fishing. He's the one that convinced dad into getting me my car at sixteen. I think its automatic that when a kid turns 16 they go straight to looking at car books, trying to find that perfect car. One day I found it. The perfect car. It needed a little work, alright a lot of work, but I was ready for it, but dad said no when I asked him about buying the classic corvette. With some work that car would look like the one dad used to have. No matter how much I begged and pleaded dad always said no. So I went to mom and of course she stood by dad's decision . Then one day I'm getting off the bus and dad's standing in the yard talking with Grandpa AJ when he tells me to go in through the garage because mom's cleaning the living room. So I open the garage door and sitting there where dad's car usually is my car was sitting. I ran up and hugged him but he pointed in Grandpa AJ's direction. That's when I knew that Grandpa AJ bought me my car or was responsible for talking dad into buying it for me.
When I finally got my car all fixed up I had the coolest car at Washington. Well I thought so until she came along. She broke my heart. She was my first love and never thought I would, but Grandpa AJ told me that I would. At the time I never believed him. It's funny now I know he was right every time I look into my baby girls eyes.
I'm was stationed at JAG Headquarters under dad when mom gave me the news about Grandpa AJ. He'd been in real bad health lately, but I never thought anything would happen. Grandpa AJ was a seal nothing could hurt him. When I walked into his room and saw him laying on the bed I started to cry. He reached out his feeble hand and told me not to cry and I promised him I wouldn't, but I broke that promise when he told me that he was privileged to know me and have me call him Grandpa. With his dying breath he told me that we'd meet again and now I'm moving on because Grandpa told me so.
THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
